This gas station is in great condition and conveniently located at corner of Remington/Fair Oaks and Sunnyvale-Saratoga. We come here a lot and never a bad experience. Came by the other day for a fill-up and it was a quick and easy experience. This ARCO is unique as it takes credit cards and also has payment at the pump! The pump even takes contactless devices! Very not friendly personal works at this ARCO gas station. I needed the license plate number of a car which hit my parked car while moving backwards. I asked the manager, a young woman, to check their recording but she never did. Left my phone number but never called. I don't know why. Probably I have not begged or offered some pay for her "service"? Good people help others who ask for help if there is something they can do or in their power. Bad people do not. I go to this gas station a lot because it is has among the lowest price gas within a quarter mile of my residence, near Las Palmas park. Check gasbuddy.com for the cheapest gas in your area -in Sunnyvale it is Costco, but who wants to wait in the long lines there! They have two islands, with 2 pumps on either side, or a total of 8 pumps total, with squeegee and paper towels. I pull in off of Sunnyvale Saratoga Road, and pull in with the gas tank on the driver side right next to the island. My 1998 Honda Civic sedan is narrow enough that I can can actually pull in on the front passenger side of the island, with the gas hose just able to reach over the trunk and reach the gas tank filler on the driver side. However gas station owners don't like you doing this, as it stretches the gas hose too much, and eventually shortens it's life span. This is an Arco station and they don't take credit cards, only cash, or debt cards, with a $0.45 transaction surcharge for the latter. I always use the debt card here on the automated island payer screen for the following reasons. If you pay cash, and you have change due, then you have to go inside to the convenience store to get change, while holding up the line of cars waiting for gas. And in our stress filled society you don't want to piss off anyone if you can help it. The cashier clerk behind the counter inevitably is lacking in social skills, and speaks in broken English. Another reason to pay by debt card. I will pay the $0.45 debt card fee, so I don't have to deal face to face with with charm school dropouts. Not that rude people phase me -all my co-workers are rude! And I don't worry about debt card electronic fraud at the pump. So I'm filling up my gas tank, while another old fart takes a look at my 1990s Fila tennis shorts shorts, and passion flower colored Birkenstocks and gives me a distasteful look. It is what it is! Arco has bathrooms, but I've never used them, as our house is 2 minutes away. The wife says that her bathroom is cleaner than the Arco bathroom, but that the Arco bathroom is cleaner than my bathroom, despite all the male species inevitably leaving a puddle in front of all gas station toilets!. My ex-wife has said the same thing about my bathroom, but compared it to the BART toilets! She put up with it for 19 years hoping I would change! Across the street on the other side of Sunnyvale Saratoga road is a 7-11, a Little Caesar's Pizza, and a Tae Kwan Do exercise class room. Nothing like the smell of pizza while filling up your tank! And across Remington is a vacant lot of a torn down restaurant, waiting to be replaced with townhouses. I'm leaving the station onto Sunnyvale Saratoga Rd, waiting for the endless stream of cars in the right lane making a right turn onto Remington. There is a break, and I'm just ready to put a foot to the metal, when a pedestrian from the other side walks in front of the car, paying no attention, with her head glued to her cell phone. After her, I'm about to floor it, when an SUV pulls out of the left turn lane on Sunnyvale Saratoga Rd, drives horizontally across 3 lanes into the right turn lane, honking the horn, just missing me turning onto the expressway! Gas station clerks lacking in social graces, cell phone pedestrians, and now drivers who failed driving school -Friday night entertainment at the Arco gas station! read more

The bathroom door had at an "out-of-order" handwritten sign on it. I questioned the clerk, and he said that the bathroom was fine. I used it briefly, and it was totally good-to-go. I came out and asked the clerk if I could remove the sign, and he said, "no, that's the way we like it." BIZARRE! It was also pretty weird that the clerk took a few minutes to figure out how to ring up a bottle of water. read more

This was my gas station, there was always older men very respectful and easy to ask for service until I encounter a new employee called Fred. He is so rude. I was in a hurry to buy gas since I had an appointment. I give my cash to this guy hoping that he will put the money in the gas station. I waited and nothing. He kept helping others and nothing. I went back like more than two times and he kept helping others. I got really impatient and upset. He said that I should not leave and it was my fault for not doing it properly. I think I know how to put gas for the past 30 years of my life. I think he is the one that needs more practice on how to do it. Because he couldn't figure it out then he said that he will refuse his services to me. I said fine then give me my money back. At the end he did it. It was horrible because I was rushing at this time just because Fred couldn't add the money to the gas station. Please train your new employees better and teach them about customer service. Every time I hit the road in the Bay Area, primarily while traveling along the Peninsula and in San Francisco, I cringe at the sight of gas prices. Coming from Southern California, I was used to "decently priced" gasoline at around $2.5-$2.6 a gallon at the most. This was also the case in the East Bay. However, when I moved down to Silicon Valley, prices skyrocketed to around $2.8 and even above $3 at some places. Luckily, Costco has been my saving grace. But where to go when Costco is closed (damn those early hours!)??? Every time I drive to work, I pass by a certain Arco station that will most likely have the cheapest gas around me in Sunnyvale (besides the Costco station on Lawrence). The price here has been around $2.79/gallon for the 87 regular. And so I decided to come here around 8pm after driving back from San Francisco. When I popped in, there were a number of cars filling gas but I was able to find a pump. However, many things were amiss. I guess this is a big thing nowadays for Arco, but this station requires you to pay debit if you are paying card, plus there is a $0.35 transaction fee. That is a huge bummer, so bring cash... And the even worse part about this pump is that there's like one central payment hub for every group of pumps. This means that you have to share a payment station with four other people who are pumping. This sounds okay, but I feel like security issues can arise. On top of that, I had some difficulty collecting my receipt from the payment station after I filled, even though I KEPT PRESSING that damn button that says "print receipt." All in all, I would only come to this Arco if it is a must. It's the cheapest one out of all the non-Costco stations. But if I had a choice between this Arco and Costco, forget this Arco. I would give zero stars if I could. One of my friends and I came here last weekend with her rental car to fill it up before returning it. She recently had her debit card hacked, so she was using cash everywhere. We estimated that the total to fill the tank was close to $40, and put that amount into the cash machine. The cost turned out to be $36.74. The cash machine couldn't give us a receipt nor change - it told us to go inside to get change and a receipt. We went inside to get a receipt and change - my friend asked the clerk, "Could I please have change and a receipt?" and the clerk only handed her a receipt. She asked again for change, and he snapped, "You didn't ask for change, only a receipt, so that's why I didn't give you any change." She politely stated that she had asked for both, and the clerk rolled his eyes as he opened the cash register to get her change. He practically tossed the money into my friend's hand, and he glared at us as we walked out the door. To top it off, as we got back into the rental car, two cars that were driving through the gas station missed hitting our car by inches. The water and squeegees were dirty, and they had run out of paper towels. They don't take credit cards here. I hadn't been here for nearly a year (due to cranky and rude clerks). I should've stayed away. FYI The Shell station in Sunnyvale on Sunnyvale Saratoga and Fremont charges similar prices (according to both my GasBuddy app and what I've confirmed by driving past both stations numerous times on my way to Trader Joe's), and they aren't rude and unethical like this place is. read more

My battery died after I filled my car with gas at Arco. I could not believe it and of course there was a line behind me. I'm a Handicap person but I went over to the window to pay for the gas and get the receipt. The man said he would come out and help me push the car out of the way so people could still fill up. He was nice enough to push my car all the way off to the side. It was awfully nice of him, and my car is not exactly a lightweight. I had to call AAA battery service to come and exchange my battery. The attendant came out three times to check on me to make sure everything was OK. Really made me feel good that he was keeping an eye on me. When the AAA battery man got there he told me that it would only took him 20 minutes to exchange my battery and do all the stuff Like cleaning The cables and other things. This is a great service and I recommend it. The battery has a warranty for replacement for three years and then it's prorated after that. I give that Arco attendant five gold stars As I do the AAA tech. Thank you all. read more

Arco is one of the cheaper gas places in the surrounding area of Sunnyvale/Cupertino. It has great prices, and quick service. But be warned, Homestead and Sunnyvale-Saratoga can definitely be crowded and not easy to get in and out of quickly. There are not too many pumps so you might be waiting for one. They have a car wash here as well, and a nice little store. No complaints. read more

Yes all these places are the same. Arco's are a hit and miss in less you get it with the AMPM store in it. Which this location does not offer. However they do have the whole "repair" part of the store going on here. The biggest downside of this location is that its hard to pull into this station. You have to be on the right side of the street to get into the gas station or else you go over the double yellows and bam ticket! How I have seen this happen to people trying to get into this location. The gas is about 10 to 15 cents cheaper than some of the other places in town. The employee's inside are never that nice, or even know what your talking about. easier to pay with the atm/cash machine then have to go inside and talk to the people. The things that bother me most about this location happens to be people are pumping gas with no shoes on, and a lot of nursers seem to hit up this stop for gas and are always in a hurry I had my car tapped once at this location. ((Oh well I guess)) If this is the gas station I need to hit on the way to my parents house I hit it up but its not my favorite location at all. read more

Simple technological advances such as these differentiate us from primitive animals. I think I lowered my IQ by 5 points by visiting this station. 2/10 would not pump. They do take credit cards! at least the garage section accepts credit cards. Gas purchases are another story, they only accept Cash/Debit/ATM for gas which is common for ARCO's. I highly recommend Mike The Mechanic that is part of the gas station. I have taken my car here on several occasions now and I have never had issues. The oil change today cost only $22.00 dollars. He has changed the timing belt, water pump and various other repairs that I forgotten about. He seems like a honest guy with no intentions of doing unnecessary repairs. His repair costs are usually $80 less than most other repair shops and probably $1,000 less than most dealerships. The turnaround time is very quick as well. I always have the car back within the hours indicated. I'm taking one star off for the lack of courtesy calls to inform me the car is finished and ready for pickup. If you must wait, they have assortment of chairs outside on the side of gas station (shaded). They also have two picnic tables near the side of the fence. There is not much to do in the area surrounding Arco, unless you're a fan of Little Ceasar's or a die-hard Slurpee drinker (7-Eleven). read more

Much better service and pricing than at the dealership! I wish I had learned about this place earlier. I have been taking my car to the dealer for service but I was fed up recently with their high prices. I first started to take my car to the Arco for smog tests, but then I found out that they do all kinds of repairs and regular service as well, and I have been a fan ever since. They have repaired a "check engine" problem on my car - for one third of the estimated dealer price. I also got the replaced parts - something that my dealer never did. Overall, I was impressed by their friendliness and service. It is usually not very busy, so you can just drop off your car and wait for it. Smog test is done in 20 min, and regular service in one hour. This is a tiny place, next to the gas station, but they have some chairs and a restroom if you want to wait. read more

Mike & Hoang in the car repair shop are great guys! I had a radiator & water pump leak, it's 4:42pm and they close at 5pm. Hoang just went to San Jose from Sunnyvale just to get the part!! They run out to get a part because they were delivered the wrong one, just so I can get home!! They also try to save you money if they can get an after market part too! Terrible mechanic. Do not ever take your car here. He has no idea how to do anything more than an oil change or a smog check. (In my experience) I came in to change my starter. When I picked it up, It started great. Then, I noticed my engine light was on & my car started kicking whenever I would change shifts.. My car was never like this. So i brought it back. He told me the motor mount was cracked & needed to be replaced. So i paid for that, no problem. But The problem was still there. Told him to take a look, turns out another 2 motor mounts were broken... So he changed those, and when I came to pick it up.. MY SHIFT WOULD NOT MOVE FROM PARK TO DRIVE! He told me my car was "crazy", and that I should just buy a new one. It's an Acura at 135k miles... I shouldn't need to go "buy a new one" just yet.. So he gave me a screwdriver and told me to jam that into the gear to move my car. & thats how I left the mechanic shop. What a f*cking joke!! read more

Stopped at Arco, Mike checked it over immediately as he could smell coolant, he put it up on the ramps and found / showed me where the radiator had blown. I have been coming to this arco for smog checks since 2004 and have always had an absolutely positive experience. The mechanic is knowledgeable, empathetic and very friendly. I recently moved to Cupertino but couldn't find anyone who offered smog checks for the same low price. Strongly recommend this Arco smog station.
