Needed two new front tires for my 2015 BMW X5. I ordered on eBay, and once I completed my order, an offer popped up from a service "CarAdvise" to have them mounted and balanced at at a shop near my home. Wheel Works on the Alameda was on that list which was just a few blocks from my house, I thought great! Paid $60 more for the service. Made an appointment, and my appointment for noon on April 19th was confirmed. Again I thought great! Headed over, dropped my car a bit before noon. I asked "How long it may take?" Nick told me "It done by the end of the day." I thought, hmmmm... But I have an appointment. I just let it slide. Called my girl she picked me up. We did have something to do that day, so I thought no big deal. Now before I left, I did confirm with Nick, "What time is end of day, and what time do they close?" 5:00 p.m. Now 4:30 p.m. rolls around. No call from Wheel Works. I called them. Nick went into a whole thing about to make excuses about why my car wasn't done, but I let him know "It was no big deal, I could pick it up tomorrow." His tone changed and let me know that "That was cool, and that would really help them out." He also let me know that he would make sure it was done firs thing in the morning. Next day rolls around April 20th. Lucky for me, it's my day off. First thing I thought of that morning was the status of my car. I thought like most businesses they may be opening at 9:00 a.m. I googled and they opened at 7:00 a.m. I thought cool, they should be about done. I missed Nick's call around 10:30 a.m. I called back a few minutes later, Spoke to Nick again. He let me know "That it would be done by the first half of the day." (Reminder: I was already told the previous evening that "It would be done first thing in the morning") 2:00 p.m. rolls around. I called the check on status, I was told that "It was being worked on and will be done in about 45 minutes." Now I started to say... I'll be there to pick it up at 3:00. But again I let it slide. 4:00 p.m. rolls around. I call. I was told that "It had been done, and they called me." I had no missed calls. But anyways I throw a hoodie on, my girl takes me down and drops me off. Yes, my car was finally ready.... 28 FUCKIN' HOURS LATER!!!!! I could have, and should have just had them delivered to my house, and then took them over to Calderon's over on Bascom and had that shit done in less than an hour! I later get a call from the shop confirming my appointment, I got to the shop and was told that the tires were not in stock but I could wait a few hours for them to get the tires. Two plus years ago I bought a lifetime wheel alignment service. After my first appointment my car came back with a worse pull to the left then before. I was told I needed adjustable control arms so I had some installed and I went back for a second appointment. After my second appointment it was a slightly less pull and they said it was the best that could be done. Fast forward two years a different shop was able to align my car completely straight (No new parts, same tires, nothing steering of suspension related replaced). So I drove around for years with a hard pull on my steering wheel everywhere I went and wore out my tires prematurely all because I didn't get what a payed for. Today I had my spark plugs replaced and with fuel system cleaning, oil change, break fluid exchange, coolant fluid exchange, and full car inspection all for a super reasonable price. This wheel works location has the best front desk manager, Tien, who takes really good care of you. I feel the biggest relief that my car is all taken care of and she'll longer with better gas miles. Every costumer I observed leaving today was happy with this location. Another worker says he will be right with me and walks out to see what's going on with the lady's car issue. It has been over a month. They have only provided a refund for one charge. Every time I call, they can't help me. They gave me the owner's number. Arrived at 7:30am on 8/30/22 to find the place completely locked-up, even though they are supposed to open at 7am and there was no signage or notices indicating otherwise. A few other customers arrived, clearly experiencing similar confusion, and I noticed one or two people who looked like mechanics milling around in the parking lot as well. After talking with one of them, we found out that the manager who was working that day regularly doesn't arrive until 8am, leaving customers and even his own employees waiting around aimlessly until he decides to show up. A delivery driver pulled up shortly after and even he was forced to wait around until the place finally opened. Customers began to leave after 15-20 minutes and while we tried to wait as long as we could, by 8:15am we couldn't wait any longer and had to depart, leaving behind one excessively patient customer and a few frustrated mechanics to twiddle their thumbs for who knows how long until the manager finally arrived. It's hard to imagine worse service than simply not showing up for your waiting customers and employees, especially at someplace as important as a tire-repair shop. This isn't the same as finding out you can't get your morning cup of coffee because the local Starbucks is closed; people plan their whole days around dropping off and picking up their cars to get necessary services and repairs, and you have a responsibility to be open and available when you say you are going to be. Incredibly disappointing and I would warn anyone looking for an auto shop to steer clear and try to find some place that actually wants to serve customers and operate a successful business. read more

These guys are very cunning and try to fleece as much as they can. They claim they give discounts etc but that is all drama. Jiffy lube will get the oil change in 30mins, but these guys need 3hrs. They will say some marketing junk to make you get their credit card saying half off on first oil change, then will not honor it. There is a board right at the door but they will create a drama and ditch the offer and say next time they will do it. I lost trust in these guys. read more

He said due to our verbal agreement in the morning and because my car had high mileage, the discount price of $29.99 with coupon, could not be honored. The oil change and oil used were standard. TLDR: Performed a wheel balance which didn't fix the problem, but they failed to tell me my wheel was severely bent and damaged. Wheel Works either lied to me, or they were too incompetent to tell the wheel was bent. My Tesla Model 3 was vibrating at highway speeds, so I took it in for a wheel balance. The tech completed the wheel balance and told me that they were way out of balance before (which was surprising, but I accepted). I got on the highway after picking up my car and it still vibrated, so I figured something else was wrong with the car. I took it to Tesla Service, and when they checked the wheel balance, they saw one wheel was severely bent and one wheel was mildly bent. They sent me video of the wheels spinning on the machine as proof. The Tesla tech said he was shocked that Wheel Works didn't notice. I'll never go back to any Wheels Works. read more

I had hoped that with so many new employees coming and going, they would eventually hire someone with better expertise and provide higher quality service. Regrettably, this has not been the case. I went in to replace a tire that had been demolished by an object in the road, damaging the rim in the process. Juan was very kind and kept me in the loop all day. I ended up needing all new tires and they were able to complete the work the same day. I was told by the tow operator I needed a new battery and they tested it and said it was fine. Horrible place!!! I brought my car in three times for AC service and they have never checked the interior cabin air filter, and that's the basic and should be the 1st part to check! They added Freon twice and AC didn't work. When I brought my car the 3rd time, they told me to change the compressor. Then a friend check it this weekend and he found out the air filter is clogged badly! They also did the oil change last November and they didn't check the air filter either. I can't believe it. I've worked with Wheel Works for over a decade with four different vehicles. I've had great and terrible experiences. I've now decided to move on. I recently brought my car in for a flat tire fix. It took them the entire day and they didn't even call to tell me when it was done. I ended up picking it up just before they closed. As I left the parking lot, I saw a warning light was lit. I was tired and annoyed and didn't want to deal with it, so I left. When I took it to my mechanic, he explained the problem and how it was caused by the incorrect way they fixed my tire. It cost me $90 to fix and since it was related to traction control, had to be done. I emailed WW through their online link to share the problem and request reimbursement and I was completely ignored. This is not the first problem I've had with WW. I've continued returning because some of my experiences have been quite positive. But this last incident crosses a line, especially being ignored by corporate. They may or may not miss the thousands I spend on car repairs. Oh well. read more

She purchased her tires here (no problems) and returned for a tire rotation. This is where the problem lies. She has had ZERO problems with her hubcaps Suddenly Within 1 week of the tire rotation she lost ALL 4 of her hubcaps on different days. She only found one a few blocks from our home. When she called Wheel Works they said they weren't responsible for their (inferior) work. She is a still in college and working and can't afford $200+ for hubcaps when her deductible is $500. Man with just a little bit more effort in explaining things they would not have earned this harsh review but this is the kind of shit that pisses me off. So the battery in my car died. I wasn't 100% certain the battery was actually dead or just I left the lights on or something and it killed the battery. But not one need to take a chance, I went down to Costco and bought a new battery. On my way home it occurred to me that the battery I had that died in the car might still be under warranty and after calling Wheel Works (The place I bought it originally), I discovered that it was in fact under a 5-year warranty. So I told the guy on the phone, I was going to come down there and have him take a look to make sure that it is in fact the battery hoping it wasn't the alternator or starter but feeling pretty confident that it was probably the battery I drove down there, the guy I spoke to was kind of rude to me but I brushed that off, and he said that I would need to leave the car there all day long because they were short-staffed, which was going to be a problem for me because I had things to do later on on a Friday night, but I agreed to leave it and have them evaluate to make sure that it was in fact the battery and not some other problem. I walk home, call them up a little later with urgency to get the battery looked at, to determine whether or not I could get a replacement battery or not or if it was some other problem. Eventually I got a call back, and the guy on the phone said that it was going to cost me $179+- to replace the battery. I then said but wait I thought it was under warranty. And he said it is under a warranty, but this is the prorated amount for the new battery. The guy on the phone earlier in the morning, nor did the guy at the store when I walked in, mentioned anything about a replacement battery if found to be defective would cost me a prorated amount to replace it. So basically they wasted my entire day because the prorated amount for that battery was going to cost me $179. I don't know what the original cost of that battery was, but the one I got from Costco was $139 so there prorated amount was way more expensive than the cost of the new one at Costco but that's not even the point. The point, and the reason why I'm giving them such low review is the fact that they never bothered to mention anything about the fact that if they did determine the battery was the problem that they could replace it at a prorated amount. The tiny little detail could have saved all this. Basically what this boils down to, is that you don't really have a warranty on a battery with Wheel Works. What you really have is that if the battery is defective they will sell you a new one at a lower rate. That does not sound like a warranty to me, maybe it's common knowledge that when you have a 5-year warranty on a battery and the battery dies after 3 and 1/2 years that you're going to be paying for something under that warranty but if that's true it should have been better explained. If the guy on the phone the first time I called had even mentioned that I would have thought it's a bummer that it's a prorated amount, but I could have just gone home and installed the one I got from Costco and called it a day. But because they didn't even bother to tell me that, I ended up having to argue with the guy on the phone and wasting 5 hours. read more

Worse place ever! I was only going here because location was convenient. I dropped off my car for an oil change last Saturday 11/26 and they called me almost two hours later stating "vehicle has a special type drain plug we need. it's a unique tool to remove the drain plug but the mechanic that has it was actually off today" WHAT?!! Never heard of this. So they didn't get to do the oil change! I went to a different shop that is private owned today 12/3 and waited for my car to be done. During the oil change process, they stopped and came up to me to ask " where did you last service your car?" So I said wheel works but they were not able to service due to special drain plug that was needed and a mechanic had it so therefore they were not able to do an oil change. They wanted me to take a look at the drain plug and it looked like WHEEL WORKS MESSED UP my drain plug and didn't use the correct socket wrench!! So I know for a fact that wheel works LIED bout the mechanic not being in because of a special tool.... THEY LIED to cover up on something they did WRONG! Unbelievable! Luckily the other place was able to fix it and replace the drain plug for free!!!! Unlike wheel works- they charge for extra things!!! And will not tell you what they did wrong!! honestly, save your breath and do NOT come to this location. we scheduled an appointment with them for an oil change (ONLY) at 12 and arrived on time. we were told it would take roughly 2 hours because there were a lot of cars before us. i asked them if they could give me an estimate of the absolute latest we would get the car back and they told us 3. 3 runs around and my car is still sitting in the same exact spot. we had to ask a couple times until my car was finally deemed important enough to be seen. my car was pulled in around 3:15 and they pulled it back out at around 3:38. the fact that it only took around 20 minutes to do but they left it waiting for over 3 hours is a little shocking. they make it seem like you're being a bother and are in the wrong for asking about the status of your car, which doesn't seem too valid since we are clearly instructed to get an estimate in the confirmation email. by them, i am specifically referring to the person operating the front in the beanie. i don't blame the mechanics in this situation. i feel like whoever was in charge of scheduling the appointments and walk-ins overbooked. read more

Never again. My wife and I have been using this wheel works since 2010, when I lived blocks away from this location. I've always had wonderful customer service from Tracy, who was the previous service person I worked with. We've also spent THOUSANDS of dollars on our cars here (we've serviced at least 5 I can remember), including tire changes, full engine services, oil changes, alignments. You name it, we've gotten it done there. Over the course of the pandemic it slowly got worse. I called two days ago to schedule an appointment to get tires, an alignment and an oil change. Normally they let me drop the vehicle off at 7:00 AM because I prefer early morning drop off. The guy that took my call said that a technician wouldn't be there until 8:00 AM, but I could leave it there. Enter stage left Bernadette. Bernadette left me a message saying she didn't understand why anyone would schedule me for an appointment for 7:00 AM and asked me to call back. I called back, and explained to her how they scheduled me to drop off the car at 7:00 AM but that they would work on it when the technician came in. Bernadette told me that the technician that was normally scheduled injured himself over the weekend (unfortunate circumstances) and that because of that no one would service my car. I said, that's fine, and then I asked time will someone be able to service my car? She said later that morning. I explained my situation because the car is a van and it's our only transport vehicle for our 3 kids, and wanted to see what drop off and pickup would be like. She said if I leave my car in the morning, there's no guarantee that my car would be serviced first. I somewhat disturbingly reminded her that I had an appointment for 7:00 AM, and that since I was the first one scheduled, I should be the first one seen. She told me that wasn't the case and that it would be a first come first served service. I responded and told her that since I'm the first one scheduled, why wouldn't I be the first one serviced if I'm on time. I asked her to confirm, and she proceeded to hang up on me and tell me she didn't need to talk to me. I'm sad that I've always loved bringing my car here, but now the customer service sucks.
