Almost every nook and corner was instagrammable and gave off vintage vibes. We ordered the croissant, ginseng latte and a Cortado. The croissant was good but it would have helped if they had warmed it up for us. The Cortado was nice and strong and gave the kick to survive the rest of the evening. The ginseng latte was out of this world. It kind of tasted like a birthday cake in a cup with just the right amount of sweetness. The service was a bit chaotic though since there was a bit of the rush, but regardless, we had a great experience and loved the aesthetics of this cafe. 10/10 recommend.

The breakfast platter was very good as well, a sampler of flavorful things. Although we decided the baguette was not the best we've ever had. Gave this platter an A-. We also got the sandwich au jambon which was good, but could've been better with better flavor combos. Still great quality. Loved the ham here. Also highly recommend the chai latte.

I suppose everything is fresh, bla bla bla, but the overall feeling is not that good, after eating there more than a couple of times. I will go again because it's the restaurant near my bureau and i digg this kind of food more than burgers and fries, so that's a plus!

It is a prime location as right by Place des Arts metro station and close to many office buildings. Our company frequently orders from here during lunch meetings - the lunchboxes are pretty good and very filling. They usually come with a sandwich/panini of some type (I love the ciabatta ones), choice of soup or salads and choice of cookie. The salads are delicious and very fresh. They come packed in La Prep boxes which are very handy, especially for take-out or catered lunches. I am not too impressed by the inside choices/prices however. They have a very large place with not much variety on their menu and the selection seems basic. I found them a little on the pricier side for what you get. For breakfast or lunch, there are much more nicer options in the area.

The Short Version: Cafe located on the ground floor of an…read moreoffice building. Popular with office workers. Food is delicious and prices are affordable. The Long Version: When I travel, I like to eat where the locals eat. I love those places that cater to the office workers and are only open Mondays through Fridays and are closed in the evenings. The catch is since I no longer live in Montreal, when I'm in Montreal, it's usually on the weekends. However, recently my husband and I were in Montreal on a Monday and Tuesday and we had lunch at Cafe du Parquet. The restaurant is in the CDP Capital Centre (it has since been renamed the Jacques-Parizeau Building, but people who lived somewhere and then left will understand how I forever call things the name they were when I was living there (#SkydomeForever, but that's another story for another time, lol)). Their menu changes daily and apparently on Fridays they have Filet Mignon for under $25. We arrived at 11am and their lunch options weren't quite ready yet, so we walked around Old Montreal a bit and returned at 11:30am. By the time we left a little after noon there was a huge lineup. I got the Salmon ($15.50) and my husband got the General Tao Chicken ($14.50). So the way it works is you order your hot dish from the staff serving it. You tell them whether it's to eat in (will be served on a ceramic plate) or to-go (will be served in a takeout box). For each hot dish, you get 2 sides from the hot table and these you serve yourself. If you're eating in you pay at the cashier at the back (the area that leads to the dine-in seating). If you're taking out, you pay at the cashier at the front, near the entrance/exit to the cafe. If you're eating in, after you're done you put your own tray away in the designated slots in the wall. For my sides, I got Brussels sprouts and vegetables (bell peppers, zucchini, carrots, cauliflower and broccoli). My husband got rice and vegetables. I love that they have free self-serve water. They even have branded glasses. My salmon was delicious. It was perfectly cooked and was a generous portion. The side were also tasty, although a bit heavy on the oil. My husband enjoyed his meal. I tasted some of his General Tao Chicken and while it had zero spiciness, it had a sweet and tangy flavour and was crispy on the outside. The batter wasn't too excessive and the meat was not gristley. I would get this dish for myself. The rice was unremarkable. Service was a bit surly, lol. But food was delicious and prices reasonable, so that's ok. Maybe they were having a bad day. I would love to return to try other items, particularly their Filet Mignon on Fridays. It is located in a very nice area with a beautiful market near it which is perfect for walks, especially during the summer. The coffee shop itself is beautiful, very nice seating area and a lot of space. It is perfect if you want to study because it's very cosy, but it's also good if you're grabbing lunch quickly or coffee on the go. I have tried their smoked salmon sandwich and a kale/beet salad which were both very delicious. The only issue I had was the price, I thought it was a bit pricier than other coffee shops or places where you can grab lunch quickly. Despite that, I can understand since it's a local coffee shop and everything they have is high quality and fresh. Their iced coffee is more of an iced cappuccino with crushed ice... So if you want something liquid like coffee with ice, I would recommend getting an iced latte. It was delicious, and they had a lot of options for people like me who are lactose intolerant (almond milk, soy milk, lactose-free, coco milk, oat milk, etc.) The staff is extremely nice. They're very knowledgeable and incredibly helpful. The first time I went there, the girl explained everything to me and how the café started and she looked very passionate which showed me that she liked her job. The only issue I'd have with this place is their opening hours. During the winter, if you're planning on late-night studying there, it doesn't open as late as other coffee places, but that's to be expected with local coffee shops like this one.
