The amazing coffee shop on wheels!
Issan Z.

Fantastic coffee and even more fantastic coffee-bike!! Café Pista was present at the festival Mode et Design and showed off their clever (and environmentally friendly!) coffee shop on wheels. The barista simply used a pedal or some sort of handle to produce mechanical energy, and then electricity for the coffee machine to work. Super cool!!

The food here is really earthy and rich in flavor. We had to order 3 meals because it's too hard to pick on one meal per person. We came 2 times too. Arrive early because a line forms on the weekends. We love the bagel gravlax- the salmon is cured in salt as opposed to the traditional Smokey flavor NY has. We also loves the Tartine Ricotta- fresh ricotta with nuts and earthy berries. We highly recommend. Enjoy!

Chai latte

I came here to study an afternoon with my brother. I had their chai latte and really loved the little design they did on my cup. The personnel is very friendly, big smile and welcoming! I enjoyed the design of the coffeeshop, it was cozy. I also had their meal of the day, and it was super tasty !! I really liked the setting of the coffee and the two big tables. I also saw that the personnel helps people to find a place, and will ask customers to move their belongings if they are taking too much place on a table for example. Location is very convenient, easily accessible by bus, metro and car (street parking was easy to find). Noise level was perfect to work too.

This place is beautiful, as all the other reviewers said. The coffee is amazing, smokey, a bit sour, and deliciously succulent. I had a very good cappuccino, and linger a bit longer than I should, to write. The sitting area internet was fast, and the seating area had a good amount of computer plugs. Would return to work and enjoy a coffee with friends :).

Came here to find a nice place to work a bit before a practice in the afternoon. First impressions: the outside was super cute, painted a light turquoise (my favourite colour!) - when I walked in, the space was a lot bigger than I expected, and it was quite busy for a Monday afternoon. There were both people chatting and working, and I don't remember exactly what music was playing, but it was relaxing and good for studying. I think it may have been jazz? There was great natural lighting near the front of the cafe, and there was an entire back section/room with small tables. After ordering an americano, I picked a bar stool facing the window and got work. Maybe it was the coffee, or maybe it was the atmosphere, but I got a lot of work done. Super enjoyable afternoon here!

Croissant dej et tartine d'avocat

I went here with my friend for brunch, and the cafe is adorable. She got the croissant dej sandwich and I ordered the tartine avocat with a poached egg. My tartine wasn't spectacular, but it was good! What I really like about this place is the atmosphere - it's not too noisy, has no wait and it serves great coffee. There is also a cute separate study/workspace that I suggest checking out.

Cute cafe with lots of drink options & bites. I had the chai latte with almond milk and the ovo toast which was scrumptious. The cafe is really pretty and clean, near the metro which is always a plus. Highly recommend

This café is always crowded, from early morning to late afternoon, and super super hyped! It's next to Beaubien station, The extremity of the vibrant Mile End, and Cafe Pista is located inside a stylish house on Beaubien street. Several façades of the café are made of panoramic glass, so it offers a great amount of light inside. The tables inside the cafe are really close to each other, but even then, it's hard to find a spot to sit since it's so busy. Their coffee is good and really well known too, along with their very cute avocado toast made with colourful ingredients. I like the tasteful decoration inside the cafe and the beautiful plants that adorn the space, but my biggest complaint is the lack of space, which discourages me to go there, even during the week.

Croissant dej

I went there to study with a friend. The decor is cite anhas a nice and cozy atmosphere and nice lighting. The noise level is lioe background buzz, not too loud nor distracting. The shop isn't too busy around noon, but in the afternoon it suddenly gets full. The food is aesthetic and delicious. I got the croissant dej while my friend got the grilled cheese. We both got a flat white, but with different beans. The staff is very friendly and welcoming.

Enjoying our chai latte
Shazia K.

A cute little cafe with excellent service. Unfortunately, my friend and I showed up past 3pm and the kitchen was closed. So we grabbed a seat by the windows and enjoyed a really good cup of chai latte. The cafe itself is quite tiny but cozy. Many people on their laptops studying so we kept our voices down but it was an enjoyable experience nonetheless. Definitely going back to try some food next time.

Cortado

Avocado tartine is delicious. Add cortado to it, and here is the perfect way to start your day! Enjoy!

Delicious coffee, teas, and breakfast. Came most days while visiting Montreal for either a coffee pit-stop or sit-down coffee and breakfast.

But before even checking in, we had to walk through Bar George ~ and instantly knew we wanted to eat there. We were lucky enough to grab a last-minute reservation, and Julien took a good care of us throughout the evening. His recommendation of the Beef Wellington was spot on (it's already one of our favorite dishes), but this was hands down the best we've ever had. I ordered the lobster risotto, which was excellent with just the right amount of spice. My son had the 10 oz striploin steak with homemade fries (chips), and it was absolutely delicious. I also loved the Canadian touch of coarse salt on the steak, plus the option to choose between Béarnaise or peppercorn sauce. Julien also mentioned their pastry chef placed second in a NY competition, and the desserts absolutely lived up to that reputation. We tried the pineapple and coconut pavlova and the "lick me hazelnut" ~ both beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. We also ordered iced coffee and a latte, and noticed something interesting: this was the second place where we found Canadian coffee to be smooth and mild ~ such a nice change from the often bitter, over-roasted American coffee. Yes, dinner was a bit steep ($300+), but it was worth every penny. Between the rich history, stunning design, outstanding service, and unique cuisine, I would highly recommend Bar George. I would absolutely love to come back!!

The restaurant didn't provide a high chair for our baby, which was a bit disappointing. The service was good with our waitress checking with us to order and being prompt and attentive. Here is what we ordered: Grilled Cheese O+G (8/10) - the bread with the grilled cheese and caramelized onions were cooked well. The homemade ketchup had a sweet taste to it and was brought out a little colder than room temperature. I probably would have preferred the ketchup/tomato sauce to be a bit warmer. The Chicken Melt (8/10) - this sandwich was pretty big. It had grilled chicken in a creamy sauce, some Cole slaw (actually a lot of Cole slaw) and some dill pickles. The sandwich was a bit messy to eat and I think it had a little too much Cole slaw, but it was a good sandwich, nonetheless. Overall, I good experience with a few suggestions in my review that I think would have made it really great.

I stayed there recently, and on the morning of my check-out I received a phone call with devastating news about a life-threatening medical emergency in my immediate family. I was on the phone trying to resolve the problem with Emergency Room doctors and lost track of the time. When I received a call from the hotel management to inform me that I had overstayed my time in the room, I raced at lightening speed to clear out of the room. Minutes later, I cleared out of the room, which I left immaculate and ready to be sold to another guest. I departed the room well before the 4pm check-in time for new guests; I checked out just 2 hours late (literally it was 2 hours). They nonetheless slapped me with a $60 fine for this very small, very human error. It was one of the worst days of my life, I was in tears and begged them not to charge me. I am also disabled and they not only refused to remove the $60 fine, they also did not help me with my bags when my taxi came, they let me limp and drag my own luggage to the curb. I am beyond shocked at this cruelty and greed, at this utter lack of compassion and inability to relate to a fellow human being as anything other than a cash cow. I will never forget being treated this way when I was in distress. Also the breakfast is terrible and overpriced; the coffee was cold, the fruit was flavorless and dried out, there were few fresh and healthy choices, mostly ultra processed yoghurt and cereals, commercialized white bread. All for $25, way too much in a city with such incredible food. I do not enjoy giving negative reviews, and I tried to resolve this both in person and on the phone subsequently and was met with cold indifference at every turn.

My goal was to eat as much foe grais as I can on this trip so I ordered the Foie Gras Poached Eggs. OMG starting off with the bread that was on the bottom, it was so soft and fluffy. Literally melted in my mouth. The foie gras had a beautiful sear and was rich and silky, with a texture that honestly reminded me of ice cream. There was also a touch of sweetness in the sauce that cut through the richness in the best way. Every bite was perfectly balanced. I was super impressed and will absolutely try to visit again the next time I'm in Montreal.
