My sister and I love our biking dates during the summer time so we were happy to use our Passport Barista to discover little independent cafes in our city. We had just finished brunch and decided to find a cute cafe nearby and decided to check out Le Loup Bleu.
Good: Upon arrival, we've immediately took a liking to the decor. It's cozy, clean, has seats inside and on the terrasse. It looked like the perfect little summer spot to hang out at because they also have ice cream...and then things started going downhill.
Bad: There was only one person at the counter, so there was a bit of a wait in line. No problem, we've worked in the food industry before, these things happen, so we didn't mind. When it was our turn to order, the barista explained that they can't make iced tea or iced americano at the moment because there was no ice. Ok, it happens, again we didn't mind, we ordered it hot. As we're about to add ice cream to our order, the barista completely ignored us to talk to the previous customers. Ok, it happens, sometimes we see our friends and get a little chatty, so we brushed it off. We waited until he finishes chatting and proceed to ask about adding ice cream to our order.
"Excuse me, can we also get-"
"Sorry, I have to take these customers [that were behind us], they've been waiting for awhile"
Ummm what? So were we?! We got our tea, but felt completely dismissed when we didn't even finish our order. My sister and I were kinda shocked to be brushed off completely, it felt like discrimination. We took our drinks and sat down at our table. As we're leaving, we had the barista stamp our passport, I politely told him:
"Excuse me, your behaviour earlier was a bit rude and uncalled for."
"Who's?" *shocked expression*
"Yours. We wanted to order ice cream and you've completely dismissed us for the other customers behind us."
"yeah, they've been waiting in line for ice cream."
"so were we..."
"well you got your drinks, so you can go to the back of the line for ice cream."
"wow, okay..." was all I could say.
At this point, I knew I am arguing with a wall. This guy has no concept of customer service, so I just walked to leave. He shouts 'Thank you, have a nice life!" in the most passive aggressive way. I'm a very calm and cordial person, I don't really lose my cool, but this probably tops one of the rudest encounters I've ever came across.
Bottom line: I will take my business elsewhere. read more
