I was staying at the Hilton where this restaurant was located. My sister and I shared three small plates: fried calamari and hot peppers, grilled asparagus and grilled broccoli. Very tasty and fresh. It was a Friday evening, and a man was playing acoustic guitar and singing Spanish songs. It was a delightful evening. read more

Being a hotel lobby restaurant, I didn't have high expectations. Oliver was our waiter and he was absolute pleasure! We got an excellent service. And the yummy food to top it off. Recommend this restaurant for a night out for good food and excellent service. Ambience is nice as well; open concept and modern. read more

When you think about Spanish Cuisine you expect flavors that not only entertain your pallet but also all of your senses simultaneously, Matadora has not only exceeded my expectations but also has managed to take me back in my mind and memories to my childhood, the precise execution that is needed to execute this cuisine properly is evident and displayed here at Matadora headed by Steven Coe and his brigade, needless to say that if you are in the Woburn area this place is a must, I hope that when you dine here you get transported and inspired to see this cuisine in a different light. Also want to thank Bryan Mcelhiney and Robin for their warm hospitality and their Passion which is something you cannot teach!!!! read more

Awesome food, awesome service. I've been several times, and have always found them to be consistent. Especially love the outdoor seating during the fall. read more

I had the chance to eat at Matadora again before leaving Boston. As always the food is exceptional. The shrimp toast is outanding. As other reviewers have commented, the service can be exceptionally slow. Don't let that discourage you, just allow plenty of time for the wonderful food and charming atmosphere. Order another glass of wine and listen to the lovely spanish guitarist, the wait will be worth it. read more

Not a good experience tonight. Everything was unbearably salty. Fritas, calamari, chorizo, almonds... same across the board. Our waitress didnt bring our check without us flagging the hostess (after 15+ minutes of empty plates and glasses and requesting the bill), and then never came back for the card. Also minus half a point for the table next to us taking Instagram worthy photos for THIRTY MINUTES too, sitting, standing, posing, walking around the table, taking your plates to different locations for lighting changes... sit down and stop leaning on my table. Enjoy your cold salty tapas. Sincerely, your salty neighbor. read more

Atmosphere: 5 stars Food: 3 stars, good but overpriced Service: 2 stars The decor, music and ambiance was great, I'd probably come back here to sit at the bar and get a drink, but would not come back for dinner. We were sat very quickly and greeted by the server right away, but it seemed like there was just one server for the whole place. It took forever to get our food order in and we didn't end up eating for over an hour after we arrived. The first things we ordered were meats and cheeses and the portions were way to small for the number of people we had. They also served a portion of meat (serrano) that should not have been served at all, the top numb piece. The cheese was good, just small. The rest of the dishes we had were pretty tasty. Throughout the night we saw about 4 different runners deliver food to our table who were all very attentive, as was the general manager, but I wish some of the many people working there were servers instead of having just one working on a Saturday night. Overall it was too slow and overpriced for what it was for us to go back. read more

As far as hotel restaurants go this one has good food. Their wood grill does a fine job on grilled meats and vegetables. Their Spanish meats, cheeses and olives are a nice change. Wines by the glass are decent but well overpriced. Service can sometimes be slow, with long waits between visits by the servers. Far better than your average hotel restaurant, and better than many Main Street restaurants. I don't mind eating here when in town. If you're staying in the hotel it's worth a try. And if you're a solo business traveler you can bring your laptop and get caught up on work without it feeling weird - because it's in the hotel and it happens all the time. read more

I am a long time time hilton guy with lifetime diamond status. I have stayed at this hotel over 15 times this year. The Matadora is not my first choice as there are some great local restaurants but none as convenient. I have dined here a few times because of not wanting to leave the property. The bartender at Rivet is awesome so I will also stay because of her. That being said the steak frites is usually my favorite choice not because it's great but the chimichurri is actually good if not great. I found myself tired and just wanted to stay at the property so ordered the steak frites. The plate was delivered with a large glob of something but no chimichurri. I asked for my chimichurri and was told they didn't have any tonight. The steak was flavorless and the fries were horrible as always. If you aren't staying here don't bother coming here to eat. read more

The food is 5 stars. The service is 2 stars at best. I was staying at this hotel for a few days so I ate here 2 of the nights. The first night, a group of 4 of us sat at a table. We ordered drinks and charcuterie to start which was delicious. Then the 4 of us ordered food. 2 ordered entrees and 2 ordered tapas. We asked if everything could come out at the same time, the waitress said that it could. Then some of the food started arriving sporadically. Basically none of us were able to eat at the same time. Everything was delicious though. The street corn was some of the best I've had. Since the food was so good the other night, I decided to return tonight and sat at the bar. I was sitting for over 10 minutes before I had to ask the bartender if I could see a menu. It was about another 20 minutes before I was able to get his attention to take my drink order. The rest of the night continued that way. I was there over two hours just to get one drink and a salad. The bartender never checked on me so I ended up not being able to order an entree or another drink. It took over a half hour of my credit card sitting on the bar for me to be able to pay. I think they need some more help behind the bar. The food is top notch though. read more

Since it's Dine-Out Boston week my boyfriend and I with a few friend wanted to try this place out. I made reservations for 8pm on a Friday night knowing it might be busy. We all got there at 8pm sharp and the hostess told us that we still would have to wait another 20 mins before being seated. Once seated the waiter came over and told us that he would give us a minute to figure out drinks. 10 mins later is when he eventually came over to take our drink order. Then another 10 mins before taking our 1st course meal order. The first course- which is just a small plate with a slice of cheese, cured meat, olives, and nuts- took over 30 mins to arrive to the table. It was "OK", definitely not the best cheese and meats plate I've ever had. After finishing our 1st course the waiter came over and cleared our plates and said "Your food should be right out." Mind you... we still hadn't ordered any 2nd courses and we had already been there for over an hour. After trying to catch our waiters attention for another 20 mins we were finally able to put in our 2nd course meal order. This then took another 30 mins for two dishes to come out. The fried potato pieces were under cooked, the flaming chorizo was mediocre, and everything else was just "OK". The manager even came over with a dish and just said to us "sorry for all the inconveniences tonight" and walked away. We didn't even want the desert because we just wanted to get out of there. Overall, my party and I were there for over 2 and a half hours and only 30 mins of that was actually eating. If it wasn't for the horrible service I would have maybe considered coming back. This place is very expensive, the cocktails were not great and the food was subpar. Overall it was one of the worst dining experiences we have all had. read more

We went back again thanks to manager Chris DeStefano asking us to. (After not great service on our 2nd visit) The food is out of this world. The grilled oysters are so yummy. The calamari is delicious. The Spanish foie gras is amazing. The mussels and that sherry sauce is so tasty you need more bread to sop it all up. Oliver our server had the best smile and got us everything we wanted, even fresh tapas plates after the mussels. We had entrees as well- Steak Barcelona And The pork Chop. We took another couple with us and the free form lobster ravioli was totally eaten! Since we were four we were seated at a banquette which is very nice. We managed to eat dessert somehow! Creme brûlée and the friends had the cookies. Champagne and cocktails were lovely. There was a guy playing guitar and singing as well. Don't be put off by the fact it is in a Hilton. Just don't let them sit you at the bar area. Nothing but compliments this time. Please keep up the level of service every time. Thanks for everything. read more

I went to Matadora for dinner with my husband. It is located inside the Hilton hotel in Woburn. The bull at the entrance of the restaurant is impressive, it's made from what looks like, scrap metal. It's fascinating! We had a reservation and were seated right away, I asked for a booth and they complied without hesitation. Our waitress was very nice, she was friendly and asked how we were doing a couple of times but wasn't invasive and she let us enjoy our dinner and time together. The music is at the right volume, the bar area is cool and overall it has great ambiance. The hotel rooms have balconies that look at the restaurant, so I do wonder if those guests have any trouble with the music and/or food smell. Onto the food: we had the Lomo Embuchado, Shrimp Toast, Allepo Fried Calamari, Spicy Tuna Tartar, Charred Galician Octopus, Wood Charred Shishito Peppers, and Seared Wild Mushrooms. The calamari, octopus, and shishito peppers were my favorite. I hate olives but ate every single olive in these dishes! They are delicious. The wild mushrooms were my least favorite, a bit salty and too oily. Also, we missed the fact that the Lomo is dry and when they brought it to us we confused it with chorizo because we had talked about it, but didn't realize we didn't order it. We asked about the Lomo and they brought it again, they didn't charge us for it, although it had been clearly our mistake. We had 2 drinks with all the food I mentioned above and our bill was around $180 (including 20% tip). read more

The food was good but the restaurant was too busy for the staff. Our server was all over the place. way too many tables to handle. our second round of drinks were so slow that our dinner was finished for more than 15 minutes before we saw our server again who came to tell us that he'd check on our drink again. it's a shame that it ruined an otherwise good meal. I doubt we'll come back for fear of a repeat of tonite's poor impression. read more

Agree with other reviews posted. Terrific food - horrible service. Really bad. Despite great food - some of the worst service I've experienced. Typical hotel restaurant/bar. Nothing special. Food was decent, drinks were weak but both were overpriced. The service was ok but lacked experience in the drink department. Bartenders couldn't make any of the classic cocktails. I ordered an old fashioned and it was a bourbon poured over half melted ice cubes my friend got a Manhattan and the bartender must have used dry vermouth because it tasted terrible. The place has potential but they need bartenders who can make a drink. The bartender looked very confused whenever i tryied to order a drink. read more

While the ambiance is great the food leaves something to be desired. Everything tasted like there was a handful of salt sprinkled on top of everything. The filet came out undercooked compared the requested temperature but was really the only highlight to the meal. Even if staying at the Hilton, I would avoid this place. The quality of food was poor compared to the price paid read more

This is NOT a hotel restaurant/bar! I travel globally for business and I have stayed in this Hilton a few times and the addition of this restaurant is absolutely off the charts. I would normally drive to other towns for dinner after a long work day. No need to now that the Hilton has engaged this dynamic Spanish cooking style. Last night I had Paella that was better than the paella I had in Valencia, Spain 3 months ago. Matadora's was chock full of seafood and was dense. I don't like liquidy paella. Amazing! My guest had the lobster stuffed ravioli and the lobster was a big. I was pleased and surprised the lobster pieces were so large. Tonight I had Steak Frites (hangar steak with homemade fries) and it was great. Reminded me of Paris. Very tender and flavorful. The bar menu is imaginative. I am a Manhattan person but ordered their bourbon bitter and it was the great. Don't hesitate to come here because it's a 'hotel' restaurant. Get over that and realize you have discovered a diamond. You don't have to drive into Boston to enjoy to quality food. I'm from Michigan but I travel extensively and I'm hard to please. I have never given 5 stars. read more

I love Yvonne's and Ruka so I was excited to try this spot! It did not disappoint - the food was delicious!! My favorite dish was the flaming chorizo. It was so flavorful. Food: solid. Nothing revolutionary, but the Basque street corn and patatas bravas were both particularly good. We also had the Taste of Matadora, with a surprising mix of meat, cheese, and extras for the price, and tasty grilled oysters with chorizo. Service: Pretty much ruined the night. We wanted to pass on this feedback to the manager, but he never stopped by our table (or, from what we could see, most tables or the host station). So we're writing it here. * We barely saw our server. When we did, it was mostly a fleeting glance as she walked past, in spite of an empty water bottle and empty or near-empty wine glass at my seat. When she brought the check (after a long wait), we put our card in the folder and watched her walk past twice without a stop before she retrieved it ten minutes later. * I was never once asked if I wanted more wine (and I didn't order more, but would've if asked. My husband had explained we wanted to try a few wines. He only got asked if he wanted more once, so he had two glasses.) Although we went 20+ minutes between server sightings, she still didn't offer once she did arrive. * We ordered the cheese/charcuterie Taste of Matadora plate and told her we wanted more dishes, but wanted them spaced out. She said they'd all come together because they're cooked to order. We said, "OK, ... I guess we'll wait to order more." She rethought and said, "I could have them cook them in courses." We thanked her and ordered 3 more dishes. ** The patatas came first. ** We wondered if she'd forgotten the cheese/charcuterie. Nope ... they came when we were 2/3 done with the patatas, along with the oysters. We tried to speed up. ** The corn came next. Nothing was delivered in courses. Oh, and the oysters came again, with the corn. We declined them, wondering if we'd gotten someone else's oysters the first time. **The server didn't deliver our food, which was fine, but also didn't stop by to see how things were. So we couldn't tell her about how strange it all was. All we could do is sort of laugh bemusedly. Wish we could've loved this place. The food was good. But the experience was disappointing. The place was maybe 40% full when we left at 9, and we understood why (while still wondering how the manager couldn't find his way to the tables in such a quiet room.) read more

I arrived 15 min early for my 8:15 reservation and I waited 10 minutes for a hostess to be sat. Many servers walked by without making as much as eye contact. Once I was finally sat, the hostess quickly threw down my menu and literally ran away. I found that odd since the restaurant wasn't entirely busy and it seemed most people were checking out. Note my reservation was for 8:15 (past prime seating time) So I sat down and looked at the menu, which looked delicious. I would love to say that it tasted as good as it looked. Unfortunately, being seated at 8:10, I had no server, busser, bartender or manger come to my table at all -- even to pour me water or greet me. I waited for 15 minutes and finally at 8:25 I left. Such a shame. read more

Good food, cool setting, but a little on the pricey side for what it was. It is part of the Hilton hotel in Woburn, which probably has a lot to do with the inflated prices, but I didn't find a whole lot of value. So yummy! We loved Matadora. Our waitress was super sweet, and made such a good suggestion that we wait to order our entrees since we were getting a ton of different tapas. Was so excited to try Matadora after seeing it on Phantom Gourmet. But what a disappointment! We asked for a booth at the time we made the reservation -- there was no acknowledgment of that when we arrived. Our waiter was also the bar tender -- the service was horrible. The four of us decided to go to this restaurant after seeing a review on the "Dining Playbook" television show. We were ALL blown away. This restaurant ROCKS! I'm sure there will be a lot of commentary about this restaurant being in a hotel lobby. But that is ridiculous. It is amazingly beautiful. And the meal was the best I have had in a year, at least. I'm a huge tapas fan. Davi was our server. He was super-nice and did well. This restaurant is expensive. For four people, we got a pitcher of sangria and a mojito. We also got Arbequina Olives, Marcona Almonds, Marinated Manchego, Flaming Chorizo, Wood Grilled Brocolli, Shishito Peppers, Street Corn, Brussel Sprouts, and four steak entrees... And it was just enough food for us. With tip, this meal was nearly $400. Yes, it is not something we could do all the time. But it is something we loved and will absolutely do again. This is a great spot for a romantic dinner or for a special occasion. You won't be disappointed. read more
