A local favorite in Stoneham. We got there early and thank goodness cause this place fills up fast. Service was amazing. Drink orders taken, then food. The appetizers were fantastic. Especially the home made biscuits. These were amazing. Hot, flaky, very much home made with a maple butter that is sinful. Entrees were mushroom tortellini and eggplant parm. Both portions were large and delicious. Very classic red sauce restaurant. For dessert it was limoncello cake and tiramisu. Both, light and tasty. If you want to stay local and have good Italian food, with a very nice ambiance, then this is the place. FYI -- park behind the building, there's plenty of free space and take the elevator up. It's been a while since I've visited Gaetano's. It won't be long before I return as this was a really delicious dinner! We started our evening in the outdoor dining area as the main dining room is a bit loud and it was a beautiful warm evening with the sun starting to set as we arrived. We salivated over the drinks menu but decided not to imbibe and save our use of calories for later. We started with the Stuffed Mushrooms, which were 5 large mushroom caps stuffed with a meatball like stuffing. They were really yummy and somehow escaped into our bellies before I could get a picture. Whoops. For entrees, we ordered the Pasta Louise (penne with chicken, artichoke hearts, and more n a creamy sauce) and Steak Pasta (penne with thin slices of steak, feta, and a light dressing). Both were delicious. The Pasta Louise is popular for a good reason - it is full of flavor and definitely worth ordering again! The steak pasta was good with a much milder flavor profile. The ingredients for everything tasted fresh. The only disappointment was the bread and butter which was a white scali-style bread with little plastic butter packets; I prefer dipping olive oil and spices with a heartier bread. The service was prompt, personal, and friendly. The main indoor space is a bit loud for my taste, so I will prefer to go again when I know I can sit at one of the pleasant outdoor tables. This is one of my friend's favorites and I understand why. We were immediately seated in a very busy restaurant. Nice to hear others enjoying their evening. The waitress was more than accomodating with our picky needs. My friend enjoyed her martinis, my prosecco was fine. My friend chose her scrod dinner served with mashed potatoes and sauteed zucchini. Had a nice early dinner with a girl friend! Parking on the street and in the back, I love that they have the options. We had reservations on OpenTable and was seated quickly. The host was very kind and pointed to the table for us. Us girls funnily had the same exact drink and meal, the server loved it Our server was super sweet and friendly, a local who enjoyed her job! I wish I got her name. We both had the Riesling and Vodka Pasta. Decent wine list and great menu. The vodka pasta had their own twist to it that would not say is normal but it was still very good. I had the pleasure of visiting Gaetanos for the first time on valentine day 2025. Simple &Classy place. Not overwhelmingly loud or packed which I loved . The service was fast attentive but not overbearing . 10/10 . The bread was yummy , and they have butter and on the table ,-oil ,parm cheese pepper flakes ect . Now for the food...,, I am still thinking about this dish a month later . I got the Tuscan ravioli and it was simply one of the best pasta dishes I've had in my life . The Tuscan consists of "Eggplant, roasted red pepper, black olive, and Romano cheese-filled ravioli in a fresh tomato, basil, and garlic cream sauce." Truly divine... if I didn't live an hour away I seriously would go multiple times a week. The potion was nice and hearty , and it was only 20$... my partner got the same thing as I, and had the same reaction. I should have known to leave after they set a bowl of reheated, partially dried out, white bread (looked like Italian bread but texture/flavor was 'American White') with prepackaged pats of BUTTER! (My immigrant grandparents never had butter on the table ... it was always Olive Oil so that is telling me this is just 'Italian cosplay'.) The food was ok but so salty that I couldn't finish it. While the sausages were awesome, the ravioli was a bit overcooked, the eggplant too thin (was it there?), and the chicken kind of dry, and I'm not sure if the 'marsala' had any meat in it. The staff was very attentive and friendly, though. We didn't chance ordering dessert ... dinner didn't seem 'fresh' or authentic, so we doubted the dessert quality. When we walked in the host was very unfriendly, almost like don't bother me. We got seated, and the next chapter starts. We ordered a couple of Martinis (They were good). To get into the B-Day celebration mood. In less then 5 minutes the waitress came to take our order. We told her that we were in no rush. A few minutes later the bread and butter arrived. We celebrated my daughter's graduation on Saturday afternoon. I had a reservation for 17. We ordered off the menu, appetizers, drinks and everyone's meal came out within a reasonable amount of time. We ordered Thanksgiving food for our celebration yesterday. We ordered for 12 though only had 9 guests because we wanted to send everyone home with go to containers and we still have leftovers for us!! The food was delicious , hot, the turkey was so moist and everything was just delicious'. They even included a turkey leg! I'm making turkey soup today like I do when I usual cook! One of our guests needed gluten free and they seemed eager to accommodate those needs in a very professional manner. First time visiting Gaetanos. Per our nephew recommendation we decided to try this place and not our usual and nearby Italian place, Angelo's Ristorante. Pros: The food is really good. Really good..... Two vodka martinis, two glasses of Montepulciano, fettuccine Bolognese, beef stroganoff, chocolate cake and cappucino. Initially the server said they do not have cappuccinos but changed her mind upon my hubby's persistence. The ambiance was good too, almost full house on a Tuesday night around 7 pm. Prices are reasonable. Cons: The service is so rushed that at a particular moment I had the cocktail, wine, dessert, wine, fettuccine, and cappuccino in front of me. All almost at the same time. In less than 50 minutes we were in and out. We still left a 20% cash tip because the food deserved it and because the server was a middle aged woman who had to go up and down stairs to access the kitchen. I felt for her knees. Conclusion: Perhaps the servers just had a big karfuffle with management? Perhaps they do not like new customers? Perhaps we were seated at the favorite table of one of their regulars? Such a strange experience! Even the host was not as slave as they usually are... It was my hubby's birthday and 3 servers sang for him with a candle on top of a piece of delicious chocolate cake on the house..... Fortunately hubby laughed at the experience. Three of us went yesterday for apps and some wine, 1:30pm in the afternoon. The bartender was, friendly, efficient and was a pleasure. We sat at a corner table and enjoyed our time there. This has been a staple in Stoneham for as long as I have been around. Friday and Saturday night I would recommend making a reservation as it does get busy. The food is amazing, they have a fettuccine bolognese that is my go-to cheat meal. Generous portions and never disappoints. Their wine list is great, they have many options by the glass. Lots of Italian wines with some Californian options in there as well. The bar seems to have plenty of regulars, actually I think almost everyone there is a regular. Lots of families having dinner as well as a good location for an intimate date night spot. Staff wears "legalize marinara shirts", very friendly, quick attentive service. They definitely make you feel comfortable. Eddison the GM who you'll typically see at the host station on busy nights does a great job running this restaurant. We first tried this establishment by ordering take out, which we knew might be a risk...the meals could arrive cold, perhaps they wouldn't be as meticulous with take out orders if the customers weren't in person. But we were pleasantly surprised. Hubby ordered the fettuccine carbonara, which came with the option of scallops or chicken. The chicken was tender and the pancetta was a lovely touch. However, he reported that the sauce wasn't very creamy. I ordered the Chicken Espinaca. The chicken and spinach were tasty, but I can't tell if the spinach was super fresh. It tasted okay but the green color was not fresh/vibrant. Also the ziti was mushy. I think we'll give it another try in person in the case that the food was sitting too long for take out. And also, the brunch pics look amazing, so maybe we'll stick to the lighter dishes. read more

We tried this restaurant for the first time today. We went for lunch and the restaurant was fairly empty. There were a few occupied tables on the patio. The one waitress was nice, however she didn't check on our table to ask how everything was. I had to wait more than 10 minutes it seemed to get a refill on my drink. The food was decent. I tried the Wild Mushroom Tortellini and it was good. The tomato sauce could have been more flavorful, but it was still decent. Portion sizes were good. Nothing special about the bread other than the slices were thick and toasted. If you want garlic bread, you have to pay for it. The jazz music on the radio was a nice touch and kept the vibe relaxing and modern. Overall, it was a decent lunch, but I wouldn't necessarily rave about it. read more
