It's always a bit stressful to replace flooring: it's relatively expensive, the process is disruptive, and you live with results a long time. That's why it's CRITICAL to have the right people on your side. I had previously had my home measured and quoted by a big-box retailer, but my experience just to get measured, plus the horrible "nickel and diming" the quote reflected (a charge to move each piece of furniture, you are allotted three bags of grout, if you need more... etc, etc...) Well, I really didn't have a very good feeling about them. So I went shopping. That's when I found Masters Flooring. Their selection is great... I am certain that I got a better product at a better price, but that's not the big story here: it's their crew. I had tile that looks like wood installed. The crew was professional and as high as my expectations were (I am fairly... exacting) they exceeded. The guys really knew what they were doing, and ensured everything was perfect. We wanted to install new laminate tile in our living room and bedroom and decided to go with Masters after visiting a few flooring stores in the area. A few days before our scheduled install date, we got a call saying the manufacturer was delayed in sending our materials and we bumped in back a week. No big deal, I'm sure that happens. The day of installation, the crew was on time and did a nice job installing our floor. But they somehow lost or forgot the t-molding, so we called Masters back and they would follow up with us. After several weeks, they finally called us and said they got new t-molding and would finish our install. The day of install, they were late and when I called, they said they couldn't find the t-molding at the warehouse. They finally located it the next day and when they came to install it, they didn't have enough materials to finish. It was missing the transition area around the fireplace. So after another few weeks of communicating back and forth, they finally said they could either backorder more of the same exact t-molding from the manufacturer (which would take several more weeks) or bring some from in-store stock that would be a close match. At this point we were almost 2 months after the original install date and we were just ready to get this job done, so we decided to go with the in-store stock. If you look at the other reviews, if your installation goes off without a hitch, you'll probably have a great experience. The final product looks great and we're happy with the new floors, but getting it finished took close to 2 months and was a frustrating experience with numerous re-schedules and having to juggle our personal/work schedules to make sure someone was home. read more

I requested a quote from this company but was told that I needed to go to the showroom. It was far from me but I went. The lady at the show room was great, nice and helpful. I set up an appointment and the person who came to see me wasn't very amiable. She just didn't care very much, didn't say much and acted like she was too good for my business. I'm young and perhaps she deducted that she didn't need to treat me with any sort of professionalism. Made it seem like she was there doing me a favor. I met with other companies who gave me a completely different experience. I have gone with a different company, I was never even given an actual quote even though she just left unceremoniously and said she would email me, which she didn't. No one ever followed up. Other people seemed to have a good experience. I guess you have to be a certain kind of person to receive proper service and I didn't quite fit the picture for them. Seems like everyone should get the same service. The only reason I didn't go with one star is because the person at the show room was nice and helpful. read more

My house had a pipe break under the slab and we had to renovate our entire first floor due to a really bad leak. Our beautiful hardwood had to be ripped up. Drywall was cut to find the source of the leak along with jack hammering through concrete in the kitchen and laundry room leaving HUGE gapes in the floor for weeks. The plumbers we hired left our house in complete shambles. We got some bids from professional flooring companies to put our home back together and decided to go with Masters flooring and I'm glad we did! Unfortunately we had a pipe bust in our foundation and had our very own hotspring in the middle of our house. One of the many things that was ruined was the carpet in the main living area in our rancher. We had no experience with any flooring companies so we reached out to the local company at Masters. We spoke to Michaela and they were at our house making an assessment within one hour. This was a very traumatic situation for our family and Masters did their best to make things easy for us. I had them come out on Friday to give a quote to install some floors in my hallway, install some baseboards there, fix some baseboards pulling away from the wall (all after water damage) and also looking for a quote to install shoe molding for all the baseboards throughout the whole house. I was emailed the quote to install floors on Monday, and told they were waiting on their baseboard vendor for shoe molding and would have that by the next day. I replied asking about the baseboards being pulled from the wall and was told she was advised they cannot repair them. No suggestion on other options. I waited for them to follow up on the rest of the quote and didn't hear back, so I emailed on Wednesday asking for the rest of my quote and also asked if the baseboards that are pulling can't be "repaired", can they replace them. No response. Guess I'll be finding someone else. read more

My first impression with Melissa was great and she continued to follow through during the whole process. It was her professionalism that won us over and got us through our project. We had our first floor redone, and custom cabinets with a kitchen remodel as well. Without going into too much detail, the luxury vinyl plank install was a nightmare. The product looks great if you like making noise when you walk. The installers did not have a good attitude when they were told to redo what they did not do right from the start. There was a true miscommunication between store and the subcontractor. I felt like I was put in the middle to let the manager, Mike, aware of the poor install work. Mike only came to the job site due to my complaints to Melissa during the flooring install. He was very poker face when we first met and he said he usually checks the site but he was "busy" getting ready to go out of town. The common comment was "this is a floating floor" and all it's advantages, however it was visibly moving so much it made noise when walking barefoot. Finally, the second time I asked him to come to look at the rest of the floor once installed, he agreed it was not properly floated and they would redo what I thought was needed to be redone. The subcontractors did not agree and blamed the store for not ordering enough patch for what was needed. I was not charged for additional materials needed for the redo but felt like I was stuck communicating to the subcontractor who did not want to do the redo. Mike has not once looked at the redo or called me about my floor since it was done a month ago. The excuse of being too "busy" is no excuse. I truly believe the product is great but the subcontracted work did not know or care enough to level and float the floor properly. My floor still makes too much noise and will probably come apart in places from what we are experiencing now...will not use this company for my second floor now. read more

The final result was pretty good, but the ordeal was inexcusable. There is poor communication and oversight for the work. We had to delay our move twice. I chose a locally owned business that specialized in flooring because I needed them to match an existing hand scraped oak floor. The first floor that they installed used wood that was not the same grade that was in our home. We were pleased that they agreed to tear it out and start again ,evidently because they did not feel that they could redeem the job that was done. We rescheduled our move. When we arrived to inspect the second installed flooring after they were supposed to be finished, It did not appear that they had been varnished. After I called them, they agreed to send someone out and did additional work for several hours and then, magically, they looked like the other flooring. This resulted in another delay as the varnish had to dry for another 2 days. They did not send the trim person out until we reminded them - a week after the move was complete when MANY of the baseboards were covered with heavy furniture. The floors turned out well, but I think there could have been more concern showed toward our schedule, job oversight, and better communication. read more

I had been shopping around non-stop for new flooring for my relatively new house and kept getting the run around on a solid price from any retailer. Most of the places I talked to wanted one price for the wood, another price for the wood plus install, and then another price for the trim to complete the flooring. Prices kept inflating and all of the quotes stated "subject to change if we come across any further work that needs to be done once the works starts". As I haven't owned the house for a year even and I did not know what the floors looked like under the carpet, this clause made me extremely skeptical. I contacted Masters Flooring out of the blue and started asking questions and the woman I was dealing with seemed to put me at ease with the process and their pricing seemed so much more fair than anyone else I had talked to!! My husband and I went into their showroom on a Saturday, walked out with samples to look at in our house, and we never once were bombarded with harassing phone calls or high pressure sales tactics! I was sold!! The process of replacing flooring is never an easy process as your entire house gets turned upside down! The installers made this expected pain in the butt experience extremely easy and painless! I was expecting my house to be left in shambles and a complete mess, but what I experienced was the opposite! Not only did the installers move all of my furniture (mind you, my furniture is extremely heavy!!!), but they also left my house extremely clean and with no reminisce of any flooring mess! We just installed about 1200 SF of engineered hardwood in our downstairs and Melissa and Mychaela (?) were extremely helpful and patient in helping us get exactly what we wanted for our home, and very close to our budget. They made us feel like our job was as important as if they were doing their own homes. The 3 man crew had to move alot of furniture around over the 3 days. They never once complained and always treated our furniture with gentleness and great care. They patiently answered questions and were very willing to do things a little differently if we wanted, while giving their opinion in case we wanted to know what they thought. Their clean up was impeccable, detailed and painstaking. The result was much more than I had hoped for, having walked on bad flooring jobs before done by other flooring companies.
