I highly recommend this company. Also they were very fast and friendly and responsible! Helped me unpack all the stuff read more

We moved our 3 bedroom flat on the third floor (no elevator) to a three story house with ease with Master Movers. Getting a quote was super easy, and I got a great detailed explanation of what to expect. Booking was equally as easy through an online booking/deposit form. The move itself was flawless. No scuffs, no scratches, no dents! They were professional, and did a great job carefully and efficiently wrapping all the furniture. They had a great understanding of where everything should go after just one explanation. At the new place, they had to park on a very steep hill, and they had the tools and exactly what they need to do so. They were able to move anything we threw at them. They even moved my upright piano at no extra cost! The last time I moved that piano it cost me $500 alone. The total move cost a little more than I estimated, but I got a great detailed explanation as to the cost breakdown so I feel good about it. For the number of unreasonably large and heavy furniture we have, they definitely deserve every penny. Total move took 4.5 hours for a 3 bedroom place. Would definitely recommend and use again in the future. read more

I booked with Master Movers on July 5th, paid a $100 deposit via credit card. The move happened on July 29th. The move itself was a bad experience but the real issue is their dishonesty. Before the move I described in detail the number of items and their size. They sent two movers, Francisco and Christian. I was on the street watching the truck and it would often be 10 minutes or more between their trips between the apartment and the truck. All my items except furniture were pre-packed in boxes. No disassembly was required (I did that ahead of time) and no other prep was needed. My point of comparison was a move I did with a different company exactly a year prior, with more than double the amount of items. That move took less time, cost less, and those movers were in constant motion. Additionally, one of the movers was visibly ill and coughing the entire time. He did not wear a mask at any point. He did however drop several items and damage a doorframe. Master Movers did not apply my $100 deposit to my invoice and also added an additional hour for their travel time to site that morning. They are based in South San Francisco and the move was in the Inner Sunset (i.e., that trip does not come close to taking an hour). This charge was not disclosed up front, and does not appear in the terms I agreed to. I contacted the owner, Conrad Hanns, the following day (7/30). He was irritated and dismissive on the phone and told me to call back another day. I did (8/01), and he said he would talk to his movers. He reported they took a single 10 min break--which is irrelevant, and not the issue at hand. He then claimed his customers often say that they work too fast. Unlikely. Conrad eventually agreed to refund the deposit and an hour of billed time. He said a check would be mailed. Two weeks later, no check had been mailed. I texted him on (8/15) and he didn't respond. I called him the next day (8/16): Conrad hung up on me the first time, the second time he said he would mail a check by the end of the week. It is now two weeks after that (8/29, a full month after my move) and I still don't have a refund for my deposit. I've begun a dispute with my credit card company. If you look at their feedback on this site (assuming it's not been hidden) and elsewhere you'll see a pattern of negative reviews that are all consistent in what they say about this company and about Conrad in particular. Several reviews mirror my experience exactly. I wish I had seen those before I picked Master Movers. read more

Perfect job !! Well done. Nothing broken. Nothing lost. Contract followed. Go local. Sf. Go giants. Gung hey fat choy. Will use again

Conrad and his team were truly exceptional to work with and I cannot recommend them enough. Moving is stressful and they made our FAST moving timeline so much more sane. Conrad the owner met me personally for scheduling within 3 days of contacting them and walked through our home in detail to ensure he could have the right amount of movers (4th floor walkup!) and that they could meet our timeline (which was 3 days after we met!). Hw was very patient walking me through how they would approach the job and the timing it would take given our amount of stuff Their professionalism and responsiveness was exceptional, particularly the day of when the movers called when they were 15 min away (arriving early/very much on schedule). They took utmost care with our things (no scratches etc) and even did complicated tasks like take down a murphy wall bed and take apart a crib that they then rebuilt in the new home (did not fit through the door). They were so efficient they were even faster than their original timeline. During the move in to our new home they also went above and beyond--working with us to ensure each furniture piece was in the right room--including being very patient and moving pieces around to our liking. They had additional movers help out to make the timing more efficient and easier for furniture placement (no additional cost to us). Their experience with moves in the city for over 20 years was clear throughout this process, and there is no substitute for such professionalism, kindness and diligence of each of their team members. Truly exceptional service in every way. read more

Moving is stressful and these guys were 100% worth the money. I booked them for Saturday afternoon to move furniture out of a storage unit in San Jose to San Francisco. We spent 45 mins loading, 1 hr drive to the city and 45 mins unloading. 2 movers came and they were very professional and efficient. Would highly recommend this moving company. read more

DO NOT USE THIS "moving company" I was extremely disappointed with the whole experience. On top of everything else, I have damaged goods that they aren't willing to pay for. Very unprofessional all around. There are many better companies to choose from locally. Be careful! read more

onalism, Quality, Responsiveness, Value First of all they quoted us a low price then when they came to our home they told it was going to be more than double we had allready paid 1000 deposit.after they had packed up half of our stuff we had to give away the rest of our stuff because we were leaving the next day.then they tried to deliver 2weeks early before we closed on our house we refused delivery because we didn't have anywhere for them to drop it off so they said they had another drop off in Canada and we would have to wait for the truck to come back .about a week before our free 30day storage was going to be up they called and said they were going to auction our stuff off and that everything was actually in a storage about 30 min away when we were waiting for them to call us on their way back. They wouldn't give us any information on the storage until we paid the drop off Amount so we payed went to storage and found out they didn't pay the fees and we would have to pay them to get our stuff after paying the storage yard we opens our unit to find most of our belongings damaged thousands of dollars worth of stuff destroyed. And now they will not reimburse us for the damage or storage fees. hopefully you think twice about using this company read more

I am gravely disappointed and wished I had done more research before settling with master movers. I was initially drawn to it by its outstanding reviews, but my experience was nothing shy of terrible. To their credit, The movers were very efficient but my entire problem stems from their lack of clarity, expectation and transparency. I've already dealt with a few times where they promised that they will not bill me Until we've discussed the work and reviewing the accompanying invoice, however, every single time I was billed without an invoice. That was at least 4x. And on the day of the move, they took a 45min break which I was charged for. But The biggest problem is that the workers tell you one thing but the back office ran by the owner, Mr. Conrad, does something completely different. It's really a slapstick operation in my opinion.I had to contact my bank and dispute the charges because I had no idea what I was getting myself into and I'm willing to put screenshots of what I've been charged if you want to personally IM me. This business is one of the most dishonest intransparent, unethical and shady business I've ever encountered. And if you decide to do business with this company, ensure you set the right expectation and make sure that you don't get taken for a ride like I have. You have been warned. read more

Master Moving Inc I moved from California to Michigan Spoke to Allison on November 11, 2023 She sent me over an Binding Moving Estimate # 8961061 Of $1915.90! When the mover's arrived on November 13, 2023 and loaded All of my things On the truck, he then said that the price would be $5100.00, I asked him to take my stuff off the truck because that was not the price that I was quoted by Allison! The moving guys Daniel said No, he will not take the things off the truck, I then told him that I'm going to call the Police he said by the time they get here they will be gone (It was Five Guys there) , and I would Have to continue with the move, or they would take my things to there storage until I paid them that $5100 then he made me sign a form that says I give the Authorization to charged my credit card for $2,630.46 and a Interstate Uniform Household Goods Bill Of Lading And Order For Service Form! When I signed it! It only had the $715.90 and $1,253.64 on it, he then changed the amounts to $1,753.64 and added the $5100 $2630.64 after I signed the form. When they delivered my things I had to give them two United States Postal Service Money Order! One For $1,000 and One for $753.64 Totally $1,753.64! Also on my Bank Statement they have to different names: Moving and Storage Van Nuys CA and Moving And Hauling SER. I was expecting to pay only was was on the Binding Estimate $1915.00 They Extorted this money out of me by basically Hijacking my things if I didn't agree to there higher price! I also have several copies of other unsatisfied customers and a Copy of the BBB report which gives them an "F." We Need to STOP this company from doing business like this, they just keep Extorting people out of they money and that's no Right! Maybe in we could come together Collectively and file a Class Action against them and Band them for doing business like this again hopefully with a group of us the Courts may see that this is a Scam that they are doin. Great movers! These guys were a tremendous help and very fairly priced. They loaded up my entire storage unit in Belmont for my 2 BR home and moved me up to Marin County into my new place in 5 hours total (with their round trip drive time) and the total was $600 but I had the yelp coupon so $500! Best.money.ever.spent!!! They were kind and extremely hard and efficient workers. Unfortunately I don't know their names but I can't recommend this company enough! I've already let a few people know about them and I just got moved in today. Thank you UPDATE: Was charged $15 on my credit card for using a credit card but never told about this fee. Bummer because I had cash I could've paid to save this. Please let people know about this fee. Not ok to just charge the fee without informing customer. read more

We worked with Master Movers when we relocated from San Francisco to the South Bay (Conrad for scheduling, Francisco, Douglas, and Chris for packing and moving) They were incredibly conscientious and professional. They showed up early, took stock of everything that needed to be done, then made quick work of packing everything carefully and loading the truck thoughtfully. Our move was tricky because we had to take things to multiple locations including a storage facility. The team was friendly and accommodating even though we were frazzled. They organized the storage unit super efficiently making sure things were safely stacked, super tidy, and easy to access. They were worth every penny and they saved us many hours of packing and hauling time (and no doubt marriage counseling) if we'd had to do it ourselves. Highly recommend and will call them the next time we need moving help. read more

All the five star reviews are true. This was my first cross-state move and my partner and I packed everything we owned in a 15' UHAUL and carried ourselves from LA to SF. Our building is a tiring 4 story walk up with no elevators and a very thin staircase and a slightly larger service staircase. Most of my belongings are books, boxes, and boxes of books. Francisco and Douglas were troopers and amazing movers. They scaled all those stairs, brought up everything, and maneuvered a large 12' slab of oak (my desk) up through those thin stairwells. They never complained, they were so professional (showed up early and got right to work) and super sweet. We were initially afraid that they wouldn't be able to manage all our belongings, and even asked for a third person--but they looked at me like I was crazy and proceeded to prove me wrong. If you ask, they'll even do a furniture dump for you! They removed a large sofa that was left behind by the previous tenants, and took it away for me so I didn't have to deal with that issue on my own. Master Movers really are the 'masters of moving'. Conrad was amazing, friendly, and super helpful. Whenever I need to move again, I am once definitely requesting Master Movers to help. If I could give them more than five stars, I would! read more

The move itself was great. Cheers to the movers. The management, not so much. They overcharged me vs. the initial quote (claimed the "drive from SF to Oakland" is billed as 1.5 hours - I have an email showing a quote saying it is billed as 1 hour), took a $100 deposit that was not even applied to the final cost, and refused to give me an itemized receipt to explain the charges. I've tried calling them for 2 weeks now and they will just brush you off, say "I'll get it to you later" and do nothing. Update: after a lot of back and forth I finally got this resolved, and they are refunding the extra charges. I'd like to think it's an honest mistake, but the whole ordeal left a sour taste. Again, the move itself was fine, so no complain there. Just be mindful of the final charge. read more

Finding good movers is always so difficult. I've moved 7 times in 10 years. These guys blow everyone out of the water. Too many times have I had movers work slowly to increase their hourly rates, break things, give countless hidden fees. Not these guys. Super fast, careful with fragile items, and straight up with their rate!!! You can't find better. I've seen Francisco work twice (my roommate then myself) He's outstanding. The whole crew is great. Thank you!! read more

What a dishonest company when it comes to their billing practices. Just stay away. They charged us higher amounts than what was actually IN THE WRITTEN AGREEMENT AND FINAL CHARGES. And then they decide to stop responding to emails or phone calls. On top of that we were charged for lunch breaks, packing materials they never used (they left them behind), and they decided to add an extra truck and crew at the last minute because otherwise "they would be done too late". So the cost estimate was just blown anyway. Don't trust all of the positive reviews. Probably not the worst movers and at least they got the job done and the crew was cool but that's about it. read more

We had a fairly complicated move due to our building having a funky layout and being a walk up. Master Movers handled it expertly. We were in awe when they were able to remove certain pieces of furniture without having to remove closet or main doors, which is something that even we were unable to do when installing it in our old place. Nothing arrived damaged at our new place, and this included large live house plants. All of our furniture and boxes were placed into the correct rooms. Their moving quote and rates are 100% worth the price. Should I ever move again, I know who to call! read more

Beware of this company!!!! They quote low to get your business then quadruple the rate. They moved all our belongings into the street then demanded a quadrupled rate even though we had already paid 3 deposits. 5 men surrounded us and demanded whatever cash we had to move our stuff from the street to the truck. We were afraid and gave them another deposit ($2200 cash). As of today they are demanding more money (by wire transfer) and are holding our things hostage. read more

I was a little hesitant to use movers, since I always moved my belongings myself and always thought it'd be crazy expensive. But after moving 5 times in the Bay Area, I was so sick of moving my shit, I decided to hire movers. My friend Zach recommended me to use Master Movers and I was able to schedule something with them on a Friday morning. I made the appointment online and they arrived at my place. Payment was at the end, so I didn't have to worry about anything. I even paid with a check, which is nice if you want to avoid the cc fee. The two movers that came worked efficiently and quickly. They were nimble and hustled so fast. My move was basically done in like an hour. I remember just dropping my jaw when I saw one of the movers stacking 3 boxes on his back and going down the two flights of stairs. I was really impressed with their work ethic. They made moving such a cinch; I definitely recommend their services to anyone who is moving. read more

Master movers were a disaster! They charged us 3.5 times the original quote and damaged all of our boxes and furniture. This was a terrible experience and I would not recommend them to anyone. This company is great. I didn't have to worry about where to put my items and how to get them because they move your items, itemize them, and store them. Wow this was the first time I've ever hired movers, and I can never go back to moving on my own. They were SO good -- by far the best decision I could've made. Omar and Hugo took care of my move today, and I am beyond grateful to them! I had: a full size bed + mattress, a chaise, a coffee table, two end tables/night stands, a bistro table, a GIANT wardrobe, a bookshelf, a dress form, and 15 or so moving boxes. They not only disassembled and reassembled my bed for me, but they also made sure to wrap everything in blankets and plastic wrap to protect them in the truck. They had all the right equipment and were super efficient -- they were able to move me out of my old apartment and into my new one in just 2.5 hours!!! That includes loading, driving, AND unloading completely. My only regret is not having been more diligent about packing ahead of time so that I would've had more stuff for them to take for me. Definitely would recommend for your next move, especially with the $50-for-$100 yelp deal! Suuuuper reasonable pricing -- my total came to $310. (For context, some of my other friends have moved similar amounts of stuff + timing and it cost upwards of $450.) read more

The workers came under-prepared with a staff of 2 (not 3 as required), and a truck that was so small it couldn't fit the contents of a 1 bedroom. They broke very expensive valuables - one through carelessness, dropping a floor lamp chandelier onto marble - the other through poor packing. My empathy goes towards the workers who are underpaid and overworked, using their bodies to carry heavy boxes without even a dolly. I'm disappointed by the poor and unresponsive management. If they take corrective action, I'm happy to revisit this review. read more

Conrad and the Master Movers team were amazing! You'll recognize immediately from when you call them via the direct dial number that these guys are efficient, reliable and super organized. We very quickly organized a big move - the movers arrived promptly on time, even helped with finishing up packing and organizing of my belongings, and did so super carefully. The packing of the van was done masterfully - there's a reason they're called Master Movers! RUN don't walk away from this rotten company. I used Master Movers for both moving and storage having been swayed by all the positive reviews. The owner, Conrad is difficult, to say the least. He's hard to pin down, often won't return calls and make you feel like an ass for calling. Try to get anything on paper from him is challenging. He will tell you one thing up front, very nicely, to get your business, but oh, it's a whole different story once you're committed. (Jeckell and Hyde syndrome). For example I was told before signing on, that "all I had to do was give 24 hours notice to access my storage unit." Loads of BS! On only one occasion in over a year did I ask to access my storage unit (actually a pod in the back of a warehouse) giving them not 24 hours, but four days advance notice. Clearly bothered by my request, he sharply responded with "well, that won't work!" and then "I'll get back to you!" -- a common refrain (he won't get back...you have to call again). I had to work exactly within his time frame or forget it. In order to get anywhere with him I had to "pester" him which is exactly how he makes you feel. "I'M WITH A CUSTOMER RIGHT NOW." is often his response to a innocent but important question. Once they had all my belongings it was a highly stressful situation not knowing what the hell was going on with all my belongings thanks to his passive-aggressive way of communicating. The worst thing about this company though is that they'll damage and or lose your precious and valuable items, blame it on you, and never consider any even small reimbursement or even an apology. In the end they were VERY expensive for me especially considering several items were missing/broken. And there was absolutely nothing I could do about it. They are not at all transparent, and changed me far more than what was originally quoted, well into the thousands. They are crooks. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere! read more

I would definitely recommend Master Movers. Conrad was prompt and courteous with our walkthrough. His estimate was spot on. The movers worked their butts off and were extremely cautious with moving the boxes in both spaces, especially the new one. Not a single thing was broken. They didn't even complain that we had the heavy plastic ZippGo boxes. We tipped the movers with Gatorades, super burritos, and $20 each -- after some research into what is customary. The only thing I'd do differently is have unlimited Gatorades on hand for when the movers arrive. read more

The Master Movers team handled my move so smoothly and so professionally that their service was actually a bright spot in what is usually a stressful and onerous process. They were super-careful in handling all my belongings. Even when my building elevator broke down, the team proceeded by the stairway without interruption or complaint. All my worry about details and logistics with the new place were put to rest by these obviously experienced men. They even made great suggestions about furniture placement when I was uncertain about it. I can't say how grateful I was to be able to rely on a company like this and I would definitely use them again. read more

The best movers period! We've use them for multiple moves and they are always prompt efficient and friendly!

It's more than a year later and I'm still mad. FYI - I am no moving noob. I have moved 7 times in the past 13 years. Here are my questions: 1) Why did it cost a whopping $1,529.25 to move from South Beach in San Francisco to Oakland's Waterfront? 2) Why did it take 2 men FOUR hours to pack up a 1BR apartment? - We just moved from a small NYC apartment a year prior, so many things were still in boxes AND we have minimal stuff. Again, having moved from a small NYC apartment. - My Mom and I even asked for boxes and packed up the bedroom and bathroom so that we could speed things along. - Yes, there was dedicated elevator access as well. 3) Why did the entire move take EIGHT hours? - Yes, there were stairs on the Oakland side. This I had disclosed to the owner when receiving the original quote. The owner is the one who obviously estimated the time, cost and # of men needed. However, due to the 8+hours, this is where the final price got bloated. All I can tell you is that the movers are slow as molasses. Also, I spoke with the owner multiple times after the move complaining about the price and the time it took. He offered to send me a check for $100 (which makes nary a dent) and he ultimately sent me a check for $50. Here's my advice: NEVER trust a moving company that doesn't have a website. You can look up BBB and Yelp reviews, but frankly, if the company doesn't have a website in this day and age, there's a reason. Looking back at my past experiences, moving companies without websites are trouble. Focus group of 1. Take it or leave it. read more

Conrad and his team at Master Movers is AMAZING. Finding a reputable mover to take my 3 room and kitchen place from SF to Santa Monica was a pain in the ass. Seriously. Every single person that I reached out to that said they move people to LA don't actually move people to Santa Monica. Luckily for me, Patrick Ryan Movers suggested that I call Conrad at Master Movers. I'm so happy that I did! Conrad scheduled a time to give me a free quote around my busy schedule. He was on time and super friendly. He made sure to go through every room with me, every closet, every under the bed, every cabinet - everything! I was so grateful that he took the time to make sure that he saw everything that was coming with me to ensure that I got an accurate quote. I have a TON of stuff - a full bedroom set, a full dining room table + chairs, a full living room - several couches, a bunch of artwork, two 50+ inch flat screen TVs, a full kitchen worth of stuff. Seriously, a lot of big items. I had Master Movers pack the TVs and the artwork, but nothing else included in my estimate. Conrad got my estimate to me the next day via email. Just under $3,600 for two movers. That might sound like a lot of money, but of the few other less reputable places that I contacted on Yelp, it was actually the cheapest out of all of the bids. (Some were well over $4,000!) Day before move: Conrad personally called me to see how packing was going and to see if I needed anything. I told him that we were still packing, but would have everything boxed up by the time they got there in the morning. Day of move: Conrad and Master Movers showed up on time! (I requested a 9 am start) We actually had 3 movers and Conrad moving our stuff! Of course, I never finished packing - holy crap I have a ton of stuff! These guys were great. After carefully loading the truck with everything that was ready to go, they took apart my bed, carefully repackaged both of my TVs (I kept the original boxes - such a good idea!), and then started helping me pack everything that I hadn't gotten into boxes. They weren't contracted to pack stuff for me, but they went above and beyond to make sure that everything got packed. Moving is so stressful and these guys were awesome. I cannot say enough great things about Master Movers. Quite possibly the coolest thing about my cross state move: My stuff was at my new place by morning time. Most of the other companies that I talked to said that moving that far is a 3 day process because my stuff gets transferred to another truck with other people's stuff that's also going in the same direction. No thank you! I was so happy to see Conrad the next morning. Note: he had a different crew in Santa Monica than what he had in SF, so if you are moving long distances remember that for tipping. Three weeks later: Conrad emailed me a week after the move to say "thank you" (who does that?! I should be thanking him!). Three weeks later and we are finally 100% unpacked, set up, and cleaned up. Absolutely nothing broke or got damaged while moving. Nothing got lost or misplaced. Master Movers seriously rocks! I would hire them again in a heart beat and have already recommended them to my friends!! read more

Master Movers are awesome! We have used them for two moves, and they have exceeded expectations both times. I first chose them when we moved in August 2012. I researched a number of moving companies, and their rates stuck out as the most reasonable. I also appreciated Conrad's accommodating attitude. He asked me what we needed and was willing to work with us to accomplish our needs. He offered to have the movers pack us the day before and then move us the next day, or do everything in the same day. We ended up having them pack and move us in one day, which was great because a team of three movers arrived promptly at 9am, packed our entire place, and we were moved in and all set up in our new place by about 3:30pm that same day. It was incredible! We recently moved again, and when it came time to choose a mover I didn't even think twice about which company to use. I called Master Movers and again, Conrad accommodated our needs perfectly. We had another team of three movers, who packed and moved us across town into a property that was a bit difficult to navigate. However, our moving team had a great and positive attitude, remained focused the entire day, and worked really hard until they got the job done. I also appreciated that Conrad sent his team back (upon my request) to pick up empty moving boxes a few days later. That was very helpful! All in all, Master Movers did a great job on both moves: not a single piece of china or glass was broken either time, our furniture was assembled perfectly, they are prompt, courteous, and reliable, and I would highly recommend them! read more

I must've called at least 5 different movers for my recent move. When I called Master Movers to ask for an estimate, Conrad told me that I would only need 2 movers, who could finish my move from SF to Oakland in 2-3 hours. I was highly skeptical - despite living in a studio, I have several items of heavy-ass furniture, including: a sleeper couch, an Ikea Expedit 4x4 shelf, and a giant Ikea Hemnes dresser. Not to mention the 4 boxes fully loaded with books. AND I was moving into a 3rd story walkup. Conrad called the day before to confirm my move addresses and time, and I again emphasized the heavy-ass furniture situation. Master Movers totally proved me wrong. I cannot believe that these two dudes were able to move everything in and out in the time they did without damaging a single item. My stemware stayed intact, nothing was dinged/scratched, and even my shitty Ikea furniture arrived in great condition. Total move time was 2.5 hrs. of actual moving + 2x 30 minutes of drive time. With the Yelp deal, the total cost ended up being less than $350, on top of which I added what I hope was a generous tip (sorry for all the stairs, guys!). Well worth it, and will use again. read more
