I am actually shocked at some of the reviews that I am reading for this restaurant. This is an old-fashioned mom and pop sort of restaurant that serves excellent, quality food at fair prices (entire Entree dinners for 2 with drinks is $30). I personally get tired of chain restaurants like Applebees or Chilis or Oliver Garden that is all that is available. This is home-style rustic food done well that is not coming out of an "assembly line kitchen." Every year my entire family comes here for Good Friday because it has the BEST fish & chips around that won't bankrupt a family of 7 in New England. I urge people to check out this restaurant for Lunch (Tuna Melts & Patty Melts are to die for) or Dinner for the Reuben Sandwiches, Fish & Chips, or the Burgers (hand-molded burgers not shipped FROZEN). read more

I don't usually give such a low rating to a restaurant, even if I wasn't particularly happy with my meal, but I have to comment in this case: it was the worst meal I have ever had in all my 68 years of eating out. I ordered baked stuffed shrimp and had to send them back. The stuffing and 'shrimp' were swimming in some sort of greasy liquid. The 'shrimp' were rubbery-simply inedible. The salad bar was barely passable. I could go on, but won't. Suffice it to say that I won't return. This place hasn't had any serious attention from management for decades; it's tired, worn out and doesn't deserve to be called a restaurant. Let me just start off by saying: WHITE PIZZA. It's to die for! My boyfriend and I love to come here and sit at the bar for date nights. Thius place is not worth the time. My wife and I went there once for dinner and both got sick. After a couple months we decided to give it another shot and went in for breakfast and were sadly disappointed. The service was awful and the food not much better. The waitress forgot everything we kept asking for and the food was bland and just not good. There are much better places around and this place will no longer get our business. read more

Master McGrath's has some pretty good food. Much to my surprise, a tenderloin steak was outstanding. One of my friends gets cravings for the chicken pot pie. My husband thought the fried scallops were terrific. Skip the salad bar and whatever you do, don't order a special called haddock florentine. The people who work there are all friendly, but I have to admit I understand the comments about the place being a little skeevy. I wonder what I would think if I saw it with all the lights on bright. One star is too much. The fact the place is dark as a dungeon may be so that you can't see what you are eating. Went there last night with family. Salad bar was bare, brown bread was over cooked so we ordered buffalo tenders, they came out with barbecue sauce so I say this is not buffalo sauce waitress says "yes it is!! I take a bite and say no it's not -it's sweet! She walks away... kids eat 2-. Don't touch other 2. Food comes out mashed are lumpy and barely Luke warm, I cut into pork chop eat a few pieces after chiseling off fat and see that it's pink after turning on flashlite on my phone to see in the dark-.. send plate back -.. brussel sprouts were soggy and cold-..... waitress returns and says they forgot to put chops on with order that's why wasn't cooked all the way"""" what????? Always enjoy this place! Good food, great staff. My experiences have been good -- always have friendly waitstaff and an enjoyable meal. Definite ambiance of another period but that's its charm. Reminds me of a restaurant from my childhood that is, sadly, no more. Sorry, some of you won't understand this but, some will... if pubs served popovers here's the place. LOL! This is a family favorite - nearby, clean, and reasonably-priced, but we know what to order and what is less-than-excellent, so that sways my rating. BRUNCH is very reliable, with tasty specials, pancakes, french toast, cinnamon buns, etc.. The salad bar is kept up to be nice and clean, fresh, neat. It's really one of my favorites in the vicinity. the chowder is so good, and the French Onion Soup never lets us down. Bar drinks are well-priced, not too steep. Fish and chips are almost as good as out gets - streak fries and nice, hot, sweet fish. Always ask for more tartar sauce, because they give you a measly portion! the steak fries are very good - always good burgers, too. Always. very consistent. Avoid the steaks - because they might disappoint, but stick with burgers and fish-n-chips and chowder, or brunch, and you'll be All Set! We ate here for the first and last time. I only wished I read reviews before visiting. The woman that sat us was very pleasant and took our drink order as soon as we sat down. We were 1/2 way done with our drink (ice tea) before our waitress even took our order. I got the Lobster Pie, rice and squash. The rice was the best part of the meal. The squash was hard, it was barely cooked, and the lobster was dry. I practically choked on the Ritz crackers on top. The waitress never came over to see if we wanted another drink or to check to see how we were doing. When we flagged her down to get the bill she went right to the cash register, but got side tracked and had to deliver food for 2 more tables. She finally gave us our bill which we paid and promptly left. Honestly, if I'm going to spend $50 on dinner I expect the staff to be pleasant and engaging and the food to be fabulous. read more

I don't know why I keep going back, probably because I could walk there. Every time that I order from there my meal is messed up. The food is bland and generally not great. Half the time the food is cooked completely wrong. I got an entire steak tip of fat! HOW CAN YOU MISS ALL THAT FAT!? Pricing is about normal, but now I am driving the five minutes to Linda's to have a GREAT meal for the same price. The venue is dark and old, it makes me feel dirty. It looks like the it needs a complete deep cleaning. However, the male waiter was one of the best that I have had anywhere. The others are less attentive. Service is kind of slow. Just went here for a late lunch/early dinner a few days ago. We were seated at a booth but after placing our orders decided we wanted to sit at a table in front of a window. We were able to change no problem- the kind waitress even helped carry over drinks and a plate of salad. My grandma ordered an iced tea and the waitress asked if she wanted a refill before she was out. She was very attentive and nice. For our meals my grandma wanted a Fried Clam plate (Friday night *dinner* special) but we were there before they served dinner. The waitress went straight to the kitchen and asked if we could order that- and we could, no problem! It came with coleslaw and a choice of onion rings or fries. She really enjoyed her meal and even finished it, which is sometimes unusual for her. My mom got a Reuben sandwich, and she enjoyed it as well. I ordered a Chicken Cordon Bleu. I had the choice of either potatoes or fries with my meal, and I chose a baked potato (though I wish I would've chose fries..oh well) My meal came with salad bar. I got lettuce, cucumbers, carrots, onions, with some dressing. It was good. The lettuce could have been fresher though. As for my meal, I didn't care for it too much. We all ordered dessert, my mom and grandma got apple crisp with vanilla ice cream and whip cream. The apple crisp was too cinnamon-y in my mom's opinion, but I tried a bite and I could definitely taste cinnamon but I liked it. My mom also complained that they didn't put enough ice cream on top. Both my mom and grandmother said that the apple crisp was too watery, and I could tell just looking at it. They both agreed that there wasn't any "crisp" in the Apple Crisp. My mom described it as "Apple soup" I got a slice of cheese cake, without strawberries. It was yummy. Cheesecake is cheesecake though, right? I've been here numerous times and not once have I had a poor experience with the staff- always very friendly and welcoming! It's never too crowded here, which is nice. The people I heard come in were greeted by name (most of the time) You could tell they were regulars, and some parties didn't even get a menu, just said "The usual" I agree with previous reviewers, the decor is dated and the inside could be cleaner. In one of my previous visits I ordered Chicken Broccoli Alfredo and requested it without Chicken. It was no problem for the staff and they threw in something for free instead of reducing the price, which I didn't mind. read more

A few nights ago me and my friend decided to dine here because we were in the area and wanted to get something to eat before heading home to Rochester. We get in there and we pretty much know what we want right away (chicken lord lurgan). So we order and then go up for the salad bar. Im extremely thirsty so i drink my beverage with my salad and by the time my food comes my cup is empty and waiting to be refilled. She brings us our food, but didnt ask if i wanted a refill for my empty cup that was sitting right in front of her face. (Keep in mind this place is not busy only one other booth was occupied). So i finish my meal, still without a drink. Im sitting at the table watching your so called useless hostess text on her phone, leaning over the counter talking, hanging over the kitchens doors talking to the cooks. Shes doing nothing productive but yet i just went my whole meal without a drink and have been waiting over ten minutes for my check? So finally the waiter comes. She asked if we need a box, clearly theres no food on the plate so i respond with a quick no. Then she asks if id like my drink refilled. AT THE END OF MY MEAL WHEN IM WAITING FOR THE CHECK. I WAS BESIDE MYSELF. This isnt the first time either!! Everytime ive gone here its been a bad experience. The hostess people sit at a booth play on their cell phones IN PLAIN VIEW OF YOUR CUSTOMERS, play cross word puzzles, talk. But you never once see them do something useful. How unprofessional. Im so sick of the lack of customer service skills your people lack. The time before this i had waited for my check for over 20 minutes as your hostess sat in a booth eating!!!! It got to the point i walked up to the counter and demanded my damn check. Everytime i come in here theres never any customers. This place has so much potential but your employees are rude and lazy!!!! Im NEVER wasting a goddamn dime here. Im so sick of this.
