Worst massage I've ever had. I forget her name, I wish I remembered it. She asked my preferences then didn't honor them. She was rude and was late to grab me as well. Spent 50 min doing the exact same motion on my back, sliding up and down it. She literally didn't rub my muscles, just went over them over and over slowly. I should have said something and I only left a tip bc it was 90 minutes and I know that's tiring even if you're doing a poor job. Cannot say for the whole office but I found a great massage therapist there - Sebastian! He is very professional and I enjoy my deep tissue massages every single time- especially it is super enjoyable after a long stressful day at work we all probably are dealing with. Sebastian can customize massage according to my needs and pain areas as well as apply enough pressure to help with the issue area and at the same time relax my body and mind. 90 minutes massage is about the right amount time to be fully reborn. I'm only reviewing at 5 stars with how the situation was handled by the the MOD Kendra and because we have had great massages here in the past. We have scheduled to go back to chalk it up to a "one-off", but the time and empathy expressed for the most recent experience by TERRIBLE massage therapists, was enough to keep our membership. We (wife and I) love all of the locations but this one has treated us the best over time. Kendra listened to our complaints from our past a at appts. and wanted to make it right. It was a long phone call but well worth it as she was doing everything to map out when we could return and therapists that she would recommend to focus on the areas of our body that we just needed relief for. We are both in hospitality so any relief is appreciated. Kendra's empathy for our previous experience was over the top and unexpected. I will follow-up after our rescheduled appts. But THIS is the customer service that you want from a company. From one customer service expert to another, Kudos Kendra. I appreciated all of the time you spent trying to make it right. I'm a little disappointed. I made an appointment for a facial, rush in there after dropping my kid off at school and requesting a late start at work. When I arrive, I'm informed the "steamer" isn't working and my only option is a microderm. I decide "hey, why not". I didn't receive an apology and it was more of a forced decision. During my micro derm I find out that the steamer was working but no one has turned it on or given it enough time to boot. When I'm checking out of the micro derm, my face is insanely itchy. I mention this to the front desk person, still no concern. I'm charged the credit on my account for the visit. The front desk person asks me how much the tip will be- mind you I always tip- instead of asking me if I'd like to tip. I say no thank you, she asks two more times as if surprised I was not leaving a tip. I later find out that I was charged for two of my credits on my account. Not one, as the facial should have been: I understand that the micro is two credits, however, this should have been discussed with me when I was placed in a rather one decision situation. The massage was decent but the expectations/hospitality ruined the experience and kept me from purchasing more. My wife and I checked in 15 minutes EARLY (as instructed) on the iPad with a polite and friendly host. 5 min after our scheduled time I ask the front host when we'll be taken. 3 min my masseur took to the groom. After she explained the usual, I asked if we'd get the full 90 minutes; she replied "Well you checked in late..." I informed her we were there 15 min early. She told me to take it up with the front desk after... Tense and not wanting to ruin my wife's birthday I stayed and kept quiet 5 minutes later the massage therapist returned and commenced a fine massage, but it was awkward given her accusation of us being late. She finished 84 minutes after our scheduled time, understandable as she likely has other appts. But by my count we started at least 12 minutes late and finished 5 minutes early. The same hostess checked us out, made no mention of the late start. And we left. (Originally I had wanted to surprise my wife with extra massages but I'd rather not deal with the poor service every visit). Mistakes happen and people don't get checked in, I get that. Become a member. Okay look, the massages here are pricey, at least for me. However, when you become a member and they deduct it out of my account every month and I dont have to worry. And guess what! A massage a month, and usually you end up getting busy and building up credits! The therapists there really do try to work with pains, aches, surgeries, tender spots, pressure level, comfort. How bad could it be right? The girl I had (and she should be glad I can't remember her name) gave one of the worst massages I've experienced. I left feeling more frustrated and tight then when I arrived. She basically spent and hour petting me no matter how many times I asked her to apply more pressure. She also told me her life story. I arrived a few minutes early only to be told, the online appointment bookings apparently aren't working. When I booked it, I was even informed of the name of the esthetician that I would be seeing. So I guess I figured it was a go. I was told I could book for another day, however my schedule is very crazy and frankly, I think I'll find somewhere else that has it a little bit more together. They sold me something they lied about so they could use the money on my FSA, then lied when confronted; them when I tried to cancel they sent an email with forms and I had to follow up three times to make sure they wouldn't charge me again. Then I tried to use the last 90 minutes I paid for and they said it expired 9 days ago and wouldn't make an exception. Their excuse was they sent me an email. The massage therapists are great! Mona is absolutely amazing. I love her. She works really hard, pays attention to what you tell her in the beginning and is just a natural at what she does. I've had a few ladies in there before I found Mona be 10 even 20 mins to call my name and never make up that time and it happened consecutively. Why I believe this is one of the lowest rated massage envys is also because of the customer service. I'm not sure if it's the employees fault up front or if they weren't trained well enough but their customer service skills are some of the worst. At times very rude and careless. read more

I joined a couple of months before the lockdown. The massages were good. What is wrong is that I had a massage scheduled for March. It got cancelled with the lockdown, but I was still charged my membership fee. I disputed this to no avail. I was verbally told I could freeze my membership for 6 months. I filled out the paperwork for this. Today, I was charged another monthly fee. I called to dispute this. They checked my paperwork and said "There is no expiration date, so you can have a credit but not a refund." Since THEY are open, they just start charging! I canceled my membership. I will be letting the BBB know about this practice. I will also be disputing the charge with my bank. I am an RN and am taking COVID 19 seriously. I had a bad tension headache and decided to go inside after happening to see the sign in the parking lot. I asked for the rate. They quoted me a number for the hour. I said I only wanted a 30 minute massage. "We don't do half hour massages". ...Until they did. Steve took me back, and gave be a thorough, vigorous massage. (What I asked for) My headache was completely gone after the 30 minutes was up. I walked back to the front lobby and they really tried pushing me to subscribe for a membership. I had to decline at least 3 times before they gave up. Also the lady did not smile at all. Almost a grouchy facial expression. They gave me a discounted rate today, since it was my first time. I was in Phoenix and had a free afternoon before my evening flight. I wanted to find a way to relax that was not in the airport all day! I randomly passed by massage envy while doing errands so I thought I would give them a call. I have to say I was blown away at the exceptional level of customer service I received. Not only were they able to accommodate me for a 90 minute massage, a stretch session and an outstanding facial but they also kindly offered to store my luggage so I could relax & enjoy stress free. I felt like I was visiting an amazing high end spa. All of the staff I encountered from the phone, the front desk, my therapists and the management were all top notch. Vanessa provided me with the best deep tissue massage of my life! Jenny custom made a facial for me to work around my skin that had a little too much Phoenix sun. Both Jenny and Vanessa are truly gifted in their fields. I was treated so well and I cannot thank you girls enough:) Zuilly at the front desk was a sweetheart to deal with. Alyssa, the manager was phenomenal. Not only did she go above and beyond to help with my special requests, she made me feel completely at home, like I was a welcomed regular guest. That rarely happens, especially when a facility knows a client doesn't live in the city. I am furious. In the last 12 months, I have had at least scheduling issues, from them calling me at 8AM on a Saturday morning (my 1 day off) to cancel my 11am appointment to last Saturday, when I went in only to be told someone had messed up, and actually booked me for the NEXT week, and despite me driving all the way out there at 11am, they couldn't get me in until maybe that evening, and then not with someone who had experience in deep tissue/medical massage. I was irritate and ready to ask for my membership refunded then, but Ashley the clinic manager promised me that they'd give me my next week appointment free of charge, and that she'd personally be certain there were no more issues. As I literally couldn't turn my head to the left due to pain, I took her up on that. BIG MISTAKE. Yesterday (the Friday before my "correctly" scheduled massage, I went out of my way to call in and confirm my own bloody appointment, to try and avoid last week's debacle. According to the woman who answered the phone, it looked like my schedule therapist was actually scheduled off, but she went to talk with her manager, and came back to the phone telling me everything was ok, and that she'd call with any issues. Then yesterday evening, I got ANOTHER confirmation call from Massage Envy, confirming and reminding me of my 11:30am appt on Saturday with my preferred therapist. GIven that I've had 3 migraines this week (versus my 0 or 1 when I get a massage the weekend prior), I really absolutely needed to get in, so I felt more confident. Well, I was just woken up at 8am...again. On my day off...again. To explain to me that, big shock, they messed up my scheduling again, and that apparently, my therapist was off today. Despite Ashley's promise of it not happening again. Despite me being pro-active and calling to confirm. I am sitting here in pain, so furious at this repeated treatment that I can't even go back to bed...and the best part? They don't even have a manager on duty I can complain to. My treatment at the hands of the booking/front desk staff has been any thing BUT relaxing. I continue to walk out of there frustrated, angry, and occasionally in tears. I know they say Fool Me Once, Shame On You, Fool Me Twice, Shame On Me, but I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. I'm pretty screwed for today and the next week, but luckily, an Elements place with a similar concept opened recently in the general area. At this point, it literally cannot be any worse than massage envy. Do not get a membership with massage envy! You can read from my experience from before.. but here's a new one, my membership was suppose to end last month.. However, I checked my bank account today and guess what.. they are still pulling payments! So I called figuring they once again screwed up my account, but apparently your "year-length" membership actually would last a lifetime unless you send in a e-mail or letter asking for it to end.. Which is kind of dumb.. especially since they tell you this once when you sign up, and they send home your contract on the same day you sign up (a year ago).. and then they never mention it again... even when you ask, "When is my membership over?" They'll tell you what month, but won't remind you about the cancellation policy.. So much for feeling the warm fuzzy feeling of being called a "member.." So yes this is my fault for not remembering what was said last year, and keeping my flyer of a contract.. but it is also partly theirs for having no professional customer service.. that's what you get with a chain! So I recently had a birthday and bless her heart, one of my best friends decides to get me a $50 gift certificate. With a fake smile and ingenuine enthusiasm, I said "Thank you!" Ugh, here we go again, I thought and boy, was I right. I have this feeling that Massage Envy just loves to hire people that recently got out of massage school without any real world experience. Now, I am a PROFESSIONAL massage getter. I love massages and I am a huge massage therapy snob- so let me throw that out there. I get a massage every month- if not, every two weeks. I decided to take the gift certificate and make an appointment for an 90 minute massage since hey, it's free. Right? I tell the girl who is booking my appointment that I want someone who is strong and great at deep tissue. She goes, "Oh yea, you would love xxx!" I don't remember her name. So great, I get there. First of all, my appointment starts a little late. I tell the girl what I want - firm, strong, lots of pressure on shoulders and neck. She is like "great". Once she started, oh bloody hell! The massage hurt! I felt like she was picking at my muscle. I felt like she was using two fingers and trying to dig sand out of my shoulder blade. Then to my neck, same thing. Five minutes pass (it felt like 30 minutes), I wanted her to stop! The whole time, I was trying to devise a plan to get outta there without being rude. "Um, I'm sorry, but I have to go home." Um, I'm sorry but I don't feel good. Keep my money." I've never felt like doing that EVER in the middle of a massage. I'm the type of person that even with some touch, I fall into relaxation bliss. So I finally say, "Can you go a little lighter?" That helped a little. So the whole time, I'm clenching my buttcheeks hoping I can just get through this ninety minute massage! I did finally find a way to get through it though. Sometime in the middle of the massage, I couldn't handle it anymore that I started talking to the therapist. I normally NEVER talk. Talking doesn't allow you to relax, but in order for me to get through this, I HAD to talk to this lady. I left completely regretting my time wasted there. I should of never come back and I should of given the gift certificate to someone else. Of course, the clerk in front asked me how my massage was and I said "ok" - anything to get outta there. I even tipped because talking to the massage therapist actually made me feel like I established some kind of connection with her - since now I know she is a mom with x amount of kids. So I'm getting old and tired and I work in social work. I'm looking for a cheap(er) place to go for regular stress relief and to address the nerve pain I've been having in my neck, most likely from hunching over paperwork and suppressing my rage towards some of my co-workers. This was my first time at Massage Envy, I booked the hot stone massage. I had gotten one before and it was awesome. I was excited. My masseuse was a lovely woman but I was very unimpressed...I'm a bit of a masochist when it comes to getting rubbed down. I want a woman with slow hands and a not so easy touch. Basically, I want it slow and I want it hard. Maybe I should have been more specific when filling out my paperwork, but I felt as if I was getting a massage from an apathetic boyfriend in a hurry. The hot oils were nice, but all she did was simply run the stones over me, way too quickly. There was no attention paid to pressure points, there was barely any pressure at all. I was pretty specific about the neck pain and there was no extra attention paid to it whatsoever. I've gotten more relief at the salon when getting my hair washed (*cough* Bobby at Moments is awesome). Not worth the $78 plus gratuity. Maybe I'll try again with a different masseuse, the regular membership prices are pretty tempting. read more

I think I am in love with my masseuse. Seriously. If it meant that I would get free massages nightly from Nathaniel, I very well might have proposed. This is why Massage Envy gets 4 stars from me. I am a firm believer in the phrase "you get what you pay for." And at the ridiculously low prices, $49 for an hour followed by $39 every additional hour you go within the same month, I'd say Massage Envy passes pretty much every expectation I had going in. Sure, you're not going to get the amenities and ambiance of a full day spa, but you're also not going to pay $150 for a more often than not sub par massage (in my experience.) That said, I'd say Massage Envy is definitely worth a shot. I could care less about the girls working the computer who to be honest I've only had quite pleasant experiences with and the lack of a steam room, as long as Nathaniel is working there, good luck keeping me away. read more

I come to this location at least once a week for a 90 or 120 minute massage. For me, deep tissue offers the best therapy. By far, the BEST deep tissue therapist here is Bryce. He is so incredibly intuitive and provides a relaxing yet healing massage. He's great about communicating and adapting to any preferences. I really enjoy everyone who works in the front as well. They are all so helpful and friendly. They make everything so easy, you couldn't ask for a more pleasant and professional group of folks. I usually come after 5pm during the week, so that's my frame of reference. My suggestion to new members is to try out different therapists and modalities until you find what you like. If you find a person you really like, stay with that person. The therapist or front desk staff can tell you their schedule, and when you book your appointment just ask to see that person and it's all set. Also, it sounds silly, but communicate. The therapist would want to know if something is not to your liking, so just let them know. Tip - ask the front desk staff for recommendations. A lot of them seem to purchase massages as well and can give you good advice as far as who they like for certain modalities. Although as I said, for deep tissue, Bryce is your man! Bonus Tip - you can leave your gratuity on your credit card when you check in. I sometimes do this so I can just walk out the door when I'm done. They way I'm all relaxed and don't have to think about it or wait to check out. Bonus Bonus Tip - If you are in a pinch for time and feeling super tight, ask them to focus on 2 or 3 key areas. Don't go crazy if you only have an hour to work with. Hit those trouble spots hard! I know some folks have complaints about the whole membership model. I find it to be a great value and I use the heck out of it. Since I'm happy with my massages I never have issues concerning membership. So needed a massage and decided to check out Massage Envy. I have a few friends that are members and love it. Not ready to become a member, I went in just wanting a good massage and willing to pay for their service. The location is clean and the rooms are small..bright light, music in the background..nothing to make the experience memorable or a calming Zen moment. The staff was nice however, did not seem to care either way who was coming in and out. My massage was less than great. The first 30 minutes, he "aligned" my back with pressure or what I would call "lets place my hands on her back ..tap certain areas...push in certain areas for 30 minutes..do nothing else" ..no lotion on his hands and when he rubbed I could feel it. I kept thinking..I hope it gets better cause this is what I'm paying for? The second 30 minutes, it was fast rubbing on my back, legs and feet. At least he was using oils or lotion! I felt somewhat relaxed for a short time however, was probably the worst experience I've ever had. Would I recommend Massage Envy, no. I'm not envious of those that pay month after month to be a member and still have to have pay for each session At least I only paid $39 because if I paid what I thought I would pay I would be really upset. read more
