My mother in law bought me a groupon for a massage at Soma Ray as a pre-wedding gift several months ago. Since then I've gone back a second time for a pre-natal massage, and will continue to see Margit because of her expertise, convenience, and price. Booking was easy: I set up the appointment online 1 or 2 days in advance, received a confirmation phone call, and was good to go. I found the building easily and there was plenty of parking. (Wish she had a better looking website, but it functions just fine. I'm just being picky. She's a massage therapist, not a web designer!) Services: Margit (a tall, very friendly, german woman) is the best massage therapist I've ever had. Before she started she gave me a background on her credentials and we talked about what style of massage I would prefer. She has had decades of study of the body and muscles: hypnotherapy, study of nutrition, muscle psychology, reflexology, etc. She was able to pinpoint areas of concern in my muscles (and what that meant). About a week ago (week ago, week ago... ), I went into Soma Wellness for a massage and deep tissue work on my back. I used the Groupon that was offered online so I received a discount; however, I believe that for deep tissue work it costs about $55 per hour. Margret, my masseuse, did a great job. She is very talented and worked out many of my muscle tightness issues in my back. She was kind, considerate, and very knowledgeable with her profession. She used various oils, lotions, and aromas, that quite literally, made the massage go much smoother. For deep tissue work, she used trigger point therapy and was very aggressive by incorporating her elbows and forearms (which my body needs). My only critique is that it seemed like Margret did too self-promoting after the massage. She implied that if I didn't come back my back was going to be screwed. Which, in my opinion at least, didn't seem true and was just an effort to have me come back. Nonetheless, Margret is a great masseuse and she did a phenomenal job! I visited Soma Wellness for a 60 minute deep tissue massage that I had purchased on Groupon. Margit lives up to her great reviews here. She was professional, her room/office was clean, and she gave a GREAT massage. She did a full body work up but focused on areas which I had told her, and she felt needed extra work. Her website was extremely easy to use and she had great availability. My only complaint is that I don't feel that I got a full hour of massage despite arriving on time. I waited for her to finish up with another client and prepare herself and i dont believe she actually began until about 10-15 min after 2pm yet we finished at 3. I lost my decade-long deep muscle therapist a year or so ago, sadly because she developed cancer so I have looking and finding some good alternatives. Margret is on top of my list after great hour session last week. I have chronic shoulder/neck tension and often let it go until I start getting headaches. I also see a Chiro which compliments massage. Her usual $55/hour rate very reasonable but I seek good deep trigger point muscle work more than a low price. Margret combines both low cost and great skill. For first timers the building was a bit hard to find with no number on it that I saw - the key is its a two story office at the NW corner of 15th/Bethany Home Road, I had to circle around missing it or finding the entrance at first. On the 2nd floor the suite numbers are not in logical order. I was probably the upteenth person to have to ask in 230-A where 230 was. Further the other way and around the corner as I recall. The 230-A lady said they get lots of lost folks come in. Sometimes she is real busy but I made an appt via her website at 3AM for 4PM (I am a very late night person). She had 9 appts back to back the day before but some days very light. However, be sure and get a confirmation as somehow it web scheduler later set up another appt at the same time but I had the confirmation he didn't. This probably rarely happens. Once you find her and have a confirmed appt it is very much worth it for her obvious extensive training and skills. I plan to see her on a regular basis. read more
