I had a very unpleasant experience here. The owner was aggressive and unprofessional during my…read morevisit. I was refused a state inspection, and he made several negative comments about EVs/Teslas (I drive a Tesla). I went to the shop next door and had no problem getting my car inspected. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this place for state inspection. Update: To clarify, I asked for assistance placing the inspection sticker properly on the windshield, which another nearby inspection shop was able to do for me immediately afterward without any issue. What made the experience uncomfortable was not the sticker itself, but the interaction. During the conversation, the owner leaned his arm/body against my half-open car window while speaking to me. I politely asked him not to do that, and the situation immediately became hostile. I was then told to "get out"/"leave." The negative comments about EVs/Teslas and the aggressive attitude were unprofessional and are the reason for my review. I also noticed a review from another Asian customer describing a similar experience of being yelled at. I cannot speak to the intent behind it, but combined with my own experience, it made the environment feel uncomfortable and unwelcoming. This review reflects my honest experience as a customer.

I had been hearing a rattling in the front of the car and also wanted my brakes looked at. I was given an appointment and brought my car in. Someone took my car for a drive, came back, and he said to me "your brakes are fine, I don't know what you think you're hearing. Bring it back if it gets worse." They didn't actually even LOOK at the brakes like I had requested. I was still concerned about my car and knew there was something wrong, and brought it to a different shop. This place actually looked at the car as well as drove it and found that needed all new front brakes, calipers, and struts. Well over $1000 worth of work. I'm glad I was able to give that place my money with their efforts and thoroughness. I will never bring my car to Smooth Automotive again.
