There was a cardboard sign taped over the start of line sign that said open 10:00am. When you are working 2 jobs and have no one else who can do this for you, it is very frustrating to have to drive away and re-arrange all your calendar again to get a simple task done. I will be going somewhere where they are more consistent. Too bad, I really like those guys.

That is very important if you have a budget so there are no surprises when you get the bill. Every mechanic there does a great job and I have never had any problems at all after having a problem fixed. Each mechanic will go over your bill with you to explain what he did when you pick up your car. Also, they take the time to listen to and to explain all. Not at all like dealerships etc where you 'check out' with the person at the register. I absolutely recommend Auto Doctor and all the mechanics that work there. But upon pulling up, I noticed the prices posted on top of the tank - $3.75 for cash; for credit cards $3.81. Unfortunately I was not carrying any bills on me that night, so credit card it was. I would have preferred that they marked the large price sign with a "cash" addendum somehow, but I still got out for 4 cents less per gallon, so there goes it... (My #500 review?) *** 8/2013 *** They still aren't advertising the credit/debit price on the big sign, but with cash at $3.559 and credit/debit at $3.659 vs my regular station at $3.709, I stopped for a fill up. Odd though that I had to go in to the cashier to retrieve a receipt after paying with my charge card earning 5% (temporarily) at the pump.

(NOTE: All the 1-2 star reviews seem to be about those higher $$$ non-self services.) Will probably become my new go-to carwash place, due to their superior payment machine: you can just tap your credit card, making it much snappier than the old slide-through one at the Somerville Carwash on Washington St where I usually go. More importantly, the timer display is highly visible: nice big 2" tall bright red numbers on a monitor that is slanted in a corner making it much more visible than a flat-against-the-wall display. I just cough up my $6 for 5 minutes, enough time to do the high pressure soap spray followed by high pressure rinse spray, to get the layer of icky road salt off, and away I go. And last but not least, the self service bays are closed at one end, which means you have to back out when leaving, but is quite a blessing on cold blustery days! I would not want to come here during the really busy daytime hours especially when people get out from work, but it does seem to be thoughtfully set up with traffic cones creating orderly lanes for the automated washes, hand washes, and self-service bays---far better than that godawful place in Arlington I tried once. Luckily I always go in the evening after my Y (just 4 minutes away) closes, so no danger of that ever happening.

Drove in this morning, a nice guy held the door open for me when I went into the office to say that I needed help and felt pretty stupid. For reference: I'm a 30yo single woman who has been driving since I was 15, but never owned a car. It's the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic, so everything is screwed up, and I really needed to buy a car but was having a really hard time. I had narrowed it down to a list of about 4-5 cars that I would want to test drive, but the pandemic made that impossible. I was going through this process alone. And the dealerships were being VERY annoying. Besides having wishy-washy reviews, they didn't email me back for days. I decided it would be best to just work with a dealership that had a stellar reputation. That way, I'd have the best chance of getting a good value on a used car, and work with people who were truly interested in earning my business. Waltham Auto Gallery showed up over and over during my search, with nothing but 5 star-reviews. I checked the website and saw a car that was on my shortlist of options - a 2017 Kia with only 20,000 miles on it. I called. Daphne picked up immediately. She was so friendly, and said it would be fine if I came by that day to test drive the car. When I arrived, she gave me time to just look it over myself and ask her questions. We were all distanced/masked, but she did offer for one of their employees (I'm so sorry I can't remember his name, he was awesome) to accompany me in the car, to help guide the drive and answer questions. I agreed, and he sat in the back with the windows down (we were masked.) I wanna emphasize: I knew nothing about buying a car until about 2 weeks before I bought one. Daphne was so patient with me and answered all my questions, even the dumbest ones. She repeated herself and clarified when I didn't understand. I felt comfortable negotiating with her (although the price was perfectly reasonable to begin with) and she was very forthcoming with details about the car. She was prompt in answering both phone calls and emails. She was transparent about the delays at the registry and how long it would take to register the car, but they took care of it, and when I went to pick up the car, they'd put on the plates and taken it to get inspected. I've been driving the car for a month now with absolutely no issues. Plus: my stepmother is one of the most insane clean-freaks I've ever known. When she sat in the car on the day I brought it home, she remarked that she thought it was a new car because it was so clean. (Now, it's covered in dog hair. Oops!) Lastly: when I was signing on the car, a woman and her husband came to look at a minivan. Daphne remembered them from 2 years ago when they'd bought a car, and the woman said they still had/loved that car and were back for another one. This shows 1. the connection that they have with their customers, and 2. that the car/service is good enough to bring back repeat customers. Waltham Auto Gallery is AWESOME. Go buy a car from them!

It's got a flavor of old school gas stations where a swarm of men would surround like you see in old school movies. Very friendly staff. There can be a line though as they can have very competitive prices. Another plus! Oh and free air! Sweet! There is a service station as well that does oil changes and other auto repair. They have a AAA tow truck service out of the location as well. A couple years ago my car died at an intersection near the shop and one of their tow truck drivers stopped and got me and the car out of the middle of the road and to the service station. I've always been very happy with their service as well. Bill is great as are the other mechanics I've dealt with.

I personally filled out the contact form with her name, phone number, and address. No repair authorization was given. No estimate was approved. The shop never contacted her that day. At the end of the day, she had to call them herself and was told they were closing and would contact her the following morning. The next day, she was informed that approximately $1,740 worth of repairs had already been completed and that she would need to pay the bill to get her vehicle back. Let me be clear: this review is not about whether the repairs were necessary. It is not about the quality of the work. It is about performing major repair work without first obtaining authorization from the customer. When I spoke directly with the owner, his position was essentially that the car needed the work, so they fixed it and the customer should be happy. I strongly disagree. A customer has the right to decide whether to spend $1,740, seek a second opinion, postpone the repair, or make other arrangements. That decision belongs to the customer, not the repair shop. What made the situation worse was the complete unwillingness to work with her afterward. She was forced to borrow money to pay the unexpected bill. Despite the circumstances, no discount was offered, no payment plan was offered, and no accommodation was made. The position was simply: pay the full amount or do not get the vehicle back. I've trusted this shop in the past. I've sent business their way. After this experience, I cannot recommend them to anyone, nor can I trust them with my own vehicle going forward. If you use this shop, make absolutely sure you have a clear understanding, in writing, of what work may be performed and what dollar amount has been authorized before leaving your vehicle.

They started the repair and I suddenly remembered that the power steering line was what they fixed in August. I had the ~$200 charge on my cc, but I had lost the receipt. I mentioned this but also knew I couldn't hold them responsible without that receipt. The mechanic (the owner's son) said he could tell the damaged steering line was new + saw the ~$200 charge on my credit card statement. That was enough for them to repair it again for free. I also asked him to take a quick look and let me know how long I had let with this Jeep (it's given me a ton of trouble). While on the lift, they saw damage to my frame. It was tucked away and hard to see but he took the time to really look. He sent me photos and warned me about forthcoming issues, encouraging me to pursue a trade-in ASAP. When I came to get the car, the owner told me the same and gave me some advice on how to make sure I got a good price for the car. Long story short, I have a new car on the way and got a great trade-in value for the car. Every time I've come, I have gotten a really good price (based on research). In the past, I've gone to shops by myself and felt patronized -- they don't help me understand the issues and don't answer my questions. It's as if they don't think I need to know what's going on and should just pay and shut up. That didn't happen here. They saw that I wanted to understand how X problem is fixed, etc. and they explain it to me. They also don't assume I know nothing about cars just because I am a girl. Ladies, go here.
