Made a reservation on opentable for 2 of us for a Sunday at noon. Not sure if it was cause of the snow or not but the reservation was not needed but better safe than sorry right? My friend and I each got a latte, they were made very well and hot enough but not too hot where you couldn't drink them yet. My friend ordered the MJK breakfast and I got the chocolate peanut butter cupcake pancakes with a side of chorizo sausage. We both loved our options. Everything was cooked very well, the peanut butter frosting came on the side and the chocolate pancakes were just sweet enough and not overly rich! It made it so you could eat it all without feeling sick to your stomach. The wait staff was all very friendly and quick. There was a small mishap with my side of sausage but it was corrected right away and I didn't even notice! Will for sure be back. read more

A staple in Eagan, I found Mason Jar for the first time while dining from home during quarantine. I have since ordered tons of DoorDash and pickup meals from the Mason Jar, and I am obsessed. There has not been a single meal that has disappointed. The breakfast hotdish is my favorite go-to, as are their pancakes. For lunch I would recommend their shroom pizza or a hearty salad. Food is always fresh and I love knowing that I am supporting a local 'mom & pop'. I have not been by since COVID but can assume that the service 'in-shop' is just as wonderful. Second time around...I like to give establishments a chance however this time around there wasnt much of a differences. The service was majorly lacking. The food was over cooked part of the order forgotten. Service and quality is better at Perkins. Recommendations, don't scorch your eggs...get non-pork options. It is 2019, a little variety might serve your establishment well along with some basic customer service training. Pre-busing tables goes along way on both side customer experience and servers turning tables over faster. read more

I ordered the 10,000 Lakes Chicken Pot Pie. It sounded perfect on a snowy chilly night for dinner. Sadly I was so disappointed. It had no flavor. The portion was meager and luke warm. Then there was the pie crust. It was too thick, over baked and so hard it couldn't be a part of the meal. PLEASE revamp the item. It was edible but far from menu worthy. read more

I have to say that I have never in my life had cupcakes that aren't sweet until now. Two dozen cupcakes for my birthday, and each one was more bland than the next... They were reupholstering the booth seats in the middle of the dining room, loud and uncomfortable to witness while eating my food. Shows how cheap the owner is that they won't even wait until after hours to do work. Food was overpriced and just about average, mocha tasted like a latte, and the bathroom had actual poop smeared on the floor. I've always enjoyed my visits to the Mason Jar, good food and pleasant service. Last week I visited and ordered pot roast as take out. I was tired, cold and needed some comfort food! Arriving home I was very disappointed to open the container to find the mashed potatoes (which tasted like the instant variety) surrounded by bits of stringy meat and very, very few vegetables. This place is an absolute local treasure! They have an amazing selection of breakfast/brunch, lunch, and dinner foods. The fajita omelet was incredible, and the breakfast tater tot hotdish was so fun to try. Also a great array of drinks to choose from - alcoholic and not, from coffee to bloody marys to cocktails. I'm shocked that this hip and eclectic place is in Eagan. I mean, no offense, Eagan. (Maybe I need to lose my stereotypes of the suburbs?) But anyways, this place is adorable -- love the mason jar decorations, the huge cozy booths, and the whole vibe. Also, where can you find a full bar AND a gourmet cupcake counter in the same space? We came for brunch. I had the breakfast hot dish, because why not? The highlight of the dish was some very flavorful (although Minnesota spicy) chorizo, along with some nice hollandaise and a wholesome side salad. My husband got the chocolate-peanut butter cupcake pancakes. Yes, you read that right. Their pancakes are modeled after cupcakes in the adjacent cupcake store. These pancakes came with a side of peanut butter cake frosting. Service was great -- the waitress with the purple hair was really friendly. Prices were a bit high, especially at the cupcake place. But I'd love to come back for lunch or dinner, and to try some of the funky cocktails. read more

A girlfriend and I ate at The Mason Jar on July 8th for lunch. We had a great experience - the biggest frustration was that there were so many delicious options on the menu that it was extremely difficult to choose just one. I had the Pesto Roasted Salmon sandwich (spinach, tomatoes, and lemon dill aioli on a toasted croissant roll), with tomato soup. The sandwich was HEAVENLY, I almost didn't get it because I'd never had a salmon sandwich before, but I'm so glad I did. I'm going to have a hard time trying anything else on the menu after that delicious sandwich. The soup was unusual but good - it was very chunky rather than pureed, and had a bit of a kick to it. I would have taken a picture for the review but someone ate my food before I got a chance (seriously, where did it all go?). My friend got the Pulled Pork Huevos Rancheros (layers of slow roasted pork, refried pinto beans, fried tortillas, and topped with two fried eggs, queso fresco, sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo and spicy roasted tomato sauce ). They're served over chips, which was a nice surprise. I'd like to tell you that they were good, but I wouldn't know, since she slapped my hand away every time I tried to steal a bit. Needless to say, they were also incredible. Of course, we ordered cupcakes from the Cupcake bakery before we went. Cupcake is my favorite bakery in the Twin Cities. I tried something new this time (I typically go with one of my standard favorites) and got the chocolate caramel cupcake (Handle with Caramel). It didn't disappoint. The only dim spot was the service we got from the waitress. She was nice, but my glass sat empty for a good 15 minutes, and when she did bring a refill, it was for my friend (who still had half her drink). But that's not enough to keep me from going back. I love their food! I literally haven't eaten a bad dish there! The simple small menu is refreshing and I feel like it's updated regularly. However the cupcakes... don't bother... we've eaten there more than a few times and the cupcake bar is tempting. Looks amazing, looking into the cases, I drool with all the wonderful flavors. My first trip to The Mason Jar was with two friends. They'd already been at our table for ten minutes when I arrived (oops) and had ordered drinks and been watered. I saw several servers walking around but no one ever looked at our table or even passed us to be flagged down. There was a larger group, about 8 people, nearby and the server helped them once or twice, but it took fifteen minutes for my arrival to be acknowledged. Once we finally had his attention and I had my wine, it was clear our server thought his "charm" was all he needed to do his job well. He didn't know the menu and still barely checked on us, but when he did he acted like we should be infinitely grateful for his presence. I only ended up ordering only a cup of tomato soup, which was ok. Not terribly flavorful. The host was the most helpful employee by far and seemed to be the most industrious - she was the only one who'd refill our waters and asked if we needed anything. She's the only reason I'm leaving more than one star. Based on the service, I doubt I'll be in a hurry to go back. Also, when you drive up and see the sign for Cupcake, you're not lost. It's in the same space and there are no walls separating it from The Mason Jar, they have two separate doors, though, and depending on which way to enter the parking lot you may see one or the other first and assume you're in the wrong spot. read more

**Coming back for Chicken Wild Rice Soup** As much as I really wanted to love the tater tot hot dish, it seemed to look better than it tasted. The hamburger meat on the bottom was sitting in a liquid that seemed like grease, and not the homemade cream of mushroom I was hoping for. Besides the greasy taste, there wasn't as much flavor profile as I would expect. A bit bland. Although, I was able to tell my waitress that the dish wasn't as up to par as I had hoped, and instead I ordered the Homemade Chicken Wild Rice soup. That soup alone is what will make me come back and try again. It had complex and delicious flavor and the chicken in it was perfectly cooked and still juicy which was something I didn't expect at the end of the night. Two of my family members ordered a salad and their input was that the greens were in too big of pieces to eat comfortably. The lemonade was very good, and I enjoyed the cornbread and the fries trio even more. I am looking forward to coming back and trying something different. Frustrating dinner out with my friend this evening. Came in and enjoyed the atmosphere...the food, but not our server. Asking if everything is okay as we are pretty much finishing our food is not checking in on a table...furthermore, standing 6 feet away and half walking away asking if it is okay, doesn't work either. SLOW DOWN, take the time to ask how things are, is everything okay. I spent good money on my salmon dinner....the salmon was fab, but the lobster risotto under it was COLD!!! I could not get the servers attention long enough to explain, it was cold when it arrived! GROSS! We were obviously taking up time away from all the chit chat going on and the time spent in the back doing side work....not fair. NOT a good representation of the MJK. We will be going back for the FOOD.....not Danielle. Hate throwing her under the bus, but use your etiquette to wait on tables...this is a $30+ plus meal and treating us like we are in Chili's is not cool. read more

Our group met here on 2/1/2020, at 7 p.m. We made reservations for 14 and were required to put down a $50 deposit. Everyone got a reminder; however, by 7:30 it was obvious that 6 people were not going to show up. The person who made the reservation went and told the manager that 6 would not be coming, and that we were ready to order. The manager informed us that we would still be charged the $50, because he had reserved the tables for 14 at 6:00. Our food was great and our server was attentive, but our group will not be coming back to the Mason Jar Kitchen. It wasn't our fault that the manager reserved the tables starting at 6:00, even though he knew we would not be coming until 7:00. There were empty tables the entire time our group was dining. We don't think we should have been charged $50 because some in our group did not show. read more

Stopped in at The Mason Jar for lunch after an appointment. It was a bit hard to find but it is located inside of the bakery, Cupcake. It's a big cupcake logo you can't miss it. The atmosphere here is nice. Half cafe, half restaurant. I wish they had more lounge type seating though. I read another review that mentioned since it is located in a cupcake bakery you would expect it to be extremely girly, and catered toward women, but it wasn't like that at all. Don't let the bright colored pastels of the logo fool you. When you walk in you feel very at home. Decor had touches of rustic appeal with mason jars hanging from the ceilings and retro-esque styled seating and booths with modern bar included. As a manly man who was dining with himself I can tell you I didn't have to question my masculinity at all. For lunch I ordered the salmon pesto sandwich on a croissant bun. It did not disappoint! I judge bakeries by their croissants and this thing came out as a flaky, buttery explosion. Nested inside the bun were chunks of salmon covered with lemon aioli sauce that just all came together perfectly for a flavor punch to your taste buds. This sandwich was very rich and practically falling apart as I ate it. I also ordered fries but should have ordered the salad instead to counterbalance the overly rich flavors, it was a very tasty meal nonetheless. With the restaurant being so far out of the way for most people, I don't think it's a good enough place to travel out to just to try, but it is certainly a wonderful place to go for breakfast or brunch if you are in the area. It is a few miles from my office so I am always pleased to have as much variety as possible out here in Eagan. Their breakfast menu is served until 3pm. I have a confession though. I could not leave without being tempted to buy a few cupcakes. The staff was very helpful. However, I now am slightly questioning my masculinity. Damn you guys! read more

My first experience here was to celebrate closing on my house. I had never been, but my real estate agent suggested the place, and I was so glad they did. The ambiance is wonderful. The mason jars everywhere are super cute, and they add a magical feel to the restaurant in the evenings, when the lights overhead twinkle from the fire in the fireplace. The best item on the menu is the 10,000 Lakes pot pie, which has a good portion size and is simply delicious. Honestly, though, I've never had anything here that I didn't like. The cheese plate is a little small for the price, but it's high quality and fun to share. And the apple cobbler/crisp was so good that even though I took it to go, and the ice cream had melted a little by the time I got home, it was still exquisite. I'm not sure what reviewers are talking about with bad service. I've been here several times, and had excellent service each time. My server has always been kind, courteous, and attentive. Overall, I'd recommend this as a special date night spot or place to celebrate joys, as the food hits the spot and the overall environment is beautiful. read more

I've been here a few times now and the food is always delicious. Today the service was also excellent. I again enjoyed the breakfast quiche with side vinaigrette baby greens and tomatoes. This time I had them add some mozzarella chunks to get a full Calabrese salad. Yumm. Today's quiche had turkey, squash, and tomatoes along with other stuff I can't remember. Regardless it was delicious. I talked my guy into the the pork & huevos rancheros. He loved it but as usual pushed aside the guacamole and Pico so I rescued them. I'm helpful like that. The Mason Jar is definitely a restaurant you need to check out if you live in Minnesota and haven't already been to this place! First, the decor of the restaurant itself is super cute; and definitely has mason jars everywhere!!! While waiting for our food we were debating about how many mason jars were used to create the unique space itself. The food was slightly above average. I wasn't too fond of the meal I chose (southwest omelette) only because it was not what I'd typically order; but it was still tasteful. I was able to try the other meals my friends chose and the food is definitely a twist on brunch. Had a hard time finding the place even with gps and growing up in Eagan. I was familiar with the strip mall but didn't realize they were able to squeeze a restaurant in between cupcake and the other stores. Parking wasn't a problem and rarely is in the suburbs. Host and server was friendly. I thought I ordered a cappacino and my boyfriend had the intent of ordering chai tea with bourbon but we ended up getting a latte and regular chai. Maybe my memory was wrong and the bf should have clarified the order. My tator tot hot dish was ok. Didn't try the pot pie or huevos ranchos my friend ordered but might in the future.
