Celebrated a birthday at Masami in Richardson and it was such a great pick. The food was super fresh, everything tasted clean and well done, and the vibe inside is really nice. We sat in the main dining area and it felt lively but still relaxed enough to actually enjoy the meal. Service was good, attentive without being over the top. Heads up, you'll want a reservation. Definitely a spot I'd come back to.

    Tempura roll :///

Warm and mushy rice on my roll (Are you kidding me? That should be rule number one!!??) Then, as shocking as this is, it is true, the guy behind the sushi counter packing up "to go" food blew his nose and then shoved his fingers up his nose with the tissue (going to town ) -- DID NOT change gloves, NOR wash his hands Right behind the sushi bar!!?? I wanted to fall out of my chair. I should've got up and walked out, but my food was almost there and I actually felt bad. I did tell the gentleman behind the bar, but they acted like they didn't know what I was talking about. In retrospect, my sushi was way less than average.... service also was not very attentive. I was mad to have to tip, when I believe I was his only customer and had to sit there, waiting for him to come get my order for several minutes while he chatted with a waitress until another waitstaff called his name... I am sad because this place is in my neighborhood and I used to live it. It's cosy and small and great location. I came three weeks ago with a friend. We ordered a bunch of stuff. I ended up sending one of my rolls back because there was nothing to it. I believe I ordered the tuna. I sent it back and I have to say they did fix it. But I shouldn't have to ask for decent quality. I'm blonde, but I'm definitely not stupid. Had we been some sharp looking businessmen, do you think we would've gotten that? I think not.

Overall: 3/5 Food: 4/5 - I came here with a friend and I got the darvish roll and 2 salmon nigiri and my friend got the heart attack roll and 2 salmon nigiri. The taste was alright but nothing memorable or amazing. Service: 3/5 - Our server was nice but there was not that much "service" as we didn't get water refill until basically the end of our meal and it was not even done by the server himself. There was no wait to be seated on a sunday evening but the restaurant was decently packed. Value: 2/5 - My total ended up being $31 which is a little disappointing for the quality and service that this place offers. This place was the most disappointing restaurant I went to during my time in dallas and would be hesitant to recommend or return to. Overall, this place (if remembered ) will be remembered as the most disappointing restaurant I went to during my time in dallas, texas ! Because there are so many restaurants in dallas, I would say it would be fine to skip this place !

FOOD Salmon Salad - they gave us a small dish of salmon with mayo and onion. Tasted very light and a great way to start the evening. Taiki Roll - Has jalapeños which give a kick. Not too much masago inside. Definitely just packs a punch. Crunch Salmon - Good amount of crunch on the top that was crispy. Salmon is fresh and pretty good roll. Kamo Soba - The broth is pretty yummy. It has a decent portion of duck and shiitake mushrooms. Personally, I think it would be good with udon noodle versus the soba noodle. Tempura Zaro Soba - I really like this version of the soap of where you dipped the noodles in. It was the first time that I had some noodles and it's a very refreshing dish. Also, the tempura was very crunchy. It came with two pieces of shrimp as well as two potatoes. Would highly recommend and pretty good deal on the price. VIBES There is booth seating, which consist of benches with cushions on it as well as table, seating and seating at the sushi bar. The lighting is on the dimmer side, and it gives sort of like a studio vibe with the brick wall, as well as just a comfy homestyle with the counter. SERVICE Service is great! Everyone seems very welcoming and they are quick to refill drinks

Out of town visiting my sister and she brought our family here for dinner. I trust her taste but also, Sushi in a Dallas suburb? I was skeptical. But this place lived up to the excitement she had. Great fresh fish. Awesome rolls and nigiri. Kind service. Great mix of sakes, wines and beers. Not fancy in terms of decor but you don't need that when the sushi is so tasty.

Tried Masami on a Friday night per a coworker's suggestion! Parking was somewhat hard to find as the restaurant was very packed, but we only waited about 15 minutes for a table since it was just two of us. Sushi was decent for the price, but nothing mind blowing. Some pieces were a bit chewy and didn't taste super fresh. It gets the job done if you don't want to make the trek downtown to get your sushi fix.

I'm MAD! Mad bc I grew up in Richardson and never found this place until now! Love the options, It felt like there was enough of a different quantity of items that absolutely anyone could find something they love here! It wasn't too many items (think cheesecake factory 700 page menu) lol. The quality was spot on, The tempuro was perfectly cooked, nice portion sizes, and sushi is fresh. 10 out of 10 Ambiance: Dark and moody lighting, warm and family owned feel! Plenty of seating. And love sitting at the sushi bar and watching the chefs prepare their art. The prices were reasonable and solid quality. The server was attentive. I know and she had multiple tables and still ensure that all tables were taken care of sure I'll be right there. Also I was greeted right away with who may have been the host or maybe one of the owners. Service was excellent and friendly.

Nabeyaki Udon with poached egg and shrimp tempura

Everything we got one of each thing and shared everything. We got the Nabeyaki Udon and it was good! Very light broth and chewy udon. It came in a ceramic pot that kept it hot for awhile. We also got the heart attack roll, the Taiki roll, and the crunchy salmon roll. My favorite was probably the crunchy salmon. For some reason the Taiki roll was much spicier than the heart attack roll, even though the heart attack roll had bigger slices of jalapeño. We also got 6 salmon nigiris. One thing I will say, I did not realize that all the nigiris came with wasabi in between the rice and fish. I hate wasabi, so I ended up trying to scrape as much of it off as I could. We also got the spicy edamame. They were okay. I was expecting a saucy spicy edamame, but it was just a light sprinkling of some type of chili powder that did not have much flavor on it. I'd just save the extra dollar and get regular edamame if you were between the two. The service was great! I'd recommend calling a day in advance to secure a reservation. It is a small, but cozy environment.

Fantastic lunch option around Dallas/richardson if you're craving sushi. They have pretty affordable and sizable lunch box options that includes: sushi, sashimi, chirashi, katsu etc. the raw fish quality is pretty good. The decor is very comfortable and relaxing as well. I loved the welcome sign that goes up and down as the front door opens .

A casual sushi for the price above any expectations. Expect a bit of a wait, but overall staff was helpful.

What a cute sushi gem in Richardson. I've driven this place so many times and never knew it even existed... so glad I finally tried it! It is definitely a smaller restaurant... which gives it a more cozy feeling and staff was able to give you more authentic, and attentive service. I love how they offer a private dining area where guests sit on the floor with shoes off! Our favorite dish was the escolar sashimi. It was fresh and the texture was amazing! The hamachi Kama was really good too, and their pricing of the hamachi is better than other sushi places in the area. We will definitely be back and looking forward to trying their other sushi rolls!

Cozy restaurant - came on a Saturday night and waited 20-30 minutes for a party of 2. Started with the veggie tempura, for entrees we got the chicken katsu dinner and sushi moriawase (spicy tuna roll and 11 assorted pieces of sushi) Entrees came with miso soup and salad - we enjoyed our experience and food. It was one of my favorite sushi places I've tried in the area so far so I definitely recommend for sushi lovers. The only negative was that the katsu took quite a long time to come out but not a huge deal. We were too full for dessert but there were a lot of yummy sounding options like green tea cheesecake and black sesame flan. Maybe a weird note but we love iced tea and theirs was SO good!

Step on in and have a taste of Japon. It was cute and tasty and really good. Be prepared for a wait. It took a while to get all our order out, but worth the wait. Looking for a good sushi spot near us, so when we came here to Dallas to visit my son we were excited to find a good sushi spot. And we were not disappointed. The fish was fresh. The rolls were expertly hand crafted and the service was attentive, courteous and sweet. I started with some hot saki and a Sapporo. We got spicy edamame which was a little small and could have had more spicy goodness. I also had a dragon roll, heart attack roll, and house special 1. All three were good. Dragon had good avocado amd tempura. The heart attack could have been spicier but was good. And the house special was really good with the wasabi root. If you live close it is a must try.

The page came up and my first thought was "how could this place have a rating lower than five stars?" So I read some of the lower-rated reviews, and the answer became obvious: the fish is always fantastic, but some folks are upset about rudeness in the staff, with particular emphasis on one individual, it seems. Having worked for and with quite a few Japanese nationals at an America-based, Japanese owned, heavy manufacturing company, I feel like I've got a bit more street cred when it comes to evaluating sushi joints. Here's how you can tell the best sushi restaurants: look around you while you're there, and listen. Do you see Japanese people? Are they speaking Japanese to each other? Are they enjoying their experience in the restaurant? If you don't see and hear those, you're not in a GOOD sushi joint. We've sampled countless sushi places in Dallas, and Houston, and around the country. The sushi at Sushi Sake ranks in our top ten, nationwide. And the population of Japanese diners seems never to drop below 30%. Have we experienced the rudeness written about by the one- and two star reviewers? Yes. Once, and probably by the person most-complained-about. But the fish was still fantastic. If you're really going to bitch about getting charged for extra ginger, or about a staff member that doesn't treat you like royalty, you probably ought to drop back to those places where the chef makes a volcano out of onion rings and flips a severed shrimp tail into his shirt pocket. The food won't be as good, but they'll kiss your butt so well, you won't even notice. Sushi Sake has some of the best-tasting, best-presented sushi in the greater DFW area. Don't sweat the small stuff. Or do, but do it somewhere else.

There are a number of tables in the front and larger booths in the back. There's also an a sushi bar - although they no longer serve sushi. I never forget that iconic tree. 1 Star. Start with the Salt & Pepper Tofu. Tofu squares are perfectly fried on the outside while maintaining a piping hot soft inside that pairs perfectly with the soy based dip. I also order the Clay Pot Chicken. I read my review from 2013 and I describe it. Thirteen years later it's still super tender, hot, and pairs perfectly with rice. 2 Stars.
