Can't comment on the dining in experience, but for delivery this place gets five stars for me. After moving to the neighborhood, this has been my go-to delivery spot. Food always arrives piping hot and prompt. Naan is always fluffy and fresh. Really haven't had anything I haven't liked - chicken tikka masala and lamb vindaloo are really good. The dinner combo or lunch special are excellent values for the amount of food you get. I really like their mulligatawny soup too - very filling, hearty, and good for cold days. An added bonus for ordering delivery here is that every single delivery person who drops by seems extra friendly. I mean, I never expect it - but it actually is quite nice and makes me want to stay loyal to them haha. Anyhow, if you need a good affordable go-to Indian spot in the neighborhood Masala Grill is definitely not a bad choice. Omg.... Simply put this was awful....This was a online order...I ordered three things: Veg Samosa, Cheese Naan and Paneer Tikka Masala. 1. Vegetable Samosas came in a grease soaked bag, was mostly ALL potato, where were the "mixed vegetables "?!?!?!? I had to drown them in sauce to get some sort of flavor.. 2. The PaneerTikka Masala: a few chunks of Paneer swimming in the sauce, again absolutely tasteless. Cheese Naan was damp around the edges....... I mean seriously? I actually could not eat it, had to throw $30 worth of food away....that hurt, I had no choice. The food at this place is below standard and the service was very slow even though we were the only people in restaurant. The paneer tikka masala was barely edible, malai kofta was sweet and the kofta terrible, chana masala had no taste. None of the food had any flavor or masala. The saving grace was the naan. Warning to stay away! Management or staff must have changed. So disappointing because we used to be regulars here since it opened but changes must have happened because our recent order tasted old and inedible. --The chicken tikka masala was way overcooked and unsafe. It was dry cardboard-like chicken pieces, and some tasted rancid and old so we had to throw it away. This place is awesome! Chill atmosphere, clean tables, really nice staff, and delicious food. I've actually never had Indian food before this meal so this was a fantastic first try. My friend and I each ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, shared an order of the Naan bread (regular, not garlic) and I added the spring rolls (not sure what the official name of this was). The rolls came hot and were super tasty. I'm a fan of spring rolls from every cuisine that offers them, and I really enjoyed the Indian twist. I loved the Naan bread (I am a major bread enthusiast) and it paired perfectly with the Masala. Our server (I imagine he might be the manager or owner?) was attentive, welcoming and sincerely friendly. He kept my water filled (I drank a looootttt), was very willing to answer questions and checked in throughout the meal. I haven't seen my friend in about 8 months so we had plenty to talk about, and it wasn't too busy this evening so we sat at our table for a while - maybe 1.5 hours. We felt welcome and at ease the entire time. The meal was also very well-priced. For the appetizer, 2 entrees and 1 side to share, it came out to about $35 total before tips. I've ordered in from here a few times. They're always on time and the food is always hot, fresh and tasty. My Indian food go-to is vegetable jalfrezie and their's is pretty good. Not the best I've ever had (the sauce is just a little oily for me) but solid and well worth the price. Also, they don't carry brown rice-which makes me sad-but the basmati rice is good. Food very is excellent, substantial portions and comes with all the traditional sauces. What I liked about the Chicken Tikka with smaller but more chunks of chicken and the garlic curry lamb had a ton of garlic (as the name implies) and also smaller but more and extremely tender pieces of lamb. I ended up here because the seafood restaurant was closed. It's a clean nicely decorated restaurant. We were seated immediately and got water and the crisps. But this place took 27 minutes to serve us our entree and we were going to walk out until the food came in a Knick of time. I had lamb Bhoti with basmati rice and garlic naan. The lamb was tasty but could have used some salt, there was none in the table. There was no gravy with this meat so I had dry rice or had to mix the meat and ask for tamarind sauce. I'm sorry to leave a bad review but enough is enough. The food is absolutely delicious but the service is getting pretty bad lately. They give me the wrong food, which is not a big deal but it shows their lack of attention. The thing is, we were only 3 tables and they still wouldn't pay attention. Each dish is served with rice, but they didn't want to give each person their bowl. They said we have to finish one bowl first. Okay, at least it'll be warm. I try to get the waiter's attention to get the next bowl of rice, and he keeps ignoring me because he keeps staring at his phone. No refill on drinks, he never comes to the table to check on us, I keep calling him and he doesn't even notice me. It's not the first or second time though. They're constantly on their phones and don't pay attention. I understand if they're bored and they're entertaining themselves, but come on. I've been waiting a long time for a good Indian place to open up near me in Boerum Hill. This one's just a 5-minute walk AND it's on Seamless so of course, I placed an order for pickup. They have lunch specials from noon to 4, which is a very generous window. They have lunch specials for multiple people or lunch boxes for one person (though the portions are large). I ordered the lamb curry lunch box, which came with a side of chana shaag (spinach/chickpeas), basmati rice, a gigantic naan bread, and a ton of sauces (including mango chutney, red onions, and a green hot sauce. The curry had a nice spice to it, and a lot of meat stuffed into a tiny container. The naan was incredibly fluffy. The chana shaag was creamy, with a great textural mix with the chickpeas. Only complaint was that they left the star anise in, which is a terrible surprise to bite into. Did I already mention that it was a LOT of food? Definitely more of a dinner box. Pretty good Indian food! We enjoyed the tandoori chicken tikka as well as the chicken Tikka masala curry. We also split samosas but found it to be ehh...the green sauce is good tho. Service was okay. It could have been better. We asked for no rice and if they can substitute it with at least plain naan but the guy said no...also did not like that I had to wait and keep asking for the water to be filled..why couldn't they just leave the pitcher of water on the table? They did not not have one of our requested appetizers, so they gave me a ring and asked what I would like to substitute instead--the man was incredibly patient with me as I looked up the menu again to figure out our other options. While my lassi didn't make it in the delivery and one of our garlic naans was subbed for an alternate (which ended up being super tasty), everything else came and was perfectly cooked and warm, so no real complaints there. Have eaten here 30+ times in 3 years of being here. They're always happy to see us. Expect the complimentary papadan (the Indian version of chips and salsa), and an occasional complimentary kheer pudding for dessert. Their service is good, but the food is what steals the show for me. Some menu items are admittedly a big weaker (the biryani was slightly disappointing the one time I got it) but the staples can't be beat anywhere else in the city, including the uber expensive places like Sapphire in Manhattan. They kept telling me to call back and hung up on me several times. After 10 times if trying to call them I gave up. Went during a non busy time but had alot of take out orders as Uber/DoorDash people kept picking up food. They give a complimentary appetizer that I don't remember the name of but was good along with 3 different sauces. My favourite is the green sauce. It would go so well with a samosa or pakora which I've got to try next time. I wanted butter chicken and gave a good portion. Not too much not too little just right. It was okay. It wasn't horrible but I have had better. Although I finished it all. I guess everyone makes butter chicken in a different way or a preference . We were a group of 6 and despite the very small space, we were easily accommodated, but we arrived for lunch shortly after opening, so I'd suggest calling ahead if your group is larger than 4. We had multiple dishes but the standouts were the Lamb Bhoti omg it was....i can't even find words....it was just crazy good!! So well seasoned and grilled kabob style, this is a must have. The Shrimp Basmati rice was excellent; the fresh sliced cucumbers placed on the side are the perfect cool crisp compliment to this flavorful and hearty rice dish. Extra credit for those wonderfully herbaceous crackers they give you to snack on while you wait for your meal. Theyre complementary and come with several different sauces, of which the tamarind was my favorite! I could never stop eating those crackers and dip; they were such a delicious surprise!! They get a minus for the iced tea; I was expecting something that represented the food, something full of spices/flavor, but it was just plain old powdered iced tea. And the Mango Lassi was more like a piña colada, so beware it will not quench your thirst and will make you full. But this place is about the food! They were so accommodating and said they would make sure the food was delivered before their open of operations for the day. The food arrived early the next day, Imran was incredibly generous and helpful with the delivery. I can't say more, it really felt like a mom and pop shop who goes the extra mile. Last nights order was supposed to take an hour... so much for "ASAP Delivery". An hour later I got notification that my order was out for delivery, however waited another 40 minutes for it to get there. That would have been okay, if the food was hot... warm would have been good too, but it was not. Cold food in greasy paper bags. Delivery took 90 minutes to reach me, and when it finally arrived, the order was incorrect (this despite my having ordered online). Food quality has really deteriorated -- ordered chicken tikka masala that was bathed in oil. And, more distressingly, I found a hair in my eggplant appetizer.
