This place is very busy with regulars, so, apparently, they are not too concerned with providing a good service to people like me and the group I came with whom they do not recognize. We never got offered tea refills and had hard time getting anyone's attention in order to get napkins or chopsticks to replace the ones accidentally dropped. The food was good, but no better than in any other place along the Sheepshead Bay road. A notable happy accident - we got a salmon skin roll which turned out to be amazing due to the waiter misunderstanding our order. It's not on the menu, but worth trying. read more

This place has the best sushi I think I ever had in this area. Seriously the yellow tail and jalapeño was amazing, the Kiss of Fire roll was to DIE for seriously, so fresh, so tasty, get it with avocado on top and you'll be in heaven. My boyfriend got chicken teriyaki dinner bento box which seemed pricy but came with a lot of things and they didn't cheap out on us even though it was a delivery which was a great surprise. The fish was just as fresh as I would assume it would've been in restaurant, many places I feel when you order for delivery give fish that isn't as fresh since they feel they can get away with it. After we asked for the check from the same waitress she completely forgot to bring it over so we ended up asking another wait staff member and we had the check almost instantly. I know the service industry is still on the rocks, but truly the experience was unacceptable. To have other tables who came in way later get their food before you and to have to keep on asking where your food is, is not great. We appreciate that restaurants are eager to get back to "normal," but for safety they still must follow the rules. Masakari tonight did not enforce the six foot distance between tables, nor were there any plastic shielding set up between tables sitting right next to one another. When we first came in, they were leaving every other table vacant, but then a party of four were seated right next us and when I complained the party being seated were quite obnoxious about my objecting and asking they be moved. They eventually did move but the place was pretty much packed after that, so we left without finishing our meal. In fact, while my wife had been served, I was waiting for 20 minutes and had yet to get my dinner. We just left at that point (and weren't charged for the meal), and won't be back. read more

Cool thing is it leaves enough money in your pocket to try some of their beautifully hand crafted specialty rolls. Not just the dragon, spider options you'll find everywhere, they have pages of chef specialties that will keep you curious for something new every time you come. Friend took me here for a quick lunch; we were literally in and out of the restaurant within 30 minutes. Service was good and super fast! No complaints. I got the Spicy Salmon Avocado Salad ($7.50) and an East Roll ($2.50). The salad came with greens, avocado, and a ball of chopped salmon, held together with spicy mayo. In most of places, the greens are gross and not fresh but that wasn't the case here. All their ingredients were FRESH. More to say, the spicy mayo (my worst fear) was not overbearing and actually complimented the dish. Imagine eating fresh greens, a slice of avocado, and some salmon sashimi with a kick of spicy mayo... YUM! The East Roll, a regular roll, was nothing spectacular but I mean, after having their salad I wouldn't really expect them to mess up on something so ordinary. Oh! First of all - it took them 1 hour and 30 minutes to deliver after calling them twice (and this wasn't the first time unfortunately the first time I didn't learn my lesson). We've been coming here for years and have always had a great experience. The waiters are nice, knowledgeable, attentive and caring. The atmosphere is pleasant but it does get a bit loud towards the evening. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. The only negative that I can say is that it's not ideal coming here as soon as they open -- the food takes a while to get made, most likely because the chef's are still getting setup and preparing. This had to get a five stars! I have literally been coming here since the place opened with my family. The food quality is always at the top of its game and the sauces here are unbelievable. Depending on who you have waiting on you can really alter your experience. For the most part the staff is good and by far the best is ANDREAS! If you are lucky enough to have Andreas as your waiter you will literally feel as though you are in the most expensive place and getting the most ridiculous service. Seriously, he's that good. My gf and I came here with my parents after raving about him and they too were floored with his service which was really nice.
