Masa y Más had great service we were greeted immediately. We had never been so they were very kind in giving us suggestions on what to try on our first trip there. We tried the Tacos, Queso, and Guac and they were al delicious the Pepitas on the guacamole were such a nice touch of crunch! I tried the agua de Jamaica and it was good but had a bit too much cinnamon for my liking. Overall it was a great experience, I would def recommend.

Very good tradicional tacos in a quick casual counter service spot in the busy South Lamar corridor. We had pork, barbacoa, birria and chicken tacos and they were all very good. Tortillas are fresh and firm. The quezo was good too. Some easy free reserved parking and a nice covered patio outside. Canned sodas and aguas frescas, plus margaritas at the bar and domestic + Mexican beers with a decent selection,.

When I first came to Masa y Más, what sold me was the employee who took our order. He was incredibly passionate and really knew everything about Masa y Más, including their food sourcing. Ingredients are as fresh as they can be! I've tried the Al Pastor and the Barbacoa de Cachete, along with the Elote Callejero. My personal favorite was the Al Pastor, which is really not a surprise as it's a classic. Meat was tender with basic ingredients that gave those classic Latin flavors (cilantro, lime, red onions). Though there is an entire salsa fridge for patrons to choose from, you really didn't need it! Heads up: tacos are street taco sized, which means order about 2-3. I also ordered the Elote, as I saw several reviews raving about it, but didn't have the authentic zhush I wanted. The indoor seating here KILLS ME. Minimal seating either meant for couples or solo eaters, which is the opposite of what the Latin culture is about! Outdoor seating caters to groups of 3+, but who really wants to sit outside in 100+ degree weather...

It's expensive for what you get- particularly the margs. However, the margaritas were good and only $5 for a small on Mondays! ($10 for the double) They got my order wrong and told me I could always order more instead of just fixing it. Not a huge deal, but not excellent. The brisket tacos are pretty 4 types of salsa line the fridge. The jalapeño was my fav! The queso is torched on top, so like a hybrid queso and flameado. It isn't particularly romantic or vibey, but it's be a good place to hh with coworkers. You hear it's free chips and salsa on Tues! And taco hh M-F gets you a few bucks off.

This place is super cute & has outdoor sitting ( love that for fur parents ). We went for lunch on a Thursday and it was super fast. You order at the register and they bring your foot to the table. I got the following: Watermelon Fresca - it was refreshing just a bit on sweeter side Birria Taco - very tasteful and their consume was pretty tasty. HONGOS Y PAPAS (v) - this was okay nothing wow about it but for someone who may be vegetarian this is a good one to have Brisket taco - the meat was overbearing for the size of the taco. It brisket was tender but it was just bit too much meat for me. Service was great and we will be back to try more. I did see a sign that on Mondays margaritas are $5 .

Came here with our friend who's local and a regular. Plenty of parking available in their lot which is a huge plus for Austin. The interior and outdoor patio are spacious, bright and clean. To start, we got the tres compadres. The chips are seasoned well, thin and crispy. The salsa and queso had good flavors as well. The 5 mini taco plate was perfect to sample different meats. My favorites are the Birria and Al Pastor. The quesadillas were solid too. Overall very good portion for the price. We were full but there's always a little extra room for freshly made churros. Our server was friendly and attentive. Would definitely stop by again when we are in town.

We ate here for dinner on Wednesday and enjoyed it. We were able to walk right up to the cash register and order immediately, then they brought our food out pretty quickly too, which was nice. Inside of the store was very well kept & clean. As for the food, it was solid. The blue corn tortillas on the shrimp/camarones tacos was delicious and a nice change up, and I liked their guac as well. My fiancé also liked her tacos and preferred the Al pastor over the barbacoa one (the barbacoa was good but greasy). Prices were reasonable too. We would eat here again!

Masa y Mas was our last stop after leaving 2 other overly crowded restaurants. We were grumpy, hot, and starving. Luckily, it was $5 Margarita Monday! We order our margs, the tres compadres, a suadero bowl, and 2 tacos (pastor and suadero). It's first come first serve seating and we were lucky enough to snag the last booth! Our food comes quickly, like, 4 minutes after sitting quickly. Tears almost filled my eyes as it was a full house and I assumed it .was gonna be a wait. The food was good! The margaritas were cold! My hangriness disappeared instantaneously! It was kind of hot in the building, I hope they're able to improve that for their team as it gets hotter throughout the summer.

I have been anxiously awaiting the opening of this restaurant, and today (1) it was opening day; (2) I was nearby; (3) I was hungry. All signs pointed to my enjoying lunch at Masa y Mas. This location has been home to many restaurants in the past--remember Austin Pizza?--but I was awed by the beautiful transition to Masa y Mas. There is a very nice outdoor dining area, and the inside is bright and airy with high ceilings and lots of windows that admit exterior light. Really pretty. It is a casual restaurant where you order at the counter, and your meal is delivered to you, wherever you are sitting. I tried the Camarones Fritas--Cerveza Battered Shrimp, Cabbage, Chipotle Mayo, Pineapple Pico, Radish, Avocado, Blue Corn Tortilla. Mine did not come on a blue corn tortilla, but otherwise, it was very tasty. The taco had four shrimp, which were lightly battered and fried. It was so full, I could not fold it over to eat it; but I am not complaining. Had to try the chips and queso and, hey, there were several bottles of tequila so, yeah, add a marg, rock, no salt to my order. The margarita arrived with salt, but there was a straw, so I slurped it up. Bartender did not skimp on the tequila. :) Chips were good--thick and crispy, maybe made in house?--and the queso was yellow and dense topped with pico de gallo. I didn't intend to, but I ate it all. The service was good and friendly, and one of the owners, Chuck, came by to introduce himself and make sure things were good. They were. I think this will be a great place to stop by for a quick bite or linger on the patio with some drinks. The menu looks interesting, and I'll definitely be back to try more items. Good luck, Masa y Mas, and welcome to the 'hood!

Solid taco addition to the neighborhood with a great happy hour. We came for lunch on a Monday (they are now open Mondays!) and were very happy with our orders. For starters, I love a place that has a varity of salsas. We tried them all. I think my favorites were the green salsa and the habanero but it's worth trying them all. I ordered the queso (on HH, which I think is all day Mondays but not sure) and two tacos. The shrimp taco on the house made purple corn tortillas was fantastic! Any place that makes their corn tortillas will always be a step up in my book. I also ordered the special of the week which was good but not great. I probably should have gone with one of the other items on the menu. The queso was solid but I didn't love the top layer of cooked cheese because it just seemed to break the chips since they are on the thinner side. All in all, the meal was great, prices are in line with pretty much every other taco restaurant in town and all of the workers were top notch. We'll definitely be back.

Mushroom tacos (with and without cheese), guacamole, Brussels sprouts (both without cheese)

More than any other food, tacos define the Austin dining scene. You can't walk a block without stumbling across another taco truck, full scale taqueria, or random cafe that simply has tacos on the menu. Still, there's always room for more; mucho mas. Enter: Masa y Mas. Brand new on South Lamar and already generating a steady buzz. They're making their tortillas on site, which is reason enough to be excited. It's traditional Mexican fare with an upscale vibe and a modern twist, including some vegetarian and easily veganized options. I was sad to miss out on the coliflor fritas (fried cauliflower,) but at least this gives me an excuse to return. The hongos y papas (mushrooms and potatoes) san queso provided a tempting taste of what's to come. Savory portobello sauteed with Brussels sprouts, spinach, and potatoes is even better if you order guacamole on the side (no cheese) and slather that on top, too. Brussels sprouts are a must-order side (again, no cheese, no aioli) for their uniquely sweet glaze, crispy finish, and tenderness all the way through. Garnished with crunchy pepitas, it's an amazing value for a satisfying app. In conclusion, if you don't feel inclined to eat tacos, maybe that's a you problem, because these are always welcome by me.

    SUADERO & POLLO ADOBADO

Living off South Lamar I was super excited to see a new taco shop open up as the pickings are slim in these neck of the woods. The first things that stands out right away before you walk in is the colorful murals and the ample amount of parking spots but don't let this fool you as this place is always packed! Luckily when I came in for a late lunch it wasn't too bad and was able to order right away. The menu is simple but offers enough options for everyone whether your in the mood for tacos or a bowl a margarita or an Agua Fresca which is essentially what we had. My Birria bowl had a little of everything and was perfectly balanced on flavors while my partners opted for the pollo adobado and & the suadero tacos. Food came out super quick and the bus boy checked in and cleared our table when needed. Obviously I think like any new restaurant I think there small kinks there working on and there tacos & bowls didn't blow me away but it was quick, tasty enough & priced right so I for one will be coming back.

While driving down South Lamar trying to decide on where to go have lunch on a Saturday that wouldn't have a long wait, we came across Masa y Más. It was obvious they were busy, but we made the most of it and found the only table available outside and sat there while we waited for someone to come over and clean it. We also had to grab our own menus cause otherwise we would have been there forever. Had the carne asada taco and the mini quesadillas and they both tasted great. Asked for some spicy sauce and they gave me a container of green salsa. It wasn't as hot as I'd hoped but really tasty. Had the passionfruit mezcalrita and it was even better than expected. Overall, a good choice for tacos and drinks in the area.

I ordered 2 steak tacos and horchata, both very delicious. The horchata is milky and sweet but not crazy sweet, and topped off with cinnamon. The steak tacos came out pretty hot, fresh from the grill. I got them on corn tortillas and I'm glad I did: idk if they make them in house but somebody in some house is making these because they definitely aren't store bought, and if they are I want to know where! I tried the orange habanero and creamy serrano salsas. The habanero was spicy off the bat, while the serrano had more of a lingering burn. Both paired well with the steak. They have a little bar, too, though I did not imbibe this time. Seems like they have a decent selection of agave spirits, and even Campari behind the bar (iykyk). Give them a shot, and thank the ladies in the kitchen.
