Got two pizzas and a salad to go, went to the plaza and had a little picnic! It was SOOOO good! Food awesome! However, when we went in to order, service is not great. They all come across as if they are so busy and have no patience. When in reality the place was dead and overstaffed. Would for sure come back for take out but not to dine in.

Bone in wings (blue cheese in the side) and Mary's salad (small). Mary's Italian dressing.

To die for! Excellent service. Even when I order to-go. Everything I order is always consistent in the taste and presentation! Mary's salad is the best salad I've ever tasted! And how do they make the wings so savory!!! Yummy!

We have been going to this MARYS location for a few years now. It is always a wonderful experience located downtown Sonoma across from the park. We went on Friday, May 1 and we ordered the lunch festival, which was clam chowder and salad and an appetizer of calamari which comes with hot sourdough French bread and butter. The meal was amazing like always.! The owner Vince and Chef Francis really puts his heart and soul into all the food. Our waitress was Michele and she is awesome she is very helpful and an excellent server. Always taking care of anything we may need. We had such a good time that we ordered up a quart of clam chowder to take home as well as a margarita pizza which is a fantastic pizza! This is one of our go to restaurants in the area and it's always a wonderful experience. Every time we leave, we can't wait to get back and enjoy their

Looked pretty but meh.

We were staying in Sonoma to visit relatives. I'm a bit of a pizza snob and from the New Jersey/NYC area, and I love our pizzas. Each state has its style, and that's fine. Even so, I'm not into pretentious pizza, meaning the overly burnt, no cheese, with tons of arugula on it, so that you can't even see the pizza. You get my point. Dave Portnoy is not my fav. I love floppy pizza and unburnt crust. Mary's was just okay. Too much burnt crust, not enough cheese, and small for the price. We took a few bites and left it at that.

Mushroom pizza from Mary's Pizza Shack downtown Sonoma

I'm generally very pleased with Mary's in general, especially the one right next to Sonoma Plaza. It has great "outdoor" seating with a great fireplace. My favorite pizza they make is mushroom. I love mushrooms, and they lay them so thick on the pizza, it's hard to tell there's a pizza under there! I stopped there for a small mushroom pizza to go yesterday. There probably weren't a dozen mushrooms on that pizza, which I was unaware of until I got home and opened the box. That was a disappointment. However, I sat at the bar while I waited for my to go order, and enjoyed the company of bartender Dominic who can make a heck of a Cadillac Margarita! Although I was disappointed in the pizza, I hope it was just a one time mistake. As you can see, not many mushrooms on my mushroom pizza.

It's not Chicago style, but boy was it fresh & tasty!!! while on the wine tour, the guide took us to this beautiful area downtown Sonoma (I'm assuming). There were countless eatery options, but hey, you can almost rest assured when it comes to pizza place, they'll be something you like! Mary's was a perfect choice for us! The food was delicious and Hubs got to watch a game, lol! Win-win!!

I can't believe I have never reviewed Mary's! It's a Sonoma staple! I have been many times over the years, and they have always been consistent. Great service, breadsticks, salads, and pizza's. Great for families, work meetings or girls night out! They have gluten free and high protein options, so it's a great place for groups, something for everyone! An excellent place for a casual lunch or dinner.

What is that smokey, charred taste?

Ordered delivery, provided detailed instructions to the front house. Called to learn delivered to wrong address. Driver confronted me regarding his wrong delivery and that unidentified neighbor said the pizza was for their address. A new order was generated. My order arrived with the entire crust burnt. I have supported Mary's Pizza since 1992, never have I received such poor quality meal or delivery.

Mary's shack is a great place always to come share pizza with friends. Love having them catered for parties always so yummy! Came in after I had my first baby for a sit in dinner and had a nice dinner with my partner. As of recently of March/2026 if not had the greatest experience with front of house and coming inside for pickup. I waited for a server to get to me only for them to let me know someone will be available soon. I was prompted for another wait only this time to be received by a not customer service trained staff member who was rude and unprofessional handed over my pickup order. Would like to hear that this will be improved and resolved!

We were on a wine tour and our bus driver dropped us off in Sonoma Plaza to grab a bite to eat. We were in the mood for pizza and wandered into Mary's. It was a warm day and although our preference would have been to sit on the patio, we opted for a booth inside. The inside decor made us feel like we were stepping back in time! We were warmly greeted by our server and she quickly brought us ice waters and sodas. After reviewing the menu, we decided to start with the Italian Wedge Salad. It was large enough to split, cold and crisp with a tangy Italian dressing. The tomatoes were especially sweet and delicious! We also ordered a classic crust pepperoni and Italian sausage pizza. It was pizza perfection! Loaded with toppings and the crust was crisp yet chewy. I don't know if I will ever make it back to Sonoma Plaza, but if I do I will definitely make a point of stopping in to Mary's for a tasty salad and pizza!

Dropped by Mary's late after a full-day volleyball tournament nearby, and we were definitely hungry. The staff were welcoming, along with being prompt and friendly in their service, including being quickly helpful after we spilled one of our water cups and checking in throughout the dinner. The restaurant had a warm, down home, historic feeling which was great. The best parts of the dinner were: - Warm sourdough bread with whipped butter - Mary's signature Italian-style salad which included different textures and tastes, and was a generous portion - Mary's giant meatball which was large, tender and flavorful - Pretty long cocktail, wine and beer list Things that we thought could have been better: - The fried calimari felt underseasoned for our tastes - The spaghetti meat sauce was a bit watery - The gnocchi was not as tender and fluffy as we were hoping Overall, it was a solid experience, and we definitely left full!

Lunch combo: slice (pepperoni/jals/pineappe) and a house salad w a diet!

I've grown up going to Mary's! My fav thing when I was little was getting the free bread sticks! Not sure if they do that anymore?! Anyway, the pizza here is always consistent, it's not my fav, but I'll eat it. But I have always been a HUGE fan of their house salad and their home made dressings (ranch, Italian and blue cheese)-yes please! If I'm there at lunch, I'll get the slice and salad combo with a soda-it's filling and very affordable! I picked up a large order for a Dr office, I called ahead and requested for it to be ready by a certain time, but asked if mine could be ready sooner-which it was! The service was good and the guy even helped me out to my car, which was very sweet! Everything I ordered was there, so the office were happy campers!

Specials menu June 2024

My husband and I were passing through Sonoma one evening back in June and worked up an appetite. We hadn't planned to stop and didn't want to spend on a fancy dinner that day, so Mary's Pizza Shack caught our eye in terms of price point. We hadn't had Italian food in a while and I was craving pasta, so we decided to try it. Upon walking in, we loved the high ceilings and the homestyle feel of the establishment. It was busy, but we were able to get a table relatively quickly. I took a brief look at the regular menu, but was drawn to the seasonal delights. I decided to go with the lemon shrimp linguini, and my husband went with the Mary's classic lasagna. Both of us opted for soup instead of salad, and chose the minestrone. It was a bit of a wait to get our food, but we didn't mind as we weren't in a rush. The minestrone was well-seasoned and flavorful, and had savory pieces of meat. The veggies were not overcooked. It was your classic minestrone and the perfect start to our meal. My linguini was the first to arrive, and shortly after came the lasagna. The linguini had six juicy shrimp and the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the kick of spice from the chili flakes, and decided not to add extra. The flavor of the dish was well-balanced, but presentation-wise, it was missing the grilled lemon as stated in the menu. However, I personally didn't feel like the dish needed the lemon, but if I returned to Mary's, I'd like to see how the lemon would change the flavor profile. I didn't get a chance to try my husband's lasagna, but he gave it solid remarks and whatever little I got to savor of the remaining meat sauce, I enjoyed. Halfway through our dinner we realized that our server still hadn't given us the sourdough bread that was supposed to come with my husband's meal, as clearly stated in the menu. We asked for it and it arrived just in time for us to soak up the leftover sauces from our dishes. It was also perfectly warm and crunchy while being soft on the inside. Overall, Mary's Pizza Shack is a good option if you don't want to spend top dollar on the other restaurants in downtown Sonoma, and next time I'd like to try their pizza slices if I want a quick bite. Keep in mind, however, that I have had plenty of top-notch pasta from Half Moon Bay to Monterey, and while Mary's hits the spot, don't expect the same level of quality or depth of flavor in Mary's pasta dishes as those from dedicated pasta restaurants who make their pasta in-house. Again I would love to try their pizza the next time we visit Sonoma.

My first time here but will definitely not be my last! I can't believe I've lived so close to this…read morelittle slice of heaven! I ordered a pepperoni pizza with prosciutto and a Margherita pizza. The pepperoni with prosciutto pizza was rich, smoky, and perfectly salty with crispy edges that curled into little pockets of flavor. The dough had that beautiful airy chew with a slightly tangy, fermented taste that made every bite feel authentic and deeply satisfying. The crust was blistered golden and lightly charred with a crisp exterior that gave way to a soft pillowy center. The Margherita pizza was simple in the best possible way. It was fresh, bright, and incredibly balanced. The sauce tasted vibrant and slightly sweet, the mozzarella was creamy and delicate, and the basil added a fragrant finish that tied everything together. The dough again completely stole the show with its light texture, subtle sourdough flavor, and perfectly crisp bottom. The crust was rustic, fluffy, and beautifully caramelized. The ambiance was warm, lively, and inviting, making it easy to relax and enjoy the meal, but the customer service was even better. The staff was attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming from start to finish, which made the entire experience feel memorable beyond just the food. Most definitely recommend!!

Next came my expectations......gone, we paid extra for Feta and Cheese, neither could be bee seen evenly through the whole pie. The sauce and cheese inconsistency was baffling... why would anyone claim that this was anything that Little Ceasars couldn't easily beat, seemed that quality had been replaced with "Just get it out the door". The final two pies were so substandard that I could Hardly compare them to anything worthy of Jacobs name. I'd give this places 1/2 Star if I could. The owners should be ashamed of selling this.

Theres always this good balance professionalism with lightheartedness that pair so well for the atmosphere. Because at its core this restaurant is high scale. It definitely has that higher scale vibe but if never comes off as pretentious though. This particular I took my wifey here for our 10th year anniversary together. And we were greeting by a nice little card from the "Fig Family." We ended up trying the Seared Halloumi and I was shocked at how much I liked it. Very light flavors but still enough variety with the crispy spigarello and pine nuts to keep things fun. The lemon never feels too overwhelming. For mains my wife got the Mushroom RisottoI think? Or maybe it was Butternut Squash Risotto? I got the Fig Burger and both were amazing. The only reason I didn't get her Risotto was simply because I already had it at lunch time, but that still didn't stop me from taking a bite. Each rice like grain had a perfect chew and flavor to each bite. Even being the picky person that I am with veggies, I appreciated the veggies addition to the dish. I still think though that the sure winner was my Fig Burger. This burger is everything we wish our local breweries burger was. A harmonic balance between salty and sweet. Im down to get a little crazy with burgers but if it's too sweet, it kinda loses the appeal for me. It takes away too much from the burgers roots. So yea. Go here. Make reservations too. I know for myself I made mine about a month in advance so it's hard to say how hard it is to get a table here. But hopefully it's not too bad. Parking by the way is just street parking. Despite that Ive always been able to get a park on W Spain St right before I pull up to the restaurant. OH! And thanks again Girl and the Fig family!
