Spaghetti and meatballs for lunch on a Wednesday.
Ana V.

I'm basing this review on their meatballs and lunch offerings, as I have not had much of Mary's pizza at this location. Environment: to eat outside here is a fabulous, warm place. The wait staff are very warm and down to earth. The spaghetti and meatballs lunch with salad is truly awesome if you are craving that old school spaghetti feeling. They also have specials and cool desserts. Will eat here anytime. I love Mary's Pizza Shack.

Ancient Grains Salad - Hearty, fresh and DELICIOUS

First off, Marys Pizza Shack is SO MUCH MORE THAN PIZZA! We sat outside for lunch on the shaded patio and spent some time going over the extensive menu. We came hungry and everything sounded good so it was a tough decision. Our server was excellent and patient with us. We decided to split the Ancient Greens Salad and the Chicken Parmesan entree. The salad would have been hearty enough for the two of us, it was full of delicious ingredients and a blend of fresh lettuces all in a light citrus vinegarette. But...once the entree came to the table it was like we had grown a second stomach. We devoured the pasta that was cooked al dente and had a light white sauce and the breaded and lightly fried chicken breast that was covered in a fresh tomato sauce. The quality was fabulous and what a value for the price.

This is a local favorite, baby showers, birthdays, meetings, holiday parties. My meal was delicious and relaxing mellow under the shade tree. They were slammed, but my sandwich was worth the wait. REALLY WORTH IT!

Pizza great!!! Loved the crust. My first time there visiting and it was good. Patio is great, sat under a 100 year old Magnolia tree. I will be back every time in Sonoma. 62 years in business tells ya they are doing something right. Give it a try

Bad pizza. Does it look like half cheese????

Everything needs to be improved. Just paid $60 for a pizza and salad. Pizza toppings wrong, not edible. Wedge salad was a joke Salad dressing tastes like water and garlic, obviously runny Every order is wrong, even when dining in.

Great service, meh pizza. If the pizza matched the smiles, it'd be a five-star shack. But hey, at least the breadsticks are on point!

My first time here but will definitely not be my last! I can't believe I've lived so close to this…read morelittle slice of heaven! I ordered a pepperoni pizza with prosciutto and a Margherita pizza. The pepperoni with prosciutto pizza was rich, smoky, and perfectly salty with crispy edges that curled into little pockets of flavor. The dough had that beautiful airy chew with a slightly tangy, fermented taste that made every bite feel authentic and deeply satisfying. The crust was blistered golden and lightly charred with a crisp exterior that gave way to a soft pillowy center. The Margherita pizza was simple in the best possible way. It was fresh, bright, and incredibly balanced. The sauce tasted vibrant and slightly sweet, the mozzarella was creamy and delicate, and the basil added a fragrant finish that tied everything together. The dough again completely stole the show with its light texture, subtle sourdough flavor, and perfectly crisp bottom. The crust was rustic, fluffy, and beautifully caramelized. The ambiance was warm, lively, and inviting, making it easy to relax and enjoy the meal, but the customer service was even better. The staff was attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming from start to finish, which made the entire experience feel memorable beyond just the food. Most definitely recommend!!

The Neapolitan-style pizza was spot on, and the meatballs and salad were the perfect complements. Since it was a Friday, the dining room was packed, but grabbed a spot along the bar. The staff were super attentive even though they were very busy and they were also very friendly. The food was delicious, my wife and I got a large Sonoma Pizza and a mixed green salad to share. Before we even got to the pizza, that was the best green salad I've ever had. Simple, yummy, especially the cucumbers and cherry tomatoes. I am a pizza snob, and with the exception of Mountain Mike's, I can't stand any of the big chains. The Sonoma pizza had the perfect balance of pepperoni, salami, mushrooms, onions and garlic. The restaurant was also impeccably decorated, with a splash of Italy and Sonoma Wine country represented. Every dish they walked by made my mouth water. We definitely be going back again and again, especially when we head out that way for wine tasting.

The look on my wife's face, said it before the boxes were even on the Kitchen Table. To begin with the Greek Salad was nothing but greens with little or nothing extra, barely Artichoke Hearts, Cucumbers and any Pepper Slices, no olives or Feta... enter dressing was lacking any true flavor, nothing of what I expected for the money. Next came my expectations......gone, we paid extra for Feta and Cheese, neither could be bee seen evenly through the whole pie. The sauce and cheese inconsistency was baffling... why would anyone claim that this was anything that Little Ceasars couldn't easily beat, seemed that quality had been replaced with "Just get it out the door". The final two pies were so substandard that I could Hardly compare them to anything worthy of Jacobs name. I'd give this places 1/2 Star if I could. The owners should be ashamed of selling this.

We loved everything from the food, chic ambiance to the charm of the place that makes it seem like a special place. The restaurant hearing upon my little one celebrated her fourth birthday last week, whipped up a hand written birthday card welcoming her to the restaurant (pic for reference). The staff was so friendly and patient with my chatty elder one too. Overall, it was a great experience and opened up our Sonoma trip well. Gave us a great impression on the hotel too. Oh, the food. I almost forgot. We had a little bit of everything. But two things I wanted to point out - contrary to what is out there, they DO have a kids' menu and do give you one as a part of their coloring book. Second, the steak was great. Being an aspiring vegetarian, I don't say this too often, but the steak was darn good. Our server made him feel like an adult and waited on him as well. In 1959, family matriarch Mary Fazio opened up a "shack" serving up Italian homemade comfort food. That shack was in nearby Boyes Hot Springs. The shack is long gone and the family still runs their local restaurants. I'm no stranger to Mary's Pizza. Been dining at their various locations for over 20 years. My go to faves are the pizza and Mary's house salad. But I've never had anything I didn't like from them. The pizza when baked right has a crust with a nice chew and perfect combination of crisp exterior and soft interior. They use quality ingredients. I like that they use the traditional pepperoni with natural casing, it curls up into little cups when baked. Taste all so good. Mmm. Terrific, classic cheese stretch. Pizza sauce is housemade, as is the Sonoma salad dressing. I order that dressing with the signature salad which is another fave of mine. The late weekday afternoon I dropped in, our waiter was enthusiastic and engaging. But possibly due to staffing levels, he forgot to provide plates for the pizza he dropped off and the other items we requested (napkins, refills, the check). By the time we arrived, most of the local businesses had already closed for the evening, but thankfully Mary's Pizza Shack was still open and welcoming. It's charming without trying too hard, and it has that nostalgic, homey vibe that makes you want to sit down, relax, and stay awhile. Customer service was genuinely friendly, which we appreciated after a long day of exploring. Even though it was later in the evening, the staff didn't rush us or make us feel like we were an inconvenience. Instead, they were warm, attentive, and happy to have us there. If you're in Sonoma and looking for a laid‑back place to grab a bite -- whether you're with family, a partner, or just want a chill night out -- Mary's Pizza Shack is a solid choice. It ended up being the perfect unexpected stop on our little adventure.
