I've really wanted to like this place over the years and left multiple reviews. Here's what it boils down to. They make a good, overpriced small/medium size pizza. Only one size and it isn't very big. I've watched their prices steadily go through the roof, up like 40% over a couple of years, making their pizza ridiculously unaffordable. $36 before tax for a WTF pizza is truly WTF! In the picture is shows it was $25 just a couple of years ago. Where does it stop? One guy can easily eat it. I have experienced them not answering their phone or closing early before stated business hours, ignored at their counter. Sonoma needs a good pizza place, but this ain't it unless you have lots of money, and feel lucky. I give this place two huge thumbs down and won't go there anymore. Strong NO.

Margarita pizza, Misto salad, wine and olives! Perfecto!

Great pizza perfect date night! Special through winter is a bottle of Highway 12 can sauv, a good sized margarita pizza and a yummy misto salad. For $45 plus tax and tip. Cannot be beat in Sonoma!

WTF pizza

Delicious wood fired pizza. Small restaurant and small patio area for seating. Pizza came out fast and lavender lemonade was delicious! We had the WTF pizza which comes loaded with sausage, brisket, sautéed onions and lotsa meat and cheese. It was too big for the two of us to finish. Would definitely come back to try other pizzas and the desserts looked bomb!

I ordered through door dash, but our food arrived fast and perfectly hot. The pizzas were amazing, the sides were great and the drink options were good. Perfect for a post wine tasting day evening in!

14 hour brisket, melt in your mouth delicious!

WOW! Il Fuoco! Was driving by this afternoon and they had a sign at the sidewalk that said barbecue today and the smell blowing out of the back parking lot was too much to resist! Went in for a sandwich, asked what they recommended since I had never been there. He said definitely the 14 hour brisket. Brisket for me is hit or miss with me, so I often don't order it. But I took his advice. Let me just tell you, that is some of the most tender, flavorful and delicious brisket I've had in years. Beautiful smoke ring, melt in your mouth fat and not dried out! I am looking forward to going back and trying a pizza as they have an amazing woodfired pizza! Give it a try!

Arancini Nero (special)

What a wonderful night to enjoy wood fire pizza. Ordering is simple, just decide what food and beverage you want, take a number and they make your food fresh. It wasn't chilly out once the sun began to set so we sat outside to catch the last bit of sunshine. The Arancini was a special, filled with black ink risotto and seafood. The sauce that was paired with it didn't seem to compliment the dish but the risotto was creamy and the outside was crispy. The mushroom pizza was very tasty, with fresh greens on top to give a lovely aroma and freshness. Definitely worth the stop if you want to try something outside of the downtown square in Sonoma.

Fantastic!!!

It's still awesome. Not a bad dish on the menu, great ambiance, friendly service, what else could you ask for?

This restaurant serves incredible food! The chatarelle pizzas and apple pies were both divine. My sister was particularly fond of the barbecue ribs.

Smoked Brisket

Not sure if this is a "hidden" gem or an IYKYK type situation, but we were lucky enough to meet Rob and have him cater our 3rd Anniversary celebration! The brisket and chicken...TO DIE FOR! Everyone over-ate and raved at the quality of the brisket & chicken. We hold a number of parties every year and know from experience how important the food is to an event's success. The service - from ordering, to delivery, to execution - was flawless! Rob was communicative and professional every step of the way. Being able to rely on this aspect is amazing and we will definitely use Rob and his team again! Simply cannot recommend this catering highly enough.

Puttanesca pizza with too much cheese.
Martha D.

I used to love their pizza. Still makes the best crust in town! Delicious crust. But the toppings have changed. Too much cheese makes the pizza Americanized as compared to a more traditional Neapolitan style that is less heavy handed with the toppings. And since when do you put the cheese on top of the toppings? Yuck.

Thank God this place is closing. Mediocre food at best, overpriced, and a lunatic for an owner. Good riddance, and strike two in Sonoma.

We loved everything from the food, chic ambiance to the charm of the place that makes it seem like a special place. The restaurant hearing upon my little one celebrated her fourth birthday last week, whipped up a hand written birthday card welcoming her to the restaurant (pic for reference). The staff was so friendly and patient with my chatty elder one too. Overall, it was a great experience and opened up our Sonoma trip well. Gave us a great impression on the hotel too. Oh, the food. I almost forgot. We had a little bit of everything. But two things I wanted to point out - contrary to what is out there, they DO have a kids' menu and do give you one as a part of their coloring book. Second, the steak was great. Being an aspiring vegetarian, I don't say this too often, but the steak was darn good. Our server made him feel like an adult and waited on him as well. He was very proud of himself - thank you for that touch!

The short rib tasted like airplane food. Had high expectations as we do like his other restaurants. Will not be returning.

They def knew their menu. Immediately brought water with cucumber and lemon, very refreshing. I ordered the bread with butter to start, it was excellent. That butter just melts on every bite, taking the bread to the next level. Staff recommended the Rachel pastrami. It did not disappoint. It was very simple. However the combination of the thousand Island, sauerkraut, the pastrami and buttered bread just made it so delicious. It was decently meat packed too. The sandwich came with fries which I inhaled the ketchup that they brought me extra. It also came with two types of coleslaw both were delish. They were not overwhelming with dressing. The yellow one was interesting bc I thought it was turmeric but it was slightly sweet. Delish as well. Also ordered their Italian prosecco. I'm into red wine but for some reason perhaps the environment I felt the prosecco would work and it did! It was bubbly refreshing, tasty, and not dry. Their restroom was big and clean. This is in the Jack London Village. They have parking on both ends. The village has other restaurants and wine tasting as well.

By the time we arrived, most of the local businesses had already closed for the evening, but thankfully Mary's Pizza Shack was still open and welcoming. The moment we walked in, the place had that classic, cozy, small‑town feel -- the kind of spot where families gather after a game, locals know each other by name, and visitors like us instantly feel comfortable. It's charming without trying too hard, and it has that nostalgic, homey vibe that makes you want to sit down, relax, and stay awhile. Customer service was genuinely friendly, which we appreciated after a long day of exploring. Even though it was later in the evening, the staff didn't rush us or make us feel like we were an inconvenience. Instead, they were warm, attentive, and happy to have us there. If you're in Sonoma and looking for a laid‑back place to grab a bite -- whether you're with family, a partner, or just want a chill night out -- Mary's Pizza Shack is a solid choice. It ended up being the perfect unexpected stop on our little adventure.

We were advised to get the chicken parm which came with a crispy piece of chicken, a small Caesar salad and a side of fettuccine Alfredo. Kind of a strange combination for Italian food, but filling and definitely shareable. Good vibes and inexpensive, smells like California pizza when you walk in - definitely giving Italian American pizza nostalgia. We also got the soup salad combo with the bean sausage soup, which was mediocre (it came out piping hot and quickly cooled down so it was probably microwaved.) After 8pm they have a happy hour from 8-close, with $2 off wine and cocktails. If you're looking for cheap drinks and eats, this is a good spot. We got the breadsticks half off (likely made with pizza dough) and $4 seemed about right for the price. We didn't end up ordering pizza. For two people we cleaned out at $60 + tip, overall not a bad deal. Prosecco was only $9 a glass and Gloria Ferrer brut was $12.

When you enter you'll notice a more homey decor to the place. Warm colors all around and even warmer service once you sit down. Every single experience Ive had here is been nothing less of 110%. Theres always this good balance professionalism with lightheartedness that pair so well for the atmosphere. Because at its core this restaurant is high scale. It definitely has that higher scale vibe but if never comes off as pretentious though. This particular I took my wifey here for our 10th year anniversary together. And we were greeting by a nice little card from the "Fig Family." We ended up trying the Seared Halloumi and I was shocked at how much I liked it. Very light flavors but still enough variety with the crispy spigarello and pine nuts to keep things fun. The lemon never feels too overwhelming. For mains my wife got the Mushroom RisottoI think? Or maybe it was Butternut Squash Risotto? I got the Fig Burger and both were amazing. The only reason I didn't get her Risotto was simply because I already had it at lunch time, but that still didn't stop me from taking a bite. Each rice like grain had a perfect chew and flavor to each bite. Even being the picky person that I am with veggies, I appreciated the veggies addition to the dish. I still think though that the sure winner was my Fig Burger. This burger is everything we wish our local breweries burger was. A harmonic balance between salty and sweet. Im down to get a little crazy with burgers but if it's too sweet, it kinda loses the appeal for me. It takes away too much from the burgers roots. So yea. Go here. Make reservations too. I know for myself I made mine about a month in advance so it's hard to say how hard it is to get a table here. But hopefully it's not too bad. Parking by the way is just street parking. Despite that Ive always been able to get a park on W Spain St right before I pull up to the restaurant. OH! And thanks again Girl and the Fig family! You made the end to our anniversary quite magical!
