Wow! A 4-min walk from the Fairmont. A fantastic pizza place. Got the puttanesca pizza, wood oven roasted artichoke, and the chocolate chip walnut cookie. The pizza dough was soft without being too doughy. The capers and olives kept the flavors bright. The anchovies and cheese were so savory. The artichoke was so tender and rich. I've really wanted to like this place over the years and left multiple reviews. Here's what it boils down to. They make a good, overpriced small/medium size pizza. Only one size and it isn't very big. I've watched their prices steadily go through the roof, up like 40% over a couple of years, making their pizza ridiculously unaffordable. $36 before tax for a WTF pizza is truly WTF! In the picture is shows it was $25 just a couple of years ago. Where does it stop? One guy can easily eat it. I have experienced them not answering their phone or closing early before stated business hours, ignored at their counter. WOW! Il Fuoco! Was driving by this afternoon and they had a sign at the sidewalk that said barbecue today and the smell blowing out of the back parking lot was too much to resist! Went in for a sandwich, asked what they recommended since I had never been there. He said definitely the 14 hour brisket. Brisket for me is hit or miss with me, so I often don't order it. But I took his advice. Let me just tell you, that is some of the most tender, flavorful and delicious brisket I've had in years. Beautiful smoke ring, melt in your mouth fat and not dried out! What a wonderful night to enjoy wood fire pizza. Ordering is simple, just decide what food and beverage you want, take a number and they make your food fresh. It wasn't chilly out once the sun began to set so we sat outside to catch the last bit of sunshine. The Arancini was a special, filled with black ink risotto and seafood. The sauce that was paired with it didn't seem to compliment the dish but the risotto was creamy and the outside was crispy. The mushroom pizza was very tasty, with fresh greens on top to give a lovely aroma and freshness. Mixed experience when I came here with my husband. I was glad he could order a gluten free pizza, and he liked his, but mine didn't turn out great. First, I had really wanted to try one of the specials that was listed on their website, including nectarines on the pizza, but when we arrived, it wasn't on the menu. I asked about it and the employee let me know they weren't offering it anymore. Disappointed, I asked about the lemon dessert that was on their website. They weren't offering that either. Why is their website out of date like that? Super disappointing. But I decided to go with the Prosciutto pizza, no onion. On the website (which no longer lists the nectarine pizza but does still list the lemon ricotta cheesecake), the pizza was listed with tomato, onion and fennel, fontina prosciutto. So when I tried it, I was surprised to discover it was spicy. I'm not tolerant of spicy food, but muddled through it best as I could, wondering what I did wrong. After our meal I went up to the desk and asked what, on my pizza, had been spicy. The employee said, "Oh, that's the chili oil." I was surprised, and pointed out that nowhere on the menu was chili oil listed on that pizza. The reply was, "We always make the Prosciutto pizza with chili oil." Which just baffles me... how would I know which pizzas are safe for me to eat if the main ingredients aren't all listed on the menu? anyway, if it hadn't had the oil on it, it would have been good. I took home the leftovers and used paper towels to soak up as much oil as I could and it was almost edible. I also ordered the mousse dessert and besides taking too long to come to our table, it was delicious. Strangely served in a mason jar with a spoon that just barely reached the bottom, it was rich and well made. That said, I doubt I'll return if I can't trust the menu to help me avoid spicy oils. :( read more

Brief, focused menu. This is a pizza place with a few other offerings. The Margherita pizza tonight was tasty. The dough is thin. Crispy on the edges, chewy in the middle. Tastes like there is some corn flour mixed in with the wheat. The tomato sauce was mild and fresh. The whole leaves of basil were big and fragrant. Very enjoyable. Truth be told a hungry adult man can eat a whole pizza and not feel stuffed afterwards. Cesar salad was basic and equaled the pizza in high quality and satisfaction. Crispy heart of Romaine lettuce, lightly dressed. Generous pile of freshly grated Parmesan cheese on top. Two small slices of the crunchiest crostini toasts on earth are included. Size just big enough for 2 adults to share. Small list of wines and beers. My lovely spouse, a self admitting wine snob, enjoyed a Zinfandel that she never knew. I had a draft pint of a locally made Kolsch beer that was also quite refreshing. Oh, I must mention that the food was delivered to our table within 4 minutes after we placed the order and paid for it. I was gob smacked by the practically instantaneous presentation. Had the home made apple pie for dessert. Was delicious. There are 5 large tables outside. Propane tower space heaters at every table. Dog friendly. Only 4 stars from me because 3 days ago I ate pizza in Windsor at Pizza Leah. That pizza blew me away with it's near perfection of creativity and deliciousness. Wow...just finished eating dinner...the food quality is top notch...sat outside and enjoyed the weather and chill music they were playing...we had two pizzas, Farmers market special (nectarine & Gorgonzola), and a gluten free Bill (tasty). We have always loved this place back when it was Smokehouse. Although we were sad to see Smokehouse go, we were pleasantly surprised by how good the pizzas are. We haven't gone through the whole menu yet, unfortunately, since we have our favorites. We love the pesto chicken pizza, the prosciutto & roasted pear, and shrimp with pineapple. The crust itself is delicious and has just the right thickness (or thinness). The calamari and brussel sprouts are our favorite appetizers. We recently tried the roasted carrots but I think it has too much cinnamon that you don't taste the carrots at all. The chocolate moose has always been our favorite but the seasonal pies are excellent as well. I think we've had the peach with blueberries last summer. Lastly, we enjoy the ambiance very much. We walk from our house with our shy Husky who is always welcome to sit inside. Our usual spot is the bar-height counter facing the street. Sooooo good, spicy with a bit of sweet. All the salads are great but I particularly like the ceasar salad because they put a little horseradish in the dressing. We've ordered them twice and both times, we were very disappointed. How do I put this? They don't taste like meat?
