We had a reservation for 6:00 PM, and three of the five people in our group ordered sea bass. We were told that the restaurant had run out. The waitress then strongly recommended another type of fish. When we asked what kind of fish it was, she couldn't tell us the name but assured us that it was even better than sea bass and would cost less. Unfortunately, the fish we were served was very disappointing. Its texture was completely different from sea bass, and we did not enjoy it. Even more frustrating, we were charged significantly more than we had been led to expect, rather than less as promised. When we were leaving, we informed the host that we had not enjoyed our dinner. Instead of addressing our concerns about the food and the unexpected price, he asked us about the lemon shots. We had not been offered any. In our experience, these complimentary lemon shots are a customary gesture at restaurants in the area, making the question even more surprising. While the view and ambiance are lovely, they cannot make up for disappointing food, a lack of transparency about what is being served, and unexpected charges. I went to a 1 star Michelin restaurant while in Sorrento and spent literally 1000 Euro for the two of us. I'm not saying that experience wasn't amazing, because it was, I would do it again. But I would abso-freaking-lutely come back to eat at this restaurant at about 100 Euro for 4 people, including cocktails and wine. the king prawn on the Scialatiello allo scoglio was so tender and delicious, I have nasty daydreams about it.
