First time ordering Mary Brown's, It's a good alternative to the other top fried chicken brands, way less breading which is better in my opinion, but I find it a bit too greasy, Prices are good, when you upgrade to white meat, you'll actually get a pretty good deal, rather than other brands where they'd charge you by the piece for upgrades, you pay for the meal upgrade here, and certainly have more options for upgrades. The fires is mediocre, the onion rings are below average and the thai chicken bites are stale and bland. An average fast food quality, nothing to brag about read more

Food: 4/5 Amazing delicious chicken and taters!! And their honey dill sauce is sooo good (I asked for more). But, I'm not a fan of the coleslaw or mac and cheese, not enough flavour for me. Customer service: 5/5 oh their staffs are nice and friendly, very professional. Parking: 4/5 about 10-12 parking space, which is not enough during the busy hours. But you can always park on the other side of the road and walk up to their place. Free parking. Atmosphere and other: 5/5 looking back at old pics and now. They did a really good at changing up the place. Love the design, it's clean, and the bathroom is really clean too. There are lots of seating area inside. I'll be coming back for sure. read more

I figure I give this place a shot, I have been meaning to and I had option to witb skip the dishes My order contain, spicy mary, Buffalo mary and their verison of popcorn chicken (can't remember the name) Right off the bat, I think it's a little more pricy then kfc or popeye but maybe the taste make up for it. With both buffalo mary and spicy mary only the sauce was different. The chicken itself was juicy and tender but it was drag down by being under whemling in taste. The sauce kind of help with the buffalo one but spicy onez there was no heat or taste to sauce. It wasn't terrible, chicken itself was okay but whole thing was a bit of let down. The popcorn chicken wasn't good thou, a bit too salty but atleast the dipping sauce that same with wss good. Overall it was okay but price was bit high and taste was a bit of let down but it's not worse I had so its passable where I probably would give it another shot read more

I've been a customer of MB for over 25 years and the chicken has always been great. I've never had an issue with individual chicken size. But recently, I've noticed that they are now cutting the chicken pieces off and making it way smaller. I ordered a breast and it was cut in half. The whole bottom of it was missing. The same Thing happened with the wing. A huge chunk of the white meat was missing. This is happening everytime I order, And it's getting worse. The pieces Are getting smaller and smaller and the prices are getting higher and higher. It's no longer worth it to buy MB. I can no longer call the big Mary a big Mary. I call it a little Mary. I no longer buy the sandwich because it's so small. The Big Crunch is way bigger and the same price. I used to not mind paying a bit extra for quality but, MB no longer offers quality for the extra cost. Now we're just getting ripped off. NOT WORTH IT ANYMORE.... read more

Pretty much as good as you can get in Toronto without being Chick-Fil-A. There's no question, the star if the show is the Big Mary chicken sandwich. Breaded and fried piece of delicious, juicy chicken breast, lathered in mayonnaise and lettuce. The sandwich is kept simple because there's nothing to hide, the chicken is excellent. Their sides are also fantastic. Their coleslaw is one of the best around, and the taters have a similar coating to the chicken, making them taste that much better. Decided to come by and get some Mary Brown's chicken since I haven't been here in ages. Big mistake, the chicken I order supposively fresh but it actually was just sitting there for a good day or the oil needs to be changed. They are promoting a holiday season special and I went for that, it was pretty much a 2 piece with an added apple pie (did not try). Had just the piece of drum and was disappointed that it looked like an aged chicken being so dry and dissatisfying, did not finish the chicken and ended up dumping the second piece, the Taters have a certain spice that I can't seem to grasp my mind around. Tasted like cumin of some sort and the small gravy portion I got had a modified spice as well. This will probably be my last time ordering any chicken piece from Mary Browns unless it's the Big Mary sandwich on a Monday. There are other competitors that are around that taste better. read more

At the time it all tasted great however this didn't last long within 2 hours of eating I became very ill. And spend the next 8 hours close to bathroom. Not sure I will ever try it again. I walked into a Smoothy/Espresso Bar, apparently this Mary Brown's shares real estate with Juicy King. I was welcomed by a friendly cashier and ordered 2 Piece Combo($7.89 per 2 Piece Chicken, Choice of Salad, Choice of Tater or Fries, CAN of Pop). It doesn't have as much playful/colorful theme decor as Popeyes but still has enough to know that this is a Fried Chicken place. The Chicken came out fresh and I notice quite a big piece of Rib portion but then quickly realized that it's not only the Rib but the Breast as well. That is almost a NEW concept for Fast Food Fried Chicken because KFC does a 9 Piece method(2 Leg, 2 Thigh, 2 Rib, 2, Wing, 1 Breast) but if I saw what I saw then MB's does the 8 Piece method(2 Leg, 2 Thigh, 2 Rib/Breast, 2 Wings). This means a higher percentage of getting a delicious portion of Chicken Breast. The Chicken itself was OK but not spectacular or memorable as it seems that the herbs & spice mix doesn't seem INTENSE enough. The crispiness isn't as great as the other places either. It's not addictive enough and it doesn't come SPICY, so for now I will stick to PE's outside of the Downtown core. The Taters lacked seasoning as well, and I realized another lady went up to ask for SALT because the meal came with 2 packs of Ketchup but no Salt/Pepper/Wetnap package that KFC provides. You can notice as well they don't provide FOUNTAIN Drinks but rather can Pop. I noticed a sign behind the front door that showed TODAY'S SPECIAL, 2 Piece, Taters, Pop for $5.99 but I'm not sure if it's just Today Tuesday. I noticed underneath the Coleslaw there was 2 DOTS. FYI, for KFC they are suppose to put a Date Stamp on the bottom of the package however just for your knowledge, Date Stamps CAN be replaced by another newer one. Let me say that I enjoyed their chicken and poutine. The place is more of a sit in and have your food, I ordered Spicy burger with Taters Poutine. The chicken had a nice taste to it and was not watery like KFC but neither was it crunchy like Popeyes. The Burger was quite good and the seller here were the Taters... They were little spicy and cheese and sauce made it amazing. The service was quick. Overall decent meal! For my Muslim bro and sis - They serve Halal meat. read more

The taters are pretty salty; the coleslaw is salty as well. Overall, I found the food to be 'meh' - nothing to write home about. Aesthetically, this place looks very tired and needs a make-over. Georgetown location. First time I tried ordering from them I called ahead as I knew they were busy. They told me I to stand in line to order. No thanks. I went in today and decided to wait in line. 20mins later I get in only to be told that if I wanted chicken with bone in it like a feast meal it would be 45 min wait. They could have let the people waiting in line know this as not to waste our time. I watched a few people leave without food. Over and hour total wait time to get fast food is kinda sad. I could have a sit down meal at a restaurant in that time frame. Drove to Milton and was back in 40min with food from the Mary Browns there. Don't bother going to Georgetown location until they get some management that can run a business. read more

Yuck. This was my first time at any Mary Brown's chicken so I don't know how it compares to other locations. But wow was this food gross. They have one sandwhich consisting of plain white bread, chicken and topped and swimming in gravy. Yuck. But my friend wanted it so he ordered it and wow was it bad. The gravy was so bland. I had chicken fingers. I was surprised at how bad they are. How can you mess up chicken fingers? They weren't crispy at all. The breading was really weird - hard to describe. I really want to give this place 1 star, but I feel like this is more a matter of taste than my other reviews. Maybe someone out there does like Mary Brown's Chicken... We stopped in here on the way home from downtown Toronto. We were told it would be a 15-20 minute wait for food which my wife said was OK with her. It took 45 minutes for the food and what we had paid over $60.00 for ended up feeding the organic bin as it was only fit for vermin and cockroaches to eat. It was a gloppy mess of grease and chicken pieces crammed into a snack box meant for 3-4 pieces had possibly twice as many from the package we bought. Complained to their Head Office and we were told only the location we had gone to was able to remedy the meal. When we have had any problems at any chain most Head Offices have been quick to fix the issue and say go to any of our locations. Not this firm, they expect you to go get another piece of garbage from the same site that ruined your first meal. If we could score them any lower we would. Disgusting food to be served and totally blown off by Head Office when we gave them all the details. The fact that they didn't give a damn says a lot about how this chain is being run. They don't deserve to be in business. If you want chicken go to Popeyes or KFC instead of a place that delights in serving globs of grease intermingled with chicken that you can't even tell what the pieces are or how many since they are globbed together in one very unappetizing mess. Due to their total lack of customer service which was non existent would never suggest this chain to anyone unless they wanted a heart attack or other ailment. The young people were more interested in talking to each other than properly preparing the food and from the lack of concern from Head Office this must be rampant through other locations. This is a disgrace since they say they are Canadian and should be ashamed of putting out such a garbage product. read more

Mary Brown's on Dufferin has THE worst service of any fast food chain I have ever been to. We were rushed to make up our minds so that they could start cooking the chicken that, unbeknownst to me, would take 30 MINUTES to make in a restaurant with absolutely no one else in sight. We were not properly informed about the items on the menu, which by the way, were extremely expensive and... no medium sized poutine?? The cashier was extremely rude and snobby. I have had the Big Mary before and enjoyed it. This time I asked for extra pickles get all the way home no pickles and I did not enjoy it because I found it very bland. My wife called to complain and an answering machine came on, she left a message and our number and no one even called back. NEVER AGAIN.Very poor customer service. OMG I phoned the owner and he just doesn't get it. He kept going on about 1 pickle when extra should mean more than one but we got none. He was sooooo rude and pissed me right off. I read some google reviews and he does this all the time. Ignores customer calls about complaints. Go to a different location. Having grown up in Newfoundland, I have had this product numerous times. Nothing beats the taters. However, I picked some up this past weekend in Mississauga and I was more than let down. The chicken was so dried out and bland. It's never been like that before. The 9piece combo was ridiculously over priced. I wish I wasn't so tired that day or I would have brought it back and asked for a refund. But isn't that what fast food is about? The convenience of not cooking after a long day and being able to treat yourself and others? Well, this wasn't a treat by any means. The low quality, high price and spending the rest of the evening drinking glass after glass of water makes me think that it's time to find a new chicken place. Sorry, Mary. Being from the east I thought I would treat myself to a taste of home. I should have saved the money. The guy talked me into the Big Mary Sandwich as it was on sale. I do love a sandwich. Unfortunately an entire half of the chicken was gristle/connective tissue/inedible. I got taters on the side and asked for dressing and gravy (it's a Newfie thing) as it's on the in-store menu. Chicken is fresh oil tasting. The wedges had an odour and tasted off. Obviously another restaurant who doesn't clean their fryers thorough and regularly. Too bad. Definitely the best fried chicken chain around. The food is consistently great. Whatever you pick, either the chicken sandwich or the fried chicken, you won't go wrong. A big plus are the taters which are much better than fries at any other place. I'm not a potato person but I really love the taters. Give them a try, you'll see what I'm talking about. read more
