Whatever you do don't eat at this place. My wife had chili for lunch and ended up in the ER about an hour later. A couple people that day had the same thing and had the same reaction. Owner found out and was concerned enough to ask the people that got sick to come in and meet with him. Tried several times to call and set up a time to meet and they have dodged all calls and won't return messages. You wanna get sick this is the place to eat. Another Yelp fantastic find!!! We stopped over night traveling in Reading. Woke up and searched yelp for a local breakfasr spot and found Marvel. A true old fashion greasey spoon with a very friendly staff. I got excellent hash & eggs and my wife got the Marvel mess (something like an everything omlet). Both were about the best we ever had. The place could use a good cleaning and new carpet!!!!! The grill can be seen through a window on the side street. It was Greasey, filthy and in dire need of a scrubbing. On the restroom door was a sign saying " No getting high in restroom please". Would I return? In a heartbeat, the food was sooo far over the top and the staff was so great made this one of my best finds on yelp. The world needs more family run places like this. If you are in the Reading area and are adventurous, this place is a must do. read more

Great portion size! I got the Mini Mess. It fills the platter with ham (I substituted Sausage), eggs, homefries, peppers, onions, and toast. I added a short stack of blueberry pancakes. Pancakes were pre-mix but cooked well. The mini mess fills a small platter. Next time I'll remember to ask them to brown the homefries and cook the onions and peppers more. That's personal preference though. Friendly staff and very busy! Lots of takeout orders filled and decent service time. read more

Just looking for a good place to eat breakfast in the Reading area, and found Marvel. It seems to have a lot of history while also serving up a good affordable breakfast. It's nothing fancy, but it serves everything I'm looking for in the morning... coffee and gravy. I got a minimess with sausage gravy and coffee for $6. Can't beat it. Staff is very friendly and service is quick. Would recommend and will eat there again. read more

Little hidden (literally hidden) gem on Penn street! No signs or anything but it's a cheap breakfast/brunch spot and every time I've gone it's been great! Maybe not the cleanest (the floors) place but that's overlooked by me. I enjoy this place and every time I've gone the waitresses are usually friendly. read more

Went there yesterday, asked for a side of bacon, never came. Asked for rye toast didn't get that either. I had a spinach omelet, was underdone, my daughter had the bacon omelet, so runny it was inedible. My husband had the mess and the sausage was just awful. I had such a lousy experience today at this restaurant that I downloaded an app just to make sure people know how rude the staff is . I went in and ordered my food and coffee and finished eating so I was told I could get a free refill on my coffee.. well one lady that wasn't even my waitress came over and tried to argue with me that I already had a refill.. well I didn't and then she started yelling at me and told me I should sit at another table because I am being rude by taking up a big table ( they are rude for not greeting you and helping you to your table ) and I had all this time to get my coffee why didn't I do it earlier but the reason I didn't was because the waitress didn't come back to check on me so I had to flag someone down to get it because I wanted to get that and leave. I never been to a restaurant where the people are so rude. I don't like downloading a bunch of apps and putting my email on stuff but this experience was so bad that I just had to post something about it because it would have eaten away at me all day. read more

You won't think its so great when you read this..... I am a local and tons of people where I work order Saturday morning breakfast from here or they used to. Let me start by saying yes their food is pretty good. I loved the breakfast bagel sandwich. However one time we ordered there was a band aid in somebody's food container. Another time it was a tooth. . And the last straw was a cockroach in an omelet. That was it for me . Its obvious there's a health food safety issue here. If you've ever been in the place( and I have) just looking around doesn't reassure you. Given a makeover and a passing health inspection would be just what it needs BUT they already have a booming takeout/ delivery business and why spend the $$ if they don't have to. The Marvel Ranch looks like a crappy place but like the saying goes dont judge a book by itś cover is sooo true their mini messes are to die for in fact all their food is yummy . The waitresses are sooo funny and warm and are very respected the place gets full if you are not early and trust me it is worth it. The atmosphere is def friendly. I think if they cleaned up their carpet a little and put up a sign with their name the place would be impossible to walk in anymore lol Marvel Ranch should start taking reservation! lol a little update on their look will do a lot for them! read more
