The gravy was good but the cheese was more like a ricotta or cottage than curds. Definitely missing that signature squeak. The fries themselves were very good. The chicken sandwich was good. Freshly made, crunchy and well executed. Personally, I could've used a little more spice. The shining star here was the burger though. Juicy patties, nice squishy seeded bun, lettuce, tomato, pickles. And the jalapeños added a tiny bit of heat and nice freshness to the burger. This is a place we will be sure to revisit. Unfortunately, I'll have to dock a star for their fries. We got 3 orders of fries - original, old bay, and disco (poutine). The fries were on the burnt side, giving them all a slight bitter flavor. The poutine was unfortunately rather underwhelming as well - in fact, when combined with the bitter fries, it tasted extremely bland in comparison. They used to make the most tender, crispy, and juicy sandwiches in town but it looks like they've retired from their original recipe. Just ordered this bullsh*t burger from martys before it closed for the day and I ate undercooked meat. Literally my food was done in 3 mins. Idk who cooked this burger but who ever did it needs to be fired. Every single time I order food from martys in fort lee, there's always a problem with my order. Instead of crew being in a rush to leave early they should of cooked my food properly and payed close attention. I payed almost 13 dollars for an undercooked burger that I might have food poisoning in the morning. I don't recommend this spot to no one unless you willing to rush to the hospital. There customer service skill is ok but the food quality is terrifying. Not only that the burger might potentially have bacteria but I might have food poisoning and bad stomach problems. My one friend had been talking up this spot called Marty's for quite sometime and she sent me a picture of the fried chicken sandwich which really sealed the deal on where I was getting dinner that night. What I ordered: (2) Crispy Fried Chicken Sandwiched ( one no pickle) (1) Truffle Parmesan Fry (1) Cheese Fries ( cheese on the side) (2) Vanilla Milkshakes Let's start off by stating that this was a delivered order off of uber eats. My food arrived hot and fresh which always makes me happy. The smell of the truffle fries was the first thing that hit me while opening the bag. If you know me you know I'm a big truffle girl the more the merrier. The fries were perfectly crisp and seasoned just rite. The cheese fries were also fried to perfection but the cheese sauce didn't heat up too well in the microwave when I went to pour it over my fries. Maybe stick with eating those there or picking it up yourself to not allow the cheese to set up. The chicken sandwich looked glorious. The chicken was thickly coated with this delicious crunchy batter that I sweat I resembled the heart eye emoji. The bun was buttery and delicious with a slight toast to it, the house sauce was very tasty and added a great flavor to the sandwich. My only complaint is that I felt the piece of chicken was a bit small and I wasn't aware that it was only dark meat. Not to say it wasn't good but I think it would of been even better with the white meat or at least a larger piece of chicken. The milkshake was just ok. I felt that it was a bit watery but then again with it being delivered I will give it a pass and have to try it again when I go to Marty's myself instead of ordering. Marty's has hands down the BEST burgers AND fried chicken sandwich in Bergen County. Unfortunately, I had very upsetting experience tonight. Their 3 young employees in the front were goofing around, on their cell phones, and chatting nonstop. That's fine and all, but they were UNABLE to get my order together. I waited some 30 minutes thinking that maybe they're in a Sunday dinner rush. People were waiting to pick up their food. But I had ordered mine there in person. After waiting 30 minutes, I asked the girl about my order. She forgot my name (which is fine), had already wrongfully taken my order receipt off the line, and found it in the punched receipt stack. I never got my food. HOW HARD IS YOUR JOB? This is not a judgment on the high quality of food they make at Marty's. This is just a bad remark on the irresponsible young staff they hire. The manager saw what happened, finally gave us our food with a complimentary banana pudding, and apologized. I refrained from causing a scene, but it would've been nice if these 3 employees took ownership of failing to do a simple job. None of them apologized. None of them spoke a word to me. Prices are good, and the quality is fresh. I went with the salt and vinegar fries and that sour salty crunch is addicting. I love that the burger contains sauce, relish, on top of the already fresh lettuce, onion, and tomato. I have only gotten Marty's burgers to go, so I will preface that I don't have the full, in-person, straight-off-the-grill burger experience. First off: their chicken burger is definitely better than their regular burger. However, while the inside of the chicken is very soft, and the outside very crispy, there's a disconnect in that the fried batter is full of flavor, but the actual chicken has none. It forces you to eat the casing of the chicken, which is quite oily, and in turn leaves a bad after-meal food coma experience. On the other hand, their actual burger reminds me of something in between shake shack and five guys. It doesn't quite hit the spot like five guys, yet doesn't taste clean enough to be a shake shack burger. I wanted soooo much to love Marty's burgers, which is why I still believe that ten minute walk from the store to home attributes to why my experience has been so...average. Their truffle fries are flavored beautifully! Although again, in that ten minutes, they do lose all of their crisp. I will say that I LOVEEEE the design of Marty's burgers: their menu, their interior, everything! such retro vibes!! Whoever their graphic designer is, I hope they know that I REALLY LOVE YOUR DESIGNS. Overall, it's the only burger joint in the area and if you're craving a burger that's a bit elevated from McDonald's, this place will do the job.
