So I ordered the Presidential Cheesesteak -- beef AND chicken, crumbled bacon, American and mozzarella cheese, and hot honey sauce. $16, and it comes with house-made chips. And I'm going to say it... This was evil-genius good. The roll was VERY soft. Maybe even a little doughy. But you know what? It worked. The meats and cheeses were easy to eat, and the soft roll held everything together without fighting the filling. And then there were those house-made chips. They were the perfect yin to the roll's yang -- crunchy, salty and exactly what this sandwich needed. The hot honey was the wild card, but it brought a sweet heat that worked surprisingly well with the beef, chicken, bacon and cheese. Bonus points: Phoenix keeps the bottled beers packed in ice, and the crowd was comfortable and welcoming. Sometimes you just have to trust the locals. The Phoenixians knew what they were doing.
