It it super painful to post this review because my husband &I have gone to this dry cleaner for many years. We live nowhere near this location & we still have gone out of our way for over a decade & given them our business. We gave them our business during the pandemic-- because we believed in helping out local businesses & truly, we thought they appreciated it. I don't know what has changed & I have sat on this draft for over a month waiting for this dry cleaner to return a call over a ruined scarf-one that they know that they damaged; one that they either have chosen to ignore, or just have forgotten about. I will start by also stating we like the people who have always ran this location &I don't understand what has shifted so drastically in the way they do business & treat customers. BUT there has been a shift in many ways. I'll start with what has caused me to post a negative review . In November, I sent in our clothes via my husband for our weekly dry cleaning & one for alteration. My clothing was picked up about a week later & when my husband got home it home , I checked it , something I had started doing due to some other errors mainly with alterations that I had let go. The designer scarf ( Coach) had a safety pin in it & it had caused pin holes along with several snags. I noticed it immediately.This scarf was bought about 3 months prior &I like to take it on my business trips - it's a casual, small easy 'bandeau' scarf. I took some photos & called Martinizing as soon as I saw it. I was asked to text her the photos of the scarf. I sent the photos to a different number & she acknowledged the damage. She insisted over and over she could make my silk scarf right again. My husband took my scarf in a week later since we had been customers for so long we decided to give them a chance. The 'correction' took another several days & when my husband brought this scarf home some of the pin holes were gone now but the scarf was still damaged & again, not in the original condition in which it had been dropped to Martinizing in November. I called Martinizing -- my call was declined. I called again. It didn't go through. I called a third time and this time I left a voicemail advising them of what I expected now that I had given them the opportunity to 'fix' my damaged scarf over three weeks ago. I gave them til after the holidays considering they may be busy too call me back; no call back. I emailed the Martinizing corporate office-- again no response. I have now reached out to try and recoup the damage to a relatively new scarf that was a staple piece in my business attire via the Better Business Bureau and within two hours I received a response stating that I 'had sent the original damaged photos rather than the ones they 'fixed'. I was only allowed on the BBB site to upload so many MB of photos; I figured it was important to show the original damage caused to my scarf. I actually uploaded 3 of the before and 2 of the after. All show the damage. In their response on BBB they state that 'the manufacturers care tag was missing'; so they acknowledge damage but do nothing? No one discounts that but if you as a dry cleaner can't properly dry clean a silk scarf without putting a safety pin in it & possibly ruining the silk without a tag attached, then it was up to you as the business to reach out to the owner, (my husband or myself), as you had in the past when you had a question about clothing dropped off (and that had been done via text or call!), and ask!.. this time, that was not done. I also found that ironic that a knee jerk response was given to the BBB considering that Martinizing had a voicemail from me on 15DEC. that they did not return to either me or my husband. I asked for our dry cleaning bill to voided or the cost this scarf-- both about the same in cost. Not unreasonable.Please tell me how it is you can drop off something in perfect condition to be cleaned- it comes back damaged- you reach out to discuss options with the business who caused the damage & they ghost you & gaslight you in messages as though it's your fault? How does that happen? I have now reached out to the Attorney General's office. I am so disappointed in how they have handled ruining an item. I am not the first nor will I be the last customer who has an issue. I think in the cost of doing business it's in how you handle it. The cost of losing a long time loyal customer to me, is more costly than admitting the mistake & making it right. An apology goes a long way when it was the business who ruined an item of a loyal customer. I guess I learned a lesson in loyalty.. I hope the $125 Coach scarf is worth how bad it looks that you were too pride driven to say you were truly sorry - call and apologize and use the words, "how can we earn your trust back?" This place performed magic on my expensive bike jersey. A large sticker was on the back side of it and after accidentally washing and drying it, I thought I would never get the baked-on glue off, thought it was stained forever. Our first experience using this dry cleaner was disappointing. 1. They never delivered on the scheduled day. 2. They charged us $21 a suit jacket to clean! 3. When we called to discuss both issues the owner blamed us as the customer stating both things were discussed, but then after listening back to their cameras acknowledged that yes it was suppose to be delivered and yes no pricing was discussed - but still took no accountability. She then proceeded to tell me I should have known their pricing. Maybe so, but wow you can go elsewhere and pay 1/3 of that to have a suit jacket cleaned. read more

I visited this place because of the good reviews. They up charge for everything. It was $49 for a dress (short), romper, sweater and pants. They add on charges for everything including the color red. I had a sweater that the lady said was past the waistline so they consider it a tunic instead... I will not be returning here. I lived in a very wealthy area in North Carolina and the nicest dry cleaner was at most $7.99 for a long dress. They are quick but overcharge way too much for simple dry cleaning services. This family owned Martinizing location has been doing our drycleaning and alterations for years. Very friendly folks truly willing to go out of their way for their customers. They do a great job with my suits, dress shirts, linen shirts, my wife's dresses and other clothing, have done many alterations and repairs for us, replace buttons when they notice they're gone, have picked up from us during the pandemic and dropped off, have cleaned duvet covers, pillows, really you name it. When I walk in they literally know my name and have my account pulled up immediately even though my visits have been much less frequent in 2020. I can't say enough good things about them. I was shown the price sheet and was okay with the base costs that were pointed out. But when I was dropping my items off, at NO TIME did the clerk point out that the base prices were only a "starting point" and there would be at least a THIRTY PERCENT UPCHARGE for each item I had dropped off! She could have easily given me an accurate estimate but instead, waved over the price sheet without calling attention to the caveats at the bottom of the page. "These are our prices, you okay with that?" she asked. I never expected the abhorrent price I had to pay when I returned so they wouldn't hold my clothes hostage! They charge 20% more if a suit jacket is lined, and 30% more if it is made from wool. No mention of that at drop-off. Jackets and coats are typically lined, and often made from wool, so the base prices listed are totally misleading. For two suit jackets, three pairs of pants and one winter coat (none of which had any significant stains to be treated) - a total of six regular items - THEY CHARGED ME MORE THAN $118!!! The proprietor's attitude is dismissive and offensive, and she doesn't deserve your business with her nasty attitude. There are other cleaners out there who do just as good a job without extorting exorbitant rates from the customers who came in trusting them to charge fairly. read more

I took a bridesmaids dress to be altered nearly 3 weeks ago and the woman who was going to alter the dress promised it would be done today on the 13th. I went in for my fitting and she wasn't there and I was informed she was having family issues and to come back later this afternoon. They later called me and told me they couldn't get in touch with her and to give them until the end of the day tomorrow, but the wedding is in a few days and I needed the dress TODAY. The shop promised me they would make the seamstress do the alterations and it would be done before Friday, but they couldn't even get in touch with her. I took the dress back and discovered that NO alterations had been done to my gown and the original pins were still in it. How do you hold a dress for nearly 3 weeks and not call someone and tell them you cannot honor what you promised? I had to get a rush alteration on my gown that cost me more than double than what they quoted me because of their lack of communication and customer service. The owner kept making excuses telling me the seamstress wasn't their employee but a 3rd party that worked in her store. I do not care, she works in the store and represents it and it makes you look bad. Do not use the seamstress at this location!! read more

We have been using Martinizing for about a year , it is more on the expensive side for sure but was happy until today and will not be back . We took 4 suits in and when my husband went to wear a light gray suit jacket (for the first time since we picked up) it still had armpit stains , for the price we pay I decided to take it back (I have never returned an item until this time ) . They took it back for redo no problem , however when I came to pick it up , it looked great and would've been happy however the lady insinuated my husband had wore it and that's the only reason it would have had those stains . She made me feel like we were lying and trying to pull some type of scam , we ABSOLUTELY had NOT wore it ! I promised her we did not and she just kept saying and insinuating that's the only way and even said we had not returned it quick enough (who looks at every item right away and husband doesn't wear suit every day only once a week ) instead of maybe accepting some blame that they had made a mistake and was happy to fix it (which I would have been fine with and appreciated , we are all humans ) she basically called me a liar . But if I did - these guys would have my business! Ok, maybe it wasn't magic to get the stains out of my sport coat, but the way I was engagingly welcomed in and serviced was, for sure! I didn't get her name, but the lady that was working at the front/register was just so genuinely friendly and courteous, I felt like I was already a regular. I don't think that's something I ever experienced from any of my old regular places when I actually wore suits to work and visited weekly. I've been bringing my dry cleaning here for about a year and have nothing negative to say! The staff is very friendly and their work is always timely and high quality! I also had an incident where I had to bring my linen draperies in due to a pet urine stain and they were super helpful, upfront and honest in the treatment they could do for it and the risk I faced with the fabric shrinking.. I trusted them and told them to go for it after hearing all the options and processes and risk and they ended up doing a great job!! Very minimal shrinkage, maybe a quarter inch. I have a one-of-a-kind sports jersey that was signed by the athlete and was unfortunately signed poorly with Sharpie not once, but twice in two different colors. I was desperately trying to salvage the jersey, but was starting to lose hope. I researched the internet for methods to remove the Sharpie and was not confident in what I found. I called countless dry cleaners and got everything from "sorry, you will never get that out" to "um, maybe? But we might ruin it." I'm realistic and I knew that it wasn't a guarantee the Sharpie would come out, but I was not getting good vibes with the dry cleaners that were telling me they "might" be able to do the job and all I wanted was a dry cleaner with some confidence. I got just that with Martinizing Dry Cleaning. I called on the phone, explained my situation, and was told "we should be able to get that out, it just may take some time to work on it depending on the jersey material. If you'd like to bring it in, we can take a look and tell you for sure if we can do the job." CONFIDENT answer and I appreciated the fact that they wanted to look at it to confirm if they could work on it vs. just guessing over the phone like all of the others that I called. I came in, met the owners and they were both very nice and genuinely cared about my predicament. They told me "we will start working on this and we will start in a small area of the Sharpie. If it's looking like it's not going to work or it's going to ruin the jersey, we will stop and let you know. This is going to be a challenge, but we love a challenge!" To make a long story short, I got a text message a few days after dropping it off that my jersey was ready for pickup. I was blown away - the Sharpie was 100% gone! On top of that, the price for the painstaking job also blew me away, BEYOND affordable! I was expecting to pay double, maybe triple what I paid. Martinizing Dry Cleaning isn't super close to me (about 20 mins away) and I don't get dry cleaning done regularly, but I am going to make the trek to their business whenever I need dry cleaning done and I'm going to recommend them to everyone I know. I was trying to support a local business since I just moved to the area but this business may not last very long if they don't reassess their prices. I mean, is not Beverly Hills or Paradise Valley. I took a dress to dry clean, I'm glad I asked how much it would cost and she told me $19 for a casual (not evening dress). I paid a lot less for my dress at a discount store so I grabbed my dress and said "no thanks " I'll go back the my normal dry cleaners on 36 St and Indian School. $2.75 a piece. read more

Charged $24 for standard dry cleaning of a single suit. No pickup, no delivery, no special instructions. That's exactly double the cost I would consider reasonable for this service. This dry cleaner company is located near my work, so I tried it out. When I left the suit, I tried to pay, as I am accustomed to paying for dry cleaning in advance. I was told that the company accepts payment only when the items are retrieved. When I returned for my suit a couple of days later, I found out why. The bill was $21.53!!! Outrageous pricing, even after accounting for inflation. I'll never go here again--especially when I can get the suit cleaned at reputable cleaners throughout the city for under $10. Caveat emptor. I fully expect the owner to comment on my post as he apparently does on every post ad a means of damage control. I really don't care what type of solvents or chemicals you use or how great you think your service is--you are overcharging for the service. Perhaps if you put less effort into responding to posts and used that time to do something to lower your overhead, you could offer competitive pricing. Contrary to marketing theory, service does not always justify the price--especially for commodity services that are ubiquitous. read more

I've had my shirts washed and pressed for over 20 years including in New York City. I have NEVER paid as much as this location. They charged $6.25 per shirt to wash and press when locations literally within almost eyeshot of them are charging $2 per shirt. My mistake was not asking what the price was ahead of time as there is no upfront pricing anywhere. When you're charging TRIPLE of your local competitors charge you had better be offering some different or special. They are not! Never again. read more

I found Martinizing Cleaners from their stellar reviews on Google and boy, they did not disappoint. Immediately upon entering, I was greeted so warmly! I had a shirt that needed to be dry cleaned for an emergency and we were flying out the next day. The gentlemen explained to me the different laundering processes and even made a note to fold and pin it so it would be easily stored in our luggage. WOW! It was such an easy and pleasant experience. The place was also clean, organized and extremely efficient. They took down my contact info and let me know that when my dry cleaning was ready, I would receive a text to pick up! When I picked up, the shirt was in its own plastic covering and handed over in a paper bag. I mean, any expectations I had for a wonderful experience were FAR EXCEEDED!
