Adding sleeves, shortening, taking some parts of the dress in and letting it out they really made me feel like it was custom fit to my body. While we initially only had one appointment scheduled, we decided to do a second, which was entirely worth it. Georgetown was honest about the cost with alterations/modifications based on the many layers of my dress as well as it needing a bustle with all of the layers, which was nice to know going into the appointment. I took my massive jeans to Kim's alterations as a last ditch "maybe they can fix these" before I gave up and donated them. When I tell you these jeans fit like a glove. Kim's alterations perfectly fit them for me. I can't even tell the jeans were altered. They fit me better than they did when I first purchased them. I also took a swimsuit to get altered and it also fits beautifully now. I'm a very happy camper at the moment. I will be coming here for every alteration / clothing repair for as long as I live in the area. Can't recommend them enough.

When I complained she first stated that my request was impossible (but never called to discuss this,) then changed her story to say that this over -the-head sweater mode (which now made the sweater completely unusable with a dress,) was what I had initially requested. At home I did the work myself, so obviously her "expertise" was a sham. Now calling the Better Business Bureau to obtain my money back.

Your wedding dress is incredibly important and sentimental, and I would want another bride to have this information before deciding where to trust with hers. I would strongly recommend that brides consider going somewhere else for their wedding dress alterations. I brought my dress in on June 12th. The alterations I needed were fairly simple: taking in the sides slightly and adding a basic bustle. My dress didn't have any tulle or lace. I had plenty of time before my wedding, so I was not expecting a last-minute turnaround. At my final fitting on July 31st, I was surprised to find that no work had been done on my dress. At that final fitting, I was told my dress was the next one in line to be worked on. I followed up again on August 21st to ask when it would be ready and was told September 3rd. I had planned my travel around picking up my dress and was going to be out of town for several weeks on and off leading up to my wedding. When I arrived on September 3rd to pick it up, I was told that the dress had not even been started. I ultimately picked it up on September 8th, and unfortunately, I was heartbroken by the result. The sides that had been taken in were poorly finished. The fabric was clearly visible, and the alterations looked very sloppy. When I brought up my concerns about how the sides had been done, I was told that it was "just how it is." I was disappointed by this response, especially given the amount I had paid for the alterations. Additionally, a large pearl was added to the back of my dress for the bustle without anyone asking or discussing this with me beforehand. When I originally asked about adding a bustle, I was told it could be attached to one of the existing buttons on the dress. A large pearl was never mentioned as an option. My dress had a sleek back with buttons all the way down, and the added pearl significantly changed the look in a way I would not have chosen. I was especially disappointed that this alteration was made without my approval. Overall, I spent $400 and nearly three months of waiting, only to be extremely disappointed with both the process and the final result. The lack of communication, delays, and quality of the alterations caused a great deal of unnecessary stress during an already important and busy time. Based on my experience, I would choose a different alterations shop.

Thankfully, Olio Alterations was able to fit me in for Tuesday instead of finishing it by Thursday, which is the standard time frame. My pickup time was after 4pm, but I came a little early at 3:15, and my dress was already finished! They did a great job matching the thread color on the stitches, so well that no one would be able to tell that it was broken in the first place. If anyone asks about my dress tomorrow, I will tell them the story of Olio Alterations saving the day!

I really wanted to have a great experience here, but unfortunately, my wedding dress alterations…read morewere filled with miscommunication, mistakes, and ultimately disappointment. At my initial appointment, I discussed several fairly straightforward alterations: taking in the dress, adding sleeves, closing the slit a bit, and adding a bustle. I was quoted for those services. At no point was I asked to put on heels to determine the hem, so I was surprised when I received a call days later with a new quote including hemming--something we hadn't discussed and couldn't have accurately determined without heels. At my second appointment (wearing heels), we agreed the length was perfect and no hem was needed. We finalized the price without the hem. The seamstress was unable to pin through the material to properly assess how much the dress needed to be taken in, but I trusted her judgment and was told we'd evaluate it again at the next visit. When I came back, a different seamstress informed me that the dress had already been hemmed--despite the prior agreement--and I'd be charged for it. I was told the hemming had already been done before my second fitting. To resolve it, she asked if I'd pay to finish hemming the remaining layers and I reluctantly agreed. She also had to take the dress in more--again, something that should've been handled earlier. At my final appointment, we added the bustle. I asked if the dress would be steamed and was told that it wouldn't be, as we hadn't agreed on that earlier and that the dress had come in "dirty" (it hadn't--it was brand new from the boutique). I was offered a discounted price for steaming and accepted it. When I arrived to pick up my dress, they had trouble locating it--it took about 10 minutes. Once I got it home, it was clear the dress had not been steamed. The sleeves that were added were poorly sewn and I had to reinforce them myself. A clasp that was supposedly fixed fell off just days before the wedding. I had to take the dress elsewhere to fix the clasp and have it professionally steamed. I did reach out to the owner about these issues, and to her credit, she reimbursed me most of what I paid via check (since their payment system was down). But even after all of that, on my actual wedding day, the bustle broke less than two hours into the reception, and I had to change. The dress also never fit properly despite asking at every appointment to take it in more. It was visibly too big and I spent my wedding day pulling it up constantly. I would not recommend Donna's Alterations for wedding dress alterations. My dress didn't require anything overly complex, but the experience was inconsistent, the quality was disappointing, and the lack of attention to detail created unnecessary stress during what should have been a joyful time.
