Wait, new favorite Italian restaurant in Chicago???? This place has been on my list for a while as a classic red sauce joint with a ton of locals and I brought my family here for our first family fun day. It was the perfect choice in every way. First of all the interior feels like your sharing space with Frank Sinatra- It is so homie and classic Italian. The wait staff has worked there for 20 years and everyone is your best friend. Genuinely we started talking to one of the owners and then got a list of 15 restaurants from him to go visit in Rome, Free limoncello shots, and cannolis. It's one of those places where you feel at home right away. Now getting onto the food- free bread and they keep it coming with olive oil and Parm- love! House salad, minestrone and pastatino very good- would recommend the minestrone. I split the chicken Vesuvio and the carbonara with my mom. The carbonara was by far the best that I've ever had in my entire life. It was so creamy and the noodles were clearly homemade- It was immaculate. I will genuinely think about this pasta for a long time. For dessert, we split the Affrogato and lemon poundcake- Both excellent and such a highlight to the meal. I loved this place and I will definitely come back. It's right down the street from Damatos so you can go get your Italian bread and then come over here!

A cozy supper clubs meets Italian comfort food... and bam! Mart Anthony's enters the scene. Classic Italian dishes served just outside downtown. We ordered the chicken parmigiana entree and my mom ordered the meat sauce lasagna. Chicken parmigiana was so-so. The chicken was a smaller sized cutlet, definitely downsized from years past. And then they fill the remainder of the giant plate with bland penne noodles and mediocre red sauce. Not worth the $25 sticker price. The lasagna was beyond salty. Did the cap fall off the salt shaker? Just wow. Almost inedible. The ambiance and service is truly my favorite. The staff is so attentive and the space makes you feel like you're in a throwback. Is it worth it? Eh.

Went there for an early dinner with my family and got a drink at the bar while waiting to sit. Everything was so good! We didn't feel rushed, portions were average, and can't recommend it enough. And the vibes were on point. Outdoor patio looked cute too.

Excellent meal! Our family came after a night downtown and the place was all decorated for Christmas. The service was excellent and the food was even better. I started with an old fashion, which was made perfectly. Some bruchetta and oysters for appetizers and everyone's main meal was excellent. I had the lobster ravioli which was delicious. There were smiles all around the table!!

To-go takeout (Braciole x2) for NYE from Mart Anthony's.
    Nina H.

My husband and I usually stay in for New Year's Eve but we like to order takeout since we don't intend on spending the night cooking. We'd much rather enjoy the evening and leave the cooking to the professionals. This year we wanted Italian food and after checking out a few places, we decided on Mart Anthony's because I was looking for a specific dish. I wanted to try Braciole and most Yelp reviews pointed towards Mart Anthony's for the best braciole in town. I placed an order to go and with it we also picked up a side of meatballs. After nearly an hour ride home, I unpacked the goods and we chowed down for dinner. The food was super delicious! The meat was tender and the tomato sauce was light and flavorful for both the Braciole and Meatballs. The pasta was tender. Overall it was an outstanding meal which we enjoyed over red wine while watching the preshow to the NYE count down. Given the wonderful meal, I would love to return in the warmer months and try the food along with the service onsite. Parking is a little difficult in the area since it is within the loop. Persistence pays while on the hunt for parking but with food this good it is worth the drive.

Came here for dessert and drinks on a Saturday evening and had a lovely time. We sat at the bar. The bartender, a woman whose name I wish I remembered, was so pleasant and gave us great service. I had the olive oil cake, and we all enjoyed it very much. It went perfectly with a cup of decaf. Then I had a spicy mocktail margarita. I was not impressed with this unfortunately - it was too watery and didn't have much flavor. My sister said her limoncello cocktail was also watery. We wondered if the small ice cubes melted too quickly. I would recommend ordering wine or a straight up cocktail here, because the mixed drinks fell flat. My friend ordered whisky neat and was fine. The atmosphere was just nice and warm and I would return if I were in the area.

Stepped in the door to Mart Anthony's and was transported to Brooklyn or Hoboken or the north end of Boston. Either way, whatever the vibe, this place is an old school Italian spot that treats you like family. Excellent run establishment. Service is laid back but attentive and friendly. It's like your uncle is serving you dinner. Dishes are so flavorful (and affordable!) with the perfect serving size. The Theresa pizza is a must try if you're looking for the Italian and Chicago mashup. So good. Pastas were amazing, there's definitely something for everyone. Tiramisu was ok... 7/10 but I'm legit a tiramisu snob. Great wine list here as well. Thanks Mart Anthony's, we'll be back!

From the service to the atmosphere and most importantly the food, Mart Anthony's is a solid 5 stars from me! Started off dinner with some Super Tuscan wine and some bruschetta. Loved the wine as we ordered multiple glasses of it. For dinner my husband and I split a Theresa Pizza (think Italian beef sub but on pizza) and Pappardelle Bolognese. Both were delicious *chefs kiss*. We topped off the meal with a piece of tiramisu which did not disappoint. I would definitely order all of those again but will want to try different menu items too as so much looks good. This place does get busy so highly recommend a reservation on weekends! They have valet parking as well if you want to drive. Can't wait for my next visit!!

Excellent ambiance for an Italian restaurant. Love the dim lighting and holiday decorations in December. The cocktails are outstanding and they do not skimp out on the alcohol. The food was very good as well. Definitely worth a shot for your next night out Our server was juggling multiple tables and she seemed overwhelmed. But didn't take away from our experience

Fried Chicken: 8/10- above average fried chicken on mashed potatoes. Well spiced but nothing to write home about. Ribeye: 10/10- great steak and honestly not bad pricing. Great crust and flavor, would definitely recommend to split for 2 since it's big. Mac and Cheese: 4/10- pasta was not hot and was undercooked. I usually like al dente but this pasta was hard. It was barely cheesy and was like a alfredo sauce more than cheesy, and the crust on top was lukewarm and stagnant like it had been sitting there. Overall great experience but avoid the mac and cheese.

The sides are a la carte and our waitress let us know that we can order some of the sides as "smalls" since it was just the two of us (thank goodness, otherwise that would've been a lot of food). Although we were full from our meal I know we had to try one of their cakes since I heard the portions are huge and delicious. The chocolate mousse cake did not disappoint. The chocolate was not overly rich or sweet the cookie crumble bottom balanced the mousse out. Being from New Orleans, I personally like my Bloody Mary a little spicier and with a little more of that NOLA kick, but this was still a really good option and a fun Korean twist on a classic brunch drink. The food was excellent and gave us plenty of variety. The Korean tray was a great choice, along with the bibimbap and avocado toast. Everything came together really well, and there was enough variety that everyone could find something they enjoyed. Overall, it was a great brunch experience with good food, interesting drinks, and a nice atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for something a little different from the typical Chicago brunch. Since we did not have a reservation, we were seated on the outdoor patio. This did not bother me at all! I completely understood the situation. Unfortunately, the food did not meet my expectations. I had seen so many positive reviews beforehand, so I came in expecting a much more memorable dining experience. Instead, I found most of the dishes to be fairly underwhelming. The steak fries were enjoyable, there's no way you can mess up meat. Although, I felt that the dipping sauce was what really made the dish. The brussels sprouts lacked overall flavor, and the garlic chive pancakes were noticeably burnt. I have had this dish at other Korean restaurants and have never experienced them being this heavily burnt. I understand that Perilla is a Korean fusion restaurant and that the preparation may differ from what I am accustomed to, but at an upscale restaurant, I feel like the food itself needs to be much more consistent. This is one of those places where the dishes looked beautiful, but unfortunately, the presentation didn't translate into flavor for me. Just because something looks appealing doesn't necessarily mean it's going to taste good, and I think Perilla could really work on that aspect of the menu. Now, the customer service was AMAZING! Unfortunately, I didn't catch either of their names, but the host was welcoming and kind while our waiter was also sososo sweet and attentive throughout our visit. I would honestly give the staff 5/5 stars for their service. They were wonderful, but I don't think it would be fair to give the restaurant the same rating based solely on the service because I can't say the same about the food. I also want to say our server gave us complimentary dessert, how nice! The dessert was actually very yummy, but this is not a dessert spot though LOL. Overall, I really wanted to love Perilla because of all the amazing reviews I had seen, but the food just didn't live up to my expectations. The staff, however, deserves all the love because they were genuinely lovely.

It was essentially a large platter of shells and nowhere near enough food for six people. When we asked to speak with the manager, he came to the table while I was in the restroom. Without speaking to us or offering to replace the meal, he took it upon himself to remove the seafood baller from our bill. We weren't looking for free food we wanted the meal we had ordered so we could eat. After sitting there for hours, we still left hungry and somehow had a nearly $700 bill for a couple of sides, two steaks, and drinks. This was my second visit to The Dearborn, and the food and service were both on point. We ordered…read morethe salmon tataki, fish and chips, Wellington burger, and Midwest fried chicken. Everything was well prepared, but the fried chicken was the standout, especially with the hot sauce adding another level of flavor. The staff stayed attentive throughout dinner and even replaced our plates between rounds, which was a level of service I wasn't expecting. I also respected seeing the owner personally making the rounds, stopping at every table to check on the guests and the food. Calm atmosphere, solid hospitality, and a kitchen that delivers.

I am used to really good fish and chips... I've never had better fish and chips than Tom Douglas's Mr. Fish in Seattle, UNTIL NOW!!!! Wow, wow wow wow! Do not pass GO, do not read the menu, just order the darn fish and chips! It might be a whole heart attack on a plate... But it doesn't matter... You can walk all of Chicago and burn it off. I decided to work out before I came here for this big splurge and I'm so glad I did. I can see that this is the theater district... And you could come here before a show fish and chips and have the best night of your entire life! I can't wait to try more of this chef's food! I'm BEYOND INSPIRED! ps great beers here toooooi!

Our absolute favorite anniversary and special occasion spot!…read moreSophia Steak never misses. The food, service, and atmosphere are consistently top-notch. They even print personalized menus with your names for special occasions to take home as a keepsake, which is such a thoughtful touch. The crab cake is a must-order every single time. It is packed with real, sweet lump crab meat without all the heavy breading and flour filler you usually find elsewhere. The calamari appetizer was decent, though compared to the rest of the meal, it was slightly less memorable. For the entrees, the scallops were cooked to perfection with a rich, buttery, melt in your mouth texture. The roasted chicken was also incredible, super juicy and tender on the inside with perfectly crispy, seasoned skin. Since we were celebrating a birthday, they even surprised us with a complimentary dessert to finish the night. Everything was truly flawless from start to finish. Highly recommend for any date night or celebration!

I suggest requesting Nina she's great. The overall Ambiance and experience is lux, beautiful as many other reviews have stated. I live around the corner so it's hard to not stop in for a bite to eat at the bar when I don't feel like cooking.
