Up front: the food rated a 4, the sound level rated a 1 or 2. I was there for lunch, and yes, the restaurant was busy, but it was not full, and the sound level was so high, that we had to raise our voices to just talk to each other across the table. Not pleasant. At least I enjoyed my food. Got the vegetarian omelet (spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, red peppers, and onions) covered with cheddar. The house potatoes were cooked well - I like the yummy caramelized onion bits. The potatoes were a little salty, but like most veggie omelets - the omelet was not salty, so they balance together perfectly. My omelet came with a choice of bread, but I ended up enjoying (several) of my friend's cheese popovers that came with her meal. These were quite lovely - cheese, herby, and a little spicy heat. Great brunch place. Been here multiple times and their food does not disappoint. I always get The Works and have that as dessert for the whole table - it's huge. They have the best tuna melt. The bread is not too oily and the tuna is fresh. The jicama salad that comes with it balances the palate. It gets really busy on the weekend. No one spoke or even acknowledged me when I entered the restaurant. My friend had made a reservation for our lunch. When she arrived a hostess has come to answer the phone without glancing our way. My friend was finally acknowledged when she pointed to her name on the reservation list. Dishes going by looked good. I ordered the grilled chicken pesto sandwich from the lunch menu. Our server wasn't familiar with it, but the ingredients looked promising. It turned out to be chicken sausage, I double checked the description to be sure it wasn't an oversight on my part, but it clearly stated "grilled chicken" without the word sausage anywhere...I don't love sausage. The server kindly replaced it with a delicious chicken club sandwich. The truffle fries lack truffle flavor at all. I will give it another try. Shout out to "Celestina F" for exceptional service. I ordered veggie omelette with "bacon Add on" but unfortunately was missing. She did everything right to rectify the issue. Offered me a new omelette (became my lunch) and comp 100% on the dish. It would have been fine with a replacement but she went above and beyond the restaurant standard. I have been working in retail business over 25 years and I would hire Celestina in a heartbeat. Marston is consistently delivering high quality breakfasts, exceptional service with nice ambiance. Valencia has so few places worth dining for. It is still a culinary wasteland. However, Marston's is good for brunch and breakfast and you don't need to drive to Pasadena. My favorite is the chili omelette because the homemade chili is great and really makes the omelette delicious. The oatmeal is also a notch or two above the normal. It's so creamy and tastes almost British (reminds me of Pret a Manger, UK) very satisfying. It does get busy as it is a popular multigenerational meeting place for young families visiting grandparents. read more

This review is long overdue, this incident happened at the end of December 2024 . Food is great! Service is a disgrace. I took my friends out for brunch for their 38 year anniversary. First issue, I ordered the potatoes in particular way, they arrived incorrectly. The waitress, Marie chose to challenge me versus offering to switch them out. At the end of the meal, we ordered a dessert for the table in celebration of their anniversary, we ordered the strawberry cheesecake, the sauce that arrived was blue. It tasted like blueberry or something at the like. yet again the server chose to argue and insist that it was strawberry it simply looked blue, seriously?? Had it not been for the celebration of my dear friends I would've followed up with the manager, but as to not make a scene I sucked it up. This place has gone downhill. And I'm so sad about it because it was genuinely one of my fav scv restaurants. The last THREE experiences have been seriously disappointing. The time before this, I brought two new girlfriends here and bragged about how great it was. Unfortunately, at the end of our meal, we all agreed we were disappointed. Today I had a turkey sandwich, asked them to add onion in which case I was told it came with it. Well, it didn't come with it. The bread was old and breaking apart, literally in my hands. The clam chowder was luke warm! And the orzo salad was very dry and very bland. The worst part is the waitress never came back to check on me so I didn't even get a chance to ask for the onion on the side OR to warm my soup up. After waiting for several minutes, I finished my sandwich and left the soup and orzo salad. Extremely disappointed. It also cost me $23 for something I didn't enjoy. A half sandwich, cup of soup and cup of orzo salad. I'm not sure what changed but this is no longer a family favorite place to eat and sadly, I won't be coming back. read more

I love this place! It's a fun little breakfast spot which this city needed. It's like how many iHop's and Denny's can you fit into one city?? Too many... So Marston's how is the food? The selection is so great. They have your classic options. A great omelet menu, but then they also have dishes like pulled pork eggs benny, chorizo breakfast burrito, and the works french toast which is covered in frosted flakes, with berries, pecans and whipped cream on top. Yeah... that was the one, easy choice! Sooo so good. Perfect crunch and softness inside. $15 for it. This is my recommendation for ya. I also got a few drinks because why not, day drinking is fun. I think their drink specials change every so often, but when I was there I got a pomegranate margarita and a blood orange mimosa. There's something about blood orange that just makes a place feel classy. I just wish the mimosas were bottomless because it didn't last long hahaha. And Marston's also does lunch too! Where did they get their experience KFC??? I ordered the crab cake Bennie... the cakes were so over cooked i could not even taste the crab in it ... tasted and chewed like old fried chicken strips ..again the poached eggs we're almost raw. I'm being gracious about this review...Growing up in Glendora, eating at "Marston's and Houston's" in Pasadena has never been a disappointment. When I had moved out here, imagine how elated I was of finding out there is one "Marston's" here. What are the other options here really? Besides your greasy diner, or restaurants serving mediocre food at best and resulting in a bill you might have to consider selling your first born for. Now, I'm not a regular by all means, I eat here at least 2-3 times a month when I need time off from my breakfast making duties. But, the last two times have really been a total let down. Let's look at the pancakes for example... wished I had taken a picture of my other pumpkin pancakes last time, but I just got the picture of the two this time around. My first picture was the second plate of pancake that came out. I don't even know if I could call a pancake. More like pancake's cousin, the crepe. The chef literally sent out the same quality pancake sans blueberries. This would have seemed like an easy fix right? Checking if the batter was too wet, seeing if the baking powder is past its date, or the batter hasn't had enough time to set. But, hey what do I know. ‍ read more

When looking for breakfast or lunch, Marston's always comes to mind because of our memory of the Pasadena location, which is small and quaint while serving delicious breakfast items, especially their egg dishes. This location is also something to write home about, as the atmosphere is very family oriented, but also, friendly to it's customers. While much larger than the Pasadena location, I really enjoyed the booths and having nice conversations over lunch. No where else in the Valencia area can I say this about. This tour brought us to lunch, which ends about 2:30 before closing for the day. The sandwiches and breakfast items are numerous, with the club sandwich and turkey sandwiches my favorite. With the fries and a nice ranch dressing, this lunch is difficult to beat! read more

We must have asked for utensils and napkins 3 times, horrible. Some dishes looked great, then there was mine. I ordered the Californian omelette with no tomato. When my plate arrived, my omelette looked like it had been sitting out forever. The cheese looked fake and quite honestly, the whole dish lacked flavor. The potatoes were mushy and just nasty. When our waitress came by to offer refills, we asked for a side of fries.... guess what? The fries NEVER came! I really wanted to give this place a shot, never again! The combination of the steak stuffed with Shiitake Mushrooms & Cheese was such a great blend paired with Mashed Potatoes and spinach, the ultimate comfort dish. My husband also expressed how flavorful the chicken Parmesan was and appreciated the huge portion. The service was efficient and the customer service was good. The portion of the cornflake French toast was so small and it did not even come with any sides like fruit nor it offer to add any sides. The price was $9.75 for just 2 pieces of bread & syrup! My husband ordered 2 eggs and house potatoes and sausage which was green in color because of the cilantro but it looked disgusting! The servers were mediocre and did not provide good service. It seemed they just wanted to get everybody out since it was almost closing time. We usually come to breakfast at Marston's but tonight we wanted to try dinner and we were very happy with it. Evan our server was very attentive and friendly. We had the garlic grilled calamari and onion rings and they were both delicious. I also had their jalapeño and cucumber Martini and it was one of the best drinks I have had. Their shrimp linguine was so good. We ordered the warm blueberry crisp and crème brûlée and our favorite was the crème brûlées.
