I had been a fan of Spanky's in the past, so when I needed a place to take a group of kids and adults, I thought of Marshside. We had a super experience! We had called ahead to warn them we were bringing a large group, and they were ready for us when we arrived. Service was great, everybody enjoyed the food, and we will definitely come again! I ate at Spanky's for years and was pleased to see an adaption of the original back in Marshside. A five piece basket (of chicken fingers) and spuds (flat, round fries) is the way to go if you want a good, fast lunch! I typically get the salads for dinner, as they're more than enough for a full meal. They've catered several events for my business and the whole process could not have been easier. I don't know if they're always short staffed or it was a bad night because the service was extremely slow. We were told it would be a 30 minute wait. But we started seeing people coming in after us getting seated before us. When we inquired about it the hostess had crossed our names off of the list. They found seating for us within the next 10 minutes. Once we were seated we had to wait another 15 minutes to get a drink order. By then we knew what we wanted to order and ordered at the same time. About 30 minutes later we noticed a table that was seated after us was getting their food. We asked the waitress if she could please check on our food. We finally got it another 10 minutes later. If you want anything with flavor, don't go here! My husband and I visited Marshside Grill just tonight and decided it was worth writing a bad review. The service was alright, the waiter not very friendly, but kept our drinks filled and the food came relatively fast. We both had grilled seafood, and none of it had any taste at all. I ordered sweet potato fries as a side and they were so so, with no seasoning on them at all, just warmed and thrown on the plate. My husband had his seafood over pasta. He had the choice of either Alfredo or marinara. He chose the Alfredo and it came in a little bowl on the side of the pasta. He said ragu had more flavor than this stuff. There were only a handful of people there and now I know why. Can't testify to the food, but the service sucks. Not good at all. My family got an array of items and none of them were worth the 20+ dollars per plate. Shells were left on hibachi shrimp, fried shrimp weren't deveined, steak was EXTREMELY tough. Had the profound misfortune of dining here on 4/5/14. We arrived with 5 of us, 3 adults and 2 kids. The place was slammed (no explanation for bad taste) and we waited 30 minutes to be seated. We waited another 20 minutes and we still had not been seen by a server, no beverage order taken. I got up to seek out our server and found a young woman, who stated she was our server and she would be there as soon as she could. I requested to see the manager at this point. A young guy came to our table, apologized and took our orders. The food took another 45-50 minutes to come out. My "medium rare" steak sandwich was like rubber. A bowl of crab soup tasted like kerosene. I informed the manager that both items were unacceptable. He did not offer to change or replace them. He brought the ticket and both items were on it. I asked if he intended to charge us for the awful food. He stated yes. I advised him I had no intention of paying for them. He threatened to call the police and I encouraged him to do so as it would bring much greater awareness to how bad his restaurant is. After arguing with me for 10 more minutes he took the items off. This guy was absolutely incapable of running a business. Marshside Grill is the worst restaurant I have ever eaten at. Avoid it at all costs. read more

Not one vegetarian offering. We scanned the menu and only steamed veggies as a side would be an option. Even the salads were meat based.

First time eating here. Not impressed at all. The full moon platter was horrible. The scallops and hush puppies were under cooked. We mentioned it to our waitress Tori and she acted like she didn't care. The restaurant was not busy at all. There were about 6 servers were working and probably only 6 tables full not including the bar. Some of the servers were at a table eating and on their phones. We only saw our waitress maybe 3 times that was to take our order, refill our drinks once and bring our check. The platter was 24.95. Definitely not worth it. We had to bring the food home and finish cooking it. There was way too much seasoning on the shrimp for it to not even be cooked all the way. Will never eat here again. IN NEED OF A BATHROOM REMODEL!!! This is a nice restaurant for the food and the service. After my family's expensive meal, I went to the restroom before we left and was shocked by the terrible quality they have let it become. The toilet was so old and gross with stains, also o had to hold down the handle for it to flush. The floors were all different patches of flooring. The paint on the stall door, and the wall were in need of repainting, as they were big spots all over that were pealed off. It was a real disappointment and I felt like it was a bathroom I will never go into again due to the cleanliness and quality. The food and service made it great but I don't think we will return. We found this to be a "locals" preferred restaurant, and it was recommended by the local B&B when we said we wanted fresh seafood for dinner. The restaurant was quite busy on our arrival, and the hostess asked if we preferred a high-top or regular table ... when we told her we were uncertain because it was our first visit, and ask her to make the choice of seating, she immediately took us to a waterside table with a wonderful view of the river and marsh. Our server was also very friendly and knowledgeable (a 20-year employee); beverages and water orders were taken and quickly delivered; cocktails were generous and reasonably priced. The seafood here is fresh -- shrimp boat was docked alongside the restaurant -- so we order the Shrimp platter, and the fish-of-the-day: Mahi Mahi (I requested mine Blackened) ... everything was fresh, hot, perfectly prepared and delicious. The server also recommended we try their "Spuds" a house specialty fried potato side, it was very tasty and worth having. My wife also loved the Hush Puppies. 1:00 PM visit mid week. 2/3 occupied with empty tables though a wait at the door. I sat at the bar with 3 others; ordered the fish tacos and side salad. The server asked if I would like the salad first... "yes" was my response. Fifteen minutes later I recieved the fish tacos that tasted like they were trying to cover some "off" flavor with hot sauce. At first I thought it was the fish but then realized that it was the coleslaw that had the rank odor/ flavor. It must have sat uncovered in the walk-in cooler for several weeks. I recently had the grouper here and a large appetizer of scallops that was not on the menu. Both were bursting with freshness and could not have been prepared better. You can choose to have your seafood fried, lightly blackened or charcoal broiled in the house manner, which I preferred. The generous order of scallops were broiled just enough to remove any undesirable liquid and then topped a little brown butter and crushed black pepper that set them off perfectly. Wow! I added a great side of house spuds, that are fried slices of potatoes in a uniquely seasoned batter. I got expert, friendly help from my waitress in picking what to order. I came at an unusual. time so I received lightning fast service. My experience far exceeded my expectations even though this restaurant is right on the water.
