    Empenadas
    Josh W.

We decided to do something a little different for dinner one night here when we happened upon this spot. It definitely had us at empenadas AND pasta. We had a feeling it was gonna be great and we were right. Reservations are recommended because this place gets busy at night. We lucked up and got seats at the bar. Emily, the bartender, was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The ambiance was upscale but relaxed at the same time. -Baked beef empanada -Baked spinach empanada -Baked chicken empanada -Homemade lamb empanada -Fried shrimp empanada -Butternut squash soup -Creature Comforts Bono Pilsner -Piedra Negra Reserve Malbec -Khalua cake w/ vanilla ice cream -New Holland Dragon's Milk We thought we were gonna start with the empenadas and order a pasta dish afterwards. However, the empenadas were so good and filling that we only had room for dessert. Those empenadas were all awesome too. And trust me, the Khalua cake paired with a pint of Dragon's Milk is a perfect pairing. We'll absolutely be coming back here next visit.

First time here and honestly not bad! Smaller place but very homey like layout. I love the more open concept to see in to the kitchen and decor was fitting for this style. Serve was fantastic on top of everything and very informative of the daily specials and the menu in general. The food was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I went with the ribeye stake as I wanted something a little more fatty. It was paired with a salt infused with red wine that gave it a slight sweetness to it. We also shared a spinach empanadas. To be honest this was the best empanada I've had in a long time. Most of the time they are too hard or lack flavor. These were perfect flakey and full of flavor. Highly recommend! For a drink I got a manhattan. Made well with Makers Mark as they were out of Bullet. I don't know when or if I'll be back in the area for work or not but I do recommend this place.

Been wanting to try Del Sur and finally gave it a shot. My wife and I started with a beef empanada, bread service and the Provoleta. For entrées I ordered the New York strip rare with a side Caesar salad and my wife ordered the Rigatoni Bolognese. The Provoleta was fried provolone in a small skillet served with caramelized onions. It was very tasty and would definitely order again. The bread service was a dry style focaccia with a pesto sauce and freshly baked and of good quality. The beef empanada was also very tasty. The NY strip was a nice portion, at least 12 ounces and cooked rare as I requested. It had a good taste and came with a tasty chimichurri sauce. My wife loved the chimichurri sauce and mentioned that it inspired her to want to make some at home. The Bolognese was also a nice portion and came out very hot and fresh from the kitchen. It was a little on the black peppery side for me but I have yet to find an out of the park Bolognese yet on Saint Simons Island. Either way it was fine. I took some of it home and had it the next day and felt that it was a little too peppery at my second tasting. I'm eager to try the clams and linguine next time. Overall, I would rate Del Sur at 4.4 on Yelp, but ratings are limited to whole numbers. I chose to rate at 5.0 because the totality of the meal experience was above average for Saint Simons Island and the average should be at least 4.4. It is definitely better than many other restaurants on the island and I would recommend trying it.

Waiter was so accommodating. Restaurant stopped serving at 9pm, but some friends were nearby and wanted dinner. We were already starting on our entrees, but our waiter told us to tell them to come, pulled a table over so we could be a four top, and happily took their order. Salmon and rib eye were good. Coarse salad with prosciutto was the perfect starter - light and flavorful. Didn't like the risotto as much -- a little gummy, but the roasted vegetables were excellent. I could have ordered roasted vegetables and only ate that and been satisfied.

We wanted to take a break from eating seafood since we ate a substantial amount since we got there. I saw this on the way and thought we check it out. We all agreed that they had us on Argentinian empanadas. Since we didn't make reservations, (spontaneous visit) there would be a wait or we can sit at the bar. We opted for the bar. They had plenty of seating. Which was comfortable. The inside is small yet inviting Emily was our server/bartender. She was very attentive and great to talk to. If you come here, It's a must you try their homemade Empanadas. It was hard to choose that we ordered all on the menu. They also serve pasta, appetizers, entrees and steak. We ordered: Dinner: -Baked beef empanada -Baked spinach empanada -Baked chicken empanada -Homemade lamb empanada -Fried shrimp empanada (daily special) Drinks: -Creature Comforts Bono Pilsner -Piedra Negra Reserve Malbec -New Holland Dragon's Milk Dessert: -Khalua cake w/ vanilla ice cream We didn't have to wait long for our meals. They were out right away. All of us really enjoyed the Empanadas. My favorite was the chicken, lamb and beef. My fiancée REALLY loved the shrimp. My mom fell in love with her soup and Empanadas as well. I thought we would have room for some pasta, but what we had really filled us up. We had a little room for dessert. Oh my! That hit the spot! I highly recommend you check them out. This place is amazing and has great service!

What a perfect little place for dinner. We have been here with my family several times when we are in town visiting our son. The staff is always inviting and provides the perfect amount of attention. The menu does not have a huge selection of options but they have perfected everything they offer. Consistency and value are what set Del Sur apart from other restaurants. My personal favorite is the salmon with the skirt steak a close second. It has become one of our favorite restaurants.

Wow! Absolutely everything we ordered here was superb! This time around we were in Georgia to visit my brother and my sister in law. Boy oh boy! I recommend going to eat here! Better to make a reservation though. Highly recommend it. If not you get be there when it opens. Since we didn't make a reservation that's exactly what we did, we were there when they opened and got to sit outside. Fortunately the weather was gorgeous out! While waiting we enjoyed a beautiful sunny day with a cool gentle breeze. We ordered after a few minutes. Everything started coming out little by little and with every plate that came to the table each and our mouths started to water. As we all tried eachothers food (because it is a must lol) we eagerly waited for the rest of the food to arrive. Everything and when I say everything, I mean everything was delicious! The service was great as well! So we will return! We live in Orlando but it's worth the stop when in the area!

Was able to make reservations the same day on a Friday. My husband and I came for an impromptu date night. It was our first of many times going to this restaurant. Our waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu and was able to help us narrow down some selections to try. We also met one of the owners. He was very friendly and made sure we enjoyed the meal. Beef Empanada - 1000/10 I'm not big on bread but the breading on the empanada had a nice crisp to it. The beef was well seasoned and delicious. Skirt Steak - 1000/10 The steak is shipped in from Argentina and it was obvious why. It was a very tender cut and paired perfectly with the house made chimichurri. Mashed Potatoes - 1000/10 Very smooth and creamy just how I like it. Lamb Chops - 1000/10 Very tender and came with spinach/pickled red onions and fingerling potatoes. Everything amazing complemented so much flavor. This has easily become one of my favorite restaurants! We loved the authenticity and the diversity of the menu.

I decided to find a quaint place to have dinner and found Del Sur. The weather was pleasant and they had tables outside . I had the Fig Negroni to start . Appetizer, Black Truffle Burrata Salad , Divine ! Full of flavor . My entree was Shrimp Risotto. The sauce, mushrooms, and shrimp on a bed of risotto was delicious. I closed my eyes with every bite and savored the layers of flavor . I felt like I was in Italy .Thank you to my server Krisann for your hospitality and service . Your exceptional service does not go unnoticed. Thank you .

Butternut Squash Soup: 8.5/10 Lamb Shank: 9.5/10 This cute, small spot at the top of the pier area on St Simons Island is perfect for gathering with family, date night, or even a solo outing. The staff is kind and gives off a welcoming family vibe. I started with the Butternut Squash Soup which sounds so simple, but it was diner perfectly. The portion was amazing & the soup with thick and tasty!! I ordered the Lamb Shank as an entree, which was definitely a hefty meal. The thick risotto paired well with the tender & flavorful lamb. It's a large portion that's definitely shareable for 2 or enough for some leftovers! I took a few bites from the steaks my family ordered and those were delicioussss and that would definitely be my order next time! ‍‍ If you're in the Brunswick/SSI area and are looking for a nicer date night or a place to gather for dinner, I highly recommend Del Sur! *I knocked it down a star because the inside has an extremely strong smell of pork and it was very overwhelming for me*

We then split a Garden Salad which again was nice. Entree choice on the menu was limited but diverse enough. My wife ordered the Tramici Piccata with shrimp and I ordered the Spaghetti Bolognese. Both dishes were hot and fresh but to be honest the Piccata was really bland and basically Angel hair pasta with butter. I expected a tasty zesty sauce that would make it worth eating. Again the other ingredients were fine just underwhelming. The Bolognese was light on sauce and meat and not enough to flavor the pasta. I didn't get the rich flavor I expected. Again, both entrees were pretty much a disappointment. I wanted to like this place so much but not sure we'll give it another shot. it's possible but I'd definitely order differently if we return for sure.

What?! so the next day we went there with our receipt and they still didn't understand what we were trying to explain and couldn't find the order on their computer. They wouldn't give us the overcharged amount but instead gave us a card on which they wrote Free large pizza. The overcharge was for the amount of a specialty pizza., $27.--. Tonight we ordered online once more and ordered our 'free' pizza. we ordered a specialty pizza like before. When we picked it up and gave them our free pizza card they said it was only good for a cheese pizza and charged us extra for each of the toppings that were included in the specialty pizza which came to $12.95. So not only did we get overcharged the first time but we got cheated again the second time. Needless to say we won't be back. This is not customer service.

So, after moving to GA recently, we decided to go back for my birthday. We enjoyed the atmosphere of the old Italian look of this place. We could not have asked for a better table location as we were all the way in the back and tucked away in the corner, very private and romantic. The only issue is the circular coach seating was worn out, and I knew with bad back I might in for an uncomfortable night. The service itself was professional, but not very friendly. While most staff members seemed to smile and appeared to be enjoying themselves, our waiter acted like he did not want to be there. As for the food, it just did not measure up to the past, as there was 1 great dish, 1 OK dish, 1 not so good and 1 just bad. We started out strong with Denver Lamb Ribs with a sweet Ginger soy sauce glaze. Easily the best rib dish we ever had. We debated on our next dish between the Lobster Cocktail or Stone Crab Claw and unfortunately went for the Crab as it had years since we had some. We both agreed the Crab meat did not seem fresh as it was mushy and the sauce lacked the tang of a traditional Stone Crab sauce. We both ordered the Crispy Scored Flounder as that is the reason we came here in the 1st place. The dish is a Flounder, that is scored on both sides into easy chunks to eat, with and Apricot Shallot Sauce. Overall, it was an OK dish, but not as good as either of us remembered as it could have used more sauce on top of the fish. We finished up with a poorly executed Bourbon Pecan pie. This dish looked (see picture) and tasted not much different than a Little Debbie pie you buy in boxes of 10 at the grocery store. This small round piece of pie had zero Bourbon sauce or flavor whatsoever. The dish seemed so out of place both looking and tasting, that I went to see what others posted on yelp, and what we were served didn't even come close to previous dinners experiences. Not a great way to end my birthday dinner.
