    Gummy stuffing with no crab.
    Melissa G.

Been driving past here for a year and read all the reviews. All I can figure is someone is writing rave reviews for them. Started off by making reservations through the app. Get there and they state that they don't take reservations for two. I show them the confirmation and they say well it's not right. Made us feel extremely unwelcome from the jump. Seat us at a table for six. A table for four comes open and they have us move to that one. Wait 30 minutes for someone to come take our drink order. Wait another 20 minutes for someone to take our order. At the one hour and 15 minute mark, we get our salads. The tomato in the salad is rotten and molded. Bring it to the server's attention and the manager walks over and states that's how they come off the truck every Thursday. I'm sorry, the server makes the salad and can clearly see when produce is rotten. At the one hour 30 minute mark, we finally get our food. I order the stuffed crabs - biggest mistake ever. I received three frozen crabs that were 100% gummy stuffing mix with some onions and peppers - no crab at all. The baked potatoes were ice cold and the butter wouldn't even melt. The steak my husband ordered was a worn out shoe. The majority was fat and was left on the plate. I couldn't even eat my dinner it was so disgusting. The servers and owners never once checked on us, talked to us or made any attempt to make us feel welcome. The reviews claimed that the desserts were homemade yet the sign under them showed Cheesecake Factory. Please save yourself the time and trouble and avoid this place. We left hungry and unimpressed.

Fried seafood platter is awesome. The slaw is the best I have had and all the food is really good. All the desserts are homemade.

    Menu

We found this restaurant while visiting Waycross. The location and ambiance is wonderful and very low country. The interior is very dated, but also what gives this place it's charm. I ordered the seafood platter. It was very good and plenty of food but was a little heavy on the salt. My wife ordered the steak tips. They were a little over cooked and came with onions and peppers. My wife despises onions and was fortunately able to pick them off. It wasn't a big deal but the menu nor the server mentioned anything about onions. Definitely order tea if you're thirsty as soft drinks are offered in a can only. All in all I would eat here again but would try some other local eateries first.

When we arrived, we were asked if we were OK if the service was a bit slow that night. Since we drove a bit out of the way from Brunswick we were not leaving, but it gave us extra quality family time with the daughter who was visiting. After ordering the wife and daughter went outside to take in the view of the water and look around. Maybe we were just having a great time, or were prepared to wait forever, but once the food came out, we all agreed it wasn't as long as we thought it would be. I ordered the whole fired flounder platter with Oysters,h ush puppies and fried Okra. Everything was perfectly cooked. And as you can see from the pictures I provide the flounder itself was stunning. I also ordered onion rings which were fresh, large and incredible. The Daughter ordered the Founder dinner, and again, just a absolute beautiful cooked piece of fish. The wife order the Grouper Plate, which was probably the least favorite dish of the 3 as she got it blackened, and it was not as well prepared as the other dishes. Overall a very successful dinner night out

We especially loved the shareable feasts. Such a nice touch that they bring out a complimentary shrimp sampler with your drinks while you wait! The service was exceptional. Our servers were friendly, fast, and incredibly attentive. We never had to ask for anything, including drink refills--they were always one step ahead. The atmosphere was impressive. The restaurant was spotless, beautifully decorated, and the background music created a relaxed vibe. I also loved that kids can draw on the paper tablecloths, and there are TVs at the bar if you're catching a game. It's a fantastic place for lunch, but it would also make a great date night spot. We ordered the blue crabs, shrimp, crawfish, and snow crab, and every single item was cooked to perfection. The flavors were outstanding, and even the sweet tea was perfect--not overly sweet, just right. If you're anywhere near Brunswick, Mr. Shuck's is an absolute must-try. We'll definitely be back!

The restaurant might be a bit fancier than your typical seafood establishment in the area, but don't let that fool you, as the food is still good down home cooked. There is a mixture of booth and table with Chair seating Hailey provided us with excellent service for our meal. The wife, daughter and I all ordered the Scored fried Whole Flounder. They dish is offered either dipped in flour or dusted with cornmeal. Since we never had Flounder with cornmeal before we all went in that direction. Compared to scored whole flounder with flour, having it dusted in cornmeal was much lighter then flour without sacrificing the crispiness this dish demands. For sides, the wife ordered battered Potatoes and slaw, I had battered Potatoes and Corn on the Cob, while the daughter went with Fried Okra and slaw. All three of us left, fat, happy and satisfied.

Their attentiveness, warmth, and professionalism were exemplary, contributing significantly to a positive atmosphere and certainly meriting a five-star commendation. However, I must also highlight a considerable disappointment concerning the food. The oyster stew served was, without exaggeration, the most unsatisfactory I have ever encountered. Its consistency was exceedingly thin and watery, akin to diluted milk, and it was entirely devoid of any distinct flavor profile. Furthermore, the oysters themselves regrettably still retained an unappealing sliminess from their shells, indicating they had not been thoroughly cleaned. This dish fell far below expectations. Conversely, the salad bar offered a mostly positive experience. The array of options was generally appealing, and the majority of the ingredients appeared vibrant and fresh. My only reservation was the condition of the lettuce, a significant portion of which exhibited noticeable brown discoloration, suggesting it was no longer at its freshest. Despite this minor issue, the other components available on the salad bar were excellent.

Stellar cocktails, friendly service, great views, modern design aesthetic, and incredible food. My only gripe is that they do not take reservations, though even on a Friday night, I've been able to get seated within 20-30 minutes, and you can always grab a drink from the bar and hang out on the lawn while you wait. This most recent visit, I started with the seafood chowder, one of my favorite soups on the island. Creamy, hearty, with plenty of fish, shrimp, crab, and potatoes. Shared a crabcake with my girlfriend--another solid choice, with plenty of crab, not too heavy on the filling, and with a lovely remoulade. For mains, we both had the grilled redfish, a baked potato for me, and mixed veggies for her. Perfectly cooked pieces of fish with a nice crust on the outside while still being moist and tender. Dessert this time was the chocolate pie, which was quite nice, not being too heavy nor excessively sweet. Did I mention the cocktails? I'm a big fan of the smokey mango Fiddlerita (a mezcal take on the classic marg), and the saladito a close second (again, mezcal, but with a little honey and cayenne). The girlfriend enjoys the basil smash (hold the simple syrup, please). Previously, we've tried the artichoke dip, which is also fantastic, shrimp and grits (solid, but Reid's does it better), blackened tripletail over creamy leek sauce (a special, and special indeed), and the key lime pie (excellent). You really can't go wrong here.
