The restaurant is a mixed bag. The building is large and can get very loud, and there is taxidermy on the walls, so keep that in mind. It's very family friendly, but a little pricey for the quality. The calamari was dry and overcooked, and the sweet potato fries were just OK. The ribeye cheesesteak however, was surprisingly good. We asked for the calamari to come out with the sandwich, but it arrived much earlier. By the time the sandwich was served the calamari was long gone even though we had explained it intended to be the meal for hubby since he wasn't very hungry. Overall, there were some positives but the food was definitely inconsistent. While it is clearly a popular spot, our experience doesn't make us eager to return. If we're ever passing through again, we're not sure we would give it another try, though it's possible other menu items are much better. read more

Austin's Cattle is out in the middle of nowhere... the kind of place where it feels like if this restaurant closes, the whole town might just pack it in. Thankfully, it worked out really well for us as a pit stop on an I-75 road trip. I got the steak with sweet potato fries, and for $33 it was exactly what I expected... which in this case is a compliment. Here's the best analogy I can give: this steakhouse is the "small town 10" equivalent of a "big city 7." Respectable, enjoyable, absolutely gets the job done... but let's not pretend we're at some white tablecloth steak temple in Chicago or NYC where a waiter named Sebastian explains the emotional journey of your ribeye. For where it is, Austin's Cattle absolutely delivers. Good food, fair prices, and a much better option than whatever sad fast food exit you were considering 20 minutes earlier. Our first time trying Austin's Cattle. This place is big and has plenty of parking. Location by I75. Exit 16. Upon arrival we were welcomed by 3 very young hostesses (teenagers) it took a bit to get seated. They were trying to figure out the sitting chart. Our server Zachary was very knowledgeable and took care of us by getting our drinks right away and few minutes later took our order. The menu had quite a few items, but it wasn't overwhelming. Definitely a steakhouse theme here. (Be aware there is a lot of taxidermy in the restaurant) mix with western memorabilia. We ended up ordering appetizers, salad and soup. We ordered the seared Ahi Tuna-this was outstanding and seared perfectly! The french onion and potato soup was good. Wished that my potatoes soup was more hotter. The salad was fresh but we wished that they were bigger (We barely got any lettuce, It was kind threw together very fast and missing the lettuce) My grilled shrimp was borderline burnt and salty-The pink dipping sauce was delicious!!!! Give me more Georgia Peaches- made with rum, peach schnapps and peaches this was SO GOOD and blended to perfection. The complimentary bread was also so soft and pillowy with this delectable butter that was yum. Our server was also funny and great. Austin's has been a staple in Valdosta as long as I can remember back to the 80s or early 90s. I came here this week with my daughter and grandkids as I live in Athens and don't get a chance to get out much and most of the time I'm down in Valdosta we eat at home, but decided we wanted to go out and we chose Austin's because we wanted steak!! Arrived and got a table quite quickly , and landed in the middle I guess, this place is huge, and we got a six top table with three adults and three small children. Our server Marla ( I think I can't find my receipt.), got our drink orders and some fries for the kids to be entertained quite quickly while we looked at the menus to decide what to get for everybody. She was a great server and took great care of us so thank you for the great service upfront!!! I was actually shocked at the pricing of the steaks and prime rib as they were well below market value in Northern Georgia. So I opted for the 10 ounce fillet., a Caesar salad salad and some vegetables, while my son-in-law got the 12 ounce Delmonico with side order of grilled shrimp. My fillet was bacon wrapped, and when I made the first cut, I drooled.! it was perfect! Then I tasted it. It was more than perfect.!! Literally the best steak I've had in years and I am a Chef! The Delmonico steak and shrimp were juicy , had a totally different flavor from the fillet and was delicious!! My daughter also has a 12 ounce Ribeye( the Delmonico , which is named after the restaurant and the way it is cooked, but it's a ribeye). We had enough steak to split for the kids., but got them a couple of order of fries and we did start with the buffalo chips, which are a must have! These are homemade chips with blue cheese crumbles and buffalo sauce and are the bomb!! My kids and I have loved blue cheese potato chips since visiting our most favorite old Diner in Buckhead, Atlanta and make them at home all the time! The 10 ounce fillet was only $34 which I thought it was a great value in 2025 !! I don't want them to raise prices but the same steak up here near Athens, Georgia would be 55 maybe $60. Even the 16 ounce primary was under $40 and is the best prime rib you'll get in the southeast anywhere.!! Austin's is a staple, unfortunately for me it's off the beaten path when I get into town so I don't go out there much but I'll be back again within six months now that my memory is jogged on how good it is. Restaurant is expanding where they are and if you are looking for a steak , or burger and sandwiches and other things they offer, you will not be disappointed. This use to be our place to go, but the last two times we have been here, it has been a big disappointment. We will not be going back. Spent almost $100 for just the two of us and the only decent part of the meal was the desserts. Our waitress was fantastic but she couldn't make up for the lousy food. Thank you Devon. The picture is of all the gristle on the Delmonico steak. Maybe got 4 ounces of meat for $35! The rest was inedible. My chicken sandwich was way overcooked and dry. The tomato slice was very unripe. Found this place with a co-worker just looking for someplace to stop on the ride home after a job in Adel. Service was very good and the food was also good. Thought I would try it again since I travel to Ray City occasionally and would stop at Texas Roadhouse. Well I guess I will be going back to Texas Roadhouse. Ordered the full rack of ribs. Typically when you order a full rack that is what you get. Not here. A full rack to them I was told is 10-12 ribs, which 12 is typically a full rack. I got 7. When I told the manager I got 7 she said that is a full rack. ?? And that she packed my to go order her self. So manager offered a partial refund, we witted if it gets done. I really liked the atmosphere on the first visit but I will not be going back. You can try if you want but for the price I expected more! Full rack would not fit in the standard size to go box. Wow, their happy hour is off the charts. $2 for a delicious IPA is unheard of. Perfectly paired with a ribeye the first day, and a prime rib the second day of my business trip. I didn't have to look elsewhere, I knew I was coming back. Loved everything about this place. The new decor (I heard it was much smaller, and the pics showed that) is great, the food is spectacular, service excellent, prices reasonable. Our first visit and last. When we came in we were seated quickly, we arrived at 4:30. Our waiter came and took our drink order and appetizers. The drinks were delivered and that was the fastest of all deliveries. He brought out the appetizers, 2 of the 3 salads that came with the dinners, I had to remind him that I had one also and he had to go and put it in, he forgot. We did get bread to the table, the first loaves were cold, finally got second loaves and they were warm. The one lady with us ordered a burger with grilled onions and mushrooms on the side, the burger with onion rings was brought out and no onions and mushrooms. She was told it would be a few minutes, the rest of us finished our dinners and she still had not received the rest of her meal. We had to ask for a new hamburger for her so it would be warm. Finally brought out a whole new plate of food with the grilled onions and mushrooms. We had to ask for a box for her food as she by this point just wanted to go, all of us had been done eating for at least 20 minutes. The waiter was nice but very bad at coming back and checking on us as a table. Pictures and stuffed animals were great, the ambiance was nice, the best part of the whole visit. read more

Picked this place on a whim and glad we did. From out of town we didn't know much about the place but appeared nice from the outside. Once inside the restaurant was clean as soon as entered. The hostess took our information and quickly showed up to our table. Gavin was our server and he did not disappoint. He was attentive to our requests and checked on us numerous times during our meal. The five star reviews were right. This place has excellent steaks and service. It's also a very nice place inside. We stopped here for dinner after getting gas for our drive home to FL. Javian was our wait staff and he was exceptional. He took our drink orders, and when he returned with them, we ordered a T-bone for Husband and a Delmonico for me with baked potatoes and side salads. Javian brought a loaf of bread that looked and tasted yummy with or without butter. Then came the salads. The Ranch dressing was the best we've had. They make it themselves, and we purchased a pint for $9.99. The steaks came next, and after one bite, we both said, WOW! They were cooked they way we wanted, too. The potatoes were good as well. Service was great. Kid's meal and salads came out in good time. Our prime ribs took a very long time to come out, especially since everyone nearby who ordered after us got their meals first. We came by for a birthday dinner. We were a bit surprised to find it attached to a hotel. We walked in and were seated right away. It is decorated with train memorabilia and animal mounts. It was busy with a large party in our room and most of the tables filled in the other. I had A Strawberry Martini to start. It was good. We ordered the 16 oz Ribeye and ground steak dinners. Our salads came out first and we both enjoyed them with honey mustard and balsamic vinaigrette dressings. The Ribeye was excellent and cooked just the way he liked it, veggies were crunchy and also good. The ground steak and onions were good but a bit greasy. The baked potato was also good. Husband and I have been eating at Austins monthly for 24 years and is our go to restaurant; however, I realize they are getting ready to move to their new building and possibly other changes...but our visit on July 30, 2025 may be our last. We always sit in the bar area and normally have same pool of servers who do great job. This night we saw no one familiar and had never had this waitress before. She had a "full head of hair" lets say.... and observed her carrying each tray of food out of kitchen on her shoulder "with her hair laying in someone's salad!!! Needless to say...we couldn't stomach our plates after witnessing this and knowing may have hair in ours. She even had salad dressing in her hair when she stopped by our table and husband pointed it out, she didn't seem to care. Please do better Austins, i won't be recommending for now. read more

Stopped on our way back to Florida. Recommended by a local hotel. I ordered the chicken sandwich, which was delivered without a bun, tomato and the French fries were barely warm and definitely not crisp. I told the girl who delivered my meal and she said that she would get the waitress. I had to wait for quite a while for the waitress to return, so everything was cold. The waitress brought a bun with tomato on a plate, and by then everything was cold, so I asked for it to be remade. They just took it in the back and gave me new fries, but I was too frustrated to make a big deal about it. My husband's prime rib was cooked med-rare as ordered but he had to cut the crust off because it was too salty. Otherwise the meat and cocoanut shrimp tasted good. After a long day of driving, I doubt we will come here again on our next trip through Valdosta. read more
