Bubba's is a cute little place with friendly service and fresh seafood and burgers. It was too hot to sit outside today but their patio looks real nice. The seafood is freshly made. I started with a Georgia beer made in Valdosta. It was a refreshing amber ale. It was really delicious. Next I had the crab cakes as a starter. They were big and generous with a nice sauce. The crab tasted very good and perhaps there was too much bread but overall extremely good. My entree was the grouper sandwich. The filet was large, nicely blackened, very fresh and delicious. It was fabulous! A-plus on this sandwich. I would definitely return for lunch or dinner again. It's quite popular. By 5pm the dinner crowd was here. read more

Great location off of. 75 in Valdosta. The restaurant is styled like Cracker Barrel southern home style... it's very cute. The food tastes excellent... we ordered the crab cakes and hush puppies and cheddar grits... It all did taste very flavorful... but three hours later my husband and I both didn't feel great (stomach). This doesn't mean it was a them problem... it could be a food allergy idk... but we both got a little sick. Service was good. This was the biggest surprise! Just a little house with a big front porch and a bunch of rocking chairs on it. Inside you'll find the cutest little place with a lot of TVs to watch your sports programs. The staff is so friendly and the food comes out really quick. The low country boil melts in your mouth. I had Oysters Rockefeller which was perfect for my low carb diet. Bacon, cheese, butter and Spinach atop a delectable oyster. Delish! Dave had the seafood platter, fried oysters, blackened shrimp, corn on the cob and onion rings. All very good! So if you're heading north, Bubba Jax is located conveniently near I-75. We came in tonight and tried the crawfish special and Bubba's bacon cheeseburger. The $12.99 crawfish special had 2 options: 1. 1/2 pound of crawfish that is served with corn on a cob, sausage, boiled red potatoes, and melted butter. 2. 1 pound of crawfish that is served with melted butter I opted for the first choice which has both crawfish and a few other items on my plate, which turned out to be a very wise choice as the crawfish was a bit salty for my taste and they really don't have much much meat inside their big shells, so I actually enjoyed eating the red potatoes, the corn on the cob, and the sausage more. The bacon on the cheeseburger wasn't crispy enough so we actually pulled most of it out of the burger, and the hamburger bun would have tasted better if it were toasted. The best was the gumbo which came in the sizes: full meal size or half size in a bowl. I opted for the half size which came with 2 small pieces of garlic toast that was delicious. The gumbo is not on the menu as it is seasonal, so I am glad I had noticed "gumbo is back" on the board by the entrance and ordered it tonight. read more

Bottom line the food is very good. I would have given them 5 stars if they even tried a little bit to take some covid precautions. Since no staff wore masks and the tables were all close together (even in the tight outdoor space) we chose to get our food to go and bring back to our nearby hotel. We called in our outdoor and it was ready in 10 minutes... I got the catfish dinner with a side of onion rings and the Georgia smoked sausage. The catfish nuggets were good as were the hush puppies. I really liked the batter on the onion rings it had a nice spiciness. The grilled shrimp and grits was very good and a really big portion (leftovers for breakfast!). Stopped by here for dinner on a Friday nite on our way to Florida. We shared an order of fried green tomatoes that were terrific. Wife got a shrimp dish, and I had the catfish dinner. (Yes, it looked and tasted like catfish.) It was great, and I had a garden salad and hushpuppies as sides. Couldn't eat it all. Server (young with ponytail) said his name was Bubba--apparently coincidental, since he didn't look like he owned the place. Service was friendly and efficient. We found this little gem while traveling to Florida. There were 5 of us so we had several different items on the menu. The bang shrimp and fried green tomatoes as appetizer, were excellent! The crab leg dinner was a heaping pile of legs with delicious potatoes, corn on the cob and sausage, to complement the crab legs. The boiled shrimp platter, served with potatoes, corn and sausage was delicious as well. I had the shrimp platter with 1/2 blackened shrimp and 1/2 fried, cheese grits and onion rings on the side. The cheese grits were perfect. The blackened and fried shrimp, delicious and the best homemade onion rings that I've ever had. The service was friendly and attentive and the restrooms were clean. I insisted on getting check for my beer and over tipped on that because while it wasn't a great experience the waitress was professional and pleasant the whole time.
