Marshalls is great for houseware items. It's actually my go to. Just bought a Tommy Hilfiger shower curtain ($20), an anti microbial liner ($8), and some hooks ($8). One stop shop for my needs and with decent prices on relatively quality items. It's the second set of shower curtains we purchased here and it's by far the best quality which is why we returned for more. The cashier that we go to is very pleasant, and the location isn't crowded so long as you go early in the morning. read more

This spot is US answer to Winners store or is it the other way around! Located on the the 3rd floor of a new shopping plaza it is unassuming at first and one can easily walk into the big housewares store a floor below. The space is brand new and aisles are wide and clean, items are well organised with a decent variety to boot. Something that I have not experienced in their store in the south. The prices are OK for housewares though the range was limited in that department. Staff is OK though I didn't ask for assistance on this trip. I would actually check the prices here for some items first rather than the store one floor down. 3.5 Stars. read more

This Marshalls is way better than the John Street location! You have to go up a few escalators in this awkward condo/retail/fitness complex to get there but you could also take an elevator. It's a pretty large space but they actually have merchandise including clothes, shoes, accessories, home decor, etc. Did you know if you buy stuff at Winners or Marshalls, you can return at either location? That's pretty convenient. Don't forget to sign up for a TJMaxx card so you can have 30 days to decide if you want to keep your purchases! High end/designer goods have just been delivered. It might be worth checking out before the good stuff is gone. read more

I love this Marshalls location at Yonge and Gerrard because of the massive space it occupies. In addition, the store is located just a block south of the College Park Winners, makes for easy shopping since they both carry the same items. If one store doesn't have my size, I can usually find it at the other store. Like Winners, Marshalls has absolutely everything and all the departments signage is neatly and clearly displayed. Definitely lots of space and this location never gets crowded, so I'm usually shopping in peace compared to the chaos that often accompanies with shopping at Winners. Plus this location is super clean and probably the cleanest of all locations. The changing rooms are large in size and there is never any lineups. This is probably the only location I would try on clothing since the other locations has smaller dressing rooms and usually a lineup. Checking out is a breeze and I never have to wait longer than 5 minutes. The cashiers are always friendly, fast and efficient, plus they even engage in small talk at times. The shopping experience has always been pleasant for me at this location and I'll continue coming back on a regular basis. read more

Unprofessional and rude manager, flippant cashier and misleading signage. We were there to purchase towels. We found two that were marked as $4.99 down to $3.00. They were placed in a section that had a sign up to 30% off* our already low prices (* prices as marked). I interpret it as up to another 30% the marked price of $3.00. Because 1.99 of 4.99 is more than 30% so the sign wouldn't make sense. We went to the cashier and informed him about the sign. He told us NOTHING in the store is marked as a percentage. Then very slowly like I was dumb read that the price was originally $4.99 and now $3. We offered to show him and he said he couldn't leave the register. Understandable. The cashier next to him corrected him and said there are things marked as a percent and to call the manager. My husband then went to take a picture of the sign to be helpful and to make sure if the sign was wrong that it should be taken down. The cashier told us very rudely that we shouldn't do that. My husband went anyway and the cashier muttered something flippant. The manager came and was equally rude telling me the price was what it was and she didn't want to hear about the sign. Then she walked away. My husband then returned and i told him what happened. He asked me to point out the manager and started walking towards her. That's when the cashier radioed the manager with the alert to be careful that a very upset customer was coming her way. My husband showed her the sign and she said it only applied to things that were marked with a price. Well everything in the store is marked with a price. Made no sense so she then rudely told him that it was the price. We didn't care to waste our time. It isn't about the price it's about getting the sign right so no one else is misled. The cashier then again radioed the manager to check she was ok. Like us confronting her was our fault. I'm writing not because of the price difference but of how unprofessional the manager and cashier were. The managers name might have been Christine. We didn't catch the cashier's name. read more

Ok, I'm going to preface this by saying I'm now in a Marshalls 12-Step program as I can no longer realistically expect to go into this store and not walk out with something, usually 3 or 4 things actually. The prices and selection are phenomenal...now I'm a Marshalls fan from way back. I know they're owned by TJX (Winners, etc) and the concept is the same - you have to search for what you're looking for and there are some great finds, but the brands are higher end and I've always managed to find a good deal. Their shoe section alone is unbelievable..even for a budding Imelda Marcos such as myself. The store is well organised and I find it very easy to locate what I'm looking for. Their toy section isn't huge, but let's face it, since I don't shop for toys, I couldn't possibly care less. Love their home department, cute quirky chairs and lamps, one of kind items to give your personal space a little character...it's small, but it'll do. Prices are reasonable...on a recent visit I purchased 2 dresses and a cute summer top (all brand names) for less than 1/2 the price I spent on another dress I purchased somewhere else 2 days earlier...that's pretty darned good. I've visited the smaller Marshalls on John Street, but I much prefer this one. read more

I've been told by enough employees at Winners/Marshall's that the merchandise shipped to their stores is random and they never know what they'll get until they get it, but this location seems to get more of the good stuff than the other locations. Great/rare finds from this location include: Hugo Boss white oxford ($39.99), Kappa black t-shirt ($8!), Ralph Lauren Large towel ($9), and Cactus plaid button down ($29.99). The layout is open and easy to navigate and staff are friendly and helpful. They've got a good selection of pretty much everything you'd expect to find and the prices are good as always. Went to check out the Marshalls in the Aura building this Monday at about 6pm and it was pretty quiet inside. The place is pretty darn big with a nice home section (the purpose of my trip). This Marshalls is much more organized than the Marshalls I have been to in the US, maybe because it is still new. The home section has a great selection of cooking ware, furniture, linen, curtains, general housewares from brands that I love such as Umbra, and food products. Very well organized as well. They have a nice selection of clothing and shoes from designer brands like Valentino to regular department store brands like Max Studio. The clothing and shoes were not in a disarray like many Winners in Canada and Marshalls in the US, the sizes were actually arranged from Small to Large and clothing weren't all over the floors. The beauty section was nice with weird brands, drug store brands and high end brand items (there were Dior quads there!). Things in this section was not broken or opened, so were purchasable still. I didn't really check out the toy, lingerie and electronics sections but they looked neat. The prices are more expensive than the Marshalls in the US, but comparable to non-clearance prices at Winners and of course cheaper than the Bay. Overall, I had a good experience here because it is refreshing to see a "discount" department store that is organized and clean. I really hope that they can keep up the great organization, cleanliness and array of products. read more

I'm giving Marshall's a tepid 4 star rating (really more of a generous 3.5 stars). Marshall's is the high-end version of the TJ Maxx Empire which is includes the eponymous brand in the US and Winners and HomeSense in Canada. There are some advantages of this store relative to Winners: --It's organized and signed. You have some idea where things are. --It's clean and doesn't look like it was looted after Hurricane Katrina. --There's a pretty decent housewares section. --The employees are more helpful than Winners (a very low bar). That being said, the "compare to" prices are often pretty silly. Despite what seems like low prices, many things here are not actually that great of a deal and you could do better at the Bay even when they have a good sale. So far I've scored some pretty decent, reasonably priced items here including a great gym bag and a shower curtain at prices well below what I comparison-shopped them at. One TIP: Don't come on a weekend. That's when the crazy people come out that think it's ok to just throw everything on the floor after looking at it. read more

I *love* this Marshalls on the 3rd floor of the Aura building. Absolutely HUGE, but nicely laid out with a "Red Carpet" + good sized clothing section, furniture, gourmet foods, and you can catch a free wifi signal from Hard Candy located above! ;) I don't come here often, but every time that I have, it's been quite dead. Love it! And for pet lovers, I noticed that their selection of snacks, pet huts/mats, toys, accessories was quite vast. read more

Nice to have an alternative to winners- but unfortunately it's just not great. I've been here about 5 or 6 times now- and each time it looks like the exact same stuff, it just gets more and more picked over. Example: Instead of there being 30 mirrors, there are 10- and they're all ugly. I mainly go for the housewares and furniture... I've left empty handed more often than I feel is normal (since each time I go in, it's because I have the urge to spend, spend, spend)... I'll be back, because its close.. Really good homeware selection and great value on bedding. Clothing section not great. Particularly the leisure wear section. The hair accessories such as curling irons is poor. Nice selection of gourmet food bits. Overall impression is a well laid out store. Always looks tidy. Not a huge selection but worth a look. Bargain pillows available. I personally don't see what the hype is all about. The announcement of their move into Canada was like that of Target...but like Target they really haven't lived up to the hype. Yes, it is a chain very similar to Home Sense/Winners, but it just seems to be the bargain basement of the other chain. Perhaps this location is trying to make it more "upscale"...sort of a flagship store in a decent part of town....however the stuff here can be found elsewhere and usually in better shape. Here's an example...I went in just before Christmas and wandered over to Christmas ornaments that were marked down. Every one of them were broken, and I thought to myself....will people really buy broken stuff just because it's marked down 75%? The store itself is above street level in a very large condo building...so if you don't know where it is finding it can be a bit tricky. My recommendation would be to continue on elsewhere read more

Horrible customer service, they don't greet you, they walk by you not saying a thing. You never see ppl smiling. It's depressing there. I've see employees just walk around not doing anything but talking to others and not working. I like this location a lot better than the location on John street. So much more organized than Winners in College Park (always feel a little claustrophobic there). They have a great Women's section that is more youthful so I don't need to browse through all the racks to get what I need. Things are displayed more like a department store. They also have a fantastic maxi dress selection. Their home section is pretty nice too. read more

I really like this Marshall's. It is just over a year old and it is very clean and bright. Everything is well organized and easy to find. I do not shop for clothing items there often, so I can't comment on the selection. I find that they have a good housewares and kitchen area and you can find good deals there. I also like looking at their food selection as you can find unique items (e.g. sauces, dressings, spices) at decent prices. This store also has clean washrooms, which are a bonus. I prefer this Marshall's to the Winners that is just up the block. I find that the Winners is much busier and the items are strewn everywhere so it is hard to find items and it is not as pleasant of a shopping experience. read more

I was soooo looking forward to the opening of Marshalls. I have been to this location at least 5 times and I am less impressed each time. The stock is almost IDENTICAL to Winners! Nothing new or exciting here. Cheap brands and the styles are not up-to-date. The shoe department rarely has sizes and if you do find the size, it is missing the other shoe! Slowly but surely this location is my favorite place to go unlike their sister store winners across the street which is a madhouse in there this place gives more of a calm and shop how you like feel its very spacious they need more racks along the lines so much space and no inventory needs to be filled. I always find something to purchase here everything is so newt and tidy. The staff here are very welcoming and do greet you upon entry which is a nice touch. I like how everything is in order and you can find things with ease. My areas to shop are the pets area very extensive stuff and lots of bedding you can buy, the furniture section is like a mini IKEA which is nice, also the foods and snacks area has some healthy hearty snacks at good value and in stock!! There is free WiFi here and washrooms if you need to go. The line up cash goes so super fast and one more thing if you need help do ask an associate for help they are more than willing to ... read more

Let me preface this by saying how I dislike wasting my time and that I can only speak on behalf shopping as a guy. I was unfortunately in the position of going to marshals with my better half and all I can say is this is bottom end clearance of past seasons goods for guys from where ever they are being supplied. To be fair this is the holidays and perhaps things have been picked through but really I know these places are supposed to be a big deal south if the boarder for great finds but for some reason when they come north they assume Canadians are fashion backward end of the barrel shoppers.
