Since Bay is closing down for a while, this would be one of the last reviews. I went on the 2nd last day of the closing clearance and most of the stuff are already gone. There were still some fixtures left unsold, mainly mannequins, clothing racks, and some display stands. I was surprised how much inventory The Bay could get rid of. The jewelry section had a lot of people, but even if those cannot be sold on the last day, I'm sure it won't be wasted. Maybe if more sales event were done before getting bankrupted would have saved them. Now that Canadian Tire bought them out, it would be interesting to see what will be done to the store in the future when they choose some to reopen. I bought a dawn feather jacket from the online store around Dec. The shipping was pretty fast, like within 2 days. The quality was good, very light, but still very warm when I went out on the colder days. I got the black colour as it's the only colour left available. $110 for the dawn jacket was a steal. I really do hope they make good use of the real estate. read more

I have always LOVED The Bay Queen Street store and it's rich history. I would give it 5 stars if they didn't replace their lovely cafeteria on the 8th floor and their original food hall in the basement. I literally cried when they closed their cafeteria on the 8th floor and having gone there regularly for years, it was sad they replaced it an empty event space. I hated how they replaced their food service with Olivieri & Bonancini and going upscale was their downfall. The Pusateri's in the basement now overpriced and not as good as their original food hall, which catered to everyday people but now it's an overpriced upscale food place. But I love the clothes floors and the other departments. It's sad other Bay stores are closed but I feel fortunate this store is staying open and I will cherish it with all my heart and I hope it never closes. read more

When we tried to exchange for a larger size of the 2 Tommy T-shirts we ordered online, the associate lead Marwa at White Oak Mall, told us she could not take them because there was smoke on them. It was unbelievable; we just got it two hours ago. Order number 1222147986, and tracking 275024308033. I can guarantee there is absolutely no smoke on them. She kept telling us she could not do an exchange. We got extremely angry! After a 15-minute argument under everyone's watch, she finally felt shame and told us she could make an exception. Escalators are never completely working at its "flagship" store. This has been an issue at this location for several years. I have contacted corporate earlier, to no avail. This week, an entire escalator set is inoperative, but you can climb up or down the unforgiving steel grooved stairs at your own peril. This smacks of low rent, considering the high end names it offers. This shows a lack of responsibility; I have witnessed first hand what happens when one trips on a working escalator. It was A gruesome scene--bloodied victim & floor. Let a child trip on a non-working escalator; the Hudson's Bay will be sold once again. I bought a set of bedding online, and I never received the shipment, My condo manager pulled out our security footage that UPS never arrived at that time showing on the shipping receipt. Contacted The Bay customer service and they reject refund my money as they believed UPS had already shipped. I will never shop at the Bay anymore. On the 28th July, I placed an order, it did not go through Hence My gift card for $603 was used up My Reward points for $244 were used up My account was charged $57 all three have been used and Gift Card and Reward points show a $0 balance. I am a very regular customer, and this is really very upsetting, Now I do not know when they will be reversed, and i will lose the 25% discount which ends on Sunday the 30th. Besides, maybe some items i like might become out of stock. This is very disturbing for me. And i am extremely upset. I bought a phone case from Pandaco (marketplace affiliate on Hudson's Bay website) and within a few hrs wrote to the bay's customer service to cancel the order because I found a better price. I wrote to them twice! They only got back to me a few days later when the order already shipped! As usual the Bay's customer service is useless. They can't do anything and I need to deal with the seller (Pandaco). The seller just told me that I need to wait for the item to arrive and then ship it back. This was happening late Dec 2021. When I received the phone case, I knew I will need to return it, since it didn't look as good in person as on the picture. Also it was made out of the material that was like a thin metal which wouldn't offer much protection. On Jan 10, 2022 I took the item to the postal office, paid for the stamp and sent it back to the address provided by Pandaco. I contacted the the seller directly again via my hudson's bay account multiple times to check on the status and it is still not resolved!!! I haven't received my refund yet. Now they are telling me they have not received anything from me! If I would have known that I am not buying from the Bay and therefore can't return an item to the actual store, I would have never placed the order. Lesson learned, to avoid anything that the Bay sells vis marketplace and to avoid Pandaco. read more

They are for the independent watch battery and strap shop on the main floor of The Bay. It is located by the south door entrance and hidden from view behind the watch cases and department. It is a small room really with a few cases of watches, straps and is a one-man operation. I handed my watch to buy a battery and have it installed and the friendly man quoted me $30 including installation and told me it would be ready in 10 minutes. It was ready on-time and the watch has been running perfectly for a week. Moreover, he offers Bay points (which I do not collect) and stamped my receipt offering a two-year warrantee for the batteries should they stop working. Sounds good, right? read more

I was recently hired for a new job and needed some threads for the gig. I have a decent wardrobe but due to a certain lack of exercise and increase in staying in and eating more, I was having some trouble fitting into those clothes so I had to call in some ringers. It's the pandemic, and anyone who's been inside a store lately may have noticed that there isn't a lot of stock. You also wouldn't be faulted for thinking the increased amount of space was for Covid but I get the feeling it's actually because they just don't have any inventory. I was at a couple of Winners where they literally had five shirts. So as I'm hunting for some dress shirts I thought I'd the selection The Bay had last time I was there. I remembered Bay days and the ridiculous discounts they offered, on TOP of existing discounts, so I headed there. Well, this time wasn't quite as fruitful but they did have way more than five shirts! I was helped by a very helpful and nice clerk named Lorna, who took my comments about getting heavier and needing new shirts and didn't discriminate. She was very patient in trying to find me a color scheme and print I liked, and obliged my request to do so on a budget. In all honesty, one of the shirts I bought I ended up finding a cheaper similar shirt at another store to substitute, so I returned the one I'd bought from Lorna and apologized to the clerk named Robbie for having to do so, which he agreed to pass on to her along with my compliments to her. He was also quite helpful. Look, this is a tough industry right now. The lawyers and bankers and office staff aren't there anymore and basically it's taking apart the retail industry, especially clothing departments such as the suit and shirt section. But there two people were extremely helpful in my search for affordable clothing. If their boss is reading this, please buy those two a steak dinner and give them a raise. They deserve it! read more

I purchased an item from the Marketplace on The Bay's website. It was misrepresented as 18k and on the manufacturers site, it is 18k gold plate. It was in transit so I requested a return. Of course it was sent though an outsourced vendor and cannot be returned to the store. Not only is the item very very cheap in appearance, the stone is flat, without facets and something you could find at Walmart. Four attempts have been made to send this item back and to date, no response. Do not purchase items from The Bay without sourcing the manufacturer first. They are very sparse in their descriptions and intentionally mislead the quality of items (in addition to grossly inflated prices, this item could have been purchased from the actual manufacture for 100.00 less than the Bay). read more

Hudson Bay is the worst place to do any shopping. Its a nightmare to get any issues resolved with them. I am fighting hard to get a refund for a missing item for months now. No one should be shopping in this place. Worst customer service. This is not the first time they are doing something like this. Several cases are pending with the customer service with no sign of getting a refund from them. Items arrived broken and they give options to resolve the case. I was told either I can return it or get 20% off on the price. Due to pandemic I chose to take 20% off on the price. I have not received the refund yet. Forget that, even for missing items they do not give refunds. Once they take the time there is no way you are getting it back irrespective of whether you receive the item or not. read more

Hudsons Bay sells and and owns the Distinctly Home line, particularly these extremely poor throws that shed their material. BUYER BEWARE WHEN ITEM STATES 'FINAL SALE' meaning NO RETURNS ON THIS ITEM. I spent hours trying to clean my washer/dryer thinking that a good wash would fix their 'shedding' problem. Congratulations to the American company who ever own HB now - you have successfully ruined the iconic Hudsons Bay blanket reputation. I have contacted Hudsons Bay on several occasions but wasted my time on completely useless 'customer lack of service'. I usually go to the Hudson Bay Company store at Mayfair Centre in Victoria BC, Canada. Sometimes, I go to the Victoria downtown store at the Bay Centre. Their product prices are a lot higher than what you would find at Walmart, Canadian Tire, dollar stores, but most of their products are more upscale. The Bay stores get busy whenever they have a special sale discount going on and it is the weekend or a holiday. I love it that you can buy product on their web site and return it online or to one of the local stores for whatever reasons. The interesting part about Hudson's Bay Company is that is has a 353 year history in North America going back to the early fur trade. Their staffing level is a little sparse, but you will be able to find some staff if you make an effort to look. read more

I am a customer for over 15 years. Their assessment procedure got mattress issues is flawed so much that you would almost never get your mattress replaced no matter what the defect is, within 10 years of warranty period. You can tell this is the flagship location...Over 5 floors of the largest assortment. Love treating myself to a trip to this location once in a while. Staff are too nice, they put so much care into each transaction, I wish I knew one of the guys names in the Men's department, he made my day when I shopped there. The Bay utilizes TFORCE courier, I have only had horror stories for each of my deliveries "attempted" by these liars. I reached out to the courier company directly. Received no actual help and so we felt frustrated. We thought The Bay would be more than willing to help, so we described the service failures that we are experiencing. Ordered a pair of boots- they delivered the complete wrong order. I called customer service which confirmed they would resend me the boots and to send back the wrong order which I did. The boots finally arrived and I was charged twice for them. I have now called customer service 4 times and each time they tell me "item delivered so we can't refund you". I ordered a sweater online from Hudson's Bay back in December and what I got was an empty box. I called their number and was advised to return the empty box so I could get my money back. I find that a bit odd so I called them up the next day and the agent I spoke with assured me that I will get refunded within 10 days - No need to return the empty box. I've already called them up twice since and they've been telling me that my case has been escalated and that I will get my money soon. I ordered a desk a few months ago. They delivered it but it was missing many pieces. After several calls to a call center in the Philippines (I believe), no explanation could be found. I found the calls to customer service very frustrating and time consuming. They offered no answers, no option to speak with a manager etc. Eventually a pick-up was arranged to return the item. One of the agents asked if I had called the delivery company. It was as though I was supposed to problem solve myself. I eventually did call the delivery company out of frustration and they said the desk came in two boxes but only one was delivered - though this is not indicated anywhere. Received 2nd box a few days later but desk was flawed after a great deal of assembly. I kept it, as it would be too problematic to repack and go through customer service again. Due to all of this I was given 25% off my next purchase. I called to order a treadmill 4 days ago but of course was not allowed to use the discount. I was also told it could not be returned to the Bay as it was another vendor. I found that to be concerning but went ahead with the order. I immediately regretted the order and called to cancel it within minutes. That took another two calls with agents that didn't seem to know what to do or kept saying "hello" "hello" and not able to hear half of what I was saying. I was told I couldn't cancel the order through The Bay. What?? You can order and pay and then that's where their responsibility ends. They do not mention this when you order either. Just that you can't return the item to them. I find everything about the Bay to be so problematic and sketchy now. It is not the solid, dependable company it once was. I have made the decision to never order from them again. It seems they advertise under The Bay name for many other vendors and it's so incredibly difficult to get any straight answers from the agents. In other words they entice you with the Bay logo and colours but you are not looking at their products or any ongoing service past placing the order. They take your money within seconds of placing an order but apparently can take as long as they want to refund it. I have been waiting four days for a manager to call and no refund in sight. I really have no words that really describe the mess that is The Bay. It's truly disappointing to see how they have outsourced so much and then do not train the staff to sufficiently deal with problems nor have any authority whatsoever. Never again....... read more

I will never order from Hudson's Bay again and here is why. I had ordered a tank top online and when it arrived, I noticed that it had deodorant and sweat marks all over it, as if it had been worn and returned by someone else. It also had a different size on the tag than the one on the shirt itself. The sad thing is that this isn't the only problem I've had. Over a month ago, I had ordered a pair of bed slippers which were on sale that never arrived in the mail. The Bay also took the original price for these items from my back account. I had called customer service multiple times in the past month regarding when it would be delivered, or if I could get a refund, as they took more than what I should have paid for. I was transferred multiple time to different departments until I asked to speak to a supervisor. On different occasions, I was told that I couldn't speak to a supervisor because they don't work in the mornings, or that they weren't in at all. At his point I don't know what to believe. I was finally able to speak to someone who told me that they would look into it and call me back...still haven't received a call after 2 weeks. read more
