Over the last 2 years I have grown very fond of Winners. This is mainly due to the fact that I graduated 2 years ago and my usual, frugal nature causes me to cringe at the normal retail price of business clothes. Winners is my go to place for basically everything with respect to clothing, shoes, and skin care products! This is by far my favourite branch, given that it is very accessible via the TTC and that it's across from the Eaton Centre. Since it's across from the Eaton Centre, I can simply march over to the mall when I can't find what I need here. This is a central spot for watching movies for me, so when I have time to kill before a showing, Winners is the best pastime. The Best: - Prices are often 30-40 percent off the retail value of decent to high end brands - I can only wear pants that are Short, not Regular in length. Many stores do not stock up on Short pants in Toronto, but thankfully the pants in the Mode section of Winners are perfect for people who wear Short length pants. Don't be fooled by the fact that the Mode section caters towards teen girls, as a lot of the clothes may fit adult women as well. - This branch tends to have better quality items or better designer items than other branches - I noticed that in the last few months, Winners has been stocking up on many Korean skincare products, particularly cleansers and sheet masks. This has been quite a blessing for me since I will no longer have to go through the hassle of purchasing my goods via Amazon/eBay. - There's a phone charging station that is password protected in the center of the store. Since I usually spend 1 hour on average in Winners, I abuse the charger during this time. What Could be Improved: - When it comes to business clothes, a staple in any woman's closet are black flats. I noticed that many branches don't tend to carry stylish black flats that would suit business/office settings. Even if they did, there would only be one or two pairs, and they would be sold off in a heartbeat! This was always a peculiar point for me because I always thought that this would be a common type of item they would stock up on as they could sell very easily, especially in this part of the city. I, unfortunately, had to make 4 trips to this branch on different occasions until I found black flats that were decent enough to wear to the office. - Many of their makeup products (not to be mixed up with skincare products) are from brands that are not well-regarded or they are from unknown brands. I would love to see more drugstore brands here as well as some designer brands that could help Winners rival Sephora for the budget-friendly consumers.

    Union Market

(This review was written on 2023-05-11 but couldn't be posted until Yelp approved "Union Market" on…read more2023-06-05!) Toronto's Union Station has expanded in the past 10 years. They now have zones called neighbourhoods. The newest neighbourhood is called Union Market, which opened 2023-05-09. This neighbourhood is made up of many stalls with many different vendors. Every stall is very modern. There are a few permanent vendors and 2 pop-ups on opening day. A few other vendors will open soon. There are a few lounging stalls with tables and chairs. There is even a sub-neighbourhood called Union Fresh Market! Union Market is not easy to find because it is tucked away when coming from the Union Station Subway Station. I had to ask some other vendors to point the way for me. There is "The PATH" that runs through the middle. The current stalls are south of The PATH. The stalls north of The PATH will open Sep 2023. It seems obvious to me I haven't explored Union Station since at least 2018 since I didn't know they extended The PATH into Union Station! The current vendors are: - The Alley - Patties Express - Chocollata Gourmet Brigadeiros - My Olive - Lena's Floral Design - Manotas Organics (not open yet) - Gemlet (pop-up) - Virtue Vintage (pop-up) I spoke to the staff/owners at each stall except for The Alley because they were constantly busy while I was there 16:15 to 19:30. I'm excited for Union Station. They made a modern Union Food Court many years ago, then they opened the Union Foodie Aisle in 2022, and now Union Market in.2023. The place is wheelchair accessible. There are washrooms nearby but not in Union Market. There is very little paid neighbourhood street parking, but there are paid parking lots. Review 2023-127

There were still some fixtures left unsold, mainly mannequins, clothing racks, and some display stands. I was surprised how much inventory The Bay could get rid of. The jewelry section had a lot of people, but even if those cannot be sold on the last day, I'm sure it won't be wasted. Maybe if more sales event were done before getting bankrupted would have saved them. Now that Canadian Tire bought them out, it would be interesting to see what will be done to the store in the future when they choose some to reopen. I bought a dawn feather jacket from the online store around Dec. The shipping was pretty fast, like within 2 days. The quality was good, very light, but still very warm when I went out on the colder days. I got the black colour as it's the only colour left available. $110 for the dawn jacket was a steal. I really do hope they make good use of the real estate.

I literally cried when they closed their cafeteria on the 8th floor and having gone there regularly for years, it was sad they replaced it an empty event space. I hated how they replaced their food service with Olivieri & Bonancini and going upscale was their downfall. The Pusateri's in the basement now overpriced and not as good as their original food hall, which catered to everyday people but now it's an overpriced upscale food place. But I love the clothes floors and the other departments. It's sad other Bay stores are closed but I feel fortunate this store is staying open and I will cherish it with all my heart and I hope it never closes.

When you come in, it does give a slight attic smell, which I don't mind. They told me they usually restock on Thursdays and the other location by Sterling Road usually carries even more inventory. I purchased a shiatsu massager and back up Aukey earphones that were new in package from the Ex. However, the earphones didn't work. The great thing is they are one of the few or probably only liquidators that I know that allows for a 7 day return if there's an issue. Normally most discount liquidators I've been to, it's pretty much the final sale. I wasn't able to visit within 7 days, but did send them an email with the issue with the earphones so they extended the warranty for me to come in within the end of the month to get store credit or exchange, which I'm so grateful for. Apparently they sold hundreds of those earphones and only a few came back with issues. I was able to drop by yesterday after work and decided to exchange for another shiatsu massager for my in-laws. What I appreciate about this spot is that it's relatively organized in shelves with multiple copies of an item. There are bargain bins too for $5 if you really want to search for any deals and treasures. I much prefer than other liquidators where usually things are thrown in bins and you don't know exactly what it is until you open it. The staff there was also super patient and friendly. Definitely if you're in the area peek in and see if you score any deals. They will be moving back inventory from the Ex today and the pricing seems to be the same. Though they might offer tax off discounts with cash at the Ex but not at the store.

This bank has offices scattered throughout the downtown core. We occupied the ninth floor. I loved the location. I'd take the GO train from Markham down to Union Station, and take the PATH briefly to Brookfield Place. There are a bunch of elevators that don't all go up to the same floors. You need to find the floor interval that suits where you want to go. If you are a visitor, Brookfield Place is beautiful. I remember taking a couple of Swedish colleagues to a Toronto Maple Leafs game and we passed by my old workplace. The Hockey Hall of Fame is located in Brookfield Place. I suggested that they go, as they were huge hockey fans like I am. They went the following day and absolutely loved it. My love for Starbucks is due to working at Brookfield Place. I'd drop downstairs to get a drink and take a breather. It's convenient to do a bit of shopping or grab a bite to eat. There's a food court where there are many fast food eateries. I'm sure they have changed since I was last there. There is also a Longo's Market. I'd often get cubed fruit, such as watermelon and cantaloupe, that was easy to eat at my desk to keep me content throughout the afternoon. There used to be a Marche, where you can choose from sandwiches and hot meals. I don't think it's there anymore, but it was awesome. The top floor is where you get to see the high glass ceiling and gorgeous architecture. I didn't appreciate it when I worked here because it was a fairly crazy time in my life working full-time and doing a master's degree part-time. However, when I have returned as a visitor, be it during Nuit Blanche or when I'm heading to Scotiabank Arena, I appreciate how beautiful the crystal cathedral of commerce is. My favourite memory will always be lining up with a few colleagues to get a free heart rate monitor on the first floor of Brookfield Place. We enjoyed missing a bit of work, chatting with one other, and getting a health gift in return. I gave mine to my parents and they still use it to this day. I miss Brookfield Place and the various giveaways that take place. I don't miss the job that I had or the stress that I had experienced. Luckily, I do get to drop by whenever I'm attending a concert. I was first shocked to find this hidden little gem among the strip of random stores and adult boutiques lining Yonge st at this area, but this little shop stood out among the rest . The store itself was neat and tidy, a little on the small side but jam packed with all manner of fabulous things! Its actually hard to take in everything so be prepared to spend some time perusing the racks filled with a wide range of styles and truly eclectic selection of unique pieces. New stock is shipped in every single week with many of the items available in small quantities making them less common, just like the general style of the stores clothing. With such a large array of clothing and styles its hard to think anyone would walk out empty handed; everything from jackets, bustiers and sweaters to shoes, jeans and jewelry, all extremely original pieces too. I am what you would call a "seasoned shopper" and even I was amazed at the variety, quality and above anything else affordability of everything in the store... literally EVERYTHING was on sale!!! It certainly doesn't hurt that he owner of the store is a wonderfully kind, friendly and helpful man with a no pressure sales approach and a good eye; offering excellent fashion advice. While I was shopping it had begun to pour and I had literally nothing but the clothes on my back but he was kind enough to insist that I borrow his umbrella knowing full well I would be back .... little does he know it will be so soon, I have to finish my hair tomorrow so I shall be back to return his umbrella and scour the racks once more
