The employees were not at all friendly.. No one asked if we needed help..I believe that is in the Marshalls handbook.. says 10 ft engage with customer.. We were passed by 4 employees and the cashier.. They were not friendly and not helpful.. Santa Rosa Marshalls take note.. There was an employee there and it could have been a secret shopper.. This store is at a very convenient location. That's it's USP. After being at Costco, Target or any other shopping (them all being in the vicinity), should you need to quickly hop into a store to buy one of those fancy home items, a nice condiment, a gift or even some basic accessories, this is your go to place. The variety is not as huge as an outlet store n yet it's a make do :) read more

Was being watched by a cashier. Everything I look up she was staring at me and my elder mother. The same cashier was rude to me when I heard number 5. I actually went to number 7 by mistake. She yelled im number 7. I said your light was on and I thought it said 5. She stared and my mother and myself. I looked at her and asked why she was staring. It was evil. read more

Hands-down, one of the best branches in the vicinity. Stellar displays, excellent merchandise, wide variety of clothing /accessories and shoes. Very impressive household items, handbags scarves and lingerie. We assumed the store was new because everything was in pristine order. read more

Update July 2015: I have found no need to buy men's clothes here for the past 5 years, though my wife drags me in here with her once per season. I've become a super deep discount shopper at Macy's downtown Santa Rosa store. Yesterday I bought 2 pair of golf slacks on the 65% off rack. Original price $80 per. Final price after additional discounts, $11.90. Though I am critical of Macy's slow & steady descent into shabbiness, I certainly get better clothes quality for lower prices than Marshalls. __________________________________________ I am a big fan of Marshall's when the store has good quality merchandise in a well maintained store. The Novato Store is nice. The Marshall's in the Pruneyard Campbell / San Jose CA is great. This one located on the crappy side of Santa Rosa sucks. Poor clothing selection. Men's clothing selection is dismal. Any Penny's has a better men's section than this place. Disorganized layout. Overcrowded aisles. Too tightly packed racks, take one item off the rung & 4 more fall to the floor. Merchandise scattered around by the low budget shoppers is not picked up by the employees. I've been in better looking Salvation Army stores. Avoid this place. read more

Sometimes I'm in search of that less common/ more difficult to find nicknack to make my space feel more uniquely mine! Other times I want cute boots and bras. Whatever I am searching for I've enjoyed roaming the aisles for treasure that won't break my bank account! There's a little bit of everything here. Throw pillows, club chairs, wood wick burning candles, glassware, cooking utensils, cookware, SHOES, yoga mats, free weights seasonal themed items luggage etc. Ok maybe not everything. Decent Marshalls in a convenient location with a big parking lot. Clothes were about as you'd expect, and their selection of housewares was okay. Lots of pet beds and some other pet accessories that I wasn't expecting so that was nice. I ended up buying some stationary and a couple other small things and some snacks that tasted a little stale, which I should have anticipated. Staff that helped me were polite and friendly. Marshalls is a great place for inexpensive stuff. I go there mostly for clothes since they're just as good as regular stores, but much cheaper prices. I check out the shoes there pretty often, but don't find much in my size 12.5-13. Others surely have an easier time finding decent shoes there. They also have a nice collection of kitchen and bathroom stuff, but I don't stock up on that too often. read more

Marshall's is pretty much a nicer ROSS. You can find incredible deals if you sort, pick and dig. This is a HUGE location in the Costco shopping center. This place is great catered to women. If your a dude.....you have a very slim selection of clothes to choose from. If you are a husband that got drug here by your wife, then I am sorry. Marshalls sells ear buds to help make your shopping experience more pleasant. When I come to Marshall's, I head straight for their active wear section. I would like to see more tank tops available. After I go through the active section, I then head straight for their Pet Section. They actually just happened to move the pet section. I had a mild heart attack because I couldn't find it. I can find poop bags, name brand toys & shampoos for a 1/3 to a 1/2 of what Petco and Petsmart would sell. All in all........clean store and great deals. Today, the cashier wouldn't take "NO" for an answer when I told her "No Thank You" for the Tj Max credit card. read more

I am a frequent Marshall shopper. I don't come here to load up my cart with huge quantities of stuff, like I do sometimes at ross. This is more of a pick and hunt kinda place. But!! I do love jean shopping here. If you are patient and are willing to sort through the racks, you can find some outrageous deals on great jeans. I love buffalo jeans, and I buy them all here at marshalls. I also love their kitchen area. I recently have purchased 2 aprons here, as well as storage containers and a beautiful teapot. Its not the 'go to place' when you are looking for something specific and in a hurry, but if you are planning, or looking to complete something over time, there are some good deals to be had. I got 6 souffle cups for $3.99. They are martha stewart, and easily a $20 purchase anywhere else. Maybe you don't need soufffle cups.. but I do. read more

I wish they wouldn't allow parents to let their children run around screaming and crying. It's unpleasant for the sensitive ears! Also they need to have more seats to try on shoes. I've been a Marshalls/TJ shopper for many years now, and once you realize that they may not have your size, you just might stumble on something marvelous, like a Ralph Lauren cotton jacket I've worn for about 10 years, and a couple of Anne Klein numbers (size 12 yet!) that were much, much below their original price. But today they called me to tell me they had found my wallet, lost and given up for dead. I went to collect it, found it all intact, but couldn't find out who had found it. If a stranger, thank you so much; if a Marshall's employee, you're a fine honest person and deserve a raise, and I wish I had had the chance to thank you in person. P.S. Forget the grumpy reviews. Marshalls is the stop that you have to make if you are planning to update your wardrobe, kill some time, or spend some money. You have to go in to the store with the mentality that yes, this is a discount retailer, yes it's on the south side of Santa Rosa, and finally, yes, it get's busy on the weekend. Don't expect to get catered on by the staff, don't expect to find what you are looking for, and expect to deal with some entitled obnoxious customers, but if you manage to get through that, you will be amazed what you can find. My greatest find was $1500 John Varvatos jacket I got for $150. The quality of clothing Marshalls offers is vastly superior to those that Ross and Burlngton offer. Yes you will have cross over, but Marshalls offers more designer brands that are geared towards sophisticated styles, while Ross and Burlington are more street wear/swag stores. Overall, I love Marshalls for giving me the opportunity to keep up with trends and low prices. Hell even Clinton Kelly and Stacey London of TLC's What Not To Wear recommend Marshalls as a place to buy great clothes at even better prices. Get ready to hunt and be amazed at how good you look with your awesome Marshalls finds. read more

If I could take stars away, i'd do -5. Very poor customer service! Would not allow me to use a family room with my child that has a seizure disorder, and instead we were told we had to wait for mens room, they only have two and had to squeeze into a small fitting room. And the younger clerks are rude. They really give you the evil eye but if it's a young handsome man, smiles from ear to ear. I've been shopping there for years, you just lost a customer. These young primadonas need to know that in business, you accommodate to the customer, its just a fitting room. I will be calling their customer service and report it. I've never had any issues in any stores and made me upset being treated discriminatory like we were today. read more

I bought a purse there 2 days ago & the strap broke. I went back to Marshall's to exchange it & they wouldn't allow it (with or without a receipt). Why wouldn't they exchange a product that they carry that is clearly defective (a purse should not break after 2 days of using it). Yes, I did save money by buying my purse at Marshall's but the fact that I can't ever return a defective product makes me not want to ever purchase anything from Marshall's again. read more

As a frequent shopper of Marshall's I thought I new the rules of check out and returns considering every time I am there someone is usually angry about the "check out" line. Not every one reads the sign that says "form one line". OK so I go and shop and then head to the return counter to make a exchange. Not a soul around and BOTH registers have a sign that say "This register closed please go to the next line". So I thought well I better head for that long line because I do not have all day. They must be short handed not to have anyone working in returns. So I stand in line and finally it is my turn. As I put my return on the counter I can see the girl shaking her head. I am in the wrong line and need to head to returns. I explained no one was there and it said for me to come over here. Well the checker next to us calls Maria over and says "Can you help do a return because this lady is causing a seen". Feeling very insulted for trying to explain my situation I ask Maria. "What is the policy?" What should I have done. There is no bell to ring it did not say wait her someone will return shortly.........Then the Manager pops his head over and said "If you would have just wait someone would have helped you". OK. My question is what idiot waits at a sign that says "CLOSED, GO TO NEXT LINE". Not one employee said to me sorry for the confusion, we should fix that or let me help you. No they all made me fell bad for following the sign. I do realize TJ MAXX is the same company but it opens it's doors on the 21st and I would much prefer to do my business there. Let me go back 2 days prior to this experience. Again headed in for exchange to the return counter and some lady darted in front of me. She had been waiting in the single line and assumed it was her turn. After the guy at the counter explained she had to go back this was returns she did not seem happy. He looked at me and said "Let me just help her first". That's fine I replied. So considering EVERY time I go in and there always seem to be confusion over where to stand in line; does Marshall's have stupid customer's shopping at their store or does Marshall's have stupid employees??????? My sister was racially profiled in this store today. She wanted to try a dress and a shoe on and the lady in the dressing room said it was against company policy and she could lose her job for allowing a customer wear a dress and attempt to pick up a shoe to match with it. The manager on duty knocked on her door when she was fitting the dress and was handed an anti theft placard. This is quite embarrassing that Marshalls would hire operatives without training them on the ills of subconscious bias. So sad. If you are black please do not go to that store. read more

I've been shopping at this store for years. It is hit and miss, and you do have to be patient, but I've found some great deals. I've also found clothing on sale or clearance that had holes, tears, especially with sweater's which is a bummer. Why do they try to sell stuff like that? Other than that I've purchased many journals, shoes, and tops. Like I said, I've gotten some really good stuff there. They have a good return policy, never had a problem. Some days I don't find anything, but it's fun looking. Certain times of the year the lines can be really long, but for the most part, not so bad. Need more plus size stylish clothing though. Marshalls is hit and miss. Sometimes they gave tons of good quality stuff at awesome prices and other times nothing. I go there for socks, tee shirts, and basic stuff all the time. It's amazing how cheap it is for that stuff. I'm a bargain person and font mind goodwill, thrift stores, garage sales or whatever. I feel like people who turn their backs at those places sort of think the same thing about marshalls. Fine with me if they miss out, mire for the smart ones. I do not recommend this location or store whatsoever. I went in to shop around to see what I could find for my kids and I and during my entire shopping experience I was stalked and followed and watched by the staff there. I am in customer service myself and let me assure you, it was not in a service, courtious type of way they obviously dont know a theif from a person there to spend money and It made me feel uncomfortable. Not to mention when I had nearly a full cart and I turn my back for not even two minutes to look at an item, I turn around and my cart was GONE! They actually took my cart to the front and proceeding putting my items away! I had to search around for what happened to my cart and things! I've had my own issues with the check-out line around Christmas (haven't really gotten into "Yelping" until now). It was a Thursday afternoon around 4pm and my wife and I were walking to the front of the store to check out. There was a woman standing in-between some clothes racks that we didn't notice and two registers open with only one person in line at each...so we walk up behind one of them and wait. I start looking around and the woman by the clothes racks starts waving at me. She pointed up and there was a sign that says "Line Forms Here" over her head. Assuming she got in line behind us, I shrugged and gave her a "Oh well, we'll wait up here" look as the transaction in front of me ended and they began to ring us up. About 15 seconds later, an employee comes over and accusingly says "You can't jump the line...there are people ahead of you." as he gets on the register next to us and calls over the woman from the clothes rack who then starts to rant with the employee about how rude we were. This continued as I tried to explain it was an honest mistake and I'm not some a-hole looking to save 3 minutes of time. The employee continued to discuss our rudeness with the customer! Needless to say, we left and haven't been back. Why would you have a single-feeding line on a Thursday at 4pm? Expecting a huge rush of people looking for mismatching patterned plates and clothes missing buttons? read more

Marshalls prices are way too high. They advertise low 60% off retail all the time when they are only about 20% off retail on 90% of their merchandise. Only the junk is actually discounted. It doesn't matter what department, it is all overpriced for this pretend discount store. read more
