I came here recently during Christmas shopping season and I do NOT usually shop here. I don't know the last time I even stepped into a Marshalls but I feel like I was rediscovering it for the first time. I told my husband, "This place is cool... Look at this stuff... They have Coach.. They have Jordan clothes for kids.. Look at these kids toys, so cheap! I just bought one at Target double the price.. Why don't we shop here??!! We should shop here!!!" I was blown away by how affordable things were. They had a nice selection of housewares decor that I would actually buy if I were shopping for my house. It reminded me a bit of Dollars Tree due to the craziness inside there, the disorganized shelves, mess everywhere, limited quantities of certain items, hit or miss items (sometimes they're available, sometimes they're not), and sales associates not really helpful or know information about anything. There were two guitars by the front register and I checked all sides and there was no price tag or label. I asked the nearest cashier if she knew what the price was. She wasted time looking all over for the label that I already knew wasn't there. She asked someone else at the register if she knew what the price was. She did the same thing looking all over for the price tag. Um hello for the 15th time there is no price tag which is the reason why I'm sitting here wasting time and asking you guys. They proceed to talk, "There's no price tag?" "No I don't think so. Here let's look again." After what seemed to be a lifetime of looking, they decided to call and ask someone that was at another part of the store. "Do you know how much these guitars are?" "Which ones?" "The ones by the register" "There's no price tag on them?" "No" "There's not even a label or sku?" "No" "Ummm... 89.00. How would she know that without scanning or seeing the actual item? What if it was on sale or marked down? I was not satisfied with this estimate of price that I felt was totally made up and expensive so I decided to pass. It was a total waste of time waiting for them to try to figure it out and then just ask someone who pulled a price out of her.... Anyways I would not trust them if something was untagged and they just made up a price because it was the only item in the store. The other brand name items with a cheap price tag are worth it though. read more

Earlier this week I shopped at Marshall's San Mateo and today went back to return a pair of jeans and a coconut oil that had been tampered and used. I advise all future shoppers at Marshall's to please check their coconut oils before purchasing for evidence of tampering or being used in the store because in my experience that coconut oil will seep out and ruin your receipt and keep you from being able to return anything you purchased on that receipt. I normally don't leave negative reviews but until today I will never be shopping at Marshall's again. My shopping experience was awful. There was a female manager who was incredibly rude about my return. She refused to help me and continued to talk over me and the employee at the register. She continued waving her hands to shut us up whenever her employee and I tried to explain the situation because it was evident she was confused. She refused to help me with a simple return and argued it was "extremely complicated." However, Marshall's Redwood City location manager who gave excellent customer service explained to go back to Marshall's San Mateo to complete my return because only they would be able to use their register and retrieve my original transaction/receipt for the return to be completed and believing that, I drove back to Marshall's SM only to be dismissed by this Filipino manager. I have never felt so uncomfortable and belittled. It's unfortunate that this woman hates her customer service job so much that she is losing future business for Marshall's and disrespecting and dismissing her own employees and customers. read more

Coming into Marshalls or any type of sale/discount store, it's really a hit or miss. This is one of the better Marshall's that I've been to. Pretty clean, not too crowded and their inventory seems to be well stocked. Large shoe selection as well as clearance sections. Weekends can be a hassle though. Ladies activewear has a good selection. Bought many workout tops and pants here for less than 15 dollars each instead of spending like $30 a piece or more at Sports Authority. Got some jean shorts for like $13.00 and Giants t-shirts for $7.00. Whatta steal! The employees here don't really greet you or anything but they usually smile. The ones working the registers though are really pleasant and don't interrogate you when you want to return or exchange something. All in all, great store. Oh and by the way, their fitting room is huge and clean. I really didn't expect it to be that nice. read more

Their staff is absolutely incompetent. Their return process is infuriating. I purchased shoes two days ago and now I can't return them because label is not attached. They made me wait 45 mins to check their cameras to make sure I bought it here even though I had a receipt which stated that it was bought here. I understand it's a discount store but have some sort of process in place to not make a customer wait 45 mins to tell them what they already know. read more

I have been coming to this Marshall's for 3 years. And yes, it looks so new on the outside you would think it would be something special inside. Nope. I feel like as the years have gone by the store has gotten worse. I remember the first couple times I came to browse I was very impressed by the selections, name brands, and prices. Today, this Marshall's seems to be focused more on having a furniture department rather than on clothes. I must say though, I have found great kitchenware here (which is why it gets my 2 stars.) I wish they had a better shoe department (like they used too). Also, come here during the weekday in the morning--otherwise it gets busy and the lines can get can ridiculously long. read more

I always love coming to this Marshalls location. I always end up finding something within a 5 minute timespan. This location never fails me because I always have those impulse buys. I always find trendy underwear, outerwear, dress wear, work wear and sleep wear here. I've purchased a few picture frames from here as well that have that vintage look. I always get good Customer Service when I go to the front to check out. If any males out there are looking for a dress shirt, they have these Dress Shirt, Tie combo's that are awesome. read more

I love Marshalls stores and this one is not an exception. Located at a very nice, spacious, safe and full of parking spots shopping area, you can find at this store all you need for your house, clothes and gifts for a good price. My only complain compared to other Marshalls out there is that the gourmet food section is not as replenished. Rarely I find olives (and I love finding olives from different countries at those shelves!). Please, bring the high quality Spanish and Greek olives back! read more

Every time I make a trip to the bay area to visit the family, I drag my mom to Marshalls to stock up on shoes and clothes. The Marshalls in St. Louis are terrible, so I save my discount shopping for these trips. I was thoroughly disappointed with the stores inventory on my latest visit. Every pair of shoes that I liked only came in a size 6 or sizes larger than a 9. No offense, but the majority of women are not big foot! I really wanted to get a pair of new heels for a job interview and I walked out of there empty handed. Next time I will skip this location and go straight to San Bruno. I always score on shoes there, and sometimes on clearance! read more

I never knew that Marshall's had so many brand name products. It's actually quite amazing walking into this place and finding brand name products for fairly reasonable prices. I like that this location is pretty clean and there isn't too much stuff lying around and the store doesn't look clustered. I hate walking into stores like Ross, Marshall's, TJ Maxx, or even Burlington Coat Factory where everything is all over the place; it makes me NOT want to shop when a store is like that. I have to say this place is definitely clean, the racks are not overly stuffed so you don't spend tons of time going through them Staff is quite friendly and prompt with their service. I was fortunate enough to find a pair of Steve Madden nude heels for cheap and I love them. There are so many shoes, boots, slippers, Joe jeans, and a bunch of other things that both women, children and men will be able to enjoy at cheap prices. I definitely would shop here again. The selection on Joe jeans is very slim, however they do have them and I believe they are about 20 bucks cheaper than Nordstrom Rack. What?!?! read more

So I'm in the office today and strap on my shoe breaks. I ask myself, "Do I tough it out and risk falling (highly unlikely that it would take a broken shoe to do the trick. I've been known to fall even with no shoes on at all) , or do I use this as an excuse to buy a new pair of shoes?" Guess what? I opted for the second option. I got 3 pairs of sassy new shoes and a really cool poncho, all for just a little over $100. The shoe selection at this Marshalls is awesome. True, there isn't lots of structure here at Marshalls, and you will need to separate the wheat from the chaff. But you can walk away with some real values - and after your shopping is over, and you're sitting home with the items you purchased that day: what's more important? How the merchandise was organized or how much you still have left in your wallet? Here's a little secret: When you walk into a store and see the same people you KNOW shop at CostCo, you're gonna get your money's worth. You do need to examine the items for cracks and chips. Customers sometimes take them apart and drop pieces on the floor. If you shop around and compare, you'll find some of the exact same items at Pier 1 across the street, for half the price. Another secret: World Market Cost Plus at Hillsdale is a good alternative if you can't find what you're looking for, here - they are more organized, and their prices are sometimes even lower. read more

The selection of goods is decent here. Very similar to Ross but maybe slightly more nicer and more expensive for some kitchenware. However some of the small kitchen items were hard to find due to the general lack of organization in some areas. I tried to look for a wooden cutting board and I could only find damaged ones in the clearance section, unfortunately. It's generally a hit or miss to find what you want here. read more

If you catch deals and sales at the right time; this store can be one of the greatest places to shop, but the only problem is; many of the items in stock are usually repetitive or less than fashionable. I usually stop by here whenever I'm in San Mateo to see if I can add to my shoe collection, but 9 times out of 10; I leave empty handed. The selection of men's shoes are very weak here, no one with any fashion sense would be caught in Crocs or Top Siders in their daily life. This is one of my favorite Marshall's to go to when I'm in the area. Great selection of shoes, clothing, accessories, etc. I recently purchased a pair of mid calve leather boots for only $25.00, what a deal. Regularly priced everywhere else for well over $75.00. You will be surprised what you will find here. Going through each rack careful you could get some really great bargains. Picked up a few pairs of dress pants, jeans and a jacket. What a good afternoon finding the things you want and a good price to boot.... Conveniently located in Bridgepoint Plaza with a lot of parking, restaurants, and stores. I always find what I'm looking for here and then some. They have a large selection of home goods. I wiped out the sleepware. Every single item is holding up well. I would pass on the shoes though. I had a hard time returning a cute pair of pumas. The sole was coming off afer like a week, and the manager was like "but they're worn". So as far as customer service foes, it's not that great. There's usually a line, sometimes a long line but as far as shopping goes this is a goldmine. read more

Came here today with my husband and newborn to look for fleece swaddle blankets. I found a cute little outfit but noticed that it was stained with something like ink. It was no biggie but I asked the cashier if she could give a discount since it was the last one and it was dirty she said sure I could give you 10% so she walks away to print a new tag and comes back and says "the person who is authorized to print out new tags said no." I'm like excuse me? Said no? For 10% off a 6 dollar outfit? Normally other places will offer the discount and just make it nonrefundable. No explanation for anything as to why she said no. I usually have a lot of patience when it comes to retail workers since that's where I started from . However this old Filipino manager was a compete a-hole. Like is the 10% coming from your paycheck? No!! 10% much it's literally taking sales tax off!! So I walk out and let Her know when a customer complains of something that's dirty and ask for a discount you should consider since it's not like they were asking for a handout. She looked like she was completely unhappy with her job. There were only 2 cashiers working while she was standing the the end of the cash wrap processing go backs. Sad to say marshals is losing business from this store with every interaction customers has with this manager. And maybe they should consider putting her in the back in the stock room so people won't have to interact with this unpleasant individual. read more

Marshall's has turned to a messy over odorized store. Since the new store manager has arrived the appearance of the store has changed. Initially I thought it was more organized, but on a closer look it is not. New incoming merchandise is not displayed properly as before. It appears that someone just dumped it somewhere. The disorganization got worse after the store reopened in June and seems to go down hill. Since then the store has an intense odor of the hand sanitizer that is offered by the store. In addition the new store manager is not very nice to the store associates. She comes to the register - violates the 6 feet social distancing to the associate. Overtakes the register. Does not apologize to the associate or customer for this interruption. The store associate needs to stop. When the store manager is done with extracting money from the register the associate has to log into the register to continue assisting the waiting customer. It happen to me in two visits in both cases the store associate that assisted me apologized for the interruption, but the store manager did not. She spoke in a very demeaning/ commanding way to the two associates that assisted me. I feel very sorry for the associates to be treated in this way ..... . In addition, the numbers of tickets missing on merchandise is getting an issue as it increases the time that you are getting through the line at the register. read more

The lines are always long. I had something literally fall apart and although i brought it in a month later- the sore clerk said " if it had been two days ago maybe". However, good stores will take back merchandise despite how long it's been. This purse was literally falling apart. Not good service. I have never been able to get into the whole "Go every Tuesday because that's when the new shit gets there" phenomenon, including Marshall's, TJ Maxx, Steinmart, etc. For one thing, when you're six-four, all the good stuff is long gone no matter when you go, so you'll be able to select items that Colonel Sanders or Doc Severinsen would probably have worn. I always shop at Marshalls when I'm in town and a couple of weeks ago I decided to stop with my dad and see what new stuff they had. It turned they had only one item and I needed 2. I was buying other things and I thought I would ask the cashier if they had any more elsewhere ... not only was she cordial and pleasant, she went out of her way to look to see if they had it elsewhere and they did and she asked them if they would hold for me to pick up the next day since they were closing soon. I wanted to write this for a while but I didn't know her name (rude on my part) but few days later I went back to the store and she was there and I asked her if she remembered me and said yes and asked if I got the items. I thanked her and and this time I noticed her name tag...So "Nydia" not only do I want to thank you for your excellent service and taking the time to call various stores until you found the items, but also say next time I'm in town I will definitely look for you! read more

The stuff in the store could be great... But the staff (even managers) are horrible. I rarely try items on in a store. I like to purchase and try on at home. It's rare that I don't end up returning stuff. According to one manager on duty they need to triple check items, picking them up, studying them and giving me looks because people steal things. My son found the perfect jacket while visiting this windy city and when we went to check out, there were 3 registers open when about 20 people waiting to check out. The lady that was last in line when we got there had only moved 2 ft when we came to check out. This Marshall's is not all that bad, compared to the one in San Bruno & Colma. this location has the better selection out of the two other mentioned. I have always gone to Marshalls for things around the house i.e. towels, they even have a wide selection of Egyptian cotton bath towel, but you have to inspect it because some are really defective or seconds. The last time I was there, they had a wide selection of odds and ends furniture...pretty cheap. Not a bad place if you are on a budget and furnishing an apt or condo. OH, but I have to say my experience with the cashier....she was practically "dead" and must have been the most miserable person with the most miserable job. No smile very robotic movement and sloooooooooooooow, she was literally moving in slow motion. I guess her way of stretching her work time without really working!!!! read more

This store takes a lot of patience. It is filled with amazing deals (a Le Mystere bra for $8.00 that was originally $58), but they are hard to find. The clientele is hard to deal with sometimes. There are always a lot of children running around and throwing things. Because of this, nothing is ever in the right place and it always looks a mess. This makes it even harder to find the good stuff. I really feel for the staff although sometimes they can be a little rude. Anyone would be a little ticked off having to deal with other people's children day in and day out. Even with all of these problems, this place still gets my vote. It doesn't really matter what you are looking for, you will find it here and it will be cheaper than any other store, whether it is a chopping board or an Iphone cover and on occasion you get a really helpful sales person. It's definitely worth a trip or two. read more

Pauline the Manager was very rude. They class at 9:30pm and basically was kicked out by her. I was helping my aunt decide between two shirts when she came up to us forcing us to go pay. I couldn't even finish deciding because she would keep pressuring us to go to the cash registers. Hope they hire someone else, poor customer service :( read more
