Parking is horrible because of the new restaurant next store and the Dollar Tree is doing nothing about it. I'd rather go to another.

This is my favorite store, good service and they often times have everything I need. You have to know the best items to shop for the shelves to be fully stock. I always feel at peace and calm when I shop here. They are good at keeping the lines down most of the workers are nice and the store is clean. read more

This Dollar Tree is really nice! It's located in the same plaza as Home Depot and Lucky so there is plenty of parking. Store is clean and brightly lit. I was able to find my arm extender grabber thing from here which I use to retrieve my cat's toys from under the couch. I had looked in a different Dollar Tree earlier and couldn't find it so I was happy I found it here. Dollar Tree has also upped its game of crafts supplies. They have things like thin wire and googley eyes and even craft knives now. read more

It's become a 2 star experience but I'll give it three because of the polite, kindly and industrious white-haired lady cashier who has been there for many years. She is normal and interactions with her are pleasant and stress-free. Some of the young male cashiers here refuse to help bag the items. I put all my empty bags on the counter for both of us to access but they won't lift a finger. They forget that I am not on the clock; they are. I am volunteering my labor to bag. Fine, I'm happy to help. But for them to stand there after all items have been scanned and defiantly refuse to help bag items slows down the waiting line behind me and is generally a 'fail' in customer service. It isn't like it would cost them anything to do it. The latest development at this store is for some of the guys (not the woman mentioned earlier) to ask 'if' you want the receipt; not to give it automatically. Additionally, one of the guys (who wears no name tag) won't even tear the receipt off the register and hand it to you. He'll stare at you and make you tear it off. Lots of tension in the air. This is a new low in retail. Jobs are plentiful at the moment. People who probably wouldn't ordinarily get hired have jobs. But during downturns in the economy, people in retail who think it isn't their job to greet, bag, or say anything as the customer leaves the register (does anybody remember 'thank you'? ) will be the first to be let go. If some of the guys hate their jobs that much, we customers would be glad if they quit. read more

I love Mariah, and, all staff here. They don't have a refrigerated section ( but for some reason no matter how rude other customers are about anything in the store the staff are always super-duper cool!) If you go in the morning there's no line! But even if there is a line, they do a really great job at helping people out one by one and making sure their social distance stuff happens --and, making sure everyone stays calm and happy :-) we need that during these covid 19 days, right!?! After years of being a customer at the Belmont location, I was extremely disappointed in the way a Latino male employee treated the customers. He belittled and disrespected an elderly woman and berated me. The store ran out of bags and she purchased many items. Not once did anyone say they were out of bags. The elderly lady said "how am I suppose to carry all the items out since we can't take carts out. The male employee replied "that's not my problem, you figure it out." He told the other employees, "and don't get her a box, we are busy and don't have time for that." I could not believe what I was hearing. I started to take the items off the belt and put them back in cart. I told him It wasn't nice to speak to customers like that. He then responded by calling me "a crazy lady," and said "I t's not Safeway it's a dollar tree what do you expect?" I replied, "We are paying customers and his response was "lady get the F*** out of here," and continued to use profanity. This made me feel uncomfortable and unsafe. He then yelled out aloud for everyone to hear, "she is crazy - f***off lady!" I told him I would complain he said, "I don't give a F***." He refused to give me his name. Other employees also refused to give me his name. Finally, another employee said his name is Erik, but they did not know his last name. They said he was assistant manager. I have attempted to call to speak to a manager and finally got someone on the phone and said she would have a manager call me in 30 minutes. I have yet to receive a call. I cannot believe the level of customer service that was provided. Not to mention the hostile unsafe environment. I felt harassed by this male employee and a young female employee who thought it was funny. I went into the store in San Carlos 12-1230 today and this is what happened. I was first in line to pay in a single line of customers when Patricia, the employee came out nowhere and asked me to returned back into the line. I was baffled and I asked if she was serious! She could have checked the camera footage, the people who were behind me and ask the cashier before trying to remove me from the line! You think the people behind me would allow that when the line was 10+ people. What is her motive? Those who were behind me nodded their heads and one even said that I can stand in front of him. However, Patricia kept on insisting so she spoke in Spanish to the lady immediately behind me to verify the truth. Luckily, she told Patricia that I was in "linea" for "cinco minutos" so that should be the end of it. No, Patricia refuse to admit her mistake and not to offer a genuine apology. She said I need to respect her and she was actually being nice. Who needs "nice" when you're rude to your customer. I'm actually quite surprised that this place has such poor reviews. Whenever I come here I always find something. Today I stopped by randomly and picked up some shipping supplies, which I had absolutely no idea they sold here. Cant beat this place for cheap household items - crest toothpaste, colgate toothbrush, scotch tape. Gotta be cautious on certain items though - the paper towels are crappy, and wife does not like the facial tissue. Also, don't go crazy or else you walk out with a $40 ticket. who knew i could actually get certain household & personal products at the dollar tree store? i've been going to dollar deal in rwc for years, but sometimes, they don't always have what i want/need, so i decided to try dollar tree, upon the recommendation of a friend. this store is a bit bigger than dollar deal, and therefore carries more merchandise. i had to weave in and out of the aisles a bit, but eventually found the items i was looking for, and lo and behold, each was $1! i grabbed my items, went to check out and headed out. i almost forgot my reusable shopping bag, so i had to run back to my car and get it, since i didn't want to pay 10 cents for the plastic bag, but the cashier was really nice about it. extra points for customer service! the parking lot is not that big, i actually had to wait a few moments for another customer to leave before i could park, but in general, i don't see this as an issue since there weren't that many customers inside when i went. convenient located in belmont, near 101 & ralston. read more

I can find party goods at a reasonable price. (Guess how much!) They have some US- and Canada-made soaps and cleaning supplies. I can find gift bags and wrap on the cheap. I can get a broom for a dollar. I can get a soda for a dollar! The cashiers are pretty nice, and (for a dollar store) it's kept fairly neat. Sure, it's packed with stuff, but it's fairly well organized, and decently lit. The only pain is the location. It's hard to get in and out of the lot, as it's right on El Camino and you have to pull a u-turn at some point, unless you're heading south and then decide to continue heading south when you're done. read more

Came here on a Saturday night to look for water bottles for a cheerleading team I coach. I needed 28 but only found 20 on the shelf. While checking out the cashier made a joke and said he had more if I wanted them. I explained my situation and he asked if I had 5 minutes to spare. I said yes. This man walked outside (mind you it's 10 minutes before the store closed) and went to find a couple boxes and I see if thy had the color I needed. Sure enough they did. Worst customer service I can remember at any dollar tree or store full stop. Was served by the manager (south Asian woman in her early thirties). You could tell immediately she had a bad attitude. Was very short without being too obvious at first. I asked for some items and when I made an innocent mistake, I received a tirade of backchat about how I was confused and should I have been more specific from the beginning. Keeping in mind that throughout this process I was cordial, friendly and respectful, the experience was atrocious. Eventually I told her that I was having a bad customer experience from her. This just made things much worse. She could not stop herself from giving me backchat. I asked to speak to the manager but was told they were not in. Obviously I'm going to raise a complaint with the manager and raise it with head office. What was wrong with this person to treat a paying customer so badly. Avoid this store folks. Go to the one in San Carlos or Redwood City instead. read more

Our favorite dollar store around. Best place for cheap toothpaste and honey! We frequent here about once a week. No issues and have always had good customer service and fairly quick moving lines. I was in trouble, it was my son's birthday and he had popped his mylar Pikachu balloon and there were tears, tears and more tears. I went to the Dollar Tree because I was buying another 21 balloons for decorations and asked if they could shoot some helium into my patched Pokemon. The very helpful cash register attendant said "you've got to ask the manager", so I knocked on his closed door in the corner. I tried not to judge the book by the cover as he walked out in a t-shirt, cargo shorts and sneakers, I assumed it must be the owner's son, because he didn't look ready to manage anything or present to a customer, and it seemed like I had interrupted his internet session or something so I tried to appeal to his humanity. I told him I was buying 21 balloons and happy to buy their most expensive mylar if instead I could fill up my yellow Pikachu. "It's against store policy to fill outside balloons." I pointed to my sad son you could see in my front seat. "It's against store policy to fill outside balloons." I asked how many balloons I would need to buy to get some helium love. Since empathy/humanity clearly wasn't going to work, I again pointed at my care and said "see the ad for kids party planning on the side of my car? This is one of the better Peninsula dollar trees. They are bigger than San carlos and have longer hours. Very friendly employees that help you find everything you need!! FANTASTIC ASSORTMENT of odds and ends. I buy school supplies here for my classroom. Great selection, clean store, usually fully stocked shelves. Go here! What you CAN expect is to pay $1 for each item in the store. No joke.
