This Marshalls in Franklin Village looks like it's on its final breath--honestly, I've seen going-out-of-business sales that looked better organized than this mess. Marshalls stores are notoriously chaotic, but this location takes the cake for being a complete disaster zone. Shelves are bare in spots and overloaded in others, racks are crammed with wrinkled, mismatched clothing, and items are strewn across the floor like a tornado just passed through. The store layout feels like an afterthought, with no sense of order or upkeep, and the entire place has an abandoned, depressing vibe that screams retail death spiral. To make matters worse, the staff seemed equally disinterested--more like they were counting down the minutes to closing time rather than assisting customers or maintaining even the bare minimum of tidiness. This place feels like a liquidation sale waiting to be announced, and at this rate, it might be doing everyone a favor. Skip it--there are better-managed Marshalls elsewhere, or better yet, shop literally anywhere else. read more

They replenish inventory so frequently that many times, the offerings are a new experience with every shopping trip. I love walking around the home section and grab some nice deals to enhance the condo. Marshall's was founded in 1956 in Massachusetts and they have grown to be a large national chain of discount stores. By 1993, Marshalls had expanded throughout 42 states including Hawaii, and had opened several downtown locations. An employee was very rude to us while we were walking towards the back of the store telling jokes to eachother and laughing. They told us they were going to kick us out. We immediately left since we didn't feel welcome. read more

The only person there who actually had a personality was the cool, tall guy sweeping the floors. I wanted a product with missing items and damaged packaging because it was the only one left. I asked the person at the register if there was any more, and they said no. They told me that they were probably going to end up throwing the damaged item away. I then asked if I could still have the item, as I really wanted it. They then asked another employee and she took around 8 minutes to put a pricetag on the item for $4 when the other worker had already stated that they were just going to end up throwing it away. AWFUL customer service, and only 2 out of 8 registers open. Would not come again. read more

I almost always leave this Marshall's with something in hand. Recently went for a yoga mat and found a really nice high quality one, very thick, comfortable, biodegradable, and free of questionable chemicals (always a plus!). I also got a face towel for yoga as well as a yoga mat back carrier which has a zippered pocket to put keys, cell phone, or something small in. I like to go here around Christmas time because I always find great, affordable stocking stuffers. I also like their beauty section because every once in a while I can find organic and chemical free skin products / make up / and/or hair care. I wish they had a better selection of purses like the ones that are in the Sudbury TJ Maxx. I know, 2 different stores, but they are both TJX companies along with Homegoods. Decent enough Marshalls in a complex with several other stores. Very convenient, not far from 495. It's smaller than most other stores in the area, parking lot has a couple obnoxious speed bumps and the other stores in the complex including some random bird store don't make me psyched to walk around much. It's got all your typical Marshalls things. The main thing that turned me off here is that I went in the AM thinking it would not be crowded but there was a huge staff meeting on the floor near the dressing room and shoe section with lots of employees clustered together. While the employees were all wearing masks, having such a large group assembled there kind of detracted from allowing me to freely browse the shoes and bags while maintaining social distance. Couldn't they do those meetings in an employees only area? Maybe the empty dressing rooms? I'd recommend the much larger, spacious TJ Maxx Homegoods in the area instead if you're looking to get your TJX shop on. read more

While heading down Route 140 in Franklin, I discovered this ginormous shopping center right by the I-495 split a few years ago. While it has so, so many stores ranging from national clothing stores to little independent shops, Marshalls continues to be the true "department store" of the complex, and the second largest retailer under Stop&Shop. (Exit 17 off 495, if you were wondering) While this isn't the largest Marshalls I've been to, it's the only one anywhere around the area, and has been recently remodeled. While there is always a decent amount of foot traffic, it's never overwhelmingly busy. Checkout is always a quick process (something that cannot be said about other Marshalls / TJ Maxx locations...), and the staff are always super friendly. Fitting rooms always have good upkeep and the store in general has a different selection than other stores. With any Marshalls, surprises are always expected, but here more than other places, they have more. For instance, they actually had a full wall of men's summer shoes (sandals/slides/flip flops), last year, while Marshalls in Canton didn't. They have a large home section and the clearance aisle is always overflowing with great stuff and even better prices. My only suggestion for those who shop the clearance aisle is to double, and even, triple check anything you're considering purchasing from that aisle. For some reason, a lot of the merchandise on clearance here is damaged, scraped, or just isn't complete. I prefer when clearance is just more of a variety of discontinued stuff or from a past season, not things that don't look as they should (and sometimes they are very tough to notice!). Overall though, I think this is a great place to shop in the area for clothing, home stuff and even pet supplies. There are no big department stores in or near Franklin, so Marshalls is the best bet if you're looking for something in a jiffy! 5 stars for Marshalls in Franklin. read more
