For a grocery store bakery, I've been impressed with the doughnuts at my local Meijer (although the selection is sadly wildly inconsistent). I was immediately drawn to this doughnut by the patriotic coloring of the icing drizzled on it. The blue and red look fantastic, but the white drizzle is superfluous with all the white icing already covering the doughnut. I found the dough to have a nice thick and chewy texture while also being light and pillowy. The flavor was a combination of butter in the body of the dough, along with vanilla from the icing. Unlike some chains (Dunkin), the layer of icing was thick and satisfying and that's before factoring in the extra drizzle. Give me liberty or give me doughnuts! I also had a strange moment when I checked a box of shoes I wanted to buy and found someone had stolen the new pair and left old shoes in the box. Besides that, everything else went smoothly. It turns out they were upset because target closed their DEI department. Inside was a clean bright store, I only went to food, alcohol and pet supplies, but everything was well laid out in orderly. There were hardly any other customers, so it was really easy to check out the old-fashioned way with the cashier instead of self Service. A lot of the food items in there limited but broad grocery section. We're a little higher end, and cost a little more, but overall a very pleasant shopping experience.

I am a frequent shopper at this location and visit almost every weekend. Even when I don't…read morenecessarily need anything, I enjoy stopping in to browse. However, over the last few months, I've overheard several shoppers discussing the aggressive behavior of the security guard on duty -- and I've now witnessed it myself. I've seen him stare customers up and down as if they're doing something wrong, and I've watched him follow people around the store. Today, I saw him approach a teenage couple in the makeup aisle and say, "You two are in here a lot." When they agreed, he continued, "I feel like I see you in here almost every day, but I never see you buy anything. Why is that?" The teens calmly explained that while they have bought items before, they don't purchase something every visit. I understand that security staff have a job to do, but at this point his behavior comes across as harassment, especially toward teenagers. This creates an uncomfortable and unwelcoming shopping environment.

It's helpful to look at the purses in person because I was SO close to purchasing a name brand online but when I looked in person, I keep forgetting how heavy they are! I liked the brand Thatcher. The location was simple to get in and out of, with plenty of parking available, which made things stress-free right from the start. Inside, the store was well organized, making it easy to find everything we needed without wandering around too much. We were able to grab all our items quickly and efficiently with no issues at all. Customer service was smooth and uneventful (in a good way) everything just flowed. Checkout was just as seamless. The lines weren't long, and we didn't have to wait much at all, so we were in and out pretty quickly. This was a quick, hassle-free shopping experience, exactly what you want when you're on the go.

We pressed the help button and waited there for 10 minutes - no one came. I figured I would just return them to another store later. Finally made it up and it only took about 5 minutes since they were online returns and they just had to scan the barcodes and take the items. We shopped the grocery section of the store - it was not very well stocked. Most of the items we wanted were not available. Not a bad thing though, we didn't spend as much as we normally would. We made it up to the checkout and went to a cashier - that was a huge mistake (I should have done self checkout). The lady that checked us out should not be a cashier. She double scanned almost everything and we had to tell to her void the double scanned items. She threw glass jars into empty bags - and heavy items on top of eggs and bread - luckily nothing broke or got smooshed too bad. Of course, I missed one of the double scanned items - so, back to customer service I had to go for a refund... UGH! Don't make the same mistake as me -- stay away from this store!

As I Googled places selling Detroit merchandise near my family home, I found Three Thirteen, filled with really cool stuff including Three Thirteen t-shirts, socks with known streets in the city, baseball jackets with high schools listed and more. The gentleman who operated the store was wonderful, helping me find the appropriate sizes and offering great customer service. I will be returning.
