Super cute clothing all color coordinated and organized nicely. They always have a sale rack in the back and a rack with damaged goods. All of their clothing updates with the new trends. For example, there is a lot of fall colors and styles in right now. They are always getting something new and different. I admit that some of their clothing is a bit overpriced though, especially for the quality. The biggest concern is the quality of the clothing. It rips and tears easily. They used to have 2 huge bins filled with damaged clothing for a marked down price. That alone shows you that their items rip easily. Most of the buttons become loose or fall off and dissapear. The other biggest concern is that their zippers get damaged a lot or you can find rips in clothing. My sister buys stuff for pictures or vacation, and usually only gets a few wears out of something. My advice for them would be to get better quality for material, or not charge as much. Also they do not give any cash refunds, they only do exchanges and store credit. read more

PLEASE READ!!!!!! IF YOU SHOP HERE OR PLAN ON IT DO NOT, Falsely accused of stealing To begin, I've been a loyal customer to this store and have shopped here for several years. I've always known the clothes are cheap and overpriced, but it is a convenient place for me to get clothing last minute. I had bought 3 dresses for my upcoming trip, and then decided not to wear them. I went to the store to return them for store credit, and I shopped around for about 20 minutes and tried on clothes and everything seemed perfectly normal as usual. I ended up getting a jacket that was about $60 dollars, meaning I would still have some store credit left over from the three dresses I returned. Nick, without saying anything at all, cashed me out like normal. When I received my receipt, I asked where I can check the balance for my remaining store credit and he told me it should say on the receipt. My receipt read that I owed $7 and there were two charges on there for two items I did not recognize. I looked at my receipt confused while my friend cashed out and then I asked about the charges on the receipt. Nick then said "oh those are the charges from when you stole for us last time you were here." I was in COMPLETE shock, embarrassment as he called me out infront of other shoppers, and extreme confusion as I have NEVER once stolen before. He pulled out tags that had "apparently" been ripped off in the fitting room that I used and told me that there was camera footage of me bringing items into the dressing room and them not coming out. Extremely confused knowing I would NEVER steal, I started to think back to the day that I bought the dresses. I was there after school so I had my backpack with me. While I was shopping, the workers took my backpack and put it behind the counter since it was heavy. The workers always count how many items you take into the fitting room and I always bring them out with me and hand them to the workers. After I tried on dresses, Nick recommended a navy blue dress in the same dress I tried on in black and I thought it was really cute. Since I already tried on the dress in black, I proceeded to buy both without trying the navy one on. One of the things he accused me of stealing was the navy blue dress in which I had there to return, claiming it was a different navy dress he recommended. Obviously still agitated and confused, I asked to see this "camera footage" he was talking about. After 10 minutes of him looking for this "camera footage" he pulled up a video of HIM standing in the store and the camera turning to black. There was no "footage" of me walking into the dressing room and not coming out with the items I tried on. There was no footage of me at all, so he lied to me and embarrassed me infront of the store with NOTHING. I told him that this is ridiculous being falsely accused of STEALING at a store with no proof besides two tags in the fitting room that may have been left by someone at an earlier time that was not noticed, and he told me that he would just give me my refund if I would stop being so aggressive. Aggressive??? Me standing up for myself in a situation I've been falsely accused of stealing infront of multiple people is me being aggressive. Also it was extremely weird and unprofessional of him to add these charges to my account and me finding out on my receipt on my own instead of taking to me when I first walked into the store like any normal "manager" would if they thought someone had stolen previously. After reading the reviews, I am not the first person he or his coworkers have accused of stealing. If I had "stolen" multiple items as I was accused while my backpack was behind the counter, where would I put these items? Would he not have seen one of these multiple items while he cashed me out buying THREE dresses spending $150 dollars at the store. Absolutely INSANE, embarrassing and disgusting situation. The workers here are absolutely terrible, rude, and unprofessional. The overpriced clothing you can order the same items from SHEIN or Amazon for half the price is NOT WORTH IT!!!!!! read more

Reasonably priced but low quality clothing items. Great for younger buyers or fast to fashion buyers. Lots of accessories, jeans and whatever ensemble needed. I do like that they organize clothing items by colors or complements of colors though. Still happy this is and has been downtown for a while and and their price point they will hopefully stay for long while. I have never been able to find anything I felt was worthy of my purchase however. Leave it for the younger ladies then. read more

I've been here many times pre-pandemic. I came in today because I have four weddings in the next three weeks -- and I needed dresses! They for some reason are still trying to force people to wear masks. I, like many others, have a medical exemption and I cannot wear one. They told me I couldn't shop there. It's honestly so disheartening to see stores and their employees discriminate against people with disabilities. Shame on you guys. It's also surprising that any small business is turning customers away during these times. I went two blocks over and bought two dresses! Their loss is another's gain I suppose. read more

I love little clothing shops. Probably the best thing located in Royal Oak downtown besides all the food. I was so happy to find this place. Everything is very affordable and the staff is very nice. Whenever I want a cute outfit and I don't want to go too far from home Pitaya is my go to store. The clothes are well organized by color, they have a good sales rack and pretty much everything in the store is under $50. It's only womens clothes and they have everything from causal to dressy. They also have a small selection of shoes and accessories. About the bag policy, in my experience they only make you leave the bag at the counter if you are going into a dressing room. read more

Cute boutique in Royal Oak. I love that they categorize their clothes by colors. It's similar to Akira in Chicago. They have great sales and fun, cheap jewelry. You have to leave your purse at the counter (or with a friend that's outside the dressing room) when you go try clothes on. read more

This is a good store for the big boobied girls (don't worry, I'm sure you skinny girls can find clothes here too). The clothes actually fit AND flatter me. So many of their shirts are made from a comfortable cotton jersey knit. The dress looks fancy -- but it's super comfortable. It almost feels like you are cheating! The staff here is hit or miss, some are really cheery/helpful, others just give you the look of death (too much retail hell for them I guess). read more

Cute clothes & nice staff, the purse/bag policy is a little irritating if you don't have someone like a husband or friend with you to hold your purse, I wouldn't ever want to leave it behind the counter when trying on clothes. But as for the clothing, it is extremely affordable. I buy bits and pieces from here but the clothing and shoes are very inexpensive so I don't jeans or anything of importance from here, but the tops and sun dresses I love and do buy them. read more

I definitely agree with Cherice about the clothes reminding you of a "Forever 21 style." Pitaya is a good place to get basics for an inexpensive price, but it also looks like a basic you purchased for an inexpensive price... so shop wise just to make sure you're not going to end up looking like "jenny from the block." What I love about Pitaya is their accessories. They have a lot of great bangles and sunglasses that are super cheap, but don't look it. Much more reasonably priced than Urban jewelry which is pricey for the quality you're getting. I have never had a problem with the sales staff, but I wouldn't say they have been overly friendly at any point either. insider tip: definitely check out their sale racks-- you can find some good pieces that could add the finishing touch to an outfit. read more

That aint happened as of yet and I was NOT going to miss out on Pitaya again last Saturday for the hopes of "catching a cutie". On to the review! The best word to describe Pitaya would be "pieces". And every fashionista knows that "pieces" not outfits make a wardrobe. The store is designed/organized by color. Reds, pinks, whites, blues, greens, etc. can all be found within the same section no matter what you are looking for; which makes shopping convenient. Now these are not expensive couture pieces; so some of the pieces can look "cheap" on the hanger. But I encourage all would be "dimes" to try on the clothes. They have a great selection of sundresses, rompers, tops, slacks and shorts. The accessories are cute as well. Nothing I haven't seen before but always reasonably priced. The reason why I'm drawn to this store is because it represents the one thing I can't live without - being "cute". Being "cute" doesn't cost a lot. Being "cute" doesn't require hours of preparation. Being "cute" simply means that you can rock anything and still be, well, "cute". Pitaya has so many pieces that you can take and make your own that you would have to be "fashionably challenged" not to be able to find something. The service has always been pretty good. I absolutely love this little boutique in downtown Royal Oak. I had no idea there were other locations until I googled to see if it has a website. Apparently there are a few Pitaya's spread out across the country, but this place still feels like one of a kind. Whatever your style is, Pitaya has something for you. The clothes there are stylish and unique, the prices are low, and the quality is just okay. But your money is certainly well spent with most items you can buy. My biggest fault with this place is that some of the clothes (particularly shirts) I have gotten from there didn't last nearly as long as I would have liked. But considering I'm talking about sweaters for like $10 (oh how I love sales!), even wearing them just a few times pays off. And while the most of the clothes don't have a long lifespan, there are several purchases I've made in the last few years that are still going strong. read more

I always stop and look at their window display whenever I walk around Royal Oak. It looks cute, trendy and fashionable. It makes me think that the owner has a good sense of style. BUT, after trying on their clothes and looking around the store several times, I know that it is very unlikely to make a purchase here. This store is excellent for really trendy pieces, vs. classic ones you'd want to keep for a while. Not high-quality, but good enough that I'd still buy them. It's definitely aimed toward a younger crowd, so most of the clothes they carry run a bit small (I'm a size 10 and the large *usually* fits). That said, I'm curvier, and these clothes actually seem to fit me well! For that reason, too, the clothes tend to be better for weekend occasions, vs. a work-appropriate outfit. Fortunately for me, I am always in need of weekend wear. I don't know if I'd go out of my way, but it's worth a stop if you're in town! read more

A pretty cool spot to find something cute for your trendy stylish girl. They seems to run sales often and they have a lot of great merch, if you're looking for a gift, but I can't comment on quality. Great little boutique. My teenage daughter and I went it this weekend for some items for an upcoming vacation and she was not disappointed. Me and my friends recently were here and we were trying on clothes for summer and planning on buying some, 15 minutes in we were still trying on clothes giving each other options and I was just finishing up an outfit asking my friend to go get another size because it was too large for me. One of the workers walked up to my friend and said to her "We are getting very busy and we need you guys to wrap up this dress up game." keep in mind there was only 6 people including us 3 in the store, the worker would not let us try on anything else practically kicking us out. This store usually has very kind people but today the staff were not the best, we are not that upset about this but it made us feel like we were being treated as 5 year olds. I was excited when I first found this store. Then I was reminded why I shouldn't buy cheap clothes. The clothes are poorly made and might get you through a few wears but the way I see it, it's not worth my money if it doesn't last. Why buy a cheap dress two times when you can buy one that doesn't fall apart after a few wears? In addition, I found the staff as really unprofessional. All they did was complain to each other about their boy problems while I waited for them to just to stop babbling for long enough to get me a dressing room. If you are looking for cute stylish clothes you need to go here. The store is always up to date of the latest fashion. I have been going to this store for over 5 years and it is always so well organized and easy to navigate. My one complaint is that their clothes isn't made to last. You can get about 10 wears out of them before they fall apart. The good news is the prices aren't too bad for the quality and they are always having sales. read more

This Pitaya is one of the nicer little shops to stop into if you're ever downtown. This location is like the Ann Arbor one but I feel the selection is a little better here. Definitely a favorite spot to go to when your looking for cute date clothes. I stopped in there today and saw tons of things I wanted to buy. The clothes remind you of a Forever 21 style, they even had a few of the same jackets, but the clothes just seemed better quality (maybe, maybe not). I actually just bought some funky sunglasses for $8 to add to my collection. If I wasn't on a window shopping budget I would have picked up some cute flats too...which were under 30 bucks. There is not too many spots like this in Detroit, so I try to make it out to Royal Oak periodically.
