This place is a miserable experience! It feels as though you're on an old school used car lot, being followed and hounded, completely pressured to buy. I don't know where management has learned customer service but it was a turn off. Especially when you are able to get the same merchandise elsewhere. The customer service was not elevated to the standard I thought it would be. For a luxury store, you would expect the interior to be contemporary and a reflection of the times, but much of the inside is outdated and stuck in a late 2010s Time Machine of irrelevance. Currently, I live in New York and work as a buyer for a litany of high end department stores, and luxury boutiques, and the way I was spoken down to was quite ghastly. The only real emerging designers that Tender carries are Puppets & Puppets, Simone Rocha, Dries Van Noten, and Marni; but they hardly carried anything that was of note from any of the designers. What the owners had picked out from the most recent collections were underwhelming, and demode. Shop here if you want to scream to the world that you suffer from a tactless case of incurable nouveau riche taste. I suggest the owners should try to visit authentic luxury boutiques in real metropolitan cities to learn true sartorial quiet luxury sensibility. read more

If you want to stand out from the crowd in a sophisticated, classy and unique way then this is the store for you. These clothes cannot be found easily elsewhere, if at all! I went there from California where we have numerous high fashion stores but none to compare to the gorgeous finds here. The staff is attentive and listens closely to your needs and styling desires. This place is hilarious. I don't recommend walking in with sweats on. A lot of salespeople with no customers giving you the once-over. Which is SO fun. Am sure if they'd seen the black Amex burning a hole in my pocket, their attitude might have adjusted a teensy bit. Would love to have my Pretty Woman moment here. In a time where retailers are struggling, there should be that much more energy put into GREAT customer service. Community is so important as most of you know I'm a huge supporter of collaborating and supporting one another! Today I wanted to take my friend to Birmingham and give him a fun little tour of a few of my favorite places! Unfortunately, this store made us feel like we were stealing the entire time and as we walked down stairs the owner of this shop followed us- asked us some personal questions then kicked us out. In all our years of retail shopping we've never been kicked out of a store for purely just walking around and shopping!! Im posting this only to share that customers should never feel that way while shopping and should truly feel valued. Even if they're just window shopping! I have never felt more uncomfortable than I did this afternoon. They sized me up and down and then proceeded to tell me there was nothing in the store that would suit my needs. Let me give a word to the wise. I bought a pair of BEAUTIFUL shoes here 5 years ago for a wedding that I was attending. I bought them during the sale and was so excited to find the perfect shoe for the occasion. I wore them once. They tore at a stress point and I returned them to have them say that I must have been at fault, (hmmm, let's see, I wore them once) and they could only give me a store credit. At this point I was so upset that I couldn't ever see myself stepping foot in the store again. I went back to use the $150.00 credit(remember, they were"sale" shoes) and I have never returned. Lanvin, Miu Miu, Valentino... Sounds great! Too bad the shoes Tender stocks from these designers fall into the usual Michigan category of conservative. Maybe we define conservative differently- I tend to lean towards Alexander McQueen, Christian Louboutin, Charlotte Olympia... This store has beautiful items, but all could be worn by a mom type, or not so sexy secretary. While I will always stop by, I will probably never buy. Ok, maybe I will replace my Alexander Wang Rocco bag here, but no shoes!That's me, another fashionista may differ in opinion. A fabulous high end fashion boutique that is great for window shopping. There are two stores right next to each other. One has clothing and the other has shoes and handbags. I prefer the latter. You will find unique clothes, bags, shoes that are not found at the mall - Pauric Sweeney, Lanvin, Valentino, Miu Miu, Peter Som, Derek Lam, Nina Ricci, Jimmy Choo, Graeme Black, Rocco P, Paul Smith, Bella Bella and many more. The secret is the sales. It is at times, possible to buy these designers items at half to seventy-five percent off. read more

Tender is the Platonic ideal of a women's high-end boutique. The lines carried are not mainstream and the pieces offered definitely have attitude. One of my favorite suits of all time is by Paul Smith and its fabric has images of makeup compacts (discernible only close up) It is simultaneously divine and subversive. Here I was introduced to the amazing designs of Hindmarch, Thakoon and Schumaker, whose designs I continue scoop up whenever I find them. Thanks to Tender, I have an entire closet of shoes by Choo, Miu-Miu, Hindmarch, Blahnik and Valentino, many of which were acquired during Tender's fabulous twice-yearly sales. The sales associates are extraordinarily helpful. They provide honest assessments of whether garments are optimal and are more than happy to dart around the store to find more suitable alternatives. I agree with Nicolette's characterization of the store as the Rodeo Drive of Birmingham. read more

Beware this store! I saw a skirt in a magazine, and this store carried it. I gave them my credit card and asked that they ship it to me. They charged me 25 dollars for shipping. The skirt didnt fit so I returned it. The shipping, with insurance, cost only 10 dollars and 45 cents. I called back and asked why did they charge me more than twice the cost of the shipping? The salesperson said "its our fee" I would never do business with this store. read more

A girl can dream can't she? I go downtown Birmingham only for window-shopping expeditions, and Tender is one of those places where I linger just a bit longer. Jimmy Choo, Miu Miu, Zac Posen and Valentino are just a few of the designers here that I can't afford, but love to try on.
