Just like any of your other Marshalls, it's a hit &! miss every time you come to one of these stores they don't usually have the same stuff all the time they switch it up and whatever they get in inventory people kind of snatch up the good stuff fast but for the price you can't beat it. This particular store be killin' the other strays. This Marshalls has a ton of great priced goods even if you peruse and choose through its building's blueprints starting inwards! ; Just one of the many cool places inside of Gateway Towne Center's own damn universe. Okay okay okay I'll stop! But seriously ... I've been to many other Marshalls around the world and this one is very very spacious with more varieties of products not seen in other ones. The strip mall has a TON of parking WITH security in golf carts running around just in case out of town era watch too many hood movies and think they're about to negatively and stereotypically get robbed or shot. Oh Marshalls. You continually do right by me every time I step foot in your Compton location. I know in the past I've put your sis TJ Maxx and cousin Homegoods before you and I apologize for that. This location is clean, fully stocked and organized with friendly, helpful employees. I always prowl the beauty section and find Black hair brands that are discounted and often unavailable in certain stores. I buy my Clinique & Simple skincare brands here as well for a great price. I then steer my cart over to housewares, clearance candles, men's tees (I crop & bleach them), women's', you get my drift. I Imagine that every shopper has their own dedicated route when cruising the aisles. Then of course, once you're approaching the register aka finish line they distract & further lure you with small goods and cute knickknacks that one can't resist. Every purchase is well worth it and I never suffer from buyer's remorse. Man, I love this location. read more

Marshall's have come to Compton!! I am so excited this store is here. I shop at Marshall's at least twice a month and finally there is one in my "backyard ". As walked in the store I could smell the new. They opened 5/15/14. There was a good selection of clothing, housewares, accessories and my fav SHOES! The store was bright and clean. And the long register line moved fast. In addition to this gem there is a Ross, Target, TGIF, Chipotle, Starbucks, Subway and Party City. If a grocery store was added this shopping center would be complete. Overall, coming here is well worth it!!! read more

This is normally one of the better organized and well stocked Marshall's. The store is clean and has good customer service. There's plenty of parking as well. Don't go during the holidays. People destroy the store and stock is obviously limited. read more

This a really nice location. I was blown away by the organization in this location. I've been to many Marshall's amd Ross and I do prefer Marshall's overall . Many the stores tho aren't kept up really well,clothes hung all over,linens tossed thru the aisle stuff out of place ect. Now I get the feeling this a newer spot just cuz how bright and clean it is. I've been here multiple times. But this last time really made me upset. This is why they are losing a star. I saw an orly polish I really liked. It was 2.99 so I decided to buy it. Along with other items. When I get to the checkout. The lady ringing me up looks at the price on the bottle, then says 'I know these are more expensive, then proceeds to go back to the nail section to check the price'. As if I peeled off a sticker and put it on the polish I wanted. I was furious about that. I just stared at her. Then when she comes back she says 'i guess it is this price' and almost cursed her out. I thought that was so rude. Other than this one time, everything has been nice and clean. I always get my coconut oil and dog toys from them. read more

This location is simply a breath of fresh air. I once had to drive a ways out of the area for certain items but I am glad to have them n the neighborhood. Grant it, it is the first day but considering how hectic it was in the store, everyone was friendly, helpful and happy to be there. That is something I expect no matter where I shop. This store has a little of everything. They have a decent home good section with great prices. Most of the associates here are actually helpful a few others just seem irritated to have to be at work. Nice shoe selection, some items I believe are a little over priced. Store was neatly organized and things were in there place. Decent size location and parking readily available. I was in the store around 3 pm and when checking out to make my purchase, I came upon a very rude check out service worker by the name of Paulina. She had a serious attitude and obviously did not like her job. Her job should entail the need for immaculate customer service and she was lacking that with the way she talked to me and failed to help me. She was uncouth!! I was purchasing football cleats for my son for practice over the summer. I asked a simple question "Can these be discounted more since 9 of the cleats studs are missing? She looked at the tag and stated with an attitude "They been discounted already 3 times, these were originally $40. I said that is not what I asked and I requested to speak with a manager. Instead of bringing a manager to speak to me, she did a side bar with a short black lady with her hair pulled back in a pony tail. She came back and said no the price was the amount on the tag because it had been discounted 3 times. The so called manager should have come to directly tell me this, because I asked to speak to a manager. I then asked if she could have someone check in the back to see if there were cleat studs. She called someone one on the phone and asked "Are there any shoes in the back? She got off the line and stated we have no shoes in the back. That was just ignorant! I stated "That is not what I asked". I tried to explain that most stores have a lost and found for missing items from merchandise in the store. She did not make a call back to ask my precise question, she just stated, no we don't have that in a very rude tone. I will never patronize the Marshall's in Compton again due to the incompetent, terrible customer service I had today with Paulina and her so called manager. You should find people with outstanding attitudes and excellent customer service to work your cash registers. Paulina needs customer service training to learn how to listen to the question that is being asked and also how to treat paying customers. Also, non professional so called managers need training as well. A professional manager would have come directly to a customer to explain instead of sending back a rude clerk to bring the answer! read more

I would not recommend trying to buy something and then return it at this Marshalls. I am not an avid shopper at Marshalls and this had to be my first bad experience. I came in the store on a Thursday evening and purchased a tie and some dress pants that were tagged at $24.99. I was literally in the store for only about 15 minutes and left. I came back the next day to return the dress pants since my boyfriend did not want them. I walked up to the counter with my receipt and tag attached and the cashier stated that the price tag on the item was incorrect. I was surprised, as I just purchased the pants and the cashier who initially rang me up did not catch the mistake. I explained to her that the tag on the dress pants is the same ticket number that is on my receipt that I just purchased less than 24 hours ago. She called her rude and ghetto assistant manager to the counter (Denise), and she stated that she could not return the item because the ticket on the dress pants was for a different item. I was shocked as that apparently is a store mistake and not something that I would do. I continued to explain the situation to her and told her how confused I was that she would turn away my return due to a mistake that was made in-store. She had another associate bring the same pair of dress pants up to the counter which were ticketed at $19.99. She said the correct price is $19.99 and that I would have to bring back the right price tag in order for her to make the return. I WAS LIVID!!!! I told her that she was insinuating that I switched the price tags to pay an extra $5!!!! She kept saying "ma'am we need the correct ticket. There is nothing we can do." I sat there with my mouth open since I have worked in retail for 4 years as a supervisor and understand that you NEVER blame the customer! I broke the entire situation down to her to explain how what she was saying did not make sense and that she could run back the cameras to verify that I did not switch the tickets. I guess I was getting to loud so she just returned the pants. I called corporate within the next two days and was told the same BS! They said that if the price tag on the item does not match the item's description that they are not allowed to return it. So you mean to tell me that someone could make an honest mistake and accidently put the wrong ticket and when I purchase it, it is my fault?!!? Not the cashier's fault who rang me up but the customers fault?! Corporate apparently could not help me so I requested for the store manager (Richard) to call me. Guess what? HE NEVER DID! So now I am writing this post to discourage anyone in shopping here. Horrible customer service! read more

This would be a nearly perfect Marshall's if it wasn't for the rude employees. This Marshall's is very well stocked, has a great selection of items, and it's a pretty clean store. What stops it from being 5 stars is the employees. The ones at checkout are pretty condescending and make you feel like you are burdening them. I am really starting to lose interest in Marshalls, they use to be the go to store for good deals. This is another location that really is kind of drab, the shoe department is a joke, and they just have racks of the same thing no variety. The store is very clean, at least first thing in the morning that is. The customer service is ok depending on the cashier and the day. I think my Marshall days have come to an end I will stick to Nordstrom Rack for my bargain shopping. read more

This location never has a good selection of quality brands and the cashiers are usually inefficient and the line takes too long so I normally end up walking out without what I found. I'd rather go to the one on Lake in Pasadena or the one in South Gate. Plenty of parking but just hit up a different store in the plaza. read more

For it to be the holiday season this store is kept up very well. The customer service was excellent I needed help finding a shoe in my size and the friendly associate in the shoe department helped me find it. I was also able to find all the gifts I needed for my family and friends. The best part was I didn't have to wait in line long to make my purchase the cashiers moved quickly, a nice gentleman even helped remove the hangers from my clothes while I waited for a cashier who greeted me with a smile. One more thing I liked is that you guys still offer bags unlike the other stores. read more

We were purchasing a wallet that we found on the shelves that had no packaging in which we know comes packaged because we've seen them there before and when we were ready to pay I asked the lady if we would get a discount because it was missing the packaging and she called an employee instead of the manager and when she asked her if we would get a discount she refused to give a discount because "it was just a wallet" which I'm pretty sure if we didn't purchase the wallet it would go on clearance because it's not complete for sale and I'm sure if I were to return he wallet they wouldn't give us a refund neither did they tag the item with a Marshall's tag which Ik it's not much we would have got a discount from but it was just the way they felt with the situation and didn't even help. read more

Only gave one star because I had to. I purchased over $150 items, didn't like 2 items that totaled $35, so I tried to return it. I had all original packaging however I was turned away because I didn't have my receipt. I've never had this experience with Marshalls before, I asked for a Manager and got another sales associate named Angela, she had so much attitude and was really rude. Tried exchanging a dress I purchased for my mom about a month ago. Granted I didn't have the receipt I did not expect a refund but atleast an exchange. After being told the tag was "too old" whatever that means I asked her for a store credit and she rudely said no. Even tho I knew their exchange policy that no receipt=store credit I asked her anyway and she didn't even know!!! She was very rude and gave me the "I know you stole it" stare. I ended up purchasing my other items anyway but wont be coming back here again. Associate needs to learn better customer service and store policys. read more

Be careful in this store. Marshalls prices are actually higher than from the actual brand. If that's the case you can order direct for cheaper prices. Another reviewer said the staff is inefficient and complete agree. Travel to south bay, you'll get nicer experience and better selection read more
