Prior to my most recent visit, I had not been to this location in many years. I stopped coming due to messy store and long lines. However, some changes have been made- the store now looks much neater and orderly, along with the fact that several items are now locked up and you'll need to press a button for employee assistance to open it for you. The lines are still long though and they will hold your merchandise behind the counter. You can find some decent prices, for a wide array of things here... just don't come if you're in a rush for time. read more

Do all Marshalls and TJMaxx carts come broken, or certain locations just special? The selection is fine same stuff you'd find at any other Marshalls but the service? Brutal. The checkout line wraps around the entire store and easily takes 45-60 minutes because they've got maybe 3-4 registers open. Meanwhile, floor staff are just wandering around, half-heartedly putting things back, not helping anyone. I get it, you need associates on the floor, but when the line is looping past the registers twice and stretching all the way to the back, that's when you pull extra people to the front. Every time I stop by (which isn't often), the store is completely reorganized and not in a good way. It's messy, hard to navigate, and I can never seem to find what I'm looking for. I've been to plenty of Marshalls locations, but this one is definitely my least favorite. read more

Question: Do you believe " if you build it, they will come@? Is bigger better? Answer: No, specifically for Marshall's I'm still unsure what has happened to Marshals but I do see a deep decline. Maybe the cracks were already there but I think it started as COVID enveloped NYC and Marshalls and TJ Maxx as well, were ill prepared:: their e-commerce sites were not offering any merchandise and I remember times where the website would shut down due to no inventory. Time passed and post COVID, their s commerce seems better stocked than their stores. Did they catch on and realized their customer preferred to shop on line due to convenience and fear of catching COVID? I don't know but here is another question: I wonder is their brick and mortar needed anymore? If their lackluster service and slim pickings continue then the answer is sadly, no! Their once busting aisles of food, condiments and housewares are minimized every time I shop but their aisle next to the Cashwrap line is sloppy and filled to the max. Today, was even more discouraging: I found a bottle/ jar ( see pic) that had a Total Virgo motif on it. It really is a drinking bottle but a careless person broke the glass straw and it was left inside the bottle. There were other bottles with different images on them, all missing glass straws and were marked with a red clearance sticker $5.90 except the Virgo jar. I waited @30 minutes on line and then when I came to the cashier, very nice person, if they could discount it and showed her the broken glass inside bottle. I then hear a man behind wrap state "we can't sell it, it's broken and shouldn't be on the shelf". Really? Well, sir, it is on the shelf along with other items that are missing pieces thus this is why your shelf has a clearance sign on it. They gave me 10% off, I was looking for 50% off final sale.let's do some math folks: If Marshall's is to damage it out then the loss would be $6.99 versus marking it to $3.50 and making a customer happy. Here's some final thoughts.. if Marshall's really wants to stay in business on a retail level try some of these suggestions ASAP: 1. Managers presence should be on your floors 2. Hire temporary employees from temp agencies like Reflex to assist on the floor and perform inventory control 3. Security personnel at door helps but you need more assistance 4. Build self checkout kiosks to ease your lines, learn from Whole Foods, Target, CVS 5. Have at least 2 register taking 5 items or less Otherwise, close your stores or you will continue to lose customers.... Especially customers who are Virgos, LIKE ME. read more

We visited this store last week. My husband was looking for some V neck shirts. He didn't find what he wanted but we got something for the home. It was a huge store with many items for the home, kitchen, garden, men and women, etc. They had a wide selection. The items priced at a good value. The worst part was waiting in line to pay for our item. At first, there were 4 registers open, however, there were many people on line. Eventually, more registers opened. I think they need to come up with a better way. Don't make customers wait in line for so long. read more

If I could give this 0 stars I would. Every time I come here the checkout line is a minimum 15- 20 minute wait. I'm in line longer than I'm shopping. I've never had a good experience here and I'd urge anyone to go to a different store or location. Save your time! read more

When it comes to these big faceless corporate stores like Marshall's , location makes a difference and the one on Atlantic manifestly demonstrates it's attitude toward its customer base. It's Sunday and the line is worse than the international passport line at JFK. That's then telling these poor working families what they think of us and the kind of service we deserve. 13 cash registers and only five people are working.these poor people are not making enough to pay rent --not in this neighborhood-- but the company won't pay to have more cashiers to serve us: they know that this clientele will agree to wait on a snaked out quadruple line because their time is worthless. I came for some salon shampoo at discount price, some pillows and luggage. Luggage was never going to survive even one cross Atlantic trip. So I'm on a 40 minute line waiting to buy pillows. Never again. There are no proper houseware and home goods stores in my neighborhood- but honestly, this drives me to smoke and to go where I promised I wouldn't: amazon. read more

They have a bunch of stuff but I prefer the one over in Manhattan on Houston Street. This one was hit or miss, and didn't have a single thing I wanted to buy, not even for extra money. Such a fun store with great finds hate the way they run this store. It's awful. I've missed out on so many nice things because they simply won't well it unless it's the entire item. Found a really nice 'gift set' that was missing two parts of the set but I did not care because the missing pieces were ugly anyway (there was an identical set just a different colour) they refused to let me buy it even though I was trying to buy it but then proceeded to try and charge me full price for it and would sell it to me if I did pay full for it but would not sell it to me if I asked to simply buy the bag at a discounted price because it was missing half the set anyway. It just seems pointless for a store like Marshall's. The entire point of Marshall's is to get lost in Marshall's and hope to find something nice for yourself. Another day and another visit to a Marshall's location. This store is inside the Atlantic Center Mall, and is directly across from Barclay's Center. You can access this store from 10 subway lines. This store is large and fairly well stocked. Sales associates are polite and helpful. I arrived early and there were few shoppers in the store. I found Art of Shaving shave cream for only $5. I found Art of Shaving after shave balm for only $7. While I was on the line to pay I discovered Artisan Coffee Roasters coffee. There were two types available, French Vanilla Macadamia, and Hazelnut. Both were $4.99. P.s. there is street parking available on S Elliot Place. read more

I stood in line for almost 2 hours to purchase $100 in candles. When I got to the cashier she put all the candles in 1 bag. HUGE 3 WICK CANDLES. I politely asked her to put a maximum of 2 candles in each bag beacuse they were HEAVY!! SHEhe trew the bags on the desk and told me to "pack them myself". This store would be great if it weren't so disgusting. It looks like a tornado hit through it and no one seems to be willing to clean it up. If this says anything about the store, a woman changed her child's diaper in the middle of the women's clothing section, at one point putting the dirty diaper on the floor to fix the child's clothing. For some reason, it seemed fitting. The sign says to pardon their appearance, but I don't see any renovations going on at all. Maybe it's just some sort of general apology. read more

The saying goes...."you get what you pay for"... That said, ive found some great quality pieces for under $25. Name brands- you just have to do some searching. Long lines, but if you are paying a 75% discounted price, its worth it. Rude staff, but they are likely paid low wages, so giv'em a damn break. Listen, DONT KID YOURSELF- you arent going to get a 5th Ave experience here. Get over that now. Keep your eyes open, your dream-find might be laying on the floor or mixed up in the spices. I do like coming to this Marshalls. The Store is always clear, always organized, walking around this Marshall I am thinking organized. This particular time I was looking for men's ties and maybe a dress shirt, but I really wanted a new tie. There tie section was very limited, I did like the prices, they just did not have the items that I wanted this time. Just by walking around the store after my tie disappointment, I was thinking that I remember this Marshalls having a better selection of goods. It was also not the easiest to find items that I was curious about. As a lifelong NY'er with Ft. Greene as my second home for over 15 years, I remember the days of yore when Atlantic Center first opened and Marshalls was a fresh face on the scene. Oh how I marveled at getting good clothes on the cheap as my prior experience with the shop, out in Long Island, was on point. Much to my dismay, this Marshalls was not up to snuff. I left in a funk. That was in 1997. Fast-forward to 2010. After that experience in years past, I was scarred. But I figured, let me pop my head into Marshalls because, quite frankly, you just never know what you could find. Well, reviewer Konstantin V's pictures (they'll be very obvious) sums up my 1.15 minutes that I spent there on my last sojourn. What a mess. I like going to Marshalls however, I honestly get impatient looking for deals in here as it is always crowded. Prices are very good. Line moves fast. My only issue is I feel I have no room to really look around my shop. Shopping for my son is very hard sometimes because cause he is such a GQ but he LOVES buying his slacks and shirts from here. I'm not surprised this store has such a low rating! I MEAN WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT? Clearly that doesn't apply here! S M H... This store at all hours seemed to have the longest lines, but that's not even my problem. I came in for a specific item. I spent about 30 minutes scoping out some black boots that I needed, once I got them I probably waited 45 minutes in line just to purchase 1 pair of boots. At the time I purchased them, I was a bit skeptical because they weren't really my size but I was going to see if they stretched at all so I could walk in them comfortably. After two days of trying them on I decided it wasn't going to work so I wanted to just return them. I had noooo idea it was going to be a problem at all, but sadly I was given the hardest time. First of all I purchased a black male boot. During the transaction, the cashier decided the barcode was not good and called an associate from the men's department to grab a barcode for it. I didn't question anything at the moment, but that turned out to be a nightmare for me. I go in to make my return and once again waited 30 minutes just to get to a cashier! Once I get there I tell them the shoe doesn't fit. I paid cash for the shoe and they say I can't return it for cash. I can only get store credit. I'm like hold up I have the receipt in my hand I need the cash that I paid back. So I had to ask the manager to confirm I paid cash I bought these boots blah blah blah. Well that barcode issue came to bite me in the butt. Apparently the girl switched out the men's barcode for a women's barcode. So the manager comes over and cry disrespectfully disregarded anything I said. I told him that I purchased the boots and that I wanted to return them. He tells me "your receipt says you bought a woman's boot and you're returning a men's boot. We aren't giving you any cash back!" I even told him to look at the cameras from the day I bought them and he basically said get out of my store we aren't returning the boot. So before I lost my head I just left and reported them to Customer Service. The store owner called me and asked what my situation. I told them what had happened and after he gathered all the information he told me to come in on a certain day to make the return. So about a week after I originally tried to return the boot I was able to. I was just over the whole situation I had to make so many extra trips, unnecessary trips to make a return when it could have been lived the first time. I do appreciate the manager that allowed me to return the boot, but it should have never gotten to that point. AND I should have never been disrespected the way I was when I initially went in for the return. UNACCEPTABLE! read more

Before you even read my review, please take a minute to look at the photos that myself and others have posted of this Marshalls location. The condition that this store is in is outrageous and completely unacceptable. It's clear that the management of this location needs to be completely replaced because the staff makes no effort to maintain or clean the store. Earlier this month I was in the Atlantic Mall in the morning, doing some quick grocery shopping at Pathmark, and decided to try to avoid the typical massive line in Marshalls by getting there as they opened. Rather than have a peaceful shopping experience, I was shocked to see that the store was in worse shape than ever. Piles of clothing all over the floors, clothing falling off the racks, heaps of clothes tossed haphazardly across racks. Rolling racks blocking the aisles. Not only had the staff not cleaned up the store the night before, but had made no effort to clean it before opening again! Who wants to shop in such a disgusting environment? I don't care how discounted it is. The discounts should not be a compromise for cleanliness or professionalism. Despite there being a lot of visible staff members in the store, the cash registers are also grossly undermanned, resulting in snaking lines that would keep you from making any kind of casual purchase. I'd much rather pay full price for an item than waste half an hour on line because I happened to find a snappy polo shirt in between all the clothing that is being treated like TRASH! There is nothing charming or kitschy about the filthy condition of this store or the staff's obvious disregard for customers' shopping experience. I've written to the Marshall corporate office about this location, because it is an embarrassment and as customers we deserve better. I encourage you to do the same. THis is probably the worst Marshall's that I have ever been to. Nothing is organized especially the shoe section. It's like the people who work there just throw them on the shelf and say "F*CK IT!". Methinks I might have discovered the secret! This time, I went to Marshall's right before closing time. Although usually I don't find anything here, somehow this time I discovered, in short order: a silicon ladle for $2, 3 bags of Jelly Belly jelly beans for $1. each, and 3 really nice tops, and a dress, on the clearance rack, for between $3. (!) and $7. (!) There were only 2 or 3 customers in front of me in line, and although the cashier was impatient and grumpy, she couldn't spoil my good mood. The entire Atlantic Center Mall gets a lot of guff, rightfully so, but somehow Marshalls manages to stay mostly under the ire radar while the much bigger targets like, well, Target, and Pathmark, soak up most of the fire. Well, no more. Because in some ways, this Marshalls is even worse. For all their crappiness, you can usually at least find things worth buying in Target and Pathmark--it's just a matter of sacrificing adequate amounts of sanity and time to the bloodthirsty pagan gods responsible for those stores' creation. And both those stores, crowd-wise, are really pretty tolerable before around noon. Conversely, Marshalls takes the alternate approach of offering very nearly nothing worth purchasing in all their aisles of detritus and misery, and on top of that, has absolutely intolerable lines almost from the minute the doors open. This magic combination is achieved through another, similarly magic combination of customers who are both older than time and appear to be frozen in it, and employees of such character and work ethic that their hobbies surely include randomly erasing orphans' names from organ-donor waiting lists. Essentially this Marshalls combines the raw appeal of a sewage-treatment plant with the lines of the DMV if it mated with an amusement park. Its only saving grace is that there is little reason to go in it in the first place. read more

Oh so crappy, but the Atlantic Mall is pretty crappy to begin with. Here are your options for clothing: house brands from Target (that barely stay in stock); Old Navy in the basement (with long lines); Burlington Coat Factory (which I wouldn't count on having anything specific); and Pay/Half for super cheap off-brand stuff. And then there's Marshalls, which pretty much brings the worst of all places together. There's barely anything available (for men's), and if you find something good that's not in your size, don't bet on them having another one. Prices aren't as good as they used to be. The lines are super long as well on weekends. I will say that the staff is very friendly (both on the floor and in the fitting rooms). But other than that, not worth going to. read more

This Marshall's is the worst. It is like walking through the jungle (In the Movie Avatar) Not knowing what the heck is going to attack you in the bushes. Stuff, EVERYWHERE!! I cut myself on something I picked up, and was bleeding, alot!! Now I know everyone is quick to sue now a days! I told the manager and she gave me a band aid, and didn't even care to ask what cut me so she could remove it! Idiot! I go once in a while when I cant make it to gateway center's Marshall's. This store is a crazy mess and the checkout lines are for some reason painfully slow. I shop here because it is in the mall complex and it is easy to drop by when you are in the area and check out if there is any goody worth snatching. Never bothered to go through the clothing racks here. Ok that is a lie, if I don't find anything I feel disgusted that I wasted my time. But if I do find something nice, oh my oh my what a bargain!! ( I did stop dead in my tracks seeing some nice CK dresses marked down to $40, org. $140). I often get kitchen/dinning wares here, they are much cheaper than anywhere else for the same stuff. Bread knife, cutting board, pretty Italian hand painted plates, etc. If you need good, large serving plates or bowls and don't have the budget I suggest you to drop by. I love Marshall's as much as the next person but I can honestly say that I've never seen such a mess of a store, with the exception of the Burlington Coat Factory that's directly above this Marshall's. I decided to torture myself by shopping here not one time, but 4 times! I guess I'm just a glutton for punishment. The best way to describe this store in one word is, CHAOS! It literally looks like a tornado tore through this store. There is always merchandise all over the place, on the floors, on top of racks, just as the pictures show. I've never seen customers disrespect merchandise the way they do at this location, it's absolutely appalling! I swear the employees have just given up on trying to clean this place up. To rub salt into the wound, the check out lines are so absurdly long that 3 out of the 4 trips I've made here have ended in me leaving the line because I couldn't wait any longer. My advice is to avoid this Marshall's location at all costs! If you must go then plan to spend at least 30 minutes in line to checkout! Edit: I forgot to mention that if you do shop here then watch the prices. I saw a North Face fleece that I liked. The tag on it was for $279.99 but I know that this fleece isn't even $249.99 at a non discounted store! Prices are great, customer service sucks. Employees are not engaged, and they're extremely rude. Do better Marshalls. Especially in lay away, too busy socializing. Fights on the line with customers screaming threatening to kill each other twice in one week. Management ignores it completely, to the disgust of the rest of us on line.
