Stopped in on a weekday for lunch and there was hardly anyone there. Got a table right away and the service was fine. Not great, but not bad either. The food was so good and very reasonably priced. The wings and fried chicken were delicious. Sides were good, too! I left there very full with leftovers. I'll definitely be going back again to try more of the menu. (I am not going to let this dock my rating--but I will say the decor/interior and overall vibe was kind of odd. Dark and not very appealing. Also, there was a tabletop display explaining they want to be fun, but then went on to explain the automatic tip various etiquette/rules. Felt the opposite of fun. Got fried catfish with 2 sides included for $19,I added a side because I was curious about blue cheese coleslaw. Only one piece of fish I thought it wasn't enough but it was a big piece though so it was good ,fried just right crispy well seasoned got fried okra very good and greens also very good well seasoned. The blue cheese coleslaw was very good if you like blue cheese you'll like it . Always out of food. Closed before they say they are closing, and rude, just rude. The food is good so I guess there is that.

My husband and I ordered take out and it was HORRIBLE. The gumbo tasted like trash, the fried livers were almost burnt, macaroni and cheese was burnt, pork chop no seasoning. The chicken wings were good, the greens were OK, the hot crab dip was good but it was only filled halfway. The yams were really good. I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

We were very disappointed in this restaurant. We had a group who f eight people and we were all looking forward to shrimp and grits as well as jambalaya. We had an early reservation at 6PM. When we got there we were surprised that there were only two other tables occupied. The hat should have been the first clue. We ordered drinks and one person wanted an old fashioned with one of the whiskeys listed on their menu only to find out they were out of it as well as their second choice. When we ordered our dinners they only had 2 dinners left of both the shrimp and grits as well as the jambalaya so not everyone was able to get what they wanted. The shrimp and grits was delicious but the jambalaya and the Chicken Etoufee was very bland. When we paid the bill I quickly looked at the itemized bill to make sure each item we ordered was listed and nothing extra. I then signed the credit card slip and added a 20% tip. After I got back to the hotel I looked at the itemized bill again and saw that they added a 18% service charge. At no time we're we told that they automatically added the 18% for parties if 6 or more. In fact even for parties of less then 6 people they automatically add a 15% gratuity giving the patrons no option of tipping less. This policy was also not printed on the credit card receipt. In fact on the credit card receipt listed various suggested tips for various percentages. They should have told us this when we made our reservation or when the waiter brought the bill. Unfortunately I can not recommend this restaurant. read more

Nice, quiet restaurant near Goodyear headquarters. Southern-style food with chicken, fish, and not very common liver and gizzard. Service was very attentive and friendly. Went in today after my graduation looking for a place to eat in Akron. Went in and the waitress ignored us until another couple came in and then took care of them before us. Once she saw us she had a very poor attitude towards us and didn't hardly get a refill for us when needed. Once the food came out it was awful. I got the jambalaya and it was bland and for sure microwaved. My girlfriend got chicken tenders which were fine but the mashed potatoes and mac and cheese were awful. And for the last dish my mother got a burger well done and it looked like a grill brick. It tasted awful as well. The best thing we had was the water. To sum it up, poor service, poor food, poor attitude. Would not recommend what so ever. For soul food it's definitely pretty soul less. read more

I've ate here a few times and it's just ok. I hate to say it but the Mac isn't good and I feel that's the 1st thing you have to have mastered to truly be called a Soul Food Restaurant. The 1st time I went I got shrimp and grits with a side of Mac. The shrimp and grits was good. The second time I went I got smothered chicken with rice and gravy. I was given boneless chicken tenders as my chicken! I was in such disbelief I couldn't do anything but laugh to my friends that were with me. We also purchased the sweet potato bar. Which had a cookie bottom and sweet potato filling (this is how it was described to us) but only problem is it was DEFINITELY pumpkin filling. I'm sorry but YUCK! So if they get the Mac together and add some real desserts like maybe banana pudding, peach cobbler, pound cake they'd be able to add more flavor. read more

We just held an event for 30 people today. I have never been treated with such disdain and disrespect. Other reviews have commented on the lack of professionalism of the staff. This is a mild statement. The staff is disrespectful because of their leadership who is the owner. What we thought was going to a wonderful experience left us wishing we had chosen another venue. While the food is seasoned well, so is my fried chicken and fish. If you don't mind being mistreated you can survive doing takeout. There is one employee who was wonderful she prepares the food.
