He gave me some really honest feedback on what I needed to fix, what could wait, what was a "nice to have" and helped me decide whether it was worth it to fix it or sell. I decided to have Marqueen make the repairs. I completely trusted them to steer (pun intended :)) me in the right direction. My parent's have been going to Kurt for years. So, when I purchased my first car I too visited the tiny shop atop the QA. The first few visits my car came back better then before. But this last visit was disappointing. I needed a 90k tune up, which I got, and I asked them to check out the alignment. Unfortunately they don't do alignments but said they would look to see what the problem was. The next week I took my car to an alignment shop and they told me there were a multitude of other problems. Not really sure how they missed these other problems if they really looked down there. I figured thee stars, perhaps 2.5, is appropriate due to the history with my parents and the other few times I have visited. read more

Ok, This is the very first time I have ever given a review on Yelp but here it goes. Please be careful going to Mar queen garage! I Originally went here because of the great reviews on yelp but my experience was quite the opposite. I went in to the shop and they were very nice and said they would take care of my car and it's transmission leak. Two weeks later I picked up the car, he said he took out the transmission to change the trans pump and even though it was 2 weeks later (which is quite unacceptable) I was simply excited to have my car back. I drove away and when I got to where I was going I noticed the leak was still there....nothing had changed except for the fact that he filled my transmission fluid (enough to drive away?). I took it back and he basically said that he did not have time to work on it any more. so I took it to a transmission shop and they took out the transmission and said that not only was the pump never changed, the transmission was never even taken out. they said they could tell because the bolts were still very tight (like it had never been taken out during the life of the car) and they said if it was actually taken out any grease monkey would have noticed the 5 inch crack in the transmission casing. So please do not go here. they do not call to update you on progress of your car and do not seem to know what they are doing outside of changing oil and breaks. read more

I have never ever bothered to write a review about anything online, but this place is truly a fantastic place to bring your vehicle for repairs. Always super friendly and easy going, they seem to always be able to take a look at my car the same day I bring it in (without an appointment!) and make the whole experience hassle free, But MOST importantly, they take care of me. It seems they are always looking out for my best interest and not their own bottom line. I have had a really problematic V W Beetle with an itchy check engine light and a nervous wife who needs everything to look and run perfect, so I have been in to see them at least a dozen times in the last 12 months. Each time they give me an honest appraisal of what is wrong and whether it really needs to be fixed or not. They have never repaired anything that wasn't absolutely necessary and have even caught loads of extra little problems that they fixed for free since they were easy and didn't need parts!! I don't know any mechanic except for a close friend or relative that would do that for their customers...it's like stepping back into the 1950's when people really cared about the job that they did. I would have my car towed from nearly anywhere in Washington state to have it repaired here and am really thankful to have discovered them!! PS: Just read the two bad reviews on here (one from when it was owned by a previous owner) and wanted to comment: No one gets it perfect every single time and these guys are so busy that sometimes they are not extremely pro-active about notifiying me when parts arrive. But everytime there has been a problem after they fixed the car (usually something new that was contributing to the main problem), they have always taken it right back in and sorted everything out. When this happens they don't even charge me labor, just parts. To me it's not that there are never ever any problems or mistakes, it's how they handle them when there are. I also noticed that in both bad reviews the customer had to take a day off or rent a replacement car and I can completely understand how that might make any problem seem that much worse. read more

I have been through 2 cars with them and have always received incredibly fair and impeccable service. After my last vehicle was totaled, I am now looking for a new(used) car. My husband and I bought a truck from a person in Seattle. We knew it had mechanical issues and asked for it to be looked at by a local mechanic. MarQueen Garage looked at the 2003 Ford Ranger and quoted just under $1000 to fix all the issues. As a result my husband and I negotiated the price accordingly and then brought it back to Port Orchard, WA for the repairs to be made at our trusted local mechanic, a mechanic we know well and have used for 15+ years. Our local mechanic, Walt's Auto Care Center found so much more wrong with the truck that needed to be repaired. Walt's has never over charged us and only recommended work when it was necessary. The necessary repairs totaled $2500. Port Orchard has a cheaper cost of living than Seattle so the labor cost did not drive the price up. Walt's told us of the things that were starting to go back and so for us to feel good about our purchase we ended up getting everything fixed which totaled $3872. We are happy with our local mechanic shop but are very displeased with Marqueen Garage at not finding everything wrong with our vehicle. We don't know if they didn't do as thorough a job since it was for a vehicle sale inspection. I'm not sure. But I do caution using them if it's to look at a vehicle you are buying. read more

Wow, Nate really provided customer service when I needed it!!! It was my birthday, the car was overheating and I was throwing water to the radiator. I was heading to my party amid squealing belts and steam pouring from under the hood. I knew I shouldn't drive, but had only a short distance to go. I rolled into the Marqueen Garage to get Nate's endorsement that I wouldn't damage the engine. He located the problem, repaired the car, replaced the coolant, and test-drove it. In the past I've done my own auto repair but not anymore for the important stuff. It's nice to have a connection with a reliable auto repair shop because when you need them, you need them! Over the phone, they helped confirm my diagnosis of a bad starter on my vehicle. They asked all the right questions to rule out the other suspects in the starting system of the vehicle. They made a sound recommendation of a new name OEM starter as opposed to a rebuilt which, based on online reviews of rebuilt starters, seemed like a reasonable call to me. Gave me a reasonable estimate...much lower than dealer, and just a bit lower than a competitor. They were in my QA neighborhood and I had walked by their shop for 30 years and never taken advantage of their services as I usually do all maintenance and repairs on my own car. So I decided to give them a try. I got the car towed in that afternoon and got it back the next morning, with a new starter. On budget. Easy, efficient, pleasant, friendly folks. 2 year warranty on parts and labor. And I love supporting my neighborhood businesses. I would definitely use them again. read more

Had my 11year old BMW services there. They were flexible and up front about the work. No surprises and nothing that I didn't already know about my car. Nice neighborhood garage and friendly staff. Very poor service! Not the same garage anymore. Since the original owner left, this place has gone downhill fast. I recently asked them to fix my side mirror. Not a big job. I gave the guy all the info over the phone and he said to bring the car in. I brought my car in and left it with them per their request. I arranged a rental car for the day. They called me in the afternoon saying they needed to order the part and have it painted. I explained that I rented a car and that info would have been useful before I brought the car in. They apologized and said it would be in in a week. 3 weeks later I call wondering what the status was and they say they need the VIN to ensure the paint color is correct... really??? 3 weeks without a peep from them and they haven't done a thing. Told them I would be by to pick up the mirror and take it to another shop. I will never use them again. read more

We have used Marqueen several times for oil changes and scheduled service for our Honda Odyssey van. While I do like the convenience and courtesy, I would point out some things that could have been better. In a few cases they have not called us to let us know that the car was ready. Instead we've called them and found out that the car was ready. It would be nicer if they let us know promptly once the work is done. During a prior visit we had a tire pressure warning which they said was due to a faulty sensor that could only be fixed if the tire were replaced, which they don't do. We drove with that indicator light for months assuming it was innocuous only to find out later that the tire pressure was in fact very low (i.e. it was a legitimate warning). I guess it's possible that it was a false alarm at first, and then the problem emerged over time, but it seems likely that it was a problem all along and they had neglected to properly check the tire pressure. read more

I think Marqueen is great. I've lived on Queen Anne for years, but had never taken my car to them for any services. One day several warning lights popped up on my dashboard and I figured something needed attention fairly quickly, so I stopped by Marqueen to ask if they could take a look. Nate helped me immediately, found the issue, and I was back on the road within 30 minutes. I liked them so much that I took my car back to have another repair done - one that a different garage quoted for $700. Marqueen fixed it in a few hours and charged just $350, which included an oil & filter change! I now consider Marqueen garage "my" mechanics and will take my car there for all future service needs! read more

Marqueen used to be a great garage when it was owned by Kurt. But now I don't trust them since they are under new ownership. I recently was needing a new catalytic converter. The mechanic told me it might be a sensor that needed to replaced, so he did that instead. It turned out I still needed a new catalytic converter, $500.00 later, so essentially they were telling me I needed to pay another $700. Plus, their prices have gone way up. read more

I recently went to Marqueen garage to have my car checked out. I was concerned because my car was making clunking noises and the brakes were squeeking pretty badly. I was warmly welcomed by a nice lady who asked me what the issue was and made me an appointment for the next day. The next day, I was welcomed by Nate, one of the mechanics there who was super nice and said he would take a look at my car and call me when they have the results. Less than an hour later, I was called to come in and given a printout of suggestions that can be done to help the clunking sound which ended up being a broken catalytic converter which was no emergency to fix at this point.Apparently,the brakes were ok too. I was very grateful for their honesty since I have had my fair share of mechanics fixing things that were not necessary and charging me an arm and a leg.I was very thankful for their honesty and definately will take my car back in the short future since my car is not in top shape. read more
